Yo with all due respect, what happened to the 36 hours we agreed? I got on to post and found you had already botted my character it seems. I am sorry i wasn't quite so quick to respond this time but I have been under an immense amount of stress lately with trying to get into a college.

![]() |

sigh i mean you weren't far off but the way it was gone about was not ideal, and ideally he would have tried to pull Amaryst into cover as well, or at least drawn his gun.
Listen, i'm sorry im just under a lot of stress currently, i know i am probably making a bigger deal out of this than i should be.

MLE-1138 |

Awesome, and thank you! Does this mean that Emily knows about K-Van though? I'd mentioned using empathy on him, Cross, and Smyrna before we went into Naomi's.
And sorry I've been kind of flaky lately.

Maldor Brock |

I will be traveling from Sunday to Tuesday - will try to post Sunday but will miss Monday for sure...bot my character if needed. Thanks!

My favorite name theme for starships is precious metals. I like to go for
Small/Medium Ship: Halcyon (meaning Gold)
Large Ship: Argentum (meaning Silver)

Jin doesn't fully trust the Lashunta, but as it stands they have the same goals currently and they have resources we need

therealthom |

Good point. With the hovercraft we could try a mid-ocean pick up.
As for same goals -- well our goal is survival and keeping Em and Mal free. Their goal is survival and taking Em and Mal somewhere for purposes unknown directed by factors unknown.
Her last comment was mostly to try to get them to feel vulnerable and in need of allies. And she's miffed. There's a whole world of potential enemies out there. Despite being hopelessly, hilariously outgunned, all the lashunta so far have defaulted to 'shoot our way out of trouble.'

![]() |

Nice save there Maldor, i left that hanging hoping someone would interject.
So, with our larger than usual party, i was thinking, maybe we should consider a Destroyer or a Heavy Freighter for our eventual refit of the ship. It would give us enough room to all stay in it comfortably, some extra cargo space, and also is the smallest type of ship that can support more than 6 crew actions (though 6 of us could fly it if need be).

therealthom |

That would be cool. We've got two good pilots now and anyone could train up fairly easily if they wanted to in the next level or so. I was thinking about this the other day. You could houserule an external docking station that would hold one or two tiny ships for the price of an expansion bay or two. But that's awfully close to a shuttle bay.
Whatever, we've got plenty of time IRL before we upgrade from Space Available or whatever we call the shuttle.

Quick Note about Cyrune: The Witchwyrd homeworld is highly secretive, it doesn't show up on any maps and to the wider galaxy it's location is a well-guarded secret. Only Witchwyrds and close friends under extremely tight nondisclosure contracts know it's location.
If those contracts are broken, they have a government agency devoted entirely to covering breaches up and punishing the contract-breaker.
It's very nice when you actually get there, but the paperwork getting there to begin with is a b&%$+.

leinathan |

A trip to Cyrune is far enough that it will involve at least one stop for fuel and one stop at a mobile station for signing these contracts. I imagine a large witchwyrd vessel that visitors need to dock with in order to obtain permission to go to Cyrune's system. Fair?

![]() |

Yeah, that sounds fair. Technically the contracts would be for registering them as in my employ, but that's not too big a deal, just means I'm responsible for them. Just please don't cause trouble when we get there guys. >_>
As for these other two, are there any good places we can drop them off for extraction without giving our direction away? And what's the story with Rollo?

So question: Does anything physically stop us from making a Drift Jump while on the surface? I mean, it's not like we can do much damage if we do it out at sea unless there is some major repercussion ive yet to be informed of?

leinathan |

Drift jumps can and often do pull material from random other dimensions of existence to where you are, if I'm not mistaken. That's why Drift-capable ships are illegal on the surface, because it can lead to boulders falling from the sky or monsters randomly appearing.

therealthom |

I thought jumps into the drift dragged the dimensional chunks into the drift, not into real space. The concern could be that a hunk of earth will be dragged into the drift.
The requirement to shut down thrusters before jumping implies that you need to be in an inertial, non-accelerating state to jump. You rationalize that a planets gravity field is an 'accelerating' environment that prevents jump.

'Cross' |

I’d vote that a sufficiently advanced navigational computer might be able to compensate for drifting under the effects of some kind of gravity well or acceleration, but those are prohibitively rare, expensive, and likely closely controlled by the universe’s movers and shakers. If anyone without such a device attempts to drift in a gravity well... it gets messy

