"Luckily, I always carry rope...in my...pack..." Aquavius reaches for things that do not exist. "Huh. Well I'm better at swimming than climbing. Ignia, are you a good jumper? You look like it."
Aquavius boasts for a bit, masking her casting of Borrow Skill and ending it with a light tap on Ignia's shoulders.
Borrow Skill lets me perform a single check using someone else's ranks. So her 1 rank, plus my +2 Dex bonus, and +3 for being in class gives me a +6 bonus.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
phew, that was worth it..
Aquavius leaps across the pit without trouble. She puts her hands on her hips and laughs. "Haha! Like hopping between ships! Come on!"
Crixus of the 8th |
Crixus shoulders his tower shield behind him and using his grappling hook and rope begins to climb down.
climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Then proceeds to climb back up
climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
After reaching the other side Crixus looks at Abdul's armor "Looks like that will be the next purchase i make, this armor is a reliable friend but it has been proven to me several times now that while it is great for being a soldier I need more flexible armor when it comes to being a pathfinder."
Crixus then retrieves his rope and grappling hook and re straps his massive tower shield to his arm. and gives <I'm Good> sign before looking toward the others to make sure everyone else is okay and ready to continue.
Steward of Banshee |
Overconfident as he grabs the rope to climb down, Steward loses his grip in his heavy armor and takes a spill.
acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
Ignia Leroung |
"I practiced leaps as part of my dancing instruction. It is not really proper for a young lady to dance upon a public stage, but I insisted!"
Ignia watches the undine, and notices her fluid leap, but is unable to identify magic at play. "Well done! You'd make an excellent dance partner, I imagine."
GM Aeon |
Steward slips as he climbs down, but it's nothing but a bruise really.
Falling Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Putting the Wisp's lax workplace safety aside for now, you find the cellar full of wine bottles of various vintages and styles. Finding the correct one isn't too difficult, but as soon as Gribbl grasps it to take it from the shelf the rack retracts into the wall and reveals a hidden passage that leads into a small chamber!
A sturdy silver chain jutting from the ceiling ends in a glowing orb that radiates yellow light across the rectangular room. A simple desk of polished wood, stacked with documents and scattered notes, shelters a pair of wooden chests against the south wall. A series of cracks along the eastern and western walls form makeshift entrances into exposed caverns.
Map is up! Move around the chamber as you wish.
Gribbl |
Gribble peers into the room, eyes huge with surprise and curiosity... he waits for the others before entering... "Desk... papers! Might learn great things... need to catalog and return these documents to the society for study if they prove valuable."
Aquavius |
The map is view only, GM. Also, can you put it in the campaign summary or on your profile?
"You think so. Never danced that much, unless I was walkin' the plank, haha." Aquavius laughs as Ignia compliments her.
"Alright, get the wine and let's get out of-" One of her eyebrows peaks. "Oh, what do we have here?"
She nods with Gribbl. "Might sell well to the highest bid- sorry, force of habit. I mean, the Pathfinder Society might find it useful. Let's grab what we can."
Ignia Leroung |
"Quite the collection of vintages." Ignia remarks as she examines some of the bottles.
When the chamber is revealed, she stays further back. Is this part of our orders? Did Drang mean for us to find this place? What does he want from us?
Crixus of the 8th |
Crixus stands near the others eyes open sword drawn and tower shield ready as while he was the smartest of the three brothers and he knows how to read and write he is not that smart at determining what is important and what is not when its in writing.
"Those look important, maybe this is what he was hoping we would find since he was going through all the vintages? Maybe he knew one of them would open this passage but he didn't know which one so he did them all?"
Steward of Banshee |
Steward as he slips and climbs up the other side. He continues ignoring any females in the group, but looks around the room carefully (except to avoid looking at the women).
"I guess we found something, huh?"
Gribbl |
Gribbl heads to the desk... not waiting for everyone else, since they all seem to be hanging back...

Aquavius sees the things crawl by, and in an instant recalls what she knows about them.
"Now listen up! Those Festrogs love eating flesh. Every bite they take helps them live longer, so keep them teeth away from ya. And don't you dare use slashin' or piercin' weapons, unless you want that pus to burst and disease ya!"
She pulls out her flail and begins a rowsing tale. "Which reminds me! You ever hear of Gulwag the Contaminated? He never heard of a bath, never heard of soap, but he and mud? One-and-the-same!" She laughs and gets her flail ready.
Aquavius will start Raging Song and accept it. Other martial types are encouraged to, as well.

Do you actually draw a cestus? Isn't it already on your hand?
oops as well. So used to having to draw sword/weapon I always forget cestus is just there. Id just wait then sword undrawn with cestus reared back to punch

"What's going on up there?" Steward asks. "Let me see!"
The warpriest moves ahead, drawing up near his companions.

A second festrog creeps forward from another passage and eyes Crixus. The first festrog feaps forward with bestial speed and buries its teeth in Abdul's flesh before the half-orc has a chance to react! Brandishing her flail, she takes a 5 ft step forward. "Someone setup flanking with me so we can beat this thing into the dirt. Speaking of dirt, you ever hear about ou ever hear of Gulwag the Contaminated? He never heard of a bath, never heard of soap, but he and mud? One-and-the-same!"

