Kaylayne fires yet another blast from the ring, and though she damages it deeply, it does not shift. Lief does his best to finish off what’s left of the beast, but alas, he only nicks it.

From the hallway beyond, another drow (link) pokes his head through the door, and throws a ball of fire into Dimitrio! Luckily it does not expand to fill the chamber, and only singes poor Dimitrio. You can see an albino gecko (must the be same one you saw earlier, there can't be two!) at his feet.

The bard saunters over and skewers the wizard with his rapier.

Kaylayne sees the floor is difficult to move along so she climbs on the walls instead to help Dimitrio with his lizard problem. She drops to standing on the floor after moving.

This new chamber is not difficult terrain. It is sand covered, but it's packed fairly firmly with the dampness of the cave and so does not inhibit movement. Further the rocks and stones that litter the entry chamber are not to be found here.

The sound of waves crashing against the cliffs echoes in this chamber through a narrow fissure in the southeastern wall. A low table sits against the southwest wall, on which the remains of an akata are splayed. The doglike beast’s body is partially dissected and surrounded by a variety of tools and half-filled bottles.

Kaylayne steps up and throws the wizard along the wall with her hit. He bounces like a rag doll along the wall to rest in a niche. Lief, using the drow weapon against the shadow, tries to end his life with one final blow.

Mr. Crispy stops bleeding. Mr. Crispy stops breathing. Mr. Crispy stops doing anything evermore...

The drow calls out, ”Now men, come and assist me!” yet in the darkness to the north you hear the audible ‘click’ of a door closing. He looks horror stricken a moment, but comes to grip with the situation. He faces the party as he straightens up, ”So be it.” he says quietly as he backs up deeper in the cave.

He gestures, and a 3-foot-long, blazing beam of red-hot fire springs forth from his hand. Meanwhile his gecko continues to press its attack on poor Dimitrio.

Seeing that the combat has moved into the other chamber Garridan rushes in to help dispatch the next foe. He see' a large albino gecko and thinks, crud! He swings his rapier, still glowing white, at the freakish creature but cannot connect.

Garridan slips in, avoiding the AoO, but cannot connect with the lizard. Ederin has a breakthrough, and is sure he’s found the meaning of life, now if he could only tell someone… Dimitrio, worrying about the albino, strikes at it, cutting deeply through it’s exposed flesh. Kaylayne dribbles a bit more damage onto the lizard and knocks it back into the wall. Lief takes his best shot at the gecko.

Lief, GMPC, tries to get a clear shot, but can’t quite. He shoots the gecko, but misses.

Ouch!

Reeling from the gecko's bite and the smell of singed flesh his own flesh!, Dimitrio repositions himself and lunges once more at the wizard.

The so-called wizard drops to Dimitrio, and Kaylayne essentially drops the gecko shortly thereafter.

We are out of combat, but please don't post more than one minutes worth of actions. Ederin you have another save in that time - DC 13 fort vs poison please or sleep another minute.

The door to the north in the inner chamber is closed but does not have a visible lock on it. It could be barred from the other side though - there's no way to tell short of opening it.

Kaylayne grunts at the gecko falls to her rocks after Dimi takes out his foe.

"Someone drag that ghost demon away...then we can search with light," Kaylayne says, picking up the sunrod to check on Sleeping Beauty Ederin. "I'd like better light to see what I'm doing here."

Using the light of the sunrod, Kaylayne tries to arouse rouse Ederin, including a very sharp slap to the cheek.

IDing Magic items:
I’m going to give you a few items from time to time as your take-10 spellcrafts are getting higher. I’m not assuming you’re taking-10 on everything you find, just speeding things up for the little stuff.

The drow guards each had a potion of cure light wounds, masterwork chain shirts, masterwork rapiers, and masterwork hand crossbows with 9 bolts. So all that x2.

Mr. Crispy had no gear.

The ‘wizard’ had a few things, a magic wand (produce flame with 23 charges), masterwork leather armor, +1 dagger, two silver bracelets worth 50gp each and a silver ring worth 100gp.

Dimitrio does a little dance step as the wizard falls to his blade.

