Corrin Whisperwind
He hung there straining to follow the drop of his best friend and savior as he plummeted down. He wasn't even sure if his heart was still beating he was so frantic.
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
does dewdrop start to reappear in the six second turn span of corrin frantically looking while suspended?
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yeda would be with Evie in the "rabbit" room. Which one was that?
Jarl Purrun
Yes, that's close enough not to worry about. Anybody paying attention would see Jarl watching those rabbits with a certain . . . hunger in his eyes.
Corrin Whisperwind
climb dc 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
So distraught by the loss of his friend into the depths he quickly missed the rope entirely as he tried to shimmy across it. With a sudden yelp of surprise he did his best to right himself to be able to dive and knife into the water.

Sazzat Tamm
"Trouble outside with Corrin!" Tamm barks out to the others.
"Maybe the sea monster is back!"
He quickly moves to the gate and tries to see what's happening.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Corrin Whisperwind
He fell barely able to manage to hit the water the right way. He was really beginning to get mad about these goblins to be sure. Dewdrop had fell here and he began to frantically look for his friend. He knew the elk in theory could swim... but he wasnt sure how strong a swimmer he was and it was a long fall.
Jarl Purrun
"There's that sea monster, again . . .. How much trouble could he be in?" Jarl stops and his eyes go wide. "Or did you not get all of the goblins, yet? Let's go!"
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yeda tenses up and runs over to Tamm to see what's up when he opens the gate.
Evriani D'krent
Evriani tilts her head to the side as Yeda leaves the room, seemingly listening to something inaudible to everyone else. Her eyes narrow a bit and she spares one last glance at the rabbits before gingerly stepping over and around them to follow Yeda towards the gate, lagging behind her by a bit.

since this is a funky situation where rounds have to be tracked, i will say that we are "In combat", only for the sake of tracking rounds and abilities, duration times, and so on.
round 1
OOO now we get to have fun with drowning rules...So, consider this round 1 of your 24 round total limit before you start drowning. Although i am pretty sure youll surface long before you get to that point.
Everyone rushes out from the fort! Sazzat first, bashing hard into the large double doors and shoving one wide open! Bandit, hot upon Sazzat's heels, squaks and squeaks as he runs forward on all fours. Then Yeda, Loxley and the rest charge through.
Sazzat comes up to the edge of the island, to where the bridge was anchored to the dirt. He immediately spots the displaced dirt, and recognizes the trap that was upon the bridge.
The bridge hangs sideways, one side slack while the other side remains taut. it sways slightly in the breeze, unaffected by the winds passage.
Everyone looks around, the far side mainland, the nearside island, the bridge again. nothing. Heads drop to the waters below, eyes squinted, attempting to focus upon the waves below to find any sign of Corrin.
Everyone can make another perception check to find Corrin.
Jarl Purrun
Jarl lets out a low whistle. "Bridge broke. That can't be good. He in the water? Wait. You said sea monster, right? In the water would be bad then . . .."
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Yes, I am Captain Obvious. Obviously.
Zeldana Dardlara Amaria
Zeldana looked to Loxley and asked "Did you hear that too?"
However when Sazzat came in shouting Zeldana dropped the talk and ran out to the bridge to find it broken. "That isn't good..." She muttered.
Perception(going to aid Sazzat): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Yeda Wolfspirit
What in the hells else can go wrong in this cursed place... Yeda mutters as she scans the waters below.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Evriani D'krent
Evie looked over the edge with the others. "Is Dewdrop his horse, then?" she asked, imagining it would take a large creature to make the bridge snap that way, unaware of the trap that had been set off.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
She saw nothing in the waters below.
Loxley Geralt
Zeldana looked to Loxley and asked "Did you hear that too?"
”I did.”
Loxley confirmed even Sazzat entered with his cries of distress. She quickly followed the others out towards the bridge.Evie looked over the edge with the others. "Is Dewdrop his horse, then?" she asked, imagining it would take a large creature to make the bridge snap that way, unaware of the trap that had been set off.
"It's a deer ... or something. Corrin gets pedantic about his woodland creatures....."
”An elk, actually.”
She corrected even as she looked around for either the druid or the elk in question.Perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Yeda scratches her head with the hilt of her sword.
How long can he hold his breath under there?

