GM-8574: Mists of Mwangi (2017) (Inactive)

Game Master Jason Lillis

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st to 5th level characters (Tiers: 1–2, 4–5).

Pathfinder Lugizar Trantos recently returned from the Mwangi Expanse with haunted eyes and a pack full of strange idols. Absalom's famed Blakros Museum purchased his pieces and Lugizar vanished. The strange monkey idols he pulled from the misty jungles of Mwangi carry with them a fell curse, and now their power has laid claim to the museum. Can the Pathfinder Society uncover the source of the curse in time, or will the Blackros Museum be forever lost to the mists of Mwangi?

The claws retract, the hair thins and the flesh returns to its soft, hobbity state as the bewildered Halfling glances around.

"What... what even the... I..."

As Mister Trelawney makes excited tree noises (don't even ask), The Gardener looks around at his fellows, grinning profusely as it dawns on him that the curse has been lifted. Suddenly, he is all quick winks and clever smiles as before.

He first approaches Narayan, nodding humbly.

"Mister Trelawney and I are so incredibly grateful, Mr. Singh. T'ank ye, friend, for lifting that accursed... curse. Heh, I guess I'm not ALL back yet, eh?"

He gives Narayan a friendly and abundantly grateful handshake and turns to Copper, concealing his shame under a veneer of gentlemanly grace.

"Ah... Miss Tam. My apologies, M'Lady, for my behaviour back then. I was not mesel'. You have my thanks for healing my wounds, and fer putting up with m' mischief. I do not have the self-control of your wise friend here, though I'll work on it after this day."

He bows low, sweeping his hat off in a gesture of respect, before setting it back on his head and beaming at the party, fists on hips and, with one foot upon the chest of a fallen foe, announcing:

"So what're we waiting fer, fellows? Let us continue on with our quest, and cure more helpless souls of this blasted affliction!"

Mister Trelawney makes a triumphant tree noise... again, don't ask.

As it seems everyone is ready, Grynt, with bow drawn, slowly moves and exits the office/undead exhibit area and enters what he assumes is another large exhibit area just across from it. A large placard above the entryway to this hall reads “Hunting the Beasts of Legend” in great block letters. This gigantic chamber is relatively free of mist, and darkness is held at bay by braziers of radiant light. Behemoths occupy these halls, great taxidermy nightmares such as a two-headed bear easily taller than an ogre; a great desiccated beetle, its carapace larger than the face of the clock tower of Absalom’s Clockwork Cathedral; a massive specimen of chimera, its jaws open in a mock roar; and an assembled skeleton of a tyrant lizard. The walls here are studded with strange masks, staves, spears, and other implements of long forgotten cultures, most likely used in ritual hunts of the beasts preserved here.

Gardener - I usually assume that thrown-and-reusable weapons are picked up. It's just what your PC would do, unless it's clearly inaccessible without a starting major undertaking to get it back. Thanks for checking, though!

5 - Lady Alya

Scarab Sages

Female Human Inquisitor 1/UMonk 1 [HP 16/16 | AC/ff/t 16/13/16 | F+5/R+4/W+5 | CMB +3 CMD 18 | Spd 30', Init +2, Per +11 | Judg 1/1, Spell 2/2, Move 6/6]

Copper rushed in behind Grynt, bow in hand, and levels a steady look at the snake, and bursts into the room to fire her bow at it.

Swift: Activate Relentless Footing for +10' move, Move, Standard: fire on snake.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Magical Child 1 [HP 8/11 | AC/ff/t 16/14/13 | F+3/R+4/W+0 | CMB -2 CMD 10 FCMD 8 | Spd 20', Init +2, Per +0] Character Sheet

Dashing in, The Gardener stares at the feral man and decides to show him why you don't charge out in the middle of a dirty loo.

"Muck and grime,
Scent so foul,
Trip this creature
With stuff from a bowel!"

Suddenly, the ground below the man takes on the consistency of a sodden lawn, and it's best not to think about what may be causing the sudden softening. For all intents and purposes, he may be trying to run on Grease...

The spell is cast in the corner so that it gets the man and the snake (though I don't think it'll have much effect on the snake) but not any Melee characters if they decide to attack.

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Magical Child 1 [HP 8/11 | AC/ff/t 16/14/13 | F+3/R+4/W+0 | CMB -2 CMD 10 FCMD 8 | Spd 20', Init +2, Per +0] Character Sheet

No problem! Hope you can get a good rest after a busy day. :)

OOF! What a couple days. Ok, here we go...

Copper's arrow flies wide of the viper!

The Gardener coats the floor with sticky grease!
MAN: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 - he keeps his footing!
The viper can't be tripped.

Giovanni gets into position...

The man tries to move at Copper for trying to shoot his snake...
MAN's Acrobatics: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
...steps carefully through the grease, then steps up quickly and takes a swing at her...
SLAM!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
...but his balance is off and his swing goes wide. He continues cackling maniacally throughout!

The viper slithers through the grease toward Giovanni, provoking an attack...
Giovanni AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
...and he skewers it neatly on the point of his rapier. In desperation, the viper dives to latch on to Giovanni...
BITE!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
...but isn't quick enough to catch him, and the serpent slumps to the ground, limp from it's wounds.
