Another note: Bander is kind of rough around the edges...kind of like an Army Drill Sergeant in my head. I hope I don't offend anyone with his language. I will keep it PG-13. Please let me know if anything ever bothers you.
EDIT: Yayoo..i'm the first to reach the second page ;)

I'm not offended with language. I think keep F words, S words and substitute wench for "rhymes with witch" and we should be fine.
I'd like to keep it a little lighter content for anyone that may be following this thread, just in case. If he needs to say something offensive, I'm sure you can edit it (%$#@$), and we will get the jist of what is going on anyways.
On the issue of "Party Leader" I have no issues with anyone taking the lead. Bander isn't ever going to volunteer to lead anything unless the rest of you are so screwing things up he absolutely has to. And even then he might just make a rude comment and walk away ;o)

I'm playing a Half-Elf Rogue in another campaign...do you plan to go TWF or will you stick with one weapon? I'm kind of torn about which way to go...and any request for advice is usually met with "Play an Archaeologist or Urban Ranger...LOL!
Brayden - I included a perception roll for my cat familiar. Not sure how you want to handle things like that. My thought is that while we can not talk yet at this level I do have empathic link and thus if the cat senses danger (to itself or probably it's master) Bander would at least get a sense of that. But I will follow however you as the GM want to handle it.

Thaddeus:
I prefer TWF myself as I think it's more 'roguey' if that makes sense. Rapier and dagger or twin short swords work. I also like to start gearing for Shadowdancer but taking TWF feat sets that back a bit, but no worries. Could have gone human and gotten an extra feat, but didn't fit the concept I have for the char. Not being one to min/max, I tend to take feats that fit my concept over those that max skill / damage output and makes the char more fun to play. (hence I don't have a 'dump' stat.. but all the stats are balanced with an edge toward dex / int)
Hope that helps. Was much easier before feats / skills / traits.. heh.
Chrystrom - it is appropriate to roll a perception for the cat. It definitely can notify you of danger, and it is a smart thing! So it can be very helpful to you in those regards.
Thanks...we have some similar ideas I think. I struggled with taking TWF or Weapon Finesse at first level. I'll PM you my plan for feats through 12th level to get some if your thoughts. There's so much rogue hate out there it's hard to bounce ideas off of people without hearing "roll a ranger, alchemist or archaeologist."
Well I am off to work for the morning. Hopefully I'll be able to check in a lunch time and we will have an update ;) Can't wait to see what evil this cab driver has in store for us. :)

I'm off to a day-long meeting...it will be about as exciting as watching a rock. As an added bonus I will be in the far corner of the building and will have spotty wifi at best.
If I do post it will be via my phone...so forgive me if I'm not my normally verbose self! ;-)
If anyone has knowledge (local) it might be helpful to get a roll or two. Not sure how the GM handles knowledge rolls but they rarely hurt :)
Oh also rereading our assigned task it is not that we must get it all done in "one day" but just "as soon as possible". It might have been a good idea to have spent some time in the Lodge doing a bit of research or asking a few questions...too late now but something we can maybe do in the future to help ourselves with some info.

Just a thought, and I can suggest this surreptitiously in character if need be, but one of Ahzrin's daily extracts is Disguise Self. It might be fun to disguise as Auntie Baltwin, head upstairs to where some of the sick kids are, and potentially scope things out.
It just amuses me as a player to imagine this condescending half-orc disguised as a (by some accounts) kindly old matron, trying to scour for information.

Good idea, but this might not be the ideal situation to employ it, unless you are a fantastic actor :)
For example, she uses a cane, you don't have one, she's hunched over, even shrinking a foot, you'd be a foot taller than her, etc etc. Not saying it is impossible, just saying that this might not be the best application for your power.
It would be some pretty hard skill checks to duplicate her up close, and some pretty low will save DCs as a result of you failing.
Not telling you what to do, just explaining the difficulty of this particular situation. :)

Yeah thats pretty much what I figured. A fun roleplaying application but it would probably end up spelling disaster hah!
Sorry guys I had an official dinner event I had to attend last night and couldn't do any posting yesterday evening. I am going out with the family in a few minutes but should have time to do some posting this afternoon.
Until then, feel free to keep the story moving forward. Bander can stand in the corner grumbling to himself and Eli the cat will follow along with the ladies. Please take good care of him :o)

Sorry guys if I stepped on any toes with my post, but in thinking about Bander's personality this is really how I picture him handling it: "Let's cut to the chase...you have two choices. You want our help or not" sort of thing. Kind of like the Drill Sergeants I work with every day. Short and to the point. Hopefully I haven't screwed things up too badly :o)

If we want to just let bygones be bygones and head out, Ahz would be fine with that. He's not quite up to speed though, and given what he heard from the neighbors and now with Auntie's sudden disappearance, he thinks things are far more nefarious than they may actually be. Just holler to him and rein him in if need be. :)
Dang summoning the guard won't let us loot the place :) What is with the law abiding gnome? I mean finders keepers, to the swift go the spoils, and all that.

lol... I'm afraid if we just leave, Auntie will summon the guard herself and tell them a bunch of pathfinders just came in and looted her place. The fact that she's an alcoholic doesn't give us the right to do that, and if she reports first, her report will likely carry more weight. I figure if WE summon the guards, they will make a full report, return the medicines to whoever donated them, and we can take the temple's package back to them when we report back... The gold? well that'd be nice to acquire, but I figure there will be plenty of gold to be had in time. I don't want to get accused of stealing the stuff.

