Thysius' mother was one of many Djinn enslaved by the genie-binders of Sedeq, who in turn was sold to a powerful wizard in Molthune. During her enslavement, the wizard used her natural abilities to increase his own elemental powers. The man was incredibly cruel to those elemental beings he had purchased from Sedeq. For nearly two decades Thysius' mother was subjected to his inhumane treatment, that was until she was liberated by a small group of Pathfinders who had come to free the elemental beings from their imprisonment. One of these adventures was Thysius' father. The union produced a single child, who was neither Djinn, nor human. Raised by his 'Uncles and Aunts' (all various members of the PFS) Thysius gravitated towards studying swordplay and magic... excelling at both, but mastering neither.

That was until a few months ago when Thysius' repeated tavern brawls and street duals could no longer be ignored by the city guard. In order to protect Thysius from some of Absolom's seedier duelists, who would rather stab a rival in the back than admit defeat, he was 'urged' to join the society and travel the world for a unspecified period of time.
