The store itself seems to be uninteresting (and takes Morkeleb and Sandor about an hour fifteen to search. There are numerous simple perfumes, and stacks upon stacks of the miracle cure. I don't know if you guys said what you do to her, but she is armed with a dagger and carries two wands in her belt.
The next door apartment is a bit more interesting. Bits of broken crates and barrels cover the floor of this dilapidated apartment. A tun of oily liquid, its lip level with a man’s chest, fills a corner of the room, a well-used canoe oar sticking out of it. Next to it squat several large casks of murky water and two stacks of boxes—one holding dozens of small ceramic vials with magenta stoppers, the other holding a mismatched collection of delicate perfume bottles. The apartment’s kitchen nook holds another crate, this one filled with broken shards of multicolored glass. Despite being in shambles, the apartment smells delightful—a mixture of spices, flowers, and exotic oils. There are also plans for a "cure" consisting of adding sugar to a melange of cheap perfume. There is also a ledger detailing the profits. A note written into the margin estimates that in 2 week's time, she would have earned enough to skip town.
XP: 267 each
Your actions in peacefully solving this "problem" lead to the saving of 700 additional lives during the Blood Veil epidemic.
Odric the Stout
Odric confiscated the wands in order to prevent her from using them to defraud any more people. In case she needed to defend herself against an angry mob, he gave the dagger into the keeping of the guards who relieved him or her so she might regain it at some point.
He turns the wands over to Morkeleb, and asks that if they are not entirely useful that we consider selling them in order to raise money for a keen falchion.
Morkeleb the Mighty
Odric, I'm studying to create magic weapons and armor. I will soon be able to craft such a weapon--for the cost of supplies only.
and time, of course! would cost 4000 gp, 8 days
Use Zaralla's Deck to indentify the wands.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25

Odric, I can craft you the Masterwork Falchion at anytime prior to adding magic to it for the cost of materials also. So if you wanted a MW Adamantium (or other special material) Falchion that Morkelb can magic later on I can do that at anytime.
Looks like this is where she made her "cure" at. Ohhh look at this a ledger detailin 'er actions. Well the Field Marshal will like this
I take the ledger, and help Morkelb carry anything that he thinks is of value. Board up the place, and head back to meet the rest at the Field Marshal's office.
Anything left 'ere fer us ta do fella's?
Everyone Else: 5871

Job well done everyone. Little or no resources expended, goals achieved.
I take it my disarm worked, and I now have some more Alchemist's Fire. Any other goodies in the secret compartment or is the post above the sums of our search?

[spoiler=Gaius & Grym] The two of you discover mostly useless materials for the perfume store, but a simple (and locked) safe is resting in the corner. It's clearly seen recent use.
Sandor Stouthammer
Locked safe? hmmm I can assist Gaius on the roll. The Dwarf slips off his gloves and helm, removes his seldom used but none the less impressive tool set hold the jokes plz , and gets down to work with Gaius on the safe's lock.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 2 = 20 Maybe a -3 armor pen.. up to you DM. But with that being said, either a 20 or a 17 is enough to give Gaius an additional +2 to his roll.
I am not sure if just taking off my gloves and helm are enough to remove my -3 dex penalty.
Morkeleb the Mighty
Morkeleb takes the two wands. One he hands to Gaius. I can use this but not with certainty. It's a wand of Remove Disease, 6 charges. Something tells me we'll be using it soon . . . as he eyes Ferox.
This other wand contains Charm Person. While useful, I find that any spell which can be resisted is a tricky thing in a wand. I'd rather cast Charm Person myself, as my own training makes the spell much harder to resist. Unless anyone objects, I have no problem selling this.
would sell for 270 gp
Sandor Stouthammer
I'd be thinkin we keep that remove disease wand to use on ourselves, or possibly as a barganin chip. I'd also be thinkin that since we've searched Logarri, looked round tha shop 'n livin quarters tha key ta 'er safe would be 'ere somewhere. If not take it back ta me forge I can open it there
Dungeon Master S
Sandor helps Gaius, but Gaius needs to make the roll for the actual attempt :-)

Charm Person is on my spell list. Gaius will take it. I'm pretty sure that means I can use it.

Regarding the, "locked", safe...
Gaius casts Guidance
Disable Device is +12 with Guidance and Sandor's assistance. If the lock quality is indeed simple, I should be able to take 10 and still accomplish the task.
Take 10. Result is 22. Enough?
Dungeon Master S
No, you can't succeed on a ten, but you can take your time with it. Inside, stacked neatly are 112 Sails, 65 Crowns, and a perfume bottle made of Lapis Lazuli.
Sandor Stouthammer
Agreed. Violence should only be an absolute last resort; other, less risky methods are almost always preferable!
Bah!!

Now I assume we all link back up at the Field Marshal's.
So what is our divided total loot?
Odric's 211.666 gp + how much from the Haul after what is going to be sold is sold?

