A small band of mariners find themselves press-ganged into service on the Wormwood, led by the fearsome Barnabas Harrigan. Will they turn their misfortune to glory on the high seas, or will folly lead them to an ignominious watery death?

Turning his focus to Sal, the Captain says, "Alas, m'lady, I fear you have mistaken me for a hwale. I assure you, I am far more agile."

Forgive me, but I don't see where he made this check. While he may have a high chance of succeeding, I'd still like to see if it did or not as the whole point of this maneuver was to attempt to stagger him to deny him a full attack action this round (which would therefore negated every single attack and move he did after his first). Need to know before I post because I need to confirm my position and damage.

Well, crap. I was hoping to avoid rewriting all of that. Sorry for missing rolling the save.

Going forward, would it be preferable for us to roll saves for foes if we know their bonus? I'll also try to be sure effects like that are better emphasized when I have a long post of actions.

Thren eyes the men and women around her with an evil, perhaps crazy grin And then she's in their midst, stabbing away. Her blade almost crackles with arcane power as she stabs into one large repeller and skewers him through the chest. Her speedy movements are too fast for the crew and her blade finds the next largest man and pierces his throat. All the while she's singing away, her song one of Andoran's own. Her last swing goes through the thigh of a Mwangi woman, knocking a third one down.

This whirlwind of terror disperses the crew of the ship in moments and pushes towards Sal.

Full attack with haste, took out the troop and then a five foot step towards Sal.

With Thren now adjacent to the already injured mate, and given their opponents'coordinated maneuvers, Sal decides it's best to get close to the mate as well to allow Thren to benefit from a flank. She clicks her heels to once again activate her boots and then cartwheels away from Thren to stand diagonally adjacent to the mate and directly 10 feet north of the captain (On my phone so can't move my square. Point is to get in a spot where Thren can flank the mate if she takes a 5 foot step south. And not trying to metagame--with these guys being so hard to hit, my priority is to get into a flanking position, because we need as many bonuses to hit as we can get. I can't flank this round but I can move so Thren can and she can still get a full attack on the mate. We can't flank the captain this round because of his vs our position without putting them into a better position to flank us in return. Full attack on captain
Swift action: arcane strike
Free action: maintain inspire courage

If he's disarmed, I doubt he can parry?

Indeed, without his rapier, he cannot parry.

Disarmed and injured, the Captain launches himself upward, showing that his calves are more than padded hose you might see on some dandies. He climbs a line and swings over Thren's head toward the hatch from which he emerged.

This is all flavor for his "enhanced mobility" class ability. With mobility feat and enhanced mobility class ability his AC for your attacks of opportunity is 34.

Sense Motive DC 27:
As much as anything, the Captain seems to be playing for time. He knows that his support ships will arrive eventually.

Suspecting the captain would try something either desperate, daring, or stupid--because that's what she would do--Thren is ready when he tries to disengage and pull back. Her sword catches him with a solid thrust to the side that nearly rips into a lung as he tries to swing away. Her smile is that of the cat stalking her prey as she flicks the blood off of her blade, what little that doesn't sizzle away.

Finish him off Sal :)

Forgot to note she would drop her harpoon as a free action to pick up the ranseur last round

AOO, with ranseur, inspire courage, haste, good hope: 1d20 + 15 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 15 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 34

Just enough!

Damage: 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (3, 1) + 8 = 12

Lol. F+*~ing Neon Sign of 1 HP left lights up

After giving him a good opportunistic poke as he flees, Sal, still boosted by the haste spell, sets her ranseur low as she charges the Captain before he escapes, shouting, "CAAAAA-NONNNNN-BAAAAAALLLLLL!". AC is 22 this round; charge movement + haste gives her distance she needs to get to him

Attack, Ranseur, Charge, Power Attack, Furious Focus, Haste, Inspire Courage, Good Hope: 1d20 + 15 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 15 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 40

She drives the spear through one end of the captain and lifts upward, using her thrust and the weight of his body so that he slides along the haft until the spear tip comes out of his mouth. Too graphic?

"That's for Luna's dad," says Sal, adding, "Say hello to hell for me." She lowers and turns her weapon to release the body, dropping it unceremoniously onto the deck.

She shouts down the hatchway. "Yer captain's dead so drop yer weapons and come out, or sink with yer ship!"

Sal turns to Thren. "We gotta move quick as I doubt they're without reinforcements."

"By reinforcements, you mean belowdecks or the three ships bearing down on us?" The bard asks. She looks around quickly. "Let's get this ship looted, the crew locked up, and get moving. I hope to get a couple trips back and forth before we have to get out of here. First things first though." She looks at the downed captain and his mate and quickly casts detect magic.

Not too graphic for me.

With the defeat of their Captain, the resistance of the crew crumbles for the most part. An older hand, grey bearded, raises a white towel impaled on a gaff hook through the hatch.

"We surrender! No need for further shedding of blood. You've killed all of the marines and the Captain."

Captain loot: +1 mithral chain shirt, +1 agile rapier, belt of incredible dexterity +2, cloak of resistance +1, headband of vast intelligence +2 (Sense Motive), family signet ring (worth 150 gp), personal jewelry worth 200 gp

Mate loot: +1 mithral breastplate, +2 darkwood heavy wooden shield, +1 hand axe, cloak of resistance +1, 3 masterwork throwing axes

The marines have plenty of items, but with your limited time there are better targets.

There are special rules for the ransacking of the ship to avoid it taking forever for you to search every 5 foot square. Because you were so successful in dispatching the resistance, you are able to search 7 areas of the ship. Choose those from the list below. Then describe how you are using the resources at your disposal, and I'll determine how things go from there. If you need hints I'll give them, but I'm curious to see how you go about it first.[/oocSen]

Everyone involved can make an appraise check.

Because it's Cheliax, Sal has to ask: "Any slaves down there?"

She will leave the decision of what to do with the surrendering crew to the captain, as well as where to search first, excepting needing to free anyone who might be locked up.

Appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Sal, whose most valuable possessions growing up were a fishing pole and a hand-me-down pair of sandals, has no idea how to sort through the valuables.

She assesses their general situation.

That was weird. I tried to edit my post and it posted a second post instead of changed the original. I deleted the second posting, which rerolled the dice of course (actually had a better result for Appraise, but I want to stick with the original results of course). The second attempt to edit worked. Not sure if I just somehow hit the wrong button or what. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

"I need more people over here to help loot and secure the ship." Thren comments. "As for prisoners, let's lock them up below-the galley will do. Though any that want to live a life free of tyranny, where their fortunes are their own to make, those can come forward."

Here's where I propose we look for valuables (plus check for slaves):

Brig (mostly for prisoners)
Captain's Cabin
First Mate's Cabin
Infirmary
Cargo Storage
Main Hold
Foreward Stateroom

Also, can I use my inspire competence bardic performance on the Appraise check?

Sal, add +2 to your check for the effects of good hope as it affects skill checks too.

You can use inspire competence.

Thren will be using inspire competence then.

GM, did the crew answer Sal's question about slaves?

Sal takes the valuables off the captain and mate, leaving the captain's body propped on the wheelhouse for the Chelish to find when the other ships come. She puts the goods for now in her haversack, carrying what won't fit.

"Doc, can you keep an eye out on deck for trouble as we search?"
