HA

Pace, Pace, Pace....

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

Yeah..wonder what the slow down's all about...hope all is ok

Hehe, yeah, everythings fine. I got caught up in the APG and related threads.. ended up staying awake too long..

Anyway...

Lydinia:
Taking a quick shortcut, you manage to get to the sheriff's house before Azharten. You wait... You'll need to make a Stealth check if you want to remain hidden from Azharten. You'll also need to make a Perception check.

Azharten
The night remains quiet as you make your way to the sheriff's house. It should be right around.. here! Before you stands a decent two-story house. There doesn't seem to be anyone awake.

Two Perception checks Azharten.

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

DB3:
Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Lydinia tries to remain out of sight and surveys the seen. She hates to admit to herself that if Azharten gets out of hand she'll have to intervene...
I made a stealth check on the previous thread page too..after you told me about the short cut...(25 result)..so this would be 2nd stealth check?

Lydinia wrote:

Lydinia:
Yeah. So many checks got me a bit confused.

Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

so... Lydiana uses this or last page stealth check / perception ? kinda unsure now how is going

Azharten rushes forward, jumping out of the alley and landing to another side of street. Quickly moving forward and hiding to the shadows and observing his surroundings.

Stealth1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 well, can´t really stay hidden hah

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1
Azharten wrote:

Ya me too...I would think my first roll should be my roll since I stated my actions, rolled..and then nothing happened til now, but I'm cool with whatever....

Well, this surely is quite interesting, since having some ideas now. Need to see how this will continue. For now Azharten is just looking at the two-story house and seeing a way inside.

Tired this moment, but staying up for a while to see if anything changes, so I can post almost immediately. Trying to think a way

wait... wait... wait... takes a leak, invents new dance style 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22. . .= Breakdancing!!! After that reads newest strip of "Order of the Stick", plays with a passing dog, runs a maraton around town..................... ok, ok :D Going really slowly but he is getting little bit bored now

On your first check

Azharten, as you scan the area, you spot Lydinia trying her best to keep out of sight just a house down. You know you got lucky when you saw her, if the stories of her child are true...

As for your second check...
As you look over the Sheriff's house, you notice the door is slightly open...

Azharten notices Lydiana, but he rushes inside, at least assured that he knows she is there. When he moves closer the house and dives next to wall, he noticed that the door was open.

Unsure what is going on, he moves silently inside and try to listen if anyone is awake or moving inside
Perception(listen)1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Stealth1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Okay, time to get this Murder off the Orient Express back on track.

Aharten
The door creaks slightly as you open it to enter, but after a moment the only thing you can hear is a strange, slow scratching sound. It sounds like it's coming from upstairs, but it's horribly muffled, like there's something blocking the noise...

Perception from Lydinia.

Also, rollcall in the OOC thread, just to see who is still here.

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

What is this... all too creepy now... Azharten will draw both his swords and step inside slowly, eyes focused to detect movement. He will keep moving slowly and try to find a way to upstairs

Stealth[moving]1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Lydinia
You hear a strange, slow scratching. Now that you can hear it, you think it's coming from the side of the Sheriff's house you can't see, from the passage between houses... Then it stops.

Azharten
As you search the house for stairs(and find them), you realize you can't hear the scratching sound anymore. What you do hear is something you don't really have an explanation for. A combination of clicking and sliding sounds, like something is... moving up stairs.

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

Drawing her bow, Lydinia moves quietly to the passage between houses, trying to remain unseen....

Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

M Tielfing Wiz 2

Still sleeping, apparently....

Didn't I say something about having something ready for those who stayed behind? I can easily do that if you want something to do Basha. >:)

That is a strange voice... something is wrong here and that clicking noise just from above on stairs... I don´t like this at all... Lydiana is close by so might be better to get her here but then what ever that is...

Azharten will try to keep his eye on stairs, while he moves around ground floor to search a window to give somekind of signal to Lydiana. While moving he prepares his sword to strike anything unusual [ready-action]

Better to have that annoying little sister here and complain than try to move here alone against who knows what... but she surely has grown alot since she was kid memories which appears to Azharten mind Hopefully everything is alright at orphanage... I have really bad feeling of this night...

Perception1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Lydinia
As you move into the passageway, you notice strange marks going up the wall of the Sheriff's house, heading straight toward a second-story window that looks like something tried to open it from the outside.. and succeeded.

