Thorgrym the Tracker
Round 1
I know Gaius is first but I'm putting my action in now. This happens as soon as the Calistrian rogue goes. Kinda like a readied action.
As the wizard moves to the tunnel mouth to begin his sleep spell, the ranger creeps forward with his silvered blade ready at hand. His other hand clutched Bucho's scruff tightly. He whispered words of attack to the dog. Anyone could plainly see the dog's nose and then eyes riveted on the group of wererats. The dog was actually shaking he was so keyed up to charge forward after his prey. Grym held the dog tight though he pulled. The ranger was afraid any of the wererats who didn't fall uder the spell might bolt and escape before the heros could capture them. Bucho would be able to cover the distance quicker then any of them and should be able to harry at least one of the wererats long enough that Grym could get close enough to tackle it. Though they were trying not to use violence, Bucho should do minimal damage and certainly nothing that the were creatures wouldn't heal from quickly.
As the ranger watched Morkeleb's spell come to fruition, three of the creatures fell in slumber. The fourth jerked in surprise and Grym let slip the dogs of war... (or just one dog of war)
The brindle dog shot forward as if from a crossbow running full speed to leap upon the lone wererat.
Bucho's attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
bite 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Gaius Lirsiiv
Map needs to be updated. I would have started this encounter as close to the opening as possible, if not right alongside Morkeleb.
Gaius enters the cavern, hand crossbow up and pointed at the standing wererat. The firelight makes the silver-tipped bolt twinkle, and Gaius makes sure the rat man can see it. He stays just within range (30') and fires a silver bolt at the screaming wererat.
Sneak Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
The next one goes in your throat, if you don't stop screaming! Drop your weapon and hit the floor! NOW!
Dungeon Master S
sorry guys, despite is really complicated and I can't do it from my phone. Tony, you can feel free to have started where you wanted as you would have been able to place your guy. Before the spell
Sandor Stouthammer
Round 1
I know Morkelb is before me, but here is my action subject to change slightly if necessary
Move action dictated on Map
While flashing the gleam of silver off my axe and moving up to cut off a retreat Sandor says shuuuushhhhhhhhhh.... quiet lil one we won't hurt ya if ya cooperate
Ready action: If he tries to escape past me chop off 'is leg
Dungeon Master S
Sorry for the poor posting of late. I'm back and ready.
The ambush is sprung with the Enchanter's surprise. Bucho bursts through as if he were a second bolt from Gaius's weapon, and chomps down on the wererat's leg. While his teeth connect, they fail to damage the accursed creature. The wererat nevertheless let's out a scream of shock. He looks East with an expression of hope, like something in the next room over can deliver a defense, or perhaps vengeance.
Morkeleb
Morkeleb the Mighty
ROUND 1
Seeing his companions so competently at the ready to subdue the remaining wererat, and seeing the expectative hopeful look the monster gives the eastern entry, he gets himself ready for what may come.
Pointing both staff, and Burning Arc wand toward the the entrance, he prepares to fire off either enchantment, or evocation, depending on the threat.
Ready action: cast a spell if a bad guy enters this way. If it's a "generic" wererat, spell will be Unnatural Lust. If it is clearly the Head Rat we're here to kill, it will be Burning Arc from the wand. is that specific enough?
Dungeon Master S
Morkeleb and Sandor have gone. Rich is back on Fb, but no word on Pathfinder. So someone pilot Ferox.
Yes, that's specific enough
Ferox Kerr
I'm back. Lots to catch up on
Chris, everyone seems to have been able to snag silver weapons. Would arrows have been available for Ferox to take?
Round 1
Ferox draws his bow and aims at the wererat.
In a quiet but stern voice, Ferox chastens the wererat. Stand down and be quiet, lad. You are outnumbered and outclassed. Look at the strength arrayed against you. Even if help arrives, you will be first to fall. We only want your leader. You can live for another day, or you can die like a common rat in the sewer.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 6 = 22
Dungeon Master S
welcome back Rich, and congratulations again! I really need to get down there sometime soon. I haven't seen you or Tony in way too long.