You return to Citadel Volshyenek. The Field Marshall and the Abadaran brother are just finishing up with a prisoner when they greet you.
FM: "It's funny, you've made quite the friend Morkeleb, the prisoner has been insisting that you can vouch for him. hehe. He'll be there for a week or so, but we might even offer him a job as an informant when he gets out. Right about now we don't have any leads warranting your involvement, why don't you take a few days. If anything comes up, I'll get a message to you."
Brother Ishani: "Gentlemen, your efforts have helped save our city. Here is the rewardpurse. My the First Vault ever remain your financier."

The next morning dawns: What is the date again?
Ferox: 1d100 ⇒ 6

Bucho: 1d100 ⇒ 3
Gaius: 1d100 ⇒ 72
Morkeleb: 1d100 ⇒ 42
Sandor: 1d100 ⇒ 84
Ferox: You awake with a fever, your skin is splotchy. You feel drained. You take CON damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 and CHA damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2.

The ranger nods in agreement at Sandor's reciting some old dwarven saying. As long as they deserve it, I don't mind killing anybody...
Gaius Lirsiiv
Gaius casts Remove Disease from the wand, upon Ferox.
Sadly, Restoration is out of reach at the moment.
It's sad I don't know this, but who's our Treasure Clerk? What's the split after the reward?

I got nothing. I just want to get the money.
As far as I can see, we got:
1000 GP
wand of cure disease
wand of charm person
unspecified number of alchemist's fire
perfumes
Finally after reading back, I think we should go back to her apartment and dump the oily tub with the oar in it. If I were her I would hide something at the bottom.

You find nothing of note in the liquid, but Odric is stuck smelling like an available woman in her 20s for the next Eau de toillette: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 days.
Sandor Stouthammer
Well to move this along. For the next several days I will assist any of my friends that need it I will also check in and work at the smithy a bit.
During one of the days I will go to a good bakery I know and buy a few popkins, and take them to the Soldado home sometime in the late afternoon with a few hours of daylight left.
Once I get near their house I will stop and watch the goings on. Once I verify that Tayce is home, and the 3 children are there and occupied. I will approach and knock on her door.
Afternoon Ms. Soldado. He says with a smile showing the good side of his face I was just in that area, 'n though I'd check on ya and the children. Oh and I stopped by me favorite bakery 'n got all of ya some popkins. Here their still warm.
She takes the popkins and invites the dwarf in and heads to the kitchen to sit. Sandor can see the question about to form, and speaks just before she can get it out.
Ms. Soldado he sees the frown start from his formality I mean Tayce. I'm afraid ya have seen through the ruse, 'n know that I planned ta come here. But I have a few questions ta ask ya before the children all run in.
Her expressions get a slight guarded look no no no lass, it's nottin bad. Tayce, after your brother Grau asked us to help you, and seeing the way your family respects and cares about each other touched me deeply. It made me want to try to help your family out as much as possible. See Tayce, I 'ave a dream of opening my own smithy here in this grand city. But ta do so I will be needin some help, since it seems like the city be needin somethin from me right now.
Sandor realises that he is gettin long winded hangs his head and mutters stupid dwarf just spit it out before the kids get here in a normal voice Tayce, what I be needin ta know is if ya would be interested in helpin me wit my smithy when I get it open. What my vision is having ya sellin n takin orders, being the lady merchant in front of the shop, and if they want and you approve I would be willin ta have Charlo, and Rello as apprentices with no fee. I am not knowin when I will be openin up the shop, but would love ta let you think about this offer. Talk to your brother if ya must. I do have one question for ya. Can ya read, write, n work with numbers?
At this point Sandor hears the running feet of Brienne as she comes down the stairs. Mama guess what I... she stops seeing the dwarf as he turns ta make sure she only sees the good side of his face. Suddenly she is bashful, and burries her face in her mothers skirt.
The conversation changes to a different topic as he watches the children devour the popkins with child like glee. He stays for about an hour soaking in the good family feeling, then heads home promising to stop back again sometime soon and that he will bring more popkins.
DM I won't be spending any money except for the popkins, not sure if we have enough time for profession checks or if anyone wants me to assist with any tasks or rolls. If you would like an assist for a skill check please feel free to roll for my assist when you make your roll. This I hope will speed things up in posting.
Waiting till the DM gives us our next mission.

Odric the Stout
Odric spends a low-key week hanging out at the brewery tinkering with his recipes. He spends quite a bit of time working with Kip on reading and various weapon skills as well.
He brews quite a bit of beer and enjoys himself thoroughly. He awakes refreshed on the morning of 15 Desnus and heads to Sandor's house looking for the group.

While the city continues to fight the Blood Veil, your ...particular set of skills, isn't called upon for some time. You have a total of EIGHT days to rest, train, draft, and ply a trade.
Given that Rich is MIA for some time, we'll be lenient on him for combat, but I'll progress the story as normal.
8 days (fill in after you've filled all 8.)

