Significant Events of Adulthood #2

You were drafted during a war. In the military you were part of the light cavalry. You started as a rank 1 soldier and served for 4 years.

Combat - During your service they relied on your keen military strategy to win victories.

Horse - You were a natural when mounted and were good at training and breaking in a mount for riding and battle.

Forestry - You had some skill in trailing someone unseen.

Who you fought for - Your patron was a deity. You were picked because of a sexual interest in you. You are introduced to someone of the opposite sex involved in the same religion and you fall in love!

Ahh Love!: Roll d3 for number of events and a d20 for each one rolled

The deity requires you to perform criminal acts while under his service and eventually this leads to this deity being outlawed in that country/region.

Roll 1d20 to see whom it is against. Then roll 1d100. The Roll 1d20 for the crime committed.

Events during Enlistment: I made a mistake here so re-adjusting some

Event #1: You unit is ambushed by a superior force. You lose the battle, but you fought well and saved many lives and you are decorated for your heroism. You are promoted and made an officer. You can choose weapon proficiency if you don't have it already or weapon focus if you do on one of the following weapons for light cavalry (bow, longsword, shortsword, lance, javelin, axe, crossbow) or instead you can choose an armor proficiency you don't have or light shield proficiency.

Event #2: You re-enlist for another 5 year hitch (Man you are getting old!) Roll 1d4 for # of events during that time and roll a 1d20 for each one rolled. Then after all of that roll a 1d6

Thanks for joining us dw.

I think this will be an amazing group.

DW Final Background:

Summmary of background:

DW, take all this information and massage it how you like, we can talk about hooks if you want as well if you have any questions.

January 13th. You were born at Noon exactly in a remote location in a forest. You are born under the sign of the Thrush. You were born Illegitimate. Mother was raped and remained unmarried. Father's identity is known. (You can choose if you did anything about it). Your mother raised you and your two oldest half siblings, your brother who was oldest and your sister who was the middle child. Your mother never married and raised you on her own.

You lived in a "Barbarian Culture" (Barbarian cultures are dynamic and often highly educated societies with a keen sense of law and order. Organized but not dvelepoed (or degenerated) to the point of needing a strong central government.) Despite being on her own your family was well off and on the upper end of middle class. You had a larger home, a household servant (cook/maid), and had the means to travel via private transportation.

Your mother was the town's healer/herbalist. (Your culture's version of a physician). She is/was noted for her extremely unusual personality. She was allergic to the remedies she would administer. She was a pet lover and took in strays. She also was a pack rat and horded anything that came her way. She also had an unusual item that she never talked about, an exotic bound wooden staff/ (Masterwork and you can choose to start with it if you want to use it. Maybe it came from the Isle of Dread?)

At the age of 3 you made a new friend. Like your mother, you have a soft spot for strays. You find a male wild animal (your choice) and nurse it back to health and it befriends you. You have pretend conversions which make you more imaginative in life. (Also, could be your spirit animal if you choose Shaman)

At the age of 15 you have a religious experience. Out of curiosity from what you have heard you personally investigate and learn more about this deity. (Your choice what fits for you). In a vision your deity asks you to perform a sacred but dangerous mission. (Again up to you, but could be something related to this AP, like go to the Isle of Dread. It could be related to the years of military service, get together with your beloved, etc) However this experience causes you to be irreverent and mock the gods.

At the age of 18, you learn your mother's profession and begin to work with her or maybe she is dead and you take over her practice.

Between the ages of 18 and 24 you begin to hear voices inside your head. Claiming Divine inspiration, you form a new religion devoted to a previously unknown god.

I'm going to adjust the order of some of these things to work together a little better

At the age of 24 a holy war breaks out and you are drafted for 4 years. You are assigned to a non combat unit medical corp as a field surgeon due to your profession at the time. Your services were required for a longer period of time due to a major war breaking out and you stay for 4 more years. During that time your unit is ambushed by a superior force. You lose the battle, but you fought well and saved many lives and you are decorated for your heroism. You are promoted and made an officer (Corporal) and transfered to a light cavalry combat unit.

During this time you get trained riding and in a number of weapons and armor suitable for your position. You were a natural when mounted and were good at training and breaking in a mount for riding and battle. You had some skill in trailing someone unseen. During your service they relied on your keen military strategy to win victories.

Towards the end of your 8 years of service (6 to 7ish years in) you are involved in a major battle. The battle is lost on your side, but your heroics are noted and you are decorated for your heroism. You were promoted to Sergeant, the highest non commissioned officer rank.

After being promoted you find out that you were hand picked due to a sexual intrest the deity you are fighting for has in you. You are introduced to someone of the opposite sex devoted with this deity and you both truely fall in love! You are perfect together and your beloved inspires you to greatness! You re-enlist for another 5 year hitch to stay together.

Through her you get special assignments from the patron deity. The deity requires you to perform criminal acts while under his service. The worst one is that the deity required you to falsely accuse a friend or companion of heresy that led to their death by burning at the stake. (or similar execution that seems to fit or maybe done personally by you before the truth could come out). You are not connected to the crime at all. However you cause the death of your beloved. She was driven to suicide by something you did. (maybe being the mouthpiece of the deity and driving you to do bad things made her do it to set you free?) The general public did not blame you for it, but you might blame yourself.

After 13 years of service and at the age of 37, you had enough and left service. Taking your retirment bonus you leave and at some point end up in Eleder in Sargava.

"Greetings, and I trust this missive finds you in good health! My name is Lavinia Vanderboren, and I humbly request your attendance at dinner at my estate on Festival Street and Blue Skink Lane tomorrow evening. I think I can present you with an opportunity uniquely suited to your skills. Please inform the carrier of this letter of your response to this invitation, and I hope to be speaking to you soon!"

Lavinia Vanderboren

Bonus Mechanical adjustments:

150% to starting money + 54 gp (If Shaman that will be 324 gp I believe)

Sign of the thrush Trait gained (1 bonus on Perform (sing) checks, and Perform (sing) becomes a class skill for you.)

+1 to Natural Armor but Blinded in the dark (No Dark Vision or Low light if your race has it, and even magical sight to see in the dark does not work on you).

+1 to heal and it is a class skill for you.

+1 to ride and it is a class skill for you

+1 to survival and it is a class skill for you.

+1 to stealth and it is a class skill for you.

You gain one extra skill rank of your choice at first level only.

Free Masterwork Staff (If you choose)

You can choose a weapon proficiency if you don't have it already or weapon focus if you do on Four of the following weapons for light cavalry (bow, longsword, shortsword, lance, javelin, axe, crossbow) or instead you can choose light armor proficiency or light shield proficiency.

You can choose to retain your armor and weapons from your unit when you retire from service, but that will cost you half the cost of those weapons and armor. (Only those from the list above)

DW, here is everything put together and I re-arranged it some, but of course you can do with it as you want (The raw data is on the combat tab under a spoiler in your name). There are some choices there still to make, up to you on those, but I have some ideas as well. Let me know if you want to talk about massaging some of that.

Great thanks! I'll start working on it, and when I feel I have enough of a handle, I'll jump on the IC thread.

Does that work?

@Chainmail: Thanks! I really look forward to it.

Works for me, you'll be the last guest to arrive once you post!

Ok, There is a lot to process...

I'll go ahead and start posting now, or I will in a week(!). I'll add background bits as I go along.