Absolutely, silver arrows are available.
The wererat simply can't handle the combined threats. The Inquisitor's tone is irresistible. He cowers in fear.
Odric the Stout
Odric runs up to the Wererat cowering in fear. He grabs it by the scuff of the neck and keeping clear of the thing's yellowed teeth shakes it vigorously. He demands to know where Girrigz is holed up.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
I won't kill you, but I can make you VERRRRY uncomfortable for a VERRRRY long time!
Odric gives him another shake and positions his borrowed falchion's silvered point beneath the wererat's navel with the point digging in slightly.
Where is he?!?!
Dungeon Master S
The wererat cowers. The odds are stacked soundly against him. the shock of seeing his comrades drop to sleep only makes it worse.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Versus:
Ferox: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Gaius: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Grym: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Morkeleb: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Odric: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
Sandor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Gaius, from out of the shadows a wererat with a blurry indistinct outline approaches from the shadows. It's a technique you've used yourself. He tries to get the jump on you, but you're ready. Morkeleb, you never saw it coming. He slipped past you somehow...
Still Girrigz knows how to fight, and a silvered rapier darts towards you. rapier: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32, Confirmation roll: rapier: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20. It slides deep into the Calistrian's ribs. damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 5) + 8 = 18!
He shouts as he turns the blade in the wound. "I shall not kill you. Submit to my rule and be remade in my image!"
Begin Round 2 Gaius...
Gaius Lirsiiv
HP: 1/19
Good thing I spotted him. Sneak Attack damage might have finished me!
Gaius smiles, swoons a little and then manages to hold keep his balance. He feels blood in his mouth and he spits a gob in Girrigz's eyes. Girrigz furiously lunges again, but Gaius expected the sloppy stab and turns to the side avoiding the rapier.
That's your offer?
Gaius takes a deep breath and while Girrigz is recovering from his lunge, he springs back and twists between Grym and Ferox Withdraw action and puts his back against the wall behind the inquisitor and the ranger. Careful eyes see him slump just a little and he pulls out another silver bolt but doesn't have the strength to load just yet.
Grym? Please take this. I'm too nauseated to respond properly just yet.
Morkeleb the Mighty
ROUND 2
Technically Grym is first, but I doubt he's going to take out the wererat in one round solo . . .
Morkeleb is slightly stunned at the stealth of the wererat who snuck by him as if he'd been asleep. He curses under his breath at seeing Gaius' near mortal wounding. The wizard looks at his wand, and at his staff, torn briefly with indecision. Then he narrows his eyes slightly and gives a firm nod. He points his staff at the monster.
You are strong, and fast--but can your will compare to mine??
The enchanter then gives a slight smirk as he begins a chant. Each of you hears the chant tugging at your conciousness--it sounds remakably seductive, and you are immediately aroused, if only for a moment, at the thoughts invoked. But the target of the dweomer is the wererat . . .
a sultry red glow emanates from the staff's jewel, and Morkeleb's silibant, whispered chant reaches the wererat's ears. A good leader loves his charges. Show your love to your charges now!!
cast Unnatural Lust on Girrigz, making his "target" the cowering wererat. Will DC 19 to negate.
Thorgrym the Tracker
Round 2
42/39 HPs
The ranger takes Gaius's offered bolt w/ his left hand as the wounded Calistrian rogue slips by. Then Grym moves forward to put his borrowed silvered sword to good use. Though wary he visciously attacks the wererat for the brutal stick he gave Gaius.
Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
silver svord 1d6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 1 = 7
Come Bucho, attack!
The dog runs over to attack from behind and flank.
Bucho's attack 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 12
(non-silver) bite 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Sandor Stouthammer
Sandor moves to where bucho vacated and readies an attack if Girrigz is within range. Hopefully I will get an attack and an aoo as he goes by.
