The kobolds turn to you, and eye your group over suspiciously.
Bom Skjold

Bom once again addresses kobolds, "Common, do you speak it? Can you understand me?"
Speaking out of the side his mouth, Ajax says to the group, "Anyone here speak kobold?"
Akinra
|
"Common speaking me at better most others of tribe. Best I am at the speaking! Mouth bad tasting words nasty at you spitting. Language pure you should speak!" the larger of the kobolds answers.
Stullun Freeblade

Grinning broadly, oversized incisors showing, Stullun steps up out of the shadows.
In Common:
"Greatings to you, and pardon us as not all are great enough to master many tongues. We seek some property that was lost in these caves, and seek no quarrel with the kin of dragons. We hope that you will let us pass peacefully, and we will respect your territory in turn."
In Orcish:
"If this language suits you better, again I say: Greatings to you, and pardon us as not all are great enough to master many tongues. We seek some property that was lost in these caves, and seek no quarrel with the kin of dragons. We hope that you will let us pass peacefully, and we will respect your territory in turn."

Bom continues, "We seek a long sword like object. It should be made of out of green rock."
Diplomacy Take 10 = 16. Hoping that Bom's roll is treated as primary since he initiated the dialogue.

Bom feels that perhaps he and Kensington might be making headway. Looking to capitalize on their momentum, Bom turns to Malik and Baz and gives them a nod to join in. Turning back to the leader,
"You speak well Common, been in dungeon long distance?"
Bom smiles knowingly at Stullun, wondering if the rogue finds the joke amusing.

The conversation seems to be going afoul at the beginning (Base 9) but as the party members begin chiming in and helping, the conversation steers towards the positive (4 aid other successes).
Tarka, the kobold leader, explains her dissatisfaction with the Cult of Fire and its skulk leader, which is really frustration over the fact that she is no longer the leader of the band. She believes that the skulk, who calls himself the Fire Speaker, is a fraud, and that he is tricking her tribe into
following strange edicts.
Tarka offers her group’s help. "You smooth talkers are good for talking against foul fire speaker. Kill evil man and grateful we will be. Work together we should. Enemy to all in these halls. You help us, me and mine not stop you. Maybe we die. Maybe you die. Better for all if help."
Tarka and her minions agree to vouch for the you with the rest of their band, leaving the reason for your aid to her and hers in an attempt to slay the Fire Speaker up to you.
Stullun Freeblade
|
Stullun raises his eybrows to Bom, with amused respect and surprise. "Let us go then, show us where to find this Fire Speaker and we will deal with him. Also, we seek old bits of parchment with writing on them... if you know of these we would appreciate your aid."
Bom Skjold
|
Bom, not quite expecting to have come to terms with notoriously evil creatures returns Stullun look and nods to the others,
Now that's how you dogpile a parlay.
Of course these creatures were notorious tricksters and Bom tried to determine if there was any duplicity at work Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Nevertheless, Bom's decision to talk instead of fight was motivated by one thing,
"Before we speak to speaker of fire, have you seen the sword with green rock?"
Akinra
|
"No. No green rock sword. Fire Speaker has katana of jade though. Maybe you beat him he know about green rock sword. Beating hard makes skulks talk the better.
Proceeding onwards, you come to a room with large stone staue, and a skulk who briefly emerges to chastise the kobolds, then promptly retreats back into the shadows when he sees the group assembled. Stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25

Bom is forced to laugh and shakes his head as the group leaves one room and enters another.

As the voice enunciates the last word, a large fireball blasts from the mouth of the statue.
Anyone speak kellish?
Bom Skjold
|
Bom looks at the kobold who led them in here, "Okay, now what?"
Akinra
|
Called out, the Skulk reluctantly moves out of the shadows, and asks in clear concise common, "Parlay?"
Strapped to his side, on a chain belt, is the jade katana you have been tasked with recovering.
Bom Skjold
|
Bom, "Excellent. Give us the katana and I'll try to convince the rest of the group not to kill you."

M'grul being better suited to intimidation rather than diplomacy allows the others to lead this one but feels in his heart of hearts... well... whatever is acting as his heart, that the situation is better suited to scaring the crap out of the creature or at least challenging it to a fight for the object.

The grey skinned beast detaches the katana from his chain belt, and steps forward, sheathed katana in hand.

As he moves forward, the katana slips from his hands as he trips on some unseen bit of rubble and skitters across the floor. Nearly all the way past you and back into the room from whence you came

I have played this about 4 times now... first damn time I've gotten the sword! And soon, after the last Lantern Lodge PFS adventure is released, it will be useless, considering I will be using a Lantern Lodge character for that module... I suppose I could do a total damn remake but that would suck.
Akinra

The sword skitters across the floor, past you and to the kobolds. The feint appears to be a failure. None the less, the chameleon skinned Fire Speaker makes a run for it, charging past all of you and to the well.
If you are along the path of the Fire Speaker, and have weapons drawn, you may make an Attack of Opportunity. Otherwise you can pursue if you like.
Bom Skjold
|
As the group recovers the blade, Bom responds ”I vote we don't kill it...okay, I tried.”
Akinra

No, you need to use a melee to get an AoO. If he survives, he is gone down the well.
If cornered and given the opportunity to surrender, he parleys for his life, willingly handing over the jade katana . . . No idea why you wouldn't have gotten the katana before?
Injured, but aware of his situation, the skulk disappears down the well.
The kobolds seem excited and happy with the victory, jabbering vigorously in draconinc. The best you can tell, they are likely arguing over who might be the most suited to lead following the downfall of the fire speaker.
Bom Skjold

Happy with a his first successful parlay, Bom waits for Kensington to finish his search. Meanwhile Bom listens to the northern door and then motioning the group to slip out while the Kobolds are otherwise engaged.

Clarification, the room you are in (in theory) is 14. The Skulk just jumped down the well in the room to the north west. I am assuming you are referring to the Westernmost door in the southern part of room 14, leading to room 15.
There are no sounds coming from the door. Entering the next room, you note that this room has a wide corridor exiting it toward the north, and a door to the south. Barrels and boxes of supplies fill the cramped chamber.
Bom Skjold

I was using the directional indicator to the left (north) of room 5. It seems there is also one at the top? Which one should we be using?
Bom nods at Stulluns suggestion and after checking to make sure there are no predators in the room, begins a thorough search of the boxes.
Taking 10 (=16) for Perception of bad guys, T20 for search of the boxes and barrels
