In your first mission as a Pathfinder agent, the head of the Grand Lodge sends you on a number of missions throughout the metropolis of Absalom, pitting you against traps,thieves, and even an unruly devil, all in the pursuit of knowledge.

I am back at home from a long but satisfying two days, and can more easily keep up with posts. My son graduated from college today. He now holds an electrical engineering degree and can begin what I hope is a short job search.

I think it's fine - you've got five guys, three of which have already displayed considerable ego already. Nothing has endeared us to one another yet (i.e. we haven't bled in front of each other), so there's little reason for us to be kind to one another.

We'll let you know here if it gets out of hand!

Dunn isn't really supposed to be egotistical just as it was pointed out earlier, young, brash, overly curious, and loyal to the decemvirate.

Dunn is brash.

Luccinus has a stick shoved up his a**. Dunn also was 'disrespectful' (for a certain value of 'disrespect' as interpreted at the Character level) to Cheliax.

Luccinus worked to make Dunn look like a jerk. That probably makes Luccinus a jerk. :)

However lets take a nickel worth of perspective here - no personal insults or threats were exchanged at an IC level and the comment about Dunn was made about Dunn (and not you) and I clearly stated it was political manipulation. Its an IC thing with the comment being made OOC with two character insights offered. 1/ Political Manipulation 2/ Luccinus being non committal and slippery in his language.

In other words, its all RP. As Pathfinders we are not always gonna love each other - quite often if nothing else - there are personality clashes. Dunn is footloose and relaxed. Luccinus is formal and on guard.

I'm not stressed by you wanting to not work with the Cheliaxians and hope you aren't stressed by this 'interplay' between the characters. I am not about jack booting my way over Avistan for that matter and am happy to work with everyone to get their thing done. For my part? I want a 'win' politically as much as any one else who is in a faction... I am happy to help everyone achieve their objectives (including Faction Missions if we ever play outside of First Steps) as long as Cheliaxian objectives are met.

For what its worth Vermin likes Dunn much better than Luccinus at the moment. His decision to visit the Paracointess first was hopefully explained in game.

He believes its not at all important which task is completed first, BUT if any of the NPC are gonna get offended about not being first, it will likely be the one from house Cheliax. And being new to town he does not want anyone in a place of influence to feel slighted towards him or his new group. So the safest course of action was to cater to the Paracountess, in case it matters to her.

Oh, and I did like Luccinus's intro speech to the paracountess too. Well said.


So I had a totally different thing in mind for this, but then I rolled a 1 on his dex check. Apologies, but I think hilarity will ensue.

Was not what I was expecting, but Vermin will roll with that. :)

Since we are in initiative, and based on the Imps words, can I assume that Vermin feels threatened or should I not know he is about to be attacked by the little devil?

Thats an interesting point - everyone is acting before the devil... you know it would be just good to run and leave the little sod - discretion being the better part of Valour and all that... not sure if we could get out of the house fast enough or how far it would pursue.

About to leave the computer to grab lunch. IF Vermin does not understand he is under threat he thanks the Imp and double moves out of the room, to pay his parting respects to the Paracountess. That should not threaten from the tiny creature. But it will likely result in a fling charge sting attack, but oh well. :)

If Vermin does know the devil is about to attack, and I think he would. he will move back 20 drawing his shield stowing the box in his pack. Can he also declare full defense?

Okay, I'll probably be passing out in not too much longet so I thought I'd explain my plans for Sohali incase the scene moves along while I'm sleeping. Baiscally I'll hold the action until everyone has left and then pull the door shut, or if the little guy attacks I'll continue firing arrows at it until it gives up the fight or my allies can leave the room, at which point I'll again pull the doors closed.

Depending on Luccinus (being the primary tank) I can skirmish the little puke if it comes to it. Firing paper cartridges for me is a free action so I can shoot and scoot for a bit.

Once the gun is loaded, does it matter what type of cartridge? I must admit to not having read the gunslinger rules.

For the record, I believe Vermin should be in 6G. I did not have the map handy when I said he had retreated 20 towards the door.


Sadly, the whole fumble with the box seemes to have totally demoralized the little guy!

Almost a shame. Few new PCs can claim their very first battle was with a devil. :) I was expecting a flying charge tail sting for somewhere around +10 to hit. I a not sure Vermin caught the fact that the dagger handed to Luccinus was silver. If not he would have been slapping at the Imp with a club.

Do we have someone with a lot of knowledge skills? Knowledge Planes? Arcana? Religion? Spellcraft? Vermin has knowledge Nature covered (+6). He can track pretty well too (+8).

Nope here - that said? Level 2 (AFTER 1st steps) I'll be getting knowledge Local and Planes. Mind you as I have NO Int Bonus and they are non class skills, I'll be Mr. Aid Another.

It depends on what cartridge you loaded as to what it does when fired. Alchemical cartridges make loading one step faster.

Not asleep yet but I don't mind you rolling, especially for held actions since that way you can do them at teh same time as whatever triggers them. Makes it easier for you and quicker for everyone :)

I also have to say, apparently we don't have to fear enemies, the dice roller in this game hates us all :)
