Binky manages to find a softer spot to grab a hold of and tears another piece from the badly damaged golem. The blow doesn't look like much but it's enough to cause the construct to lose its form and crumble to the ground in a pile of muddy chunks.
With the morlocks and golem defeated the party is free to spend a moment healing and searching the nearby ruins before moving on. You find a few relics of archaeological value but nothing immediately useful.
Again, feel free to retcon your healing.
1d4 ⇒ 3
Three hours pass. Keep that time in mind if you're keeping certain buffs rolling nonstop.
The party moves on through miles and miles of twisting mining tunnels. You pass several more smaller ruins, also occupied by skulking morlocks, but after the party's victory earlier the degenerate humanoids seem to be keeping their distance. The mining tunnel finally terminates at a large chamber.
Ahead, filling the cavern with its enormity, is a charred dome blackened by several dormant chimneys. A wide cobbled avenue thrusts forth from the cyclopean entrance signaling that whatever the Jistka produced within must have been gigantic indeed. Toppled and broken banner poles surround the soot-stained temple-foundry, and the wide avenue runs uninterrupted for as far as the eye can see. Other smaller domed basilicas surround the Jistka landmark in various stages of decline. Towering high above the charred dome are five chimneys creating a pattern that forms a shadowy pentagram down upon the cobbles below — alluding to the dark powers the Jistka once worshiped.
A gaunt man wearing ornate armor emblazoned with a familiar snake motif and seemingly wreathed in flames exits the temple-foundry clapping his hands in a mocking fashion. Protecting him are several guard dogs and following closely behind him is a shambling humanoid, all rotting skin and slashed up clothing. The party quickly recognizes the unfortunate creature as the remains of Eldis Grone.

Unnvar buries his blade deep in the side of the aspis thug leaving his opponent bloodied and wheezing.
The old man pauses to consider the warriors laying siege to his minions. "You might become a problem. Hold still for a moment, please."
Unnvar needs to make a DC 18 will save vs enchantment or be held per hold person.
Ameko, Aresmes, and Faeranduil are up.

Ameko would have cast Barkskin on herself instead
As the enemy open up on her Ameko weaves another ward Saeranrae's blessing on herself, Binky and Aresmes. Binky steps to the side and unleashes a flurry of bites against the enemy.
Casting communal resist on the 3 of us

Binky the Axebeak |

SQUAAAAAWK!
Binky attacks the closest enemy furiously

Binky tears a hunk of bloody meat from the wounded aspis agent's shoulder. He screams in pain before collapsing to the ground.
I forgot about Aresmes's preemptive post, I'll apply it now.
Aresmes steps over and smashes his hammer into the back of the agent facing off with Unnvar. He too crumples to the ground in a lifeless heap.
Faeranduil is up.

DC18 Will save: 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 3 = 24
Yeah! Let me know if you need proof of folio
Just for a moment Unnvar looks to give in to the spell, but he steels his resolve and fights off the effects.

"What a nice formation you have adopted there..."
Faeranduil takes out his selective metamagic rod and tries to determine if he knows anything about the transformation that the pathfinder agent has undergone.
Knowledge (Arcana, Dungeoneering, Local or Planes): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (11) + 21 = 32
Knowledge (Religion) = 25
Others: see profile. Knowledge questions: Is it reversible? then Spell resistance, Elemental immunities and/or vulnerabilities, DR, Signature abilities in that order
assuming it is not reversible
And then he casts a quickened acidic fireball and follows up with another acidic fireball

In an explosive display, Faeranduil's acidballs wash over the ancient stairs. Overwhelmed by the deadly acid, the guard dogs and Eldis's animated remains are instantly dissolved. One of the aspis thugs is burned by some of the acid but they otherwise prove very adept at dodging the acidic explosion (they have evasion). One of the blasts washes harmlessly over the old man entirely (he has SR which Faeranduil failed to overcome).

With help of his boots of speed, Unnvar sprints around the outside of the area, cutting in at the last pillar and up the stairs. He studies the Aspis necromancer as the raise his greatsword high and attempts to chop the man's head from his shoulders.

Fire Shield: 1d6 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Unnvar's blade only clips the necromancer but it is still enough to leave a nasty bleeding wound. The flames surrounding his opponent flare up when he strikes but Ameko's spell shields him from the heat.
The old man sneers at the half-orc and brandishes a silver pentagram. "I think not."
Concentration: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Unnvar needs to make another DC 18 will save vs enchantment or be held per hold person.

Unnvar didn't end up with Resist Energy, as Ameko retcon and I had moved by the time he cast it again. So I'll take 18 Fire.
So just to be clear, if I may, did I crit, but not all the damage went through?
DC18 Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Okay cool..thanks just didn't know if he had some crazy DR or stoneskin or something going on.

![]() |

Yes, via greater beast totem.

![]() |

Well that's pretty neat!

DM Feral |

Oh, derp. In that case...
Arasmes finishes what Unnvar started, smashing the old necromancer into a lifeless bloody pulp. With the leader defeated, the party makes short work of the remaining aspis agents.
Suddenly the sounds of hundreds, maybe thousands of morlocks in the surrounding tunnels can be heard as the battle comes to an end. It seems whatever fear you've garnered with the morlocks has passed. Deciding against fighting an entire city filled with morlocks the party flees for the surface with what little remains of Eldis that survived Faeranduil's spells.
In the weeks to come, you are congratulated for your work in exploring Rachikan as the Society looks for ways to deal with the morlock infestation. Following up on the party's report, Liberty's Edge deploys agents to seek out the slaves that were employed by the Aspis to relocate them and help them start new lives. Lastly, with the news of Eldis’s death, Benton, the grieving uncle decides to reenter the Society and continue his late nephew’s work.

Faeranduil gives a curt nod to his companions "We were a good team. I guess we will be called on to further explore Rachikan when the Venture Captains have decided how to deal with the morlocks. Until we meet again."
Thanks for the run! I had fun blasting all those mooks.
