Working on Robin... debating between Vital Strike, which would be useful for all of his weapons, or Deadly Aim, which would make him far deadlier with a bow.
Tough choice, this.
On another note, he is probably buying a headband of vast wisdom +2, which gives him access to 2nd level spells, and so he could get barkskin for 40 minutes a day.
That will leave him a little more than 4600gp left to spend... Really debating whether I need to get his AC up some more, since he really does often need to go toe-to-toe, and his AC20 is a little light.

I am taking vital strike. Deadly aim may be prudent given the increasing difficulty
Ansel Meadsodden

Level 4 spells! Taking either Greater Spell Focus or more Spell Penetration. Needing to regroup after that and rebuild a good set of spells to prepare though.
Robin L'il
|
Ansley, suggestion for the future... always delve with see invisible active. Sure, once and a while it will wear out, but is an amazing spell. Just think, your glitterdust would not have missed if you could see the bad guy!
Robin will pass on a bulls strength for that upgrade of wizard!
Ansel Meadsodden
|
After suffering through a reality of not having that spell, I agree with you whole heatedly. Let us rejoice in having the things we needed last spire level in the coming one!
| GM..Kashka |
only one character has levels to 7.. i can't begin the next level until everyone advances.
Robin L'il
|
Robin's advancement is as follows:
Skills: Acrobatics, Handle Animal, Perception, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Stealth, Survival
Feat: Deadly Aim (to make Agriver happy)
Gear: Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2, Belt of Incredible Dexterity +2
I have already marked off his location on the land grab... and he is funding a new expedition!
Ansel Meadsodden
|
Feat: Greater Spell Penetration
7 skill ranks: Knowledge(Arcana), Knowledge(dungeoneering), Knowledge(engineering), Knowledge(local), Knowledge(planes), spellcraft, Craft(Sculpture)
1 more 1st level spell a day and 3 a day of level 4 now.
Picking spells while climbing tonight as well as gear. Suggestions are welcomed if anyone has a nugget of wisdom.
| GM..Kashka |
I have determined a life-sized block of marble costs ~3500 gold.
Using the Craft rules at +10... it would take Ansel about 11 weeks of 8 hours per day work to complete. at +15 it takes closer to 9.5 weeks.
as for spells.. 4th level has a great selection... just not for Transmutation.
Agriver Rall
|
Stoneskin, polymorph line..
Pearls... Rods... Ioun stones.. cloak of resistance
Ansel Meadsodden
|
Alright, Purchasing the marble and the wand of MM off the chronicle. Totals 4625gp.
Vala, how much does a spring loaded wrist sheath for the wand?
Vala Tinkersmith
|
Ansel - you pay 8 gp. You can use that messenger person I mentioned and I can come back a day early to work on them and have them ready for you as we gather to enter the spire.
And as I'm mentioning gold. I pay that messenger.
Agriver Rall
|
Did we want to kitty up some diamond dusts for stoneskin as well? Ansel take 500gp in dust from Agriver.
Robin L'il
|
we are already in the Spire... maybe next time. Plus, I am sure that Ancel has plans for his level 4 spells.
Ansel Meadsodden

Apologies for the poor posting performance this past 6 weeks, got into a heavy bit of work but it should be clearing out here in mid October.
I mentioned interest in the spring loaded wrist sheath and Vala retconned a means of contacting her after we entered the spire. What's the possibility of that item getting made before we entered this level?
Also I totally blanked on getting the spells transcribed from the 6th level's wizard book, would it be reasonable to run back to town and get those jotted down?
| GM..Kashka |
you did both of those things in town prior to coming down yes.
Agriver Rall
|
Marc and Windy - can you post?
Agriver Rall
|
Purchase: 2 Meditation Crystals
Purchase: Bracers of the Merciful Knight
Purchase: Scroll with two spells of Heroism on it
End cash 2,988.50
Robin L'il
|
Robin's plan, so far...
With last chronicle's expedition manager he will get a lesser rod of extend spell
Bow to +2 Adaptive: +6000gp
Scroll with Heroism x2: 2PP
100 cold iron arrows: 10gp
Efficient Quiver: 1800gp
That's it for now... considering 4000gp for a Pearl of Power II
(he is at 4032gp left with the above)
Agriver Rall
|
I will use 2 pp for my scroll like Robin since he just educated me..
And I will also buy a potion of spider climb
Ansel Meadsodden
|
Ansel will be purchasing some rods:
Lessor Rod of Toppling Spell : 3k gp
Lessor Rod of Reach : 3kgp
Lessor Rod of Piercing Spell : 3k gp
With GM approval, he will also have them setup like Agriver on a "key loop" attached to his belt.
Things on his hit list are:
Belt of Con +2 @ 4kgp
Upgrade headband of INT to +4 @ 12k gp
Ansel Meadsodden
|
Annnnd I am now realizing that none of those are core... back to the drawing board.
Agriver Rall
|
everyone level up and get that shopping/town roleplay done!
Ansel Meadsodden
|
It's looking like Ansel will just get the belt of Con at the moment. Everything that sparkles in his Wizard eyes is so expensive!
Robin L'il
|
As an FYI -- I should be receiving a 3500gp item this chronicle... it will be lenses of detection.
I thought it'd be very good to get another bonus to detecting traps, for example. :D
Agriver Rall
|
HEY HO LETS GO Level up and shop everyone
Ansel Meadsodden
|
Boom, Level 8 Ansel in da house.
Anyone interested is being enlarged?
Robin L'il
|
I think Robin is going to pick up a +1 cloak.... been forgetting to do it, and he has plenty of cash.
Agriver Rall
|
So we as a party now have several buffs available to us. Given that Yon is more active that will go up 10 fold.
Is there a better way to manage our buffs?
Ansel Meadsodden
|
All I can think of is tagline or appending a list to our posts
Robin L'il
|
I added a little tracker to the map page...
How does it look?
| GM..Kashka |
so i gotta tell you guys.. 6 1's on 6d4 is really impressive... but does it beat 4 1's on 4d20?
Agriver Rall
|
lol - this floor is cursed.
Ansel Meadsodden
|
That is brutal! Should almost have to roll a will save after that
Ethan Kaenes

so i gotta tell you guys.. 6 1's on 6d4 is really impressive... but does it beat 4 1's on 4d20?
How about rolling a 10d6+2 empowered fireball and only getting 33 damage?
5 1s, 3 2s, 4, 5, +2 class bonus, x1.5?
AUGH!!!

Vala,
I do not thing you can take 20 on disable device for traps, as there is a penalty for failing.
When you have plenty of time, you are faced with no threats or distractions, and the skill being attempted carries no penalties for failure, you can take 20. In other words, if you roll a d20 enough times, eventually you will get a 20. Instead of rolling 1d20 for the skill check, just calculate your result as if you had rolled a 20.
Taking 20 means you are trying until you get it right, and it assumes that you fail many times before succeeding. Taking 20 takes 20 times as long as making a single check would take (usually 2 minutes for a skill that takes 1 round or less to perform).
Since taking 20 assumes that your character will fail many times before succeeding, your character would automatically incur any penalties for failure before he or she could complete the task (hence why it is generally not allowed with skills that carry such penalties). Common "take 20" skills include Disable Device (when used to open locks), Escape Artist, and Perception (when attempting to find traps).

Fair enough. I can edit.