Azharten
Luckily, the Sheriff keeps his house very tidy, and you don't bump into anything as you search for a window. Unfortunately, the only windows you can find on the ground floor are at the front and back of the house.

To explain the lack of side windows on the first floor, the houses on either side of the Sheriff's house are only one-story tall, while his is two-stories.

Front and back... and why in the middle of night there is stranger going up to Sheriff? Azharten thinks and then shrug while grinding to himself for the joke he made That woman better to be close by.

Azharten will move fast towards back window and break it, hoping to get Lydiana´s attention, turn and then take movement towards stairs and readies his swords

Azharten
After breaking the window, you realize the sounds you heard from upstairs have stopped.

Lydinia
You hear glass breaking close by.

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

Hearing the breaking glass, Lydinia hurries to the front door and quietly enters, bow in hand...

Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Hopefully, she will make it in time...

Unsure from which door Lydiana will come, Azharten ponders when he notice, that all sound has stopped. Knowing that breaking glass has made some noise, he will now rush the stairs up swords ready.

Acrobatic check (to avoid any AoO)1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Bring it :)

Um.. Lydinia, it was the back window... Oh well.

1d100 ⇒ 78
Ooh...

Azharten
You rush up the stairs, fully expecting to cross blades with the intruder, but when you get to the top, you can only see four door. Only one is open though, and peering inside you can see the sheriff sleeping soundly, unaware of your presence. Spying the open window a few feet from the bed, you think the intruder has escaped... until you hear a cold, almost snake-like voice.

"Child, it is late, shouldn't you be in bed?"

Lydinia
You manage to get through the front door just in time to hear to hear the above question float down the stairs.

Basha(and maybe Eadric?)
Perhaps it is just the thought of Keiyanna being acussed of gruesome crimes, but your dreams tonight are strange. Hundreds of images seem to float in front of the dream-you, some of them memories, most don't seem to be your memories though. They stop, then rush past you to until the only thing you can see is the room you slept in as a child. A small gnomish girl is playing with a small lizard. She looks up at you with a puzzled look.

"Who are you?"

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

Lydinia moves quietly up the stairs...bow at the ready...

stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Knowledge:Local(recognize the voice) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Lydinia
As you make your way up the stairs, you notice a cloaked figure on the ceiling, clawed hands holding it above Azharten. The hood moves, and you get the eerie feeling whatever it is knows you're there.

"Another child still awake? You know better than to stay up so late."

Azharten
As you hear the voice a second time, you realize it's coming from above you, and see the same cloaked figure Lydinia noticed.

"Why don't you two go back to bed? You'll be cranky tomorrow if you don't."

Oh, that is true... but I was always a somewhat.. a nocturnal being voice getting deeper and more to a whisper Beside... night is time for scary things... and believe me, you are not the only one here now Breathing now stopping Shouldn´t you come down first and then ask?

With sudden movement, Azharten makes full-attack attempt

Primary Hand
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Off-Hand
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Primary Hand Crit Confirm
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Ah, something I forgot for Lydinia. You do not rcognize the voice! ;)

Azharten, your attack math is wrong. Your profile has your TWF AB at +1, and damage for off-hand weapons is 1/2 your Str mod unless you have the Double Slice feat. Also, longswords threaten criticals on 19s and 20s, not 18s. Not that it matters at the moment...

Azharten's blades bite deep, and the figure gasps as it let's go of the ceiling and falls... but by the time it reaches the floor, only it's cloak remains.

I'm saying "it" because you don't know if the voive is masculine or feminine. Yet.

The sheriff remains asleep, unaware of the fact he was close to death.

Ah, you are right! I already had it calculated but then went and plussed again :S Ah, kinda of dumb feeling now. Mhm, also noticed now my calculation wrong for off-hand attack. but thinking since I forgot to mention in Stats that -> since masterwork swords, they should grant +1 to attack rolls, it´s +2 but was anyway wrong since counted as +3

Hmph.... what was that? Disappearing like a cat... or maybe it has a need to play cat and mouse... *shrug*

Azharten then turns toward Lydiana Nice to see you here. Any idea of possible magic being used here or something similar? Disappearing like that... not sure if I know many people with skills like that..