Okay, so you have a couple of plans going. I wanted to explain exactly what it would take to get these plans completed in order to maybe nudge you along a little.
Given that it's mid-afternoon and plans seem to be slowing down, I'd say that the second day is coming to a close and you should really look into executing some of these plans.
Cross Motorcycle Race:
Cross will race against 5 other participants. The water-treatment plant as a venue has lots of obstacles, so the goal is to be the last driver standing. Basically, this means that he shouldn't fail too many drive checks, because for each one he fails, his bike takes a little bit of damage. Amaryst is free to race if she wants to as well. However, somebody's gotta Diplomacy, Intimidate or bribe the Fergus brothers to let her in instead of another racer.
- The race takes place in 2 days, which means the group would need to evade the authorities for 2 additional days in order for this race to happen. This is also time to make more money to stake on the race.
- Money is made for the race according to how the odds are stacked against you. Cross has 10 to 1 odds to win, which means he gets 10 times as much money as he stakes on himself if he wins. Improving these odds involves getting online and hyping up the other racers while appearing legitimate, which means Computers and Cultures checks.
The goal here is to make at least 30,000 credits so that you can get fresh new IDs for the three science experiments in order to get everyone up to Amaryst's ship in order to leave the Sol system directly, without having to do the mid-ocean pickup.
Hovercraft Mid-Ocean Pickup
- One group needs to reach Amaryst's ship, which is in orbit. This involves taking an orbital shuttle from the New York Spaceport, which is free and leaves every 2 hours. However, you need a valid ID in order to do so, which means that MLE, K-Van, and Maldor cannot be a part of this group. This group must contain someone capable of Engineering and someone capable of Piloting. It must also contain either Amaryst or someone who has Computers to hack through the ship's biometric locks.
This group must steal the transponder off of an existing orbital shuttle with an Engineering check without being noticed (Stealth probably, or a distraction). Then, they have to fight or sneak past the thugs guarding Amaryst's ship, re-install the transponder with another Engineering check and fly down to the planet.
- The other group needs to take control of the hovercraft, so it must contain someone with Piloting. This group is to sail away from the harbor and into the middle of the ocean, and then transmit their location to Amaryst's ship for pickup. This group is also the one responsible for the acquisition of anything which the group wants to bring with them off of Earth before you leave. Combat-capable characters are suggested as well, because pirates are common on the ocean. Characters with Engineering as suggested as well, because if something happens to damage the hovercraft, you're basically screwed if you can't repair it.
- - - - -
I don't think that you guys are interested in the bank robbery, but if you are, you just need to case the joint in order to figure out what needs to be done to do it. I didn't see any other very valid plans for getting off-world quickly, so unless you have an idea which seems better, you just need to get to the execution phase of these plans.

Amaryst Geil |

Just a couple things I want to make sure I'm clear on:
Is Rollo, Savael and Ayda's heavy fighting gear, Castrovelli government military, or is it commercial?
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
They've shown an interestingly fatalistic devotion to mission without communicating a rationale or cause that motivates them. Do they seem more like government soldiers, corporate goons, mercenaries, or criminals?
Sense Motive, untrained: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

![]() |

Incase it wasn’t blindingly obvious at this point Jin formed an attachment to Emily and the other kids under his care when they were growing up in the Institute. With her escape that attachment has become somewhat parental. He sees Emily as a metaphorical daughter since he basically designed her from the ground up and raised her for most of her childhood.

Maldor Brock |

Maldor will obviously be on the hovercraft. He has no engineering skills, and very little piloting skills (+1), but good life science / medicine and great perception/mysticism skills =) Plus the whole healing thing...

leinathan |

[dice= Perception] 1d20+1

[dice= Sense Motive, untrained] 1d20-1
Their gear is military-grade, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they're part of Castrovelli military, because all weapons and equipment are made by a third party corporation.
They seem like soldiers or mercenaries. They're not goons, and they're not just one-off hires either.

![]() |

So, Jin - you're unwilling to do the bank robbery? What do the rest of the people think of this?
He's not unshakeable, he might be willing to do it if he was on his own, but he's VERY against bringing the psychics into any such activities. He doesn't want them getting the wrong kind ideas in those powerful brains of theirs.
To put it simply, he feels obligated to avoid involving Emily and to a lesser extent Maldor in illicit activities. There is a very large difference between buying shady passports and robbing a bank. Surprisingly our mad gene splicer has some ethics it seems.

leinathan |

Awesome, and thank you! Does this mean that Emily knows about K-Van though? I'd mentioned using empathy on him, Cross, and Smyrna before we went into Naomi's.

Players, you may be noticing that I forget to answer things sometimes. This is totally my bad! I read from my phone without wanting to post, and then go post when I have my computer.
Yes, MLE knows that K-Van has psychic powers.

![]() |

One thing I will note. Jin’s medical equipment doesn’t keep any data. Cassius is his storage repository for that information. Though getting surprised by this I’m kinda regretting packing Cassius connection equipment up and bringing it with me. Tho the saving grace of that is they don’t have anything to connect with him.

So much to do. I think maybe we wait for Cross to race. It looks like a good chance to raise money and we're cash poor. Also need to find out if the authorities will let my ship go if I haven't done the interview.

'Cross' |

Yeah, I'd like to fast-forward to after the initial set up for the race and I've got my ride. I want to figure out ways for everyone to get involved without actually cheating. I figure we can tune up the ride and do a bit of scouting of the route, maybe have our psychics and tech-heads monitoring the competition for cheating.

leinathan |

Yeah, the idea is to fast-forward past things that we don't really need to RP in order to get to the action faster, which I want to do. So, I want to know what you guys plan to be doing for the foreseeable future until we need to meet up and do some adventuring.
If you want to be helping Cross set up for the race, it can happen in 2 days. In that time, you can help Cross set up (providing him with bonuses and boons) by scouting the place (Engineering, Perception, etc) tuning up his bike (Engineering, probably) doing research on the competition (Cultures) hyping up Cross or the other racers in an attempt to increase Cross' take if he wins (Computers, Cultures) or something else that you may think of. However, each person can only do one, as it takes several hours to do.
Someone also probably needs to drop Maldor and MLE off with the lashunta so that they can start heading out across the sea in preparation for the pickup, and decide when that might be.
