Odric's mounting anger is not directed at his friend, but he snaps at him just the same,
What about the poor craftsman who is about to spend a month's wages to try to cure his dying child of the Blood Veil?
Odric shakes his head definitively.
We move now.
There is risk either way. Grym agrees with action now.
Gaius Lirsiiv
Did Morkeleb do his note/turn the dude in thing? That was neat and I approve.
I'm just curious as hell to see what's in here, and getting some more evidence is good. I'm popping that lock as soon as Sandor has his say.
I don't suppose we can try to do this quietly, Odric? :)
Sandor Stouthammer
Fella's I am all fer removin this scum right now. But even though me blood's a boilin, I be wantin to caution about movin to soon. Now I'm sure we can handle her and the guards easy enough, but I have a few things ta point out.
Now lets take a look at who she is scammin, we are in a more affulent part of town, so the cost while expensive might not hurt like it would for the poor. Now I'm not tryin ta defend her, but gents as far as we know she ain't forcin anyone ta buy her cure. So I believe tha term is buyer beware
Fer her ta be pullin this bold scam means that shes either got a silver tongue, magicks like Morkelb, er both. Now lets say we do go in and stop the sales while she has hundreds in line, and she does have a silver tongue or magicks ta coerce them ta help defend her.. Lads I don't want ta be hurtin the innocent because they are scared of the plague and are tryin anythin ta avoid dyin from it. Lets wait till she closes 'n the crowd leaves. Sandor's eyes light up with a sudden inspiration Then we put 'er outta buisness 'n take her ill gotten gold and donate it ta tha bank ta help with findin a real cure his eyes flash over to Gaius as his inspiration takes a twist for the rogue of course any donation from Lavenders ill gotten gold would 'ave ta have our expenses finders fee taken from tha top
What say ya gents go now and risk gettin some innocents bloodied and the thankfull yet dissapointed look the Field Marshal will give us, or waitin a few bells ta lessen tha risk?
Morkeleb the Mighty
Sandor, you surprise me. I would think you'd feel as I do--that "buyer beware" does not apply when the seller is using subterfuge and trickery to specifically play on the fears of the sick in a time of crisis. Granted, our reasons for this being a problem are likely different, but still . . .
.
In any case, I have difficulty suffering a fraud to continue besmirching a noble profession, and stealing from desperate folk in the process, for even a day.
.
I do think your fears regarding the crowd are legitimate, but I also think that, were our confrontation of this trickster to include voiciferous denouncement of her sham product, it would give these innocents enough pause that, combined with our obvious might, woudl prevent them from openly attacking us.
.
So, while I respect your motives, I find myself agreeing with Odric and Grym that we should move to shut this operation down before more people get fleeced. Besides, we have no idea whehter the potions she's selling are safe--they could be actually harming folk. Not ot mention the fact that there are sick people in this crowd, and those nearby will aslo get sick--so she IS contributing to the Veil's spread, and not its cure. she should be stopped--NOW.
Sandor Stouthammer
Now see Morkelb, I do agree wit ya me friend. Like I said at tha beginnin of me statement. I'm as angry as the rest of ya. But I wanted ta play a lil bit of devils advocate and see if discretion be the betta part of valor. Obviously it's not now lets get ta some head thumpin. Oh n if ya be puttin anyone ta sleep make it Lavender.. cuz I will like hittin the orcs
Dungeon Master S
Are you ready? What's the plan?
Gaius Lirsiiv
I'm not picking this lock unless we get our plan straight.
I just want a peek. This is the apartment. We can likely just poke around a little and maybe swipe a couple of samples and some evidence. I don't want to go in blades blazing.
If some of you wanted to go bust in the front and give me a diversion, that might be fun and would accomplish the goal of shutting this down.
Ferox Kerr
I have no problem going to the front to provide a distraction. *cough* The Bank would certainly be interested in anyone professing a cure. I can approach the front in my capacity as an Inquisitor on official business. *cough*
Odric the Stout
Odric will provide Ferox with muscle. He follows the inquisitor silently.
Gaius, pick the lock, infiltrate the apartment and find evidence. If you can gain access to the front room where we can directly address Lavender, do so.
At that point we will have the lady surrounded.
Objective 1: Get evidence
Obj 2: Stop the fraud
Thorgrym the Tracker
Grym quietly chuckles to himself at the dwarf calling him a back door man...
But the ranger puts that aside and gets his game face on. One hand on his blade the other keeping a tight lead on his trusty dog.
Dungeon Master S
I've updated the map. The building to the south is the apartment, while the one to the north is the shop.
Ferox Kerr
Ferox moves to the front of the store and starts parting the crowd to gain easy access to the entrance.
Move aside! Official Bank business. Move aside!