Grym spends his mornings out walking and training with Bucho. He continues to work on Bucho's tracking even spending a few coins (3 gp) hiring some out of work fellows, to lay tracks for the dog to find them. The afternoons are spent going to the fencing salle and putting some good time in their. The time doesnt always line up but the ranger heartily loves facing Sgt Grau on the strip when he gets the chance.
Twice Thorgrym manages to go over to check on Kip and make sure he is taking care of old Gramps. Hearing about Odric teaching Kip some fighting moves, the ranger gives a few of his own. He teaches the young lad a few unarmed brawling moves. Especially ones that don't take call on massive strength (which Odric probably doesn't even realize he has.)
The ranger also finds an evening to stop by the Temple of Sarenrae to see if his old mentor Aliah is there. If she is in, he offers to take her out to dinner. And honestly asks her for any information she knows about the blood veil. (17gp spent between tithe and possible dinner)
diplomacy 1d20 ⇒ 6
Grym also takes a day to go outside the city walls for some hunting w/ Bucho. The ranger keeps his sling handy and between a bullet or Grym's jaws they try to bring back some small game, (rabbits in particular)
hunting/survival 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 so I can give the dog a +2 right?
Bucho's hunting/survival 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
If they catch more then two rabbits, they stop to give one to the gate guards. The rest are takes to Sandor's house that evening for a roast, where I assume everyone would be invited.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
I will most definatly craft that falchion for my friend Odric. After meeting with Odric, Sandor is elated. He will finally get his warrior friend who will be someone of note a weapon that he made. Sandor has heard the tavern tales surrounding the group, and this can only be good for buisness. Now lets see to do something special.
Lets try the same thing as last time 2 helpers for 6sp/day for a +20, and accelerated crafting. Craft DC's are 25 item, and 30 MW
Conversion to SP: Total: 1250sp Item: 250sp Masterwork: 1000sp
Craft Day 1: 1d20 + 11 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 20 = 44
Craft Day 2: 1d20 + 11 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 20 = 39
Day 1 Item: 25*44=1260 (Item is 250 so it took 2 Hours to complete)
Day 1 MW: ((30*44)/8)6= 990sp towards a 1000 goal
Day 2 MW: 30*44=1320sp that had 10 left over item is done.
***DM with the 1310sp that are left over can I make a very nice scabbard for him? Say a Combat Scabbard (cost 1gp) with similar artwork that is on the blade? 25gp worth nice shiney's? ***
Total Cost: 128(153)gp.... 125gp + 24sp laborers round up to 3gp + 25gp Combat Scabbard (if dm allows)
Profession Day 3-8: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 4 = 24
(24/7)6=20.57 so 20gp 5 silver 7 cp for my check.
Sandor waits till the group meeting to present the Falchion to him. Yes he knows he could have presented it to him earlier, but he did catch the lad checkin up on the smithy at least once a day. Dinner goes well, and as I go back to get a cask I pull out the cloth wrapped item.
Odric this be the first weapon or armor my friends have asked me ta make fer em. I'm a bit sad that I couldn't talk ya into a good dwarven admantine sword, but I make this out of the best steel that I could get.
Odric takes it with a gleem in his eye. As he unwraps the cloth, he finds a sturdy combat scabbard. The bottom is flared out with extra metal that could easily dent a helm, the top is leather lined to keep the draw quiet, and help stop moisture from entering. The scabbard is also etched with acid a picture of a Mug and a ham hock with the words "THE STOUT" in between. This is framed in on each end with a tribal pattern. The opposite side has the same artwork, but "The Stout" is in Dwarvish.
Odric draws the weapon, noticing that the counterweight is in the shape of a keg tap, and the hilt is perfect for his meaty hands. The blade sits in the scabbard solid because of a perfectly matched pommel tongue and groove. Although it is a slashing blade, Sandor did put a blood letting groove that runs from a few inches from the hilt to where it starts to flare, and inside the groove there is more acid etched artwork that matches the scabbards. Sandors stamp is between the groove and the hilt.
Sandor watches Odric with one eye,and the rest of the group with the other. He is obviously proud of his work, and really hopes the lad likes it. Hey lad stand up test it's weight and balance let me see ya swing it
If the lad likes it Morkelb, maybe you n I can get ta magickin it later when time and um skill permits
Gaius Lirsiiv
Gaius wishes to do some shopping as well as some other things, but I need to know some information about what I want to purchase before I make decisions.
-Gaius will look for a suit of light armor, but I need some that does not hinder movement in the slightest (no armor check penalty) and that doesn't weigh any more than normal leather armor. He has heard rumor that enchanted armor, while still weighing normally if carried, is functionally weightless and doesn't encumber movements while worn. This may be only myth and not actually true.
DM: Is this true? Enchanted Armor used to be weightless for the wearer, I'm not sure if it is by our current ruleset.
-Also looking for a buckler, enchanted as above.
-Also looking for an antique weapon in serviceable condition or better, of a type that I know Field Marshall Kroft uses. Something from the days of Cheliax before the death of Aroden? That may be too expensive, I don't have a lot of gamer experience to judge that.
Dungeon Master S
Nay, it is not. you can get a shirt made of mithral, it's lighter than leather, and far more protective. What kind of weapon is it called?
