Jokbur 'The Thorn' Oakenshield
You went east down a hallway from there and passed a door, went down a couple steps and then back up a couple steps 10' later. The passageway turned north and you found a ladder leading back up to the first level (One of the pools that had an illusion hiding it)
Jokbur leads everyone to the illusion hiding the ladder. Climbing down the ladder, he heads down some steps, up some steps, and toward the unexplored door.
"I wonder what is in here? Hopefully no glue!!"
Quickly listening and checking for traps, he opens the door.
Taking 10 on perception

I'll update the map on the second level over the weekend as I have Friday off so I should be able to sneak some time that day between Thanksgiving Dinners on Thursday and Saturday
You head back to the mouth in the morning and back track to the room with the pools in it. Heading down the ladder under the illusionary water you find yourself once again on the second level.
You remember you passed a door before and decide to check that out versus heading north up the hallway with the multiple doors. You head south, turn west, head down the short flight of stairs past the wet landing below then back up a short flight of stairs to continue down the west hallway to the door. Jokbur checks the door and is satisfied it is not trapped. Opening it up reveals a hallway going south that soon turns to the south east then 10' to the east before ending at a door. Jokbur checks out that door revealing no traps. Listening he hears the trickle of water.
Opening the door you see water trickling from a crack in the ceiling in the eastern side of this room, where it gathers behind a thirty-foot long stone dam that is about a foot in height. (The dam is 30' from the door) On the eastern wall, on the far side of the gathered water, there is a black stone in the wall, with a bronze handle set into it. It is ten feet above the surface of the water (the room’s ceiling is fifteen feet high).
Quirmydt Dephroug
Qui looks to the others.
I doubt the water is safe. I can attempt to climb the walls if you want.
Jokbur 'The Thorn' Oakenshield
Jokbur looks quickly on the threshold for threats and then approaches the water and attempts to see how it works.
Take 10 perception at the threshold and 20 at the device
"I have little experience with mechanical devices that are not traps."

Jokbur approaches the water and as he comes up to the dam, it begins to move. The "dam" appears to be some sort of stone snake.
Quirmydt Dephroug
Seeing the creature begin to move, Qui steps into the room, Move to -AE/39, and readies to attack should this creature move toward them.
Swift - Assume Crane Style -- AC25
Jonas Hearth
Move to AD39
"Stone snake. That's new." Jonas says, moving in to defend his allies.
Aid Another AoO (bodyguard): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 Fail.
First ally to get attacked doesn't get the AC bonus from Bodyguard. :(
Readied Attack: Hit it if it gets aggressive and comes into range: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
AoO, if it passes through my threat zone: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Ariella Hearth
We rested since the spider battle, yeah?
Ariella holds off for now, waiting to see what the construct is doing, "It might be luring us into the room so it can drown us. Be careful. We'd be better served holding at the doorway. Jockbur, Qui, get back here."
Despite her words of caution, she grasps her holy symbol. Ariella brings the words of a blessing to her lips, ready to aid her companions.
________________________________
5' step back.
Ready an action to cast Bless if the "snake" attacks one of the party, or makes any overtly aggressive moves besides moving.
Quirmydt Dephroug
Posting in the alternative dependent upon whether Jokbur can withdraw.
If no withdraw:
Seeing his friend under attack, Qui hops forward to attack the construct.
Move to -AE/43.
Fight Defensively: AC25
Using Crane Style
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
If Jokbur can withdraw:
Qui stands his ground and readies an attack using the above roll.
-->If the construct moves and then the liquid starts to flow toward him, Qui will move back as far as possible staying as the last line of defense when the others withdraw.

Round 1
Ariella sees the giants stone snake grab Jockbur in its mouth, crushing ribs and fracturing arm bones. "Jockbur!" she cries out in shock. She releases the blessing she'd been holding.
I five foot stepped back, but you didn't move me on the map.
Round 2
"That thing can reach all the way to the door, GET INTO THE HALLWAY JONAS! Jockbur, I can't heal you from here, try to get back."
While she's waiting, hoping the others will listen to her and retreat into the hallway, Ariella pulls out her crossbow and fires it at the construct.
Attack (Bless): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10
Her bolt shatters harmlessly on its stone hide.
Edmund, Knowledge (Arcana) to see if it's immune to fire?
Edmund Gwenn
His Knowledge check was a 28. The one roll should be good enough for information like that, though GM said unique construct, so there may be no way of knowing.
"Jokbur, Qui, wait! Everybody stop attacking it!" Edmund calls out.
Edmund casts a spell, causing an illusion of a stone wall to appear between them and the construct, hoping the thing, having no intelligence, will be fooled.
Jonas Hearth
Amended action.
Jonas moves in, grabs Jokbur and Repositions him back behind him, protecting his friend with his shield. "You're going to be alright. Let's get you back to Ari.
Movement from Reposition doesn't provoke. I assume Jockbur doesn't resist.
Jonas moves to AD41 and moves Jockbur to AD40. Then, if the snake attacks Jockbur again, Jonas provides him with an additional +2 AC bonus.
Quirmydt Dephroug
Qui will move in and fight defensively as posted in my last post..
Quirmydt Dephroug
Can't you deflect one attack per round? I did not realize that you could not block AoO.
Quirmydt Dephroug
Doh - - - ignore that, I thought Jokbur had Crane Style and Crane Wing. I am the one who has that. It was another campaign that I was thinking about.
Quirmydt Dephroug
Yup - I posted my attack. Here it is.
GM Blood
Ah! Missed it!
Quirmydt moves up and connects with the wall, but unlike Edmund's arcane bolt, it seems to have no affect on the construct. Edmund attempts to put up an illusory wall, but it doesn't seem to be affected by it.
Herman continues to guard the back row.
The snake construct attack Quirmydt
Snake Construct vs Quirmydt: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 *Hit* Assuming you are going to crane wing it
Damage: 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
You notice there is another retaining wall behind where the snake construct was so no water is coming towards you all
Quirmydt Dephroug
Qui will continue to fight and defend himself against the snake.
Seeing that his weapon is quite ineffective against his monstrosity, but that he is able to avoid the creature's attacks, Qui continues jabbing at the creature while dodging and weaving to keep the snake attempting to attack him.
I will continue to fight defensively using Crane Style/Crane Wing.
AC25
Attack-scimitar: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 <-- stupid confirm roll
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Quirmydt Dephroug
I think the only one hurt is Jokbur. Qui is just having fun playing with the snake. He used to play with flies that way as a young pollywog.
Ariella Hearth
Yeah, but Jockbur is very hurt. And I'm not going in there to heal him. We need to retreat to the hallway and kill it with ranged attacks. Qui is the only one who can go toe-to-toe with it, and all he'll be doing by staying in there when the others are out is giving those of us without precise shot a -4 to hit.
Quirmydt Dephroug
The -4 to hit is pretty irrelevant with its DR. I think that unless you roll a nat20 with a bow, there is little chance of doing any damage. Probably requires adamantine.
Also, I do not know whether you will take a -4. The snake is huge and really long. Qui is like just over 1' tall. I think that you do not take the -4 if the target has any part of itself in a non-threatened square. I could be wrong though.
Ariella Hearth
Oh yeah, I forgot about that rule that Edmund pointed out in our last fight. I plan on using fire bolts, which are touch attacks and should bypass its DR. Next round I'll start pew-pewing. Hopefully it doesn't also have fire resistance. We can always rest outside the door and attack it again after regaining spells. Constructs shouldn't heal naturally. At least normal ones.
