First post will be up tomorrow night! Most likely around 930-10pm Eastern Time.
GM Bearington |
Tagir, try the link again. Hopefully I fixed it!
Tagir Mohandis |
I apologize for not posting lately. I have heat exhaustion, and it's a lot more draining in real life than in Pathfinder. I don't even have the mental energy to watch a movie without taking a nap.
The good news is that two days of rest and lots of water is all its supposed to take to recover, so I'll hopefully be back on Tuesday.
GM Bearington |
No worries Tagir, hope you feel better soon!
Ulena Teladra |
Ditto, that sounds awful, good luck with the recovery.
GM Bearington |
Evariel: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that you have to ready a specific spell to as part of your readied action.
Evariel |
I don't really know. The rules are not very specific, and all I can find on the subject is one thread of people arguing about it. There seem to be more people on the "specific spell" side than the "any spell" side, but nothing definitive.
But just to err on the side of caution, I'll specify readying a daze spell.

Tagir Mohandis |
I go off the list of general actions in chapter 8 of the CRB. So for example, the possible standard actions which somebody could ready are:
- Attack
- Cast a Spell
- Start/Complete Full-Round Action
- Total Defense
- Use Special Ability
I don't require a specific sub-category within those choices, unless it is one specifically called out in readying, i.e. bracing for a charge.
Dragos Albescu |
Just wanted to make sure my Divine Favor casting in the surprise round was tracked - you didn't mark it under Active Effects or next to my name in the initiative block.
GM Bearington |
Well that's pretty sweet! No worries then Evariel, I have always gone under the assumption that you had to be specific about your readied action, but if the rules list general actions, then general actions it is.
Dragons, I saw your divine favor. I forgot to add it to the tracker, thank you for pointing that out!
For the record, the active effects will be group effects like bless and inspire courage.
Gameplay post will come in ~8 hours.
GM Bearington |
This is a big family holiday weekend for America, I'll give Tagir until tonight before botting.
GM Bearington |
Tagir: In face to face games, how do you inform the DM that you aren't adding a bonus to your rolls for the target being prone? Do you think something like, "That's a 24 to hit vs their prone AC," would get the point across?
GM Bearington |
I apologize for my absence, had less time than I thought today :/ I'll update the gameplay thread tomorrow!
Evariel |
If anyone would rather I dial back the condescension, I can. Evariel's the first "one of those elves" I've ever played, so I'm trying to make sure it comes across as not intentionally rude. But not everyone likes dissension among the ranks.

dont dial back this is the whole part of RPing! I get a good chuckle when I read the posts going on in this group
Ulena Teladra |
Ulena is mildly offended, I however am not. Like the others said, it makes for some good fun RP wise. Keep it up!
GM Bearington |
If you wish, feel free to come up with a description for any/all of the outfits/jewlry/etc in your rooms! :)
Evariel |
Good to know, just making sure. :-) I'm sure we all have stories about Pathfinders who were a bit loose on the "Cooperate" part. Wouldn't want to make things less fun for anyone.
GM Bearington |
No worries Dragos, there has mostly been rp type stuff going on!
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
FYI: The newest addition to my family is imminent. If you find I'm gone for a couple of days without warning that is the reason why.
Ulena Teladra |
Congrats!
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
Thanks Evariel. Number two. :) Fortunately I don't have the first time parent jitters.
GM Bearington |
CONGRATULATIONS! :D Thank you for keeping us in the loop. You will be botted as needed. Enjoy welcoming your second child into the world! :)
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
Congrats to you! GM Bearington would have a better idea but I don't think we will the pace is moving along pretty well. Got an active group here which is great.
GM Bearington |
Sorry for the huge block of text there. Lots of information to cover. I will go more into the mechanics of the events tomorrow! :)
Does anyone have a chronicle sheet from 6 - 98 Serpents Rise AND earned the Spoils of the Siege (Rataji) boon?
Ulena Teladra |
I played Joliryn. I don't suppose you know which scenario she re-appears in do you?
Tagir Mohandis |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I played Joliryn. I don't suppose you know which scenario she re-appears in do you?
And they all appear in #7-98 Serpent's Ire.

Here is a brief rundown of the rules for the events you will be attending:
We will be utilizing a trimmed down version of the influence system presented in the Ultimate Intrigue Book.
The goal of these events is to achieve influence over the other bidders. This is performed by making a successful check while interacting with the bidders (DC and relevant skills determined by the bidders' social stat block).
At the beginning of each event, you may roll a knowledge check to recognize the bidders. Which check is determined by their stat block and I will ask for these when during the first event. Succeeding will provide a bonus for everyone towards discovery checks vs that bidder as well as a little more insider information about them.
From there, everyone can choose to make either a discovery check or an influence check. YOU ONLY GET ONE CHECK FOR EACH EVENT, so choose wisely. Slide 6 will have a chart that you all can use to track/record your findings.
Discovery checks are used to try and discern something about the bidder. The list of possible information is their strengths, weaknesses, or the skills that can be used to influence them. A successful discovery check provides you with one item from the chosen area. For every 5 by which you beat the DC, you can learn an additional piece of information.
Influence checks are made to gain influence over a bidder. Only one check to influence a bidder can be made at each event. Additional checks function as an aid another. To be clear: you may all make influence checks, but if they are on the same bidder, one person is the lead and the others will be attempting to aid you. If you beat the influence DC by 10 or more, you gain either choose the benefits of two successful influence checks, or one successful influence check and one successful discovery check. Failing by 10 or more prevents the PC from making influence checks on that bidder for ALL EVENTS. You only know if you were successful if you beat the DC by 5 or more.
At each event, you will be able to interact with the host. Succeeding will give you a variety of bonuses for the remainder of the scenario.
Each event will also have slight modifications to these rules that will be announced during the event. Examples include the opportunity for extra checks, and circumstance bonuses to certain skills.
In the gameplay thread, your posts should include:
1. Recognize check
2. Type of check you are making
3. Who you are making the check on
4. RP
If you want to interact with the host, you may include this as well. Beginning an interaction with the host will earn you what skills to positively influence them. If you do not choose to make a check vs the host, nothing happens (this is a no risk check).
I will post a gameplay post tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions regarding these rules as they are very important to the rest of the scenario. Please leave a comment in this thread to let me know you have at least read this post.