I will update map when I get to my PC unless someone beats me to it
Thorgrym the Tracker
I can't see the map, I hope this is ok.
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Silvered Falchion: 1d20+7 for 2d4+4+2 damage.
between Grym and Bucho's attacks, Odric is probably flanking too
Gaius Lirsiiv
The ranger takes Gaius's offered bolt w/ his left hand as the wounded Calistrian rogue slips by.
Oh! Sorry, I wasn't offering you a silver hand crossbow bolt. I was just adding flavor text--I intend to load my crossbow next round. I meant, "Please take this", as, "Please field this question for me".
Dungeon Master S
Grym's attack is well timed, but between the wererat's natural skill and magical protection, the attack falls short. Bucho charges in, the cave wall blocks the safe approach, and Girrigz seizes the opportunity, AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 and snags the loyal dog with the blade, damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.
Even Odric's mighty blow misses, though he was so close some whiskers may have been shorn.
It's impossible for Odric to flank given that there's a wall opposite the enemy. A teamwork feat would allow everyone involved to flank, but right now only Grym and Bucho gain a +2. Sandor has been moved, but once you see the map you may opt to switch your plan. I'll let you redo the ready if you'd like.
Gaius Lirsiiv
Unnatural Lust on Girrigz, making his "target" the cowering wererat. Will DC 19 to negate.
HOW is that not on Callistria's spell list? :D
Dungeon Master S
Oops....
Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Girrigz shakes his head in anger, resisting the Enchanter's beguilement.
Morkeleb the Mighty
Morkeleb the Mighty wrote:Unnatural Lust on Girrigz, making his "target" the cowering wererat. Will DC 19 to negate.HOW is that not on Callistria's spell list? :D
because it's "unnatural?" heh.

Ahh, gotchya. That makes more sense, I wasnt entirely sure what you wanted me to do w/ said crossbow bolt. But let it be known, that Grym surely will never argue or question a comrade in the heat of battle.
Sandor Stouthammer
Changed my action and map position.. I get no readied action since it was a double move.. didn't provoke any AoO's since the other awake wererat was cowering.
Sandor's tactile error hopefully will not cost the party. He moves down calling the rat out Surrender 'n become a rat??? Now what Dwarf 'n 'is right mind would do a thin like that... Not only are ya a rat, but ya are stupid enough ta try ta rise up against a whole city who would crush ya.. Ya own kind are willin ta hire us ta kill ya so surrender to me or I will be sure ta do just that!!!
Grym.. since Bucho got hit pretty bad on your next turn if you want to have Bucho and I trade positions by 5' steping with each other I am willing to do that so he can withdraw on the following round
This will be the end of round 1 once Girrigz takes his actions this round... soooo up to the DM Now
Initiative Repost:
Gaius = 20
Grym = 17
Morkeleb = 15
Sandor = 12
Ferox = 10
Odric = 8
Wererats = 7
Morkeleb the Mighty
ROUND 2
In my best Gimli voice: "We can take 'em!!"
Growling in frustration that the foe resisted his most powerful magic, Morkeleb changes course. A quick chant, and his staff gem glows green, suffused with red. The glow shoots to the Wizard's eyes, which in turn glow a fiery hue. He glares at the wererat and snarls BURN, rat!
Burning Gaze (round 1 of 3)
Fort save DC 17 or take 1d6 ⇒ 2 fire damage. If damaged, make Ref save DC 17 or catch fire.
Dungeon Master S
FORT: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 Girrigz laughs at your puny magics. Both Sandor and Odric look like scary targets, but Girrigz looks towards whence he came and focuses his fury on the slightly less metal encased Odric:
Attack 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Attack 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 a stab to the hip dmg: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Meanwhile the cowering wererat transforms. He shrinks into the size of a large sewer rat and will scurry away.
