Arma - And what if I place more points into the force screen, increase DR by 1? And is there a max?
PFFO Skill Clarification:
Use Mechanical Device - Kora used CHA for the main attribute, however it should either be INT or DEX (to avoid bloody knuckles). The reason why Use Magic Item is CHA based is because it uses your innate ability to use magic like a Sorcerer or a Dragon. I just feel that Use Computer and Mechanical Device would be INT for both or INT\DEX respectively.
Now for Use Computer - does this cover all the uses of a computer like hacking or just the knowledge on how to turn it on and interact with the GUI\CLI. In the real world and you are not in IT, it is actually two separate skills. In Fallout, as most of you know, it was only 1 skill.

More things to clarify:
Detect Psionics becomes Detect Technology? As long as I remain Tech Focus (aka Psionic Focused), I can detect anything with a circuit board in the Detect Psionic range at will.
Spellcraft becomes technocraft, the usual roll and results as spellcraft except it is with technology. I can tell what is about to happen even if the signs are not obvious to the untrained eye.

Thanks Terry I made the appropriate changes! :D
Yeah it would be interesting to know if the computer skill was two different ones, but then we may be making it kinda redundant in a way. As Survival is a skill that could have several sub skills associated to it but it covers broad range as well.
With more IT based checks Arma can just up the DC by a certain amount and make it more difficult. The only thing i'm wondering is what classes have Use computer as a skill? Or is it just Darius? ;)
I changed detect evil into Detect Ill-Intent :P Same thing but identifies those who wish you harm since we are in a karma based instead of alignment based system. =/

Just an update and to show you guys I am still alive: Deirdre is done and ready for viewing. I updated prit'near everything-ish.
So happy to see you go Undead Lord, Winter :) Hope I didn't peer pressure you! ;)
As for suggestions with computer use, I'd keep it one skill and just associate the different uses with higher or lower DC's, rather than creating a whole other skill that needs to be invested in.

Alright, lots going on...
DR won't have any real limit, no, but keep in mind it's still only half against some melee weapons.
I'm not sure where the Use Mechanical Device skill is coming from, unless it's an adaptation from Use Magic Device for a class? Either way, Use Computer (and UMD) will use Intelligence here. As for class skills, anyone with UMD on their skill list gets Use Computer, and perhaps others as well. When I check through all the new and improved characters, I'll let you all know who's got it.
Use Computer covers complex commands and hacking; most anybody is able to perform routine controls on a console.
Detect Technology sounds fine, though it'll mainly detect powerful technology and computers (and robots).
Technocraft also sounds fine. Maybe just call it Knowledge (technology) since that's basically what it is? Either/or, your choice :)
I'll check out new characters, and I also found my notes on Perks, so I'll get those up later today or tomorrow.

For Kora and Darius, I would add Milspeak as one of your free languages. Perhaps, Darius' will be Pre-War Milspeak and the BoS Brothers will have BoS Milspeak? What I mean by Milspeak, is speaking in acronyms and slang that a civilian may not know. For example, "Hey man, the scuttlebutt has it that the new XMPT-4000 has the range of 1000 clicks and can clear a grid square!"
scuttlebutt = rumors
XMPT-4000 = A made up indirect energy cannon.
1 click = 1,000 meters
grid square = On military maps, there is a square. These squares are called grid squares. They are usually equal to 1,000 meters.

PERKS~ :D
I'm going total skill monger... Just warning everyone >.>
<.<
Certain skills will be off limits or regulated so that I don't step on peoples toes but I think I am going total crafter with my guy. :)
Yeah the normal UMD was changed to Mechanical since there isn't anything magical here and it fits the Fallout theme. Also I was under the assumption that Knowledge Technology was Darius only because he was a Pre-war guy and we are post war so he would have knowledge of TEch as it was and we are rediscovering tech now.
Dunno how that will work. =/ I just know that my craft skills are going to eventually be insane and had I taken an analyzer as a greatwork then i'd be able to add my class/2 to my knowledge checks as well xD so crazy!

Perks will be gained at every level, though some will only be available every so often, and many have prerequisites, most of which are level-based. As for milspeak, I'd be cool with the characters simply knowing that; you can use real milspeak or make up your own and spoiler it. Right now, only Kora, Terry, and Darius would know it generally speaking, although some newer terms even Darius wouldn't understand.
Darius Darkblade aka Legionare
Already had milspeak terry. But thanks for idea. Also I'm running behind do to working doubles this week. My boss broke his head trying to show off on the skateboard he bought his son. (I like my boss but damit man your 40) so I'm running first and working a 10hr third but this is my last day for the week. So will sleep like a baby tomorrow and then get everything up before I go party for my bday on sunday.
And I probably have some older terms they wouldn't know do to them falling out of the langue with disuse or they mean one thing to them and another to me.

Happy birthdays, role-play brethren! Make it special!
Krav Maga is an awesome combat style. If I were to join a school, it would be Krav Maga. Money is unfortunately a huge issue. I guess I can watch Youtube videos and learn on my own time for free ;)

Thanks and though I now have to work tonight tomorrow is gonna be wild. The day kicks off when I wake up at noon. My gf finished finals early and will be waking me up when she gets home. Be the first time I have seen her since Christmas. ;)
Darius Darkblade aka Legionare
I will I plan to cuddle for an hour or so just cause I haven't gotten to hold her in so long its what I hated the most about her being away lol. Then out to my favorite restaurant where my fav bartender has to work its her bday to so we are gonna close cribbs down take her and friends and go carousing. First time I have been out since well last bday lol.

