Well, I forgot to note this one important detail:
This petrification is temporary—each round, a petrified creature can attempt a new DC 21 Fortitude save to recover from the petrification as long as it is not caught within the area of effect of the gorgon’s breath weapon a second time while petrified.
But it's still pretty nasty, yeah.

Zachary's joints stiffen up as well as the gorgon's gas works through his lungs and into his system!

Hm, I guess that's an accurate reading. Sort of like poison, which almost everyone does wrong I think. I think you make a save when you first get infected and then again on your turn but most people (on the boards at least) just make the save on their turn.

I would've compared it to hold person I suppose, given the similarities. Speaking of, I would assume the new save takes an action. Does it not? If not, is the save at the beginning of my turn or the end? I would assume I don't get my turn one way or the other, but I'm certainly open to having a turn.

Take some time recovering and talking if you need it but here are the next few rooms to save time:

To the left of the bridge is a room which must have served as the oni's quarters. A huge, lice-covered bed squats in the center of the chamber. Hundreds of beetles form a living carpet on the floor. The chamber is also cluttered with objects the oni has clearly kept from many years past: a headband of alluring charisma +2, an offering bowl decorated with gold leaf and set with a pair of poor quality rubies (worth 300 gp), a gilded elephant tusk (worth 125 gp), a fine jade and silver rooster funerary figure (worth 100 gp), and a superb 10-panel painted landscape screen depicting the House of Withered Blossoms in a much better time (worth 750 gp).

Across the bridge is a stone ledge overlooking a cobbled stone plaza in a huge chamber. Forty feet above the ledge, a vaulted ceiling soars over the room, supported by great columns, some of which have collapsed. At one time the stone bridge crossed the chamber to the opposite wall, but both the span and the enormous archway it led to have collapsed, leaving a pile of shattered rubble on the floor twenty feet below. Frescoes depicting blinded ettins pulling obscene creatures on vast golden wagons, surrounded by slaves averting their eyes, cover the walls in a riot of extravagant colors.

Connected to this hall (once you lower yourselves in) is a small chamber in which water slowly dips onto the damp floor. However, a small, wilted bonsai tree in a simple pot sits in the middle of the floor. The endless drip of water from the ceiling has kept the tree barely alive thus far, but it will likely die without more light.

Past this small chamber are the remains of a broken bridge lying shattered in the waters of the underground river. Across the torrent, an open archway beckons.

Leaping over the rough water and through the archway, you come to another spacious hall: innumerable columns depicting writhing oni feasting upon fleeing peasants support this magnificent arched corridor, which vanishes into darkness to the east.

You carefully make your way to the end of the long hall and see ahead that the pillared corridor ends in a board stone platform overlooking a series of crude stone steps descending towards another waterfall. The mangled, rotting corpses of hobgoblins litter the floor and four hunched, reptilian beasts lope on two clawed feet, their eyeless heads dominated by a huge circular maw filled with jagged teeth. They hiss and spit as you near them...

DC 18 Knowledge (dungeoneering):
Despite its bestial appearance, the destrachan is in fact a creature of cunning and cruel intellect that enjoys inflicting pain and viciously toying with its prey. It has no eyes, and is completely blind, but possesses a pair of complex, tripartite ears it can adjust to different levels of sensitivity to sound, allowing the destrachan to hunt in absolute darkness as if it were able to see.

They have protection from sonic and, lacking vision, are immune to most effects which require sight. They can, however, produce their own destructive harmonics.

Jennix is frozen in place alongside the others but Terflynn springs into action cutting the party off from the creatures.

They're intelligent enough not to waste time trying to break it or take damage against it. So are you going to wait out the deafness and maybe heal for a few rounds and then dismiss it? Assuming that's what you do, Terflynn could dismiss as his standard and the others could then take their actions.

Terflynn draws a potion and drinks the contents greedily. "Tend yourselves." is all he says as he discards the empty vial.