GM Aeon |
It seems the chamber was used by Selmius Foster as a personal study. Many of the early Pathfinder's exploits are detailed here, most of them already published in the Chronicles, but as you read through the notes and journals, one item stands out. Foster writes of a matter he was was working on before his ill-fated trip to Bhopan. Appended to the letter is an addition by Foster's assistant Adolphus, detailing some further work on the issue.
While most of this information will no doubt already be in the hands of fellow Society members, there is a personal matter which I have left contained within. Events over the past decade have led me to suspect a fellow agent of hoarding her knowledge and not submitting it for review. This woman, a surprisingly sensible gnome by the name of Eylysia, has partaken of almost as many missions as I, yet she reports only a third of what I have brought to light. In order to ensure knowledge is not concealed, I have begun an investigation into Eylysia and her activities here in Absalom, hoping to find her hidden repository of stored knowledge.
Thus far, I have come across two promising leads. The first is Eylysia’s contact with a well-known stonemason by the name of Arkath. I had the displeasure of meeting this fellow in his dying days, when he promised to take any secrets he held to his grave. He was interred in a mausoleum in the Ivy District weeks after our encounter, though I still believe there is more to his connection with Eylysia.
Another lead is Eylysia’s friendship with a member of the Arcanamirium, a local wizard’s guild. The fellow is a gnome by the name of Fimbrik. All of my attempts to speak with him have failed, though I have noted his home address in my files for follow-up. It is my sincere hope that I am able to return to discover what Eylysia has hidden, but should I not, I entrust this to my assistant Adolphus or any brave Society agents who come across my unfinished work.
Selmius Foster
My initial follow-up of Foster's investigation into Arkath involved hiring several diviners to discern the veracity of Selmius's leads. It appears the stonemason was quite honest with my mentor; there is some key clue buried with him in his mausoleum.
I have watched Eylysia for many months since my return, and I have caught her making additions to the Wall of Names - the memorial built in honor of my departed mentor. She has added three names, none of which are true Pathfinders and are likely worth investigating. Their names are:
~ Doulgonlir Caskmail
~ Hollis 'Evil Grin' Thorne
~ Karina Clamp
Events are in motion that will soon take me to Quantium, after which I will be unable to conclude this investigation. I leave this hidden under the Wounded Wisp, in hopes that one day I might return, or that the Society endures its current woes and a future generation of agents can take up this cause.
Adolphus
Aquavius |
"Huh, look at this. Hiding treasure from your captain was a easy way to get thrown overboard..." Aquavius pages through the notes.
"Looks like we might find some hidden information if we follow the right clues. Who's up for a treasure hunt?"
Gribbl |
"Sounds like fun! Time to follow the clues, yes?" says the little frog man.
Ignia Leroung |
Oblivious to the combat that just concluded...
"What a selection of vintages! This 4691 was a good year for Taldan gold, and 4694 had an excellent run of Andoren mead, and look, 4682 was the start of the reign of Carellia Thrune as infernal majestrix of Cheliax! The vineyards had an exquisite red that year, but it is quite rare now." Ignia trails off as she notices her allies busy in the other room.
She walks across the room to the desk, "What a mess." <Disgust>
After looking over the letter and notes, "There are secrets to be brought to light. I believe it is our duty. <Eager>
"Should we go first to see Fimbrik? The living have more to tell us than the dead... usually." <Question>
Crixus of the 8th |
Crixus will look around after the combat ended and make sure everyone is accounted for. He will look at Abdul with concern only long enough to Aquavius see her begin to heal him to not be worried about the injury.
Crixus will skim the information that the others find important and will then try to scratch his head forgetting that he has his helmet on and thus making a horrible claw on chalkboard effect.
Taking off his helmet and Crixus proceeds to inspect the top for damage "Sorry, so the plan is we find this Fimbrik person first or is that a terrible idea?"
Gribbl |
"I think we should check out the mausoleum first, as that is the first clue listed.. but that's just my opinion...and I'm not very experienced at this sort of stuff."
Aquavius |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
"Don't know. Don't care which one we go to first." Aquavius shrugs and pulls out a gold piece.
Even is for Fimbrick's house: 1d2 ⇒ 2
"But my lucky piece says we should go to Fimbrick's first."
Gribbl |
"that's fine."
Ignia Leroung |
"Delightful. Say, Gribbl, are you skilled in arcane arts? Perhaps this gnome will take a liking to you."
Do you have skills listed on your sheet? I couldn't find them
Crixus of the 8th |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Crixus see's the coin flip and at its landing and with Aquavius's words about the lucky piece Crixus nods as if has made up his mind.
"Luck never really worked for me, when it had to. That said if it works for you then we will use your luck. To Fimbricks it is then."
Crixus will then slam his helmet back on and offers Gribbl a boost up to his old place atop Crixus's should armor.
Once he looks situated Crixus will ask "So uh...which way to this Fimbrick fellows house?"
If you look under his name you see a spoiler section with it hidden. I believe its on the upper left part of his character profile as well.
GM Aeon |
Foster's notes list Fimbrik's address in the Wise Quarter, and it doesn't take long to find it. The house is an impressive stone structure that is rather fitting for an eccentric wizard. A brick step leads up to the door, which has a rusty old lock. Numerous newspapers are piled around the porch and crammed into the thin slot in the door. Each of the rounded corners of the building has a large window, allowing you to peek inside if wanted.
The map is updated.
Aquavius |
"Huh. Someone doesn't like the news." Aquavius smirks. "Clearly hasn't been here in a while. What's inside? Any obvious clues?"
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Aquavius walks right up to the window and peers inside. "Not that I'm above a little B&E."
Crixus of the 8th |
Crixus sneaks around to the other side his previous recon training coming to the forefront as he carefully peaks around the edge of the window to see whats inside.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Unless Crixus see's nothing living he will begin to creep back to the others doing his best to stay quiet.
Gribbl |
note: Gribbl's skills are in a spoiler in his header line, right over his character portrait
Gribble peers in the window and seeing someone, presumably Fimbrik, he'll rap on the window to get his attention.
Ignia Leroung |
I looked everywhere but right in front of me! Thanks
"What do you see, Aquavius? Is Fimbrik here?"
Ignia approaches the front door, reluctant to snoop around the house. She hesitates a moment at the pile of newspapers, then knocks politely.
