Botting people.
Milarandei resumes her rendition of the classic "Kill it! Kill it dead!" Performance[/ooc
Kastarr launches another arrow, before Two Tall steps up with his double axe. His swinging double axe fails to connect, as he struggles to breathe through his nose.
Kastarr Bow: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 1 = 10

The ghast pursues Fatham, who has been most effective against it so far. [ooc]5 foot step. It digs its teeth into him once more, causing him to fall to the ground, unusually still.

Maybe the dice roller really does hate you guys...I suggest sending the web team cookies. The party is back up. This is Splittooths second (and last) paralyzed round, Two Tall and Fatham's first (of four).
Milarandei Qetra - Core |
Milarandi, equal parts furious and terrified, steps back, draws a flask of holy water, and thows it at the ghast.
PBS and inspire courage should cancel out sickened for attack. I'm iffy on if sickened applies to splash weapon damage, but assuming it does for now. If not, add 2 damage.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 4 = 15
Damage: 2d4 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 1 + 1 - 2 = 3
Go figure.
"I've another one of those!" she shouts as the ghast's flesh begins to sizzle. "Pull it off me if you think you're as sure a shot as I!"
Lilyth Cailean |
channel: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Not knowing what else to do, and hemmed in on all sides by her compatriots, Lilyth throws caution to the wind and channels a bit of her god's power. A greenish blue wave pulses out from her as she concentrated, healing some and giving a sense of relief to all.
Channel for 3 points of healing

Botting Akhenethys
Akhenethys' eagle disappears. I believe. If not, you can roll attacks for this round later. Meanwhile, he shoots another dart of acid. Dart: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Dam: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Lilyth grimaced at the claw wound, but thanked Cayden Cailean that she didn't succumb to the paralyzing touch of the ghast. Giving up on trying to get space to use her spear, Lilyth dropped the longspear and pulled a dagger. She thrust the dagger in low, aiming for the creature's gut.

"Thank goodness! I didn't think we were going to be able to stop it in time!"
Lilyth moved around the group, checking injuries and determining how badly everyone was hurt. Concentrating on Fatham, she stabilized him, then channeled a focused bit of power to heal his wounds.

"Anyone else badly injured?"
Sacred touch to stabilize Fatham, then convert Enlarge Person to CLW
Fatham |
Fatham stirs from his paralysis.
"I...could see everything happening, but couldn't move. That abomination was almost the end of me...my thanks," he says.
The druid stands and looks around.

GM Lari |
You're able to notice that one sarcophagus seems to have been opened recently.
The sarcophagus lid slides aside with the sound of a grinding millstone. The well-preserved body of a young girl lies inside, stringy black hair obscuring the face. Her atrophied limbs are drawn up like folded sticks against her torn school uniform. She wears a ruby salamander ring.
Lilyth Cailean |
"It looks like we have found our charge. Unless I am mistaken, this is the young Dacilane girl, and the ring we were sent to recover. I'd say then, that we have been successful, despite our difficulties."
Lilyth reached down and tried to carefully remove the ring from the girl's hand.
"I say we leave the body here, undisturbed, except for this ring, and bring the news back to her mother. Given Lady Dacilane's statements at the dinner, I think she would prefer to send her own retainers for Junia's body, rather than have us cart it out like a sack of turnips."
Kastarr Emris |
"There's a crown and some rings on this ghast. Might as well collect it all. Pathfinder expeditions don't fund themselves..."
Kastarr puts action to his words, gathering anything that looks valuable from the fallen ghast.
GM Lari |
A heal check on the body and spellcraft to ID the ring would be good ideas.
The other remaining question is how you want to handle Deris. It's clear he doesn't want to leave, and is happily talking to the image of his daughter, which doesn't seem to respond.
Among the other items, you find a set of polished silver plates each with the decorative bust of a Taldan noble rising from its center like a man from a mercury pool (1,400 gp) and a goldplated, ceremonial longsword (300 gp).
Milarandei Qetra - Core |
"I'm all for whatever gets me to a temple quickest, but I fear I must indulge a professional curiosity," says Milarandei before intoning a few arcane words and focusing on the ring.
Detect Magic. natch

I give up. I have rolled horribly all week, live or online.
"Hmmm. Akh, check this out."

I should delegate my dice rolls to the GM from now on, apparently.
Please fail...
Knowledge (Religion). Do undead breathe?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Milarandei stumbles back, drawing her other flask of holy water and preparing to pour it on the body. "Guys!" she shouts. "We're not done here!"
Lilyth Cailean |
Lilyth spun at Milarandei's cry and raced back to the girl's body. Looking at the soft breaths, she said, "No. I don't think we are. Perhaps we can get her home alive...but what has been keeping her alive down here?"
heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Kastarr Emris |
"Still alive?! How is that possible? Kastarr has some skill at healing, one has to be able to tend one's own wounds in the wilds. He examines the girl, trying to understand how she could be alive.

Akhenethys Bin Lisimba |
"The ring! It may have been sustaining her. Quick, put it back on her finger in case she can't survive without it!"
Akhenethys will take 10 on Spellcraft for 19 when scanning the ring or the girl.
Fatham |
Fatham looks at the girl skeptically.
"Are we sure she's not also undead?" he asks. Still, he moves to her side and places the back of his hand on her cheek.

Lilyth Cailean |
"Is there any point? He has the freedom to choose his own path, and if he chooses to be with his daughter, then so be it. What are you going to do? Beat him unconscious and drag him topside? He'll just come back down here as soon as he is able. His mind was broken by the loss of his daughter. Perhaps leaving him here with her will allow him to cope with that loss and begin the healing process."
Lilyth isn't shy about making that point known, and she begins to head for the exit from the necropolis, cocking an eyebrow to see if anyone else would follow.
Fatham |
Fatham nods at Lilyth's words. "I suppose it doesn't hurt to let him know we are leaving," the druid growls.
diplo: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
"We are leaving," Fatham tells the man. "We would accompany you up. But you are free to choose your own course of action."
Seeing the man does not intend to follow, he says to the others "Here I am in complete agreement with the cleric. He will decide what is in his best interest. If he comes back, he comes back. If he dies here, that is his choice."
The druid follows Lilyth up the stairs.
GM Lari |
Leaving the catacombs and grounds is a simple matter, even with the still breathing body.
Lady Dacilane is shocked and overcome with joy when she discovers that you found her daughter, still surviving after all these years. She summons the best clerics of Asmodeus in the city to begin her daughter's recovery.
She presents the salamander ring to the Society, which discovers it functions as a ring of sustenance,, and promises to ensure the Society can access the necropolis in the future.
The other parents, upon hearing that there was a miraculous survivor after all these years, mob the Tri-Towers Yard in an attempt to gain access to the necropolis. Absalom’s city watch is called in to quiet the disturbance and sends in a team to search for additional survivors. Of course, there are none. Deris Marlinchen never leaves the catacombs, wasting away until he dies of starvation next to his daughter's spirit.
And that's a wrap. If anyone had any faction card things they want to attempt, please do so now. Chronicles will be up tomorrow.