Knowledge(local)1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 to remember all possible spellcasters at town or someone who has potential to use this magic? Maybe more accurate information after Lydiana uses detect magic and can recognize possible schoo

Eadric looks about confused, am I dreaming or have I awoken? He rubs his eyes and then glances about to see if the little girl still stands before him...

Does Eadric recognize the "room", is it the room he fell asleep in?

It is. You said you deciced to sleep in the children's room, and that is where you "are" currently. Eye rubbing won't help you now!. ;)

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

"Shhhh...Ya, nice to see you too. My guess would be some sort of sorcery. whispers Lydinia as she quietly prays...

Cast Detect Magic

As she is concentrating on her spell, Lydinia whispers "Grab the cloak, it may be of use. We need to get out of here before the sheriff wakes. It may be hard to explain our presence here. We'll watch the house from outside."

"Who are you?"

"Hello little one, my name is Basha. I used to live in this room when I was your age. What is your name?"

Azharten & Lydinia(who detects no magic, though the spell worked)
Both of you know there are a few people in the city that called themselves "spellcasters" but were really little more than normal people with a few tricks.

There are two people though, an elf and a dwarf, that have true talent for magic. The elf can be found in the small Temple of Nethys, while the dwarf can usually be found in Merchant's Square selling potions, scrolls, and the occasional wand.

Basha & Eadric
"I'm Lilian Yer.. Yerazig! And this is Zipper!" She says, holding up the lizard. "He's usually the only one here to play with, but now your here, so we can play until I wake up!"

Basha, I noticed you have no languages. Talking must be very hard for you! ;)

M Tielfing Wiz 2

Ha, fixed

"Well miss, I doubt Keiyanna wants you staying up this late, shall we read a story instead?"

Basha pulls out his spell book, and begins to make up a story for the little girl
'Once upon a time..."

Waiting to see if Eadric wants to do anything before continuing dreamy experiance.

M Human Paladin 2

Can Eadric see Basha as well as the girl? Assuming he can...

Eadric smiles as Basha begins reading his "book"...

You are both in the room and can see the other.

Lilian become engrossed in the story. She seems to follow the the words as if the were actually written on the pages instead of spells.

"This one.. *yawn* looks like *sleepy pause* a rainbow.." Lilian nods off before the "story" is over, handing resting over the page holding color spray's markings.

As you tuck her in, Zipper begins to shake as a chill mist seeps in through the walls to coat his tiny scales, disappearing under their edges... He looks up at you with a cold intelligence.

"Two more children still awake? No.. you sleep, don't you? It's good to see at least two of you behaving. Sweet dreams." The lizard hisses at you before it skitters away...

Oh, almost forgot something...

*evil DM laugh*

M Human Paladin 2

Eadric began to reach for his sword as the lizard hissed out in speech... but only stared in stunned disbelief as the lizard scurried away...

What in the abyss is going on?! he mutters as his voice trails off...

yes... good idea but that will not totally cover our tracks due to also that broken window. Although I can make it look like a robbery... anything valuable here here I could take

Azharten turns to Lydiana and gives the cloak to her Take it and go. Wait outside and make sure that those glasses are dropped inside so it looks that someone came from out and not in. I will clean the stuff here meanwhile.

When both are finished and meet again outside: Azharten looks at Lydiana and thinks for a while: [b] There is only 2 guy here who have this kind of potential for magic and I think you know also them. Not sure how years have changed here but we need to somehow find a way to get them... but what I am unsure here is this! Someone tried to kill Sheriff... and that´s the most weird thing here.

Female Elf Rogue* 1/Cleric 1

"I hate to admit it..but we are thinking the same thing" replies Lydinia with a chuckle. "Now lets get back to the orphange. We'll pay pay a visit to the elf and the dwarf tomorrow."

M Tielfing Wiz 2

Basha's hand shoots out to grab the tiny creature. "Not so fast Zipper, we may need to have a conversation, we and you."

Grapple check? 1d20 ⇒ 14

If he can grab it, he intends on scanning it for magic/possession.

Basha & Eadric
Basha, quick as can be, snatches up Zipper just before he can escape through a crack in the wall. He hisses softly as he tries to escape, though he is careful not to scratch Basha with his claws.

Lydinia & Azharten
Assuming you are heading back...

The night doesn't seem as hostile as you make your way back, like some great predator has left the area...

You can make plans on your way back or just get back and go to sleep, nothing is going to bother you.
