Sorry my error is one of using the wrong name: when I said

Enhanced Advantage: Close Combat Rank 2 Cost 2

I should have written:

Enhanced Advantage: Close Attack Rank 2 Cost 2

Each rank of Close Attack gives a +1 to all close attack values not just 2 of them.

I found a spreadsheet for an interactive M and M charsheet. The output for Tee, a PL 5 Martial Artist(MA) is:

I like this build if you approve. Tee's to be a very broadly trained MA, that acquired superspeed. Thank you for your time and efforts.

Sorry about semi-absence, I will get us moving again over the weekend.

Getting concerned here, it's been a week since your last post GM Xzaral. Do you need a break, if so, please say for how long? If you cannot continue at all, also say so. I like this and want to continue but if real life has consumed your time, it's best to be realistic and admit it and tell us. If you are going to resume please let us know, and if not really let us know. Thank you.

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

I should have mentioned something, but I got hit with a quality audit at work this week which consumed a significant amount of time. Being the primary individual responsible, I had to host the event, compile the information into nightly reports, address all issues, and generally beat head against desk. Plus I don't know how they keep going.

I still have to respond to several items that came up, but I should have time back now. And the next one shouldn't happen until November, and that one is a lot less intensive.

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

Just piping in to say waiting on a couple responses.

Gumshoe:
If you'd like to give an idea of what you want to tell Detective Buckner, we can do so through a narrative to help speed along. Your call though.

Also I've heard back from Nanael's player. He won't be able to continue at this time, so I'll be removing her for now. If he's able to find time to come back, I am leaving it open.

Checking in. Dan had a bunch of stuff to do on his own during the lab scene, so I'm going to keep quiet and let everyone else have some spotlight time.

Android

Sorry to hear Nanael's out for now. Hope he's able to come back soon.

Yeah, I thought I'd do the monologue there, get her response, and then sort of summarize the rest to get back on track with the meeting.

I am having trouble trying to come up with a costume concept for Straightjacket. It would likely be based on his wresting uniform, but how to have a teenager fabricate a costume which is compatible with stretch and growth powers strains my credulity.

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

Hmmm, always a valid concern. Funny, too, I was just reading somewhere yesterday about how the Toby MacGuire Spiderman's suit isn't something a high school kid probably could have come up with.

There's a few different thoughts on this one I could help with.

1) Your powers affect your clothing. This is the basic and cheesy idea that somehow your powers works on your clothes too without any explanation. I'm not saying it's a bad idea at all, but if verisimilitude is your concern, probably not the best option.

2) Go for comedy. A potential short-term solution is to simply say it doesn't. The full wrestling outfit holds long enough to eventually become shorts like while in expansion form. This could lead to one of the others offering a solution.

3) Super textiles. Super heroes get their costumes from some place. Possibly a research company or some other concept where you are able to buy a stretchy material that works. Or of course the lady from the Incredibles (okay, I liked that movie ALOT). Once again, slightly off the wall, but a little more grounded than 1.

Now these are just a few thoughts on the subject for now. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Well, the group just starting out. It makes sense that the costumes wouldn't be great.

Maybe Evil Eye can take the costumes that we throw together and magic them into something more impressive.

There's also the option of going for a less overtly superhero-y costume, like Rorshach (trenchcoat, mask and hat), or the Punisher (tactical gear and a spray painted skull). We'd be less flamboyant and able to change in and out of costume quicker, which definitely has it's benefits.

Straightjacket could actually wear an actual straightjacket. They are normally put on from the front and secure in the back with straps and velcro. He could wear it backwards like a jacket with super long sleeves, which his arms would expand into when he uses his powers.

I think it would look pretty cool to have the sleeves dragging on the ground until he activated his powers and then used them to immobilize people. It could also lend itself towards a "crazy" superhero persona.

Just a thought.

I think a straightjacket would make it rather hard to handle anything- even unfastened. Of course that's central to their design.

I think the fact that the Evil Eye is wearing a ten dollar cape and a random puffy shirt hilarious. Maybe if we get better at the hero gig, it might be time to work on better costumes!

Hi, it's been three weeks since I clarified my character revisions in post 151. I'd like know if that build is approved or not. Any comments or questions, GM or anyone?

just a quick note to say I'll be out of communication for the next few days.

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

Sounds like the general consensus is to head to meet Mars. I'm going to be setting up the next scene.

Just a couple things. I'm assuming as of right now that Gumshoe, Breakneck, Straightjacket and Evil Eye are heading there together. My assumption is that Prime will meet them enroute, and Dan will follow. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's good for me.

Android

I am debating how to differentiate Prime from Dr. Prim, as I don't really envision him wearing a costume. I am wondering if it would be ok with the GM to have him be unrecognizable when he presents himself as Prime. I am envisioning him having glowing eyes, circuitry visible just under the skin, plates and panels that open to reveal weapons and mods and such. When he is Dr. Prim, he looks completely human.

I noticed in the main book that the example character Princess has a special ability worth one point that allows her not to be recognized as the same person as her civilian identity, because for some reason, people just don't notice. Kind of like Clark Kent/Superman. Would something like that be appropriate here?

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

Absolutely!! One of the advantages of a system like M&M is that it lets you create a character you envision like that! I am completely fine with a change like that.

Also I need to know about above.

Grrrr. I know I've responded to that twice now (including at least once to this quoted post). I swear someone's deleting my posts.

Watches for Postmonsters. I will make sure this time.

Yes, the revised build is fine.

You know what, I'm fine with that. Responded :)

Yes, the revised build is fine.