Her sides were burning from the impact with the water already but when he saw the motion of his friend Dewdrop he began to move arms and legs moving in time as best he could. He had to get to Dewdrop. Maybe the fall had disorientated him, or maybe he was badly hurt, he couldnt let him just flounder when he was at fault.
swim check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
RIZZENMAGNUS
just to remind the old players, the sea monster was destroyed by Corrin in an epic cliff dive.
thats a hell of a roll, sazzat
Yeda Wolfspirit
Because Yeda doesn't want to repeat her prior fall, is there a safer way down than just slowly climbing?
Yeda Wolfspirit
Looks like Yeda is running back inside for that rope Corrin offered. Thank goodness he got it out before plunging into the water.
Yeda runs back into where they'd tied up the goblin and drags it out to the edge of the bluff, near the rest of the party.
Somebody watch him while I make better use of this rope!
Loxley Geralt
Loxley scanned the waters below without any success.
”Blast it all.”
She growled as she kept looking. Luckily Sazzat’s keen eyes spotted Dewdrop’s shape under the water. She cursed herself for not having anything in her spell book that would help.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Correction: Corrin thinks we would have already untied it after Yeda clonked it on the bonker.
Yeda grabs the spare rope from the recently-made-unconscious goblin and ties one of it down, throwing the other end down into the ravine.
Stop me if the bridge posts don't look like a stable anchor to Yeda.
Then, remembering her earlier fall, she halts and shudders.
So, um... who wants to go down first?
Also, how much height is left after 50' of rope?
RIZZENMAGNUS
40 feet from tip of rope to the waters below.
no worries. the rest of the bridge support looks solid as an oak tree.
The rope tied, yeda kicks the coil over the ledge, and it falls, uncoiling. It drifts lazily in the slight wind.
Jarl Purrun
"Normally I would be up for this, but I don't know how much help I would be right now. And whoever goes in is not coming back up this rope. Too far above the water. Do we know where there's a beach of some sort?"
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yeda sweats a little and gulps as Jarl defers.
Okay, guess I may as well face this head on.
She grabs the rope and starts over the edge.

How many checks to get to the end of the rope?

SWIM CHECK: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Frantic he began to try to swim to his best friend, so that he could help him calm down and get his bearings... unfortunately in his haste he made little progress.

ok. i hope everyone enjoyed their holiday time. But! that time is over! New year! New possible ways for DM torment upon the players! MWUAHAHAHAHAH!
Yeda, give me one more climb check then youll be at the bottom of the rope. In my mind, it's easier to descend a rope than to ascend, so youd move a bit more as you dropped in a controlled manner. of course, you could skip the checks...
swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
As everyone looks down at the waters below, they glimpse at first only froth and waves crashing upon the surface of the ocean. Eyes darting, everyone takes in the scene below, before finally Sazzat yells he has spotted Dewdrop.
A long moment, with a light wind blowing upon the air and ocean spray wafting up from the waters below, a creature emerges! breaking through the liquids surface, its brown colors create a darkened area upon the blue and whites seen below. Brown it is, and as it lifts higher above the waves, the water moves away, revealing hardened antlers and a familiar brown snout. a sound suddenly fills the gap between island and mainland.
it is dewdrop! escaping the grips of the blue waters.
the large elk screams and bugles its distress, and as it does so, begin to turn towards the mainland, swimming towards the rocky cliff face.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Climb (armor), DC15: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 4 = 13 Well...
I didn't think there would be enough time to remove armor. Perhaps that was the wrong call
Evriani D'krent
Evie leans forward and watches the situation unfold. She gives an apologetic smile to the others still on top of the cliff with her.
"Not much of a swimmer, I'm afraid. If I jump in it'll just be another victim in need of a rescue."
RIZZENMAGNUS
meh, ill give it to ya, yeda
Yeda slides down the rope slowly, her hands and feet gripping the rope tight. Lower she descends, until finally she reaches the limit of the rope.
Yeda: you can either do an acrobatics check or swim check DC 15, to make a proper dive into the water and not take damage from the fall.
You stare, a desperation of wanting to help filling your head. a powerful urge. Heavy it is. You look around, hoping that something, anything will stick out at you as a clue, as a means of offering assistance.
your eyes look to the right, to the ocean meeting the shore line, and see nothing there.
to the left you look, staring, again seeing shoreline and stone.
and then, you notice that which is in front of you.
the bridge.
It hangs, slowly moving in the wind. the slack of the rope support, the wooden planks, all catching enough of the wind to cause the bridge to move. you look at it, puzzled. Why is this capturing my attention? There's something to this. and yet, try as you might, the obvious reason eludes you.
back and forth it sways, a strange pendulum between two lands. back and forth, enticing you to see. what am i seeing? What am i..
You stop, taking a breath, closing your eyes, just for a moment. you calm yourself. your thoughts. your actions. You feel your heart, before thumping hard within your chest, now slows slightly. From steady to slower, it calms.
you open your eyes again. and look.
Rope supports the bridge. The bridge swaying. A funky sway to it. one side a little more rigid than another. The far end, still connected and held, this end, twisted and limp. A rope swings freely in the air. Upon said rope, a large knot, tied off onto something; it swings back and forth with the rest of the bridge.
suddenly Zeldana says out loud, more to herself than to the others, yet the others can hear Couldnt we reset the bridge?