Just a heads up. Starting Weds I will be on vacation. For a few days at least, I will be driving about 10 hours a day and only able to post very late at night pst. So if you don't hear from me for long periods, that's why.
We will be staying at hotels with wifi, so I will check in as soon as I can after arrival each night.
This sort of schedule is likely to last about 13 days (we return on June 13th, so just giving a heads up -

Speaking of which.. Weekend of 30 June (Fri - Sun) I most likely won't be posting as there's a multi-gun competition I'll be going to. 'Zombie Pandemic 2012'. All targets are.. zombies :)
We seem to be at a bit of a stand still. Hopefully it's all good. Really enjoying the game so far. I think we have a great group of players and characters here.

I agree Bander. Having a blast so far. Newbie adventurers still trying to figure out how to function as a team and making newbie mistakes (like splitting up even though we, as players know better). I love it!

just posting here so you all know I'm still playing and alive... I am traveling and only have internet at night when we stop at hotels. But since Lore is busy with a multi-round action, not much need for me to post in the gameplay thread right now. :)
I want new PFS players, not a new "character" from already seasoned PFS vets. 2 reasons for this: The first is that I am new to running PFS (They don't have one in my area, so I basically just woke up one day and wanted to start one - as I watched all the campaigns I gm go slowly to hell with work pressures hitting my gaming group), and want to build up my experience with PFS rules adjustments, etc even when I'm not going through sessions IRL...
Also, I think PFS is a really good thing, and I'd like to bring some people into it that miss gaming, but don't feel like they can make a 2 year every other week commitment to a real life campaign.
PFS was much funner than I thought it was going to be. I can only imagine how fun it would be when the table isn't in a 4 hr time crunch to get it done.
Just an interest check, will update with more info if enough are interested/curious.
I would absolutely love this. I haven't even created my first PFS character yet, but there's not a whole lot of organized play in my area. I find the concept very interesting.
I have one PFS character who is 2/3 of the way through First Steps. I would like to get another character some XP...but if you'd prefer to run with 100% new folks I totally understand.
I am planning on running the "first steps" intro series. I ran the first intro last night.
I'd want 3 more players, I think - if any of my currnet players aren't interested, that is.
I run a "rise of the runelords" pbp, so you can get an idea of how I run from that, and also an idea of how a pbp works if you haven't seen them in action.
I'd be interested in playing a PFS via PbP, is that allowed? I have never played PFS before, though I'm not new to organized play, being a veteran of LC and LG. When are you looking to start?

It is allowed. They encourage playing, no matter how you are able.
I just need to be able to sign things when all is said and done, and get them back to you all, so we would probably have to exchange emails, as there is a paperwork side of things.
So, it seems like most my group wants to do it also, so I might be running 2 groups.
Aren't you all so spoiled?
I am going to wait for them to decide officially who all wants to play to know how many I am going to take, and I might mix a few of you into that group if they all don't play, and probably do this one here, too.
All of you aren't in, of course - yet. You have to do your homework :)
First thing is first: Download, Read, and re-read the FREE PLAYER'S GUIDE HERE. That is step #1. This is the setting of PFS, and the adjusted rules. If it still sounds fun, then get a player set up and get a player number HERE (follow the links to the right on the sidebar).
I will be picking the players by tuesday the 22nd, and we'll get started by Friday the 25th.
Now, just for the sake of being clear here (because the book does not say so explicitly), those 'other' humanoid races that are listed in The Inner Sea World Guide (ISWG)(such as Drow, Duergar, Tengu, Tieflings, etc), are they actually playable races in PFS games? Because that PFS Guide suggests we can use them, but there are not complete race entry pages for each of the races within the ISWG.

About 3/4 of the way down the list of the Additional Resouces page the allowed material from Inner Sea World Guide is listed. It doesn't look like those races are allowed...

THose races *are* available to play, but they are prizes they give away in conventions and such. They are something that you have to have an authorized number for to unlock. When you get the authorization they also give you rules about how to play it.
I would love to join a PFS PbP game. Never played PFS and only have tried Pathfinder a few times on another PbP site but both of those games died a quick death, usually from players or GMs dropping. I will get my PFS number and character generated later today.
I have a fair amount of PbP experience just not with PFS or Pathfinder.

This is NapalmBackflip. I've finally got a character created. A half-orc alchemist obsessed with learning everything he can. I've got to work out the background, but the stats should be complete.
If there's still a chance, I'd like to get in on it... If not, no biggie :)
I think it's too late on this one. I am running another that starts on wednesday. Go ahead and post in the discussion thread there under my GM name. I think we will need another player there.
Is the other scenario First Steps too? I present Filios for your consideration. He is a PFS character that has been through the Fallen Fortress only. Is there a spot for him, and what is the other thread called?
If your still looking for new Players I'd like to toss my hat in the ring. I've got my first game setup for GenCon, but other than that I haven't touched Pathfinder yet.