Thanks, was beginning to wonder if my posts were visible. And didn't you know? These boards don't run on a computer, it's a sorta bound demon. The price is that it eats posts and maybe the occasional poster. :)

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

Beggining rant

Yea, I really wasn't trying to ignore you. I thought I had responded. Then I saw your above post and responded again. I was looking up thread when I responded to Prime and saw it wasn't there again, and kinda flipped out. For some reason when I responded this time, it kept going to preview instead of submit, so I ended up copying what I wrote, closing out Internet Explorere, reloading paizo forums and replying normally with a small addition at the bottom. And now it's a double post.

Ending rant now.

Android

I've had that same error as well, where every time you press Submit Post, it instead just previews it no matter what you do. It's extremely frustrating.

The above plan is ok, DM.

OK with the plan.

Yep

I wasn't with the main group. Basically I was hiding nearby and evesdropping.

Once knowing where they planned on going, I was pretty much going to head there and keep it up.

So should I assume I'm in a dark area of the room and that both sides don't know I'm there?

Just a heads up that next week I will be attending Gencon from the 14th to the 18th. During this time I will be pretty much unreachable for the most part (might check the forums every now and then, but I doubt I'll have time for any posting).

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

Back from the convention and catching up now. I'll be moving the game along tonight.

How would this game handle something like throwing one character into another?

Yes, I know I keep coming up with weird stuff to try. With Supers games I like to stress test the systems to get a feel for my options and limits. :)

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

So good and bad news.

At work I've finally gotten the requested help hired and training begun. Problem is now I have to have that training completed ASAP (blargh). So my work days are going to be long through the end of September getting that completed (and possibly into October).

What that means is that slow updates will be a thing through that timeframe. I'll have time this evening to update, but probably not again until Saturday. So I'm leaving this up to you guys. We can do another hiatus until then or deal with slow updates.

I do apologize for this.

Android

I'm out of town at least until the weekend, so I wont be able to post for a bit. Hope everything holds till I get back, but if you need to, feel free to autopilot me.

That's too long a hiatus, picking back up would be very hard. We can go slow with twice weekly updates through to Oct. If you think you'll be below a post a week though then a hiatus is inevitable, not much difference really.

That's my opinion what do the rest of you think?

Android

I feel the same. I don't mind a slow pace, and every time a game takes a hiatus, some of the players tend to get lost and drop off the map in the process.

Slow is fine.

Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1

I can do more frequently than one a week for certain. It's just getting two days like Monday/Tuesday (both mostly full day shifts) followed by an opening. I could rant for awhile, but I'll save you guys that pain :D

I'll move the combat forward (and try to respond to Dan's question above!)

I honestly don't mind stress testing at all!! It gives me a reason to learn new rules to the game!! And remember I'm learning as well, so don't have all the answers at my fingertips quite yet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At it's core, throwing an opponent is based on tripping an opponent.
TRIP STANDARD ACTION:
You try to trip or throw your opponent to the ground.
Make a close attack check against your opponent’s Parry
with a –2 circumstance penalty on the check. If the attack
succeeds, make an opposed check of your Acrobatics or
Athletics against your opponent’s Acrobatics or Athletics.
Use whichever has the better bonus in each case.
If you win, the defender is prone in an area adjacent to you
of your choice. If you lose, the defender immediately gets
another opposed check to try and trip you. If it fails, the
trip attempt ends.
Now this just throws them to the ground. I did some research and it looks like, while it's not laid out in the rules, it's considered one of the things you use Extra Effort for (this may be 2nd edition instead of 3rd). It does seem to be a good idea though, as it helps limit when it's being done. Throwing a villain into another is pretty awesome. Making it a gimmick not so much.
So for future reference, that's how I'd like to run it. Any further questions, please let me know.
Slow is fine with me. Also, I will be at a gaming con from this evening through Sunday evening. Posting may be a touch intermittent. I will have a computer handy, but I may be pressed for time between game slots.
Just to be clear, I am holding me peace since Straightjacket is a bit out of his depth and wants to yield to people with more experience on that decision. His inclination is to not let them go, but if someone wiser thinks the information is worth it, he will be willing to go along.
Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1
I'll be moving to the next encounter tonight.
Just an FYI, everyone has gained 1 Hero point, and 2 Power points. You can choose to spend the Power Points now, or save for later.
GM:
Have I met any of these guys during my government days? I was more black-ops, and these guys were the poster boys, but I figure there might have been cross-over sometimes, possibly to do with my rescue.
Or I might have gone up against them when I was a villain.
Thoughts?
Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1
Dan:
The only one you've had contact with at this point is Dr. Metropolis himself. Going over what I have written down, I'm thinking he was one of the heroes who helped to capture you. You vaguely recall those events, of him altering the very environment to eliminate shadows, lights becoming every which way, walls smoothing out, escapes cut off. He was quite powerful, yet he was also quite calm during the entire time. This is strange behavior from the man, but only from what you recall.
Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1
I'll move this game along this afternoon.
How would it work if I wanted to grab someone and teleport with them against their will?
Dan Cranston wrote:
Teleport Description wrote:
You can move instantly from place to place without crossing the distance in between. You can teleport yourself and up to 50 lbs. (mass rank 0) of additional mass a distance rank equal to your effect rank as a move action. Unwilling passengers get a Dodge resistance check to avoid being taken along.
You can only teleport to places you can accurately sense or know especially well (in the GM’s judgment). You retain your position and relative velocity when you teleport. So if you are falling when you teleport, you are still falling at the same speed when you arrive at your destination.
Teleport is meant for use on or around a planet. For things like traveling to distant planets or stars, apply the Space Travel effect of Movement as a “hyperjump” or similar power.
Bolded mine. The DC would be your teleport rank +10.
What's my teleport rank? 13?
Male Demigawd Nerd 5, Dungeon Master 6, RPGA GM 2, PFS GM 1
Teleport rank is 3, so DC is 13.