I am going to assume that we allowed enough time for Gaius to pick the lock and skulk thru the apt to get in position to help if necessary, or are we going to enter apt and front door at the same time?
The Dwarf gives the mean face to the Orc's.. but well his helm hides the expression.
Dungeon Master S
It's up to you guys. The thugs and peasants are on there now.
Sandor Stouthammer
I like the crowd, but I would assume that the Guards and Ms Vendra Loaggri would be inside the shop. Especially with what looks like a glass window. From what I am assuming is that Ferox taking lead with Odric and I his muscle. Then Gaius, Morkelb, and Grym will be skulking through the apartment to the back (and please take back to mean the other exit/entrance) of the shop. In my best Bill Murray voice from caddyshack... typical Pincier movement
Dungeon Master S
You guys are all positioned to charge into the store...
Thorgrym the Tracker
Reminder: Step 1, Back Door Team enters, attempts to gather intel and persuade Lavender to voluntarily stop.
Step 2, Front Door Team attempts to disperse crowd. Gains entry (possibly by force) and brings Lavender to the FM if she refuses to quit.Waiting on Back Door Men.
I think we are ready Gaius. Do your thing on the door.
Thorgrym the Tracker
Thorgrym sneaks in after Gaius ready to provide backup, Bucho slinks in after Grym...

"Excuse me Mr. Inquisitor-type. I see what this is. You think that the high and mighty Abadar gets first dips without waiting in line. Well, let me tell you, it's first come - first served here. I'll not have you disrupting things. Either get in line or get out before I call the guard. She looks around at the crowd, reading them skillfully. "Unless you think you're going to SHUT DOWN the cure while you "investigate" us. I thought we default to innocent in Korvosa?! Shall I tell these people that you're ROBBING them of their cure?"
Odric the Stout
Odric enters on the heels of the Inquistor.
"Madam, we met your shill, he confessed all. At this moment he is under arrest and preparing to trade his total cooperation for light punishment. He *will* be providing testimony against you. Given this, your only hope for mercy is total and complete cooperation. Disperse this crowd peaceably, give us the 2 potions for inducing and removing the false symptoms, and stop selling the fake cure immediately. I give you only this promise; if you act nobly now that the ruse is up I will advocate for you to the authorities. If you want to play this out, I will *shut you down*."
The burly man rests his massive right hand on the pommel of his Falchion. His left hand toys with the by now quite famous taloned pommel of The Eagle. As he flexes his considerable bulk and relaxes it, the creak of his harness and the stretch and tinkle of his chainmail make for a menace not to be ignored.

** spoiler omitted **
The ranger wipes a sudden sheen of sweat from his brow. He was happy to have found the hidden door, but couldn't believe how close he came to getting an acid bath. He recalls their first adventure together when Gaius took a beaker of acid from Lamm's alchemist. Handsome Gaius wasn't so handsome lying nearly dead on the ground w/ half of his face melted off.
He turns to the Calistrian Rogue and nods a quick "thanks", for the trap warning.| Odric the Stout |
Odric brings her to the corner and allows Ferox to collect evidence.
Message to the Back Door Men: "She has surrendered to us. We need to get her safely to the FM. Can we get her out the back? We also need help in here getting the evidence sorted out and collected."
Madam, where are the potions I asked for? Please direct my associate to them. If there are any traps or shenanigans, I expect you to tell me about them now. No shenanigans will be tolerated. Finally, I ask that you task your security guards to disperse the crowd calmly in order to prevent a riot or injury to the public *or your establishment*"
Odric keeps her safely in the corner and watches her closely, ready for any shenanigans.

Giaus closes his eyes and whispers a prayer to The Lady In The Room, casting Guidance.

The figures of Ferox and Odric are indeed very intimidating.
I suppose the dwarf in full plate with a wicked looking axe was obscured by the two larger men. j/k
Ya two ugly Orc bastards can drop ya weapons, leave and never look back. This is a 10 second offer if'n ya don't ya will be going ta the Field Marshal with this disgusting piece of smelly filth
Dungeon Master S
Sandor's scars and demeanor are plenty intimidating, the or take you up on your offer.
Experience points come after the southern team finishes its search
Sandor Stouthammer
If Grym and Odric want to go turn her in myself and the rest can search this place. I would suggest removing any items she carries and binding her. I will also after tis place is searched make a closed forever sign and board it up. Maybe the proceeds from here can go to the Bank
Sandor Stouthammer
After Odric and Ferox leave, I shut the front door, and proceeded to search everywhere. I will do obvious places first, and since time is not an issue so I can take 20 for a 26 check. Yes I know the entire shop will take me a long time.