He bows to the drow, "And this is how tragic poem ends."

He then winces in pain seeing his chewed up and burnt flesh.

"Don't we have something for the poison? Someone pour it down Shorty's throat."

The bard tries on the silver bracelet on for size and admires the glint of the jewelry on him.

He then looks at the finely made chainshirts and the hand crossbows. "Is the poison just smeared on the bolts or is it some sort of magic?"

He then asks Layne, "Any more charges on the healing wand. I gotta treat the burn or it's going to scar..."

I suggest we heal up using the wand but Dimitrio has spells available if we need them. I would rather keep them because this isn't over yet...

Ahhh, quite true. I forgot the drow poison. 6 (total) of the bolts are smeared with drow poison. You find an empty vial but no full vials of poison.

Careful you don't poison yourself...

Lief moves into the southern room, and looks over the table, as well as the means of retreat. Was the gecko small enough to squeeze through that southern opening? Can we as well?

Dimitrio nods as Lief takes the poisoned bolts, "Better you than me, kid. Just be careful. I think I want one of the little crossbows if you don't mind but just with regular bolts. Maybe some other time, you can teach me to handle drow poison."

Ederin nods his thanks to Lief and makes his way over the drow on the ground, after a quick inspection of the armor he pulls the remaining chain shirt off it's previous owner and stores it in his pack for later Unless he has time to put it on now, in which case that's what he does.

Dimitrio are you keeping one of the silver bracelets?

The gecko could squeeze through the opening (small sized) but not anyone medium sized. Even then, it would have taken the gecko some effort to do it (acrobatics check).

Kaylayne glances at the table, and it's clearly the site of investigation into akata anatomy. You have not yet had time for a full search.

The first minute passes (feel free to do ~5 rounds or so worth of healing) uneventfully. The party scrambles around gathering loot and giving the chambers a quick once over for anything obvious. (take-10 searches accomplished)

All remains quiet, though the party knows the opposition knows they're there. After all, someone closed the door a few moments ago.

You may proceed with your second minute of actions.

Chainmail takes 4 minutes to don... 2 minutes if someone is helping you. So I'm guessing the armor is not being put on quite yet. Unless you all wish to wait that long... Let me know.

"Pass that over here when you're done." Ederin motions to the wand and when he get is, points it at his wound and watches it heal. He hands the wand to whoever needs it next then follows Lief toward the door after picking up the potion vials on the drow. He keeps an arrow pointed toward the door and looks at the rest of his companions a little sheepishly.

"Your skin is scarring? Oh you poor dear!" Kaylayne sarcasms gently as she calmly puts on the chain shirt, trying to get it fit properly. "Someone get to Dimitrio before he passes dead away!"

Lief opens the door (please position yourselves on the map) to reveal what looks like a makeshift barracks. Six net hammocks supported by ornate metal frames made level by stacks of stone stand around the edges of this cavern. To the west, a leather curtain hangs over an exit, through which the sound of churning waves rumbles.

Other than the sound of waves, the room is silent. It is currently empty of drow as well. Apparently no one is napping...

Lief would have needed to open the door for Kaylayne's light (and he said he was waiting), and Kay wanted to do a quick Detect Magic scan of the table before moving on...anything?

Kaylayne moves up, using two more charges of her wand of magic stone (7 stones now). In addition, she casts Barkskin on Garridan (50 minutes, +2 NA) and she casts Heroism on Ederin (50 minutes, +2 NA).

"This here is a barracks so there's more people here. The wizard was not it."

Kaylayne's light will guide us forward. I thought I saw you pack some antitoxins for this trip. The bard face palms himself, "Desna take me for a fool. Yes I do have some... but only two. I know I should have bought some more but that can't be fixed now so don't judge."

He pulls them out, "I hate to say it but I think Garry and I should take them. We are the ones that are most likely to be up front and personal..."

unless there's an argument, Dimitrio will chug one down and give the other to Garry. Dimi will also chug down a barkskin potion although he won't like it because it will make his skin feel all 'scaly and rough'. :) Did I tell you guys that I'm having blast playing Dimitrio? :)