Ha, sounds awesome, Darius! Hope it's as awesome as it sounds!
Also, a check-in to let you all know that I have some family visiting for Mother's Day, so I don't have much time to post. I might get some in at school, but I probably won't be able to post from home for a few days. I'll try and get the perks list in here during that time, but it might be a bit. Once my schedule goes normal I'm planning to move onwards!
GM Armadillephant
It means I got here, but the arrival has its own meaning, guys.
Sorry for the absence--it was much longer than intended. I really only was going to be away for a few days as family visited. Then the hammer of life came crashing down--AP tests, school work as the year comes to a close, trying to find a summer job... Things piled up. As such, it's been two weeks since I even got on the forum.
Now, I'm trying to patch up where I am on the boards--I'm thinking I'm going to have to drop several games I'm in, just to keep my sanity and everything stable. However, I really enjoy this game, playing with you guys, seeing all the interaction and character work here...
However, I do have to say that I'm a bit of a perfectionist, if a lazy one and a procrastinator (not sure just how that all fits together, or if it makes sense, but that's how I see myself anyway). And while I think this game is going really well, I feel like I'm not doing a great job. I'm constantly revising rules, putting things together as we go along... Heck, the adventure we're using is adapted from an old 3.5 module I have.
My point is that I want this game to keep going, but I'm not sure I want it to keep going like it is now.
So here's what I'm thinking.
This game itself goes on hiatus for a little while, perhaps. I will spend time (more free time should be headed my way after graduation) working on the many ideas I have, nailing this all down into a final form, working out kinks of transferring a roughly medieval-fantasy game into a post-apocalyptic setting, incorporating other elements.... Into a final product, which I will then bring back to you guys.
Throughout the whole process, I'd like to work with you all, so I'd probably keep this thread at least active, or create a new one and bring us all there. I don't want to stop the interaction or work--but the mechanics of the game seem wonky and needlessly complicated to me at this point.
Of course, if none of you guys feel that way and just want to continue, we can do that, too. It's your game, after all!
So, I pose that idea to you all, and once again, I apologize for my extended absence. I really, really hope this won't happen again.

Alright, sounds good! I'll share what my ideas are thus far.
Small and Big Guns will come from the web site for "The Modern Path," a Pathfinderized take on D20 Modern. They have a wide range of modern weaponry listed, and it's actually what I was basing my own listings off of. Since we've changed canon to the modern day, more or less, this should be fine. I'll still draft up tables for Energy Weapons and Melee Weapons--probably just the ones I had, though slightly modified. Of course, all costs in caps will be figured out, probably by comparing an item to something on the Wiki.
We'll still use the Armor and Clothing from the Fallout Wiki as we have been.
If/When vehicles show up (outside of any class features like Kora's plans for his Greatwork), they can probably just be pulled from The Modern Path.
Many, if not all, of the feats on the Modern Path will also be brought in to this game.
As much as I hate to ruin character builds that have been put into effect, especially after allowing gestalt, I think that things have gotten very clunky and confusing for a lot of people. We can stick with gestalt if you'd like, but I'm going to revise the class list and offer some new options.
Allowed PF Classes are the following:
Alchemist, Barbarian, Cavalier, Fighter, Gunslinger, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, and Rogue.
I'm also going to create two new classes for the game: the Artificer (which will be focused on manipulating old and new technology, and will replace the Wizard) and the Splicer (who will focus on manipulation of genetics, using the Bioshock-type gene enhancements I mentioned a ways back, and will replace the Sorcerer). Both will be revising the magic system of Pathfinder for usage in this setting, though in different ways. Also, rest assured that they won't be as crippled by x/day restraints at low levels.
And, along with the Splicer, I'm going to iron out my plans for Gene Tonic/Plasmid-inspired genetic enhancements (BTW, I need cool names for those that AREN'T just drawn from Bioshock, so any suggestions are wonderful!).
As before, I'm open to suggestions and 3rd party stuff--for example, Kora, you're still good to go with the Machinesmith if you like--so if you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please shoot 'em my way!
As it is, we'll have to decide if we want to continue from where we are or start a new storyline or WHAT once this is all figured out.
Darius Darkblade aka Legionare
Is aegis still good to go for me? It much gives me power armor I can tweak.....
Also did you ever finish the perk list I was holding off on my final edit til we had access to that I didn't want to see something a have to rearrange the whole thing for it.
And sorcerers are mutants now neat lol.
Knight Apprentice S. Morrow
I would either like to play my revamped character.
Or an artificer with good BaB. The PF 3rd party Artificer has mediocre BaB. In addition, allow Artificers to create constructs (robots) starting at the appropriate level with/without pre-reqs or they are met by the class. The reason why I propose a good BaB is because of his limited use in magic (aka Tech) according to the class below regardless if he/she has access to both clerical and arcane spells. Now if the class has access up to 5th level, I can see mediocre BaB. Then poor BaB at 6th level.
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/adamant-entertainment/art ificer
In addition, I recommend changing the name from Artificer to ROBCO Technician since ROBCO is basically every where in the Fallout US and Bioshock-type to Mad Scientist.
GM Armadillephant
Actually, looking at that, that class is pretty much exactly what I wanted to do with my artificer.
Huh.
I agree, though, it's odd that they have 3/4 BAB... AND only up to 4th level spells. Especially considering every other 3/4 caster class gets 6th level spells.
SO, I hereby decree that the Artificer has the same rate of Weird Science Inventions (which need to be renamed, because I don't like that phrase) per day as Alchemists have extracts per day. Because Artificers are cool, and I don't want them losing out because of dumb limitations.
Keep in mind, though, that reflavored item creation feats (and magic items) may be somewhat clunky to work with. Other than that, though, I see no issues with the class... Just substitute Use Technology, an Int-based skill, for Use Magic Device.

What about BaB, 3/4 or full?
