longspear: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Saul strikes again, and curses as the guard starts yelling.
| Zea of Kintargo |
Zea strikes at the guard, trying to end the threat quickly. "This is bad... This is really, really bad..."
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13
Dam: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 12
+2 if Saul and I could have 5 ft stepped to set up flanking by now.

If the guard steps toward him, Saul also gets an AoO.
longspear AoO last round: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 261d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
longspear AoO this round: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 261d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Jarithe the Hunter
|
Jarithe starts performance to allow allies to see through mist as a standard action and he moves up incorporating his performance into a comedy bit about Fhingle always getting lost or misplacing things or doing a trash job as a slave.
perform: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
| Foxy Quickpaw |
"I don't have time for this, get lost!" the dottari shouts at Jarithe and Fhingle and storms inside. (leaving the door open)
The other one stabs his halberd at Zea again, wounding her seriously.

Jarithe steps in the door and casts obscuring mist ensuring to include all the group into the performance to see through it and making sure he is at least past five feet of the guard who just went in.

Saul keeps up the assault on the wounded one.

| Zea of Kintargo |
Sorry, I think he missed me. My AC is 17. Am I missing something?
Zea swings back at the filthy dottari, trying to end this as fast as possible.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 29
Confirm: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 20

Extra dam: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 11
| Foxy Quickpaw |
For that one dottari the fight is over, after Saul stabs him and Zea chops off his head. With Jarithe joining the fight, the chances have changed dramatically. Everything is covered in mist and the one standing dottari can't really see anymore.

we are waiting on Cassius... bumping thread to give it a new post on the campaign tab!
| Foxy Quickpaw |
The single dottari who is still able to fight gets a bit pale. But there is no way out of this for him. He swings his weapon at Zea.
Halberd: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 121d10 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
The one stunned gets wounded, but doesn't die from Cassius' attempt at murdering him.

Finally Cassius manages to kill the dottari. But the other one uses the opportunity to swing his Halberd at Cassius. But lucky for him the weapon is deflected by the mage armor.

Zea steps up close to the dottari so he'll have trouble using his reach weapon on her. Then she casts a spell and strikes at him twice!
Hopefully he doesn't threaten within 5 ft. Will try to set up flanking with Saul, if possible.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 11Dam: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 9

But Zea's pretty unbalanced by seeing Cassius bash in the head of the other guard. These fellows aren't even necessarily evil... just doing their jobs...
| Zea of Kintargo |
Oh right. I always forget that because they should be reach weapons, imo. Well then I'd rather just make the one attack, which is a miss anyway, to avoid provoking. Up to GM.

Saul continues stabbing and hoping. This is taking forever. C'mon, Saul!
longspear: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 = 241d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
| Foxy Quickpaw |
Zea feels too uncomfortable in front of that halberd to manage anything useful. Saul has better luck and Jarithe also gets a stab in. But that won't slow doen the dottari. Stepping towards Saul he attacks again. But he loses his nerve.

| Zea of Kintargo |
Zea nods in appreciation. "Thanks!" She slices at the guard again, trying to end him as soon as possible.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 11
Dam: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8
But she's no better than the dottari!

We are lucky no one else is hearing this battle. This could have been the end of us!
| Foxy Quickpaw |
This battle is drawn out much too long. It is only a matter of time, until someone passing through the gate will notice that something is wrong. And everyone only denting the armor of the guy is not helping. Only Jarithe manages to get through with his spear.

coupe de grace: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (8, 6) + 8 = 22
Saul quickly stabs him through the heart.
"Let's strip them off all valuables and high tail it out of here; make it look like a brazen stick-em-up routine. The other coppers won't be able to make heads or tails of it."
| Foxy Quickpaw |
Saul prevents others of the group to wake the guard up again with their half-hearted attempts at killing someone, by doing it himself right the first time.
combat over.
The tower has no luxury, but it has some spare weapons in a rack and some food on the table.
| Fhingle Nib |
Fhingle helps to gather things up and leaves with Jarithe so they can keep up their ruse.
Once back
"What happened there? Maybe you could have walked out without a fight? We don't need to be killing guards during the day, someone could have saw us doing so." Fhingle almost scolds everyone.
Saul Gibson
|
"Now listen, you lot. It's not like we had a lot of choice here. They marched us to this room, and they were about to take our weapons and seperate us. They for sure would have found my Jackdaw costume and that would have been the end us. So don't be giving us shit about it! Could have happened to any of you. It's exactly what we talked about earlier. We need a better spot to stick these costumes when we aren't using them, and coming from outside the city, well, I don't know if we have a choice other than carry them in. Maybe the answer is we never bring our costumes outside the city."
As Saul grouses and complains he is busy stuffing the potions and chainmail in his already stuffed bag. "We need a magic bag of holding. Maybe that is the solution to all of this, including our costumes. Guess we can't even take these halberds."
Saul takes one of the bows and slings it over his shoulder.
i'll take it all but leave the halberds and the 2 bows, if someone wants to carry them, or we leaving them!
| Fhingle Nib |
Fhingle isn't much for carrying, He could carry the bows for his "master"
"Then we don't take them outside the city, we could have all been caught and that would have been bad."[/] Fhingle mulls over the magical back. [b]"Where are we going to get that? This city is working against us, we cannot just have Saul P.I who scrapes by toting around great magical items."
Saul Gibson
|
"Just looks like a bag, right? I don't know. Cassius, you know magic better than me. Think we could find a bag of holding here in town?"
Jarithe the Hunter
|
if the weapons are not marked with some city insignia Jarithe will sling a halberd over his shoulder as well as a bow and also will roll up a suit of chain mail and slide it in his backpack to help carry things.
hey I wasn't being hard on you, I was telling you we got lucky and we need to figure out a better way of doing this so we aren't taking as many risks. Lets get out of here
Saul Gibson

Saul also takes a close look at this gear. Is it recognizable as Dottari issue?
k local: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + 8 + (6) = 26
| Zea of Kintargo |
Zea wonders about the idea of such a bag. "But it would probably be discovered as soon as it is opened, wouldn't it? It would be useful, definitely, but not if we were searched. What about a false-bottomed chest? My cousin was a smuggler and he hinted that he used something like that. It would have a chance to pass an inspection."
52 gp. DC 20 perception to figure out that there's a false bottom. 25 lbs though, so it's the kind of thing we'd probably keep on a mount since none of us are exactly hulks.
Saul Gibson
|
"Right. Nice idea, sweet cheeks. Leave the halberds, J. No good carrying around a guard's weapon."
Saul opens the door and peeks out. "Let me see if the coast is clear."
