Fuzzfoot and crew wait for the loading of the ship while sitting in the Ticklefish Tavern, nursing ales as they peer out the window. More and more sailors and dockworkers from the No Return come to the Ticklefish over the course of the afternoon until it is packed by the evening. Loud chorus-y sailing songs are being sung poorly by the drunk men and women of the No Return.

Hule signals to his party and they toss down some silvers for their malted beverages. Everyone stands up and begin to loiter on the dock. They see only two guards left on the ship and they are manning the gangplank. It appears that they look longingly at the Ticklefish, but they apparently got stuck with guard duty. Kazzak and Hule hang out by some off-loaded boxes, readying for war.

Fuzzfoot and Scarvane approach the men (different men than from before). We aren't interested in Razmir. Get out of here. Razmir's local outreach is very similar to the efforts of the Church of Latter Day Saints. True story. Fuzzfoot entrances the men with Hypnotism and convinces them that they have been relieved and that the local brothel, The Ticklefish Brothel, is running a special. The Ticklefish family is very diverse in its holdings. The men bound off, big grins on their faces and their posts empty.

A quick look back at the Ticklefish Tavern shows that no one seems to have noticed the intrusion.

"Nice work squat." Hule says as he moves to slap the halfling on the back, stopping when he realized he'd have to bend down. "Now let's move in quiet."

Hule sneaks forward and peeks into the hold from a barred entrance. He sees rows of sleeping slaves, chained to their oars, swaddled in filthy rags. Rats run rampant in the bilge's hold.

In the far corner, he sees that pudgy human from before arguing with two gnolls. One of the gnolls barks at the man and the other gnoll lashes the fat man with his whip, drawing blood from the man's shoulder. The man yelps in pain and seems to acquiesce to their demands, whatever they may be. Hule is too far away to hear properly due to the acoustics of the ship.

Hule whispers to the others assuming more than just one other "Looks like pudgy is under some pressure from a couple of gnolls. We should take them out."

If you keep watching, then you notice that the man you now know to be Pildapush is busy scribbling notes down at the direction of the gnoll who did not lash him in the arm.

Hule looks across to the other side of the hold and sees a woman in tattered clothes, locked in a pen. She is passed out and has clearly been the recipient of several lashings.

As soon as the group starts to enter, Fuzzfoot starts telling the epic story of the great rescue to inspire his friends...

How are you entering? It looks like you can take the stairs which will put you in the hold opposite to the gnolls and Pildapush or you can try to enter through the two loading grates that you are currently peering through.

Would entering through the grates give us any kind of advantage (such as surprise)? And are there more potentially armed individuals besides the gnolls (and maybe Pild)?


You don't see any other people besides the gnolls. One person would have to spend a full-round action to life the grate, but it might give the element of surprise if you acted in concert.

I used a Channel Energy after our last fight and was a high enough roll that everyone was back at full life or close to it. Was a roll of 6.


@Fuzzfoot: You will have to wait to Inspire for the first round as it will destroy any Stealth you have.

Scarvane will ready himself. Once we enter I will attempt to put one of the gnolls to sleep. Finish him quickly as I am unable to keep him under for long.

Scarvane stares down at one of the gnolls intently. The gnoll seems to nod off, slumping onto a bench and leaning against the side of the boat.

Jamamros lifts up the grate covering this entrance to the hold as Fuzzfoot begins to loudly proclaim the greatness of the Pathfinders!

Hule gets easily startled and forgets what the signal was while Kazzak and Puss rush in to confront Pildapush and the remaining Gnoll.

The larger gnoll stands up and lashes out at the half-orc with his whip, yelling in Gnoll at the Kazzak as he tumbles to the ground. All of the slaves chained to the galleys cringe and whimper.

The gnoll feels a bit woozy from the attempted hex by Scarvane, but he seems to shrug it off. The momentary pause by the gnoll, however, lets Fuzzfoot put a quarrel through the gnoll's upper leg. He screams out in Common. I'll sell you to the cannibals in the Mwangi, you pathetic halfling!

Kazzak gets up and orders Puss to attack while he likewise attempts to skewer the Gnoll with his polearm.

Stand as a move action. 5 ft step and attack. Puss moves and attacks. OOC not sure if shield adds to CMD if so the trip wouldn't have been succesful. But didn't really matter here... Since puss is smaller than the Gnoll her trip attemp needs to consider size.

Jamamros comes down through the grate, and strikes at the nearest gnoll hoping the combined efforts of Kazzak, Puss, and himself will be enough to bring it down.

Puss lunges forward trying to tackle the gnoll attacking her master, but fails to land a blow on the savage humanoid. Kazzak stands up and lashes out with his Naginata at the standing gnoll as Jamamros follows and tries to wallop him on the head, but it clangs off his shoulderpad.

Hule falters once more, scared of the gnolls.

The rear gnoll wakes up and reaches for his whip to trip the dwarf. Jamamros tumbles to the ground.

The injured gnoll wearing a captain's hat pulls his handaxe and lashes out against Puss. The handaxe savages the cat's flank, cutting deep into her flesh.

Jamamros shoves off the ground and regains his footing. He then takes a 5' step towards Pildapush and raises his axe up for a swing.

Yet somehow the dwarf manages to miss the rotund man and hit nothing but the air around him.

Kazzak lashes out at the Captain, but he is unsuccessful in striking down the gnoll in retribution for his attack on Puss. Puss lashes out at the savage humanoid as well, landing two relatively weak blows.

Jamamros stands up and moves to attack Pildapush, but he draws the attention of the Captain. Scarvane tries to Slumber him to prevent Jamamros from getting killed by the Captain's axe. The Captain pushes through the mind-affecting Hex and slashes Jamamros across the chest.

Hule charges the standing gnoll with his longsword, calling down a Divine Judgment of Destruction to cut down the gnoll.

The gnoll captain looks severely injured by the attack and is swaying woozily.

Jamamros:
Normally, I resolve turns in the way that they are posted which would mean that you would have been critically-hit by the handaxe, likely killing your character, but your profile shows that you are relatively new to Pathfinder and PbP, so I wouldn't want to kill you. Just remember that standing up provokes an attack of opportunity and that doing so next to a really big dude is probably a bad idea.

Jamamros takes the chance as Pildapush tries to move away to get a swing at the slaver with his axe. But the dwarf disappoints his ancestry with his inability to make contact.

After missing the attack, the dwarf begins to feel dizzy and pulls the wand from his belt that was given to him by Hule earlier. He proceeds to tap himself on the arm and allow the healing energy to spread throughout his body.

@Jamamros: You couldn't heal yourself while staggered as you get a standard or move action and drawing a wand is a move action.