[b]Begin Round 3[/dice]
Sandor Stouthammer
Preposting my action before work since I don't think Gaius, and Grym are going to kill him. I am just going to attack, but if according to the map if Bucho and I can trade places with 5' steps, or if Bucho 5' step 1 East on the map then I can get a flank also
Round 3
Attack silver axe expertise: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 - 1 = 12 AC=24 flanking won't even help that
Damage: 1d10 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 1 = 7
Girrigz ya know I be thinkin that I've seen better lookin cockroaches than ya.. in fact the only thing uglier than you is ya mom ohhh the things ones has to do to put his armor to the test to save his friends :D
Ferox Kerr
Round 2
I'm confused. How did Mork get two spells off in this round?
Ferox casts Wrath, bringing the weight of Abadar's anger down on Girrigz.
Odric the Stout
It has been confusing so far, this should help. Reminder, wait until it is your turn to post and use discussion tab more often for OOC stuff.
Summary of combat so far
Morkeleb cast sleep, put out 3 of 4 redshirt wererats
Round 1:
Gaius sneak attacked remaining wererat.
Bucho bit the same wererat, however did not damage it.
Morkeleb readied action to cast Unnatural Lust on whatever came out of the side passage.
Sandor readied action to cut off redshirt’s escape.
Ferox & Odric co-intimidated the redshirt.
Girrigz snuck out of side passage, sneak attacked Gaius (triggers Unnatural Lust – Girrigz makes his save).
Round 2:
Gaius withdraws (1/19 HPs)
Grym & Bucho attack, miss.
Morkeleb casts Burning Gaze, Girrigz makes his save.
Sandor double moved to be adjacent to Girrigz.
Ferox casts Wrath.
Odric, swing and a miss.
Girrigz makes a double attack on Odric, connects on one, transforms into a rat.
Round 3:
Gaius is up!
(Sandor will swing and miss on his turn)
Dungeon Master S
I think Mike mistakenly posted "Round 2" twice and I got tripped up. Apparently Rich is paying more attention than I am....
So let's reset:
Begin Round 3
Sandor has posted, but it's currently Gaius's turn.
Gaius Lirsiiv
Gaius converts Sanctuary into Cure Light Wounds and casts it upon himself.
Cure Light Wounds:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Spiffy.
Then he moves north to the far side of the rock and hides in the shadows.
Stealth:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Dungeon Master S
Unless I missed something Morkeleb's readied action didn't go off, only his intended.
Gaius slinks further back into the shadows as Grym and Bucho...
Thorgrym the Tracker
Grym attacks again seeking to better his first effort.
Svord 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14
damage 1d6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 1 = 3
Grym calls his dog off to let Sandor get into better position.
Morkeleb the Mighty
Morkeleb cries out Help each other!! Grym, have Bucho distract him! Aid Odric, he can score telling blows!
Start using the Aid Another action!! Hit AC 10 (or is it 15?) to give someone else a +2 to hit. THIS STACKS so multiple folks can give our heavy hitter--Odric--+2 per person per round
Ferox Kerr
Round 3
Ferox draws two silver arrows from his quiver.
Korvosa cries out for Justice, Girrigz. Abadar will answer her with your death.
Ferox activates Judgement: Justice.
He takes quick aim and lets loose at the wererat.
Silver Arrow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Silver Arrow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Additional Damage: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 4) + 2 = 12
Dungeon Master S
Blur: 1d100 ⇒ 38 Ferox sinks an arrow into the wererat. (Regular hit.) The damage is minor but very real, and causes a bit of fear.
He's no fool and sees that the odds are stacking up, and knows what you're planning. He takes 2 quick stabs at the weak spots in Sandor's defense:
Rapier 1: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24 Hit: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Rapier 1: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Morkeleb the Mighty
THANK you!! Our illustirous DM keeps missing (ignoring?!?!) my combat posts. I was about to poke him on it. Blurr doesn't count here. has to make a fort save, and if that fails, a ref save to avoid catching on fire. Ih ave better actions for my 3rd round, so I hope he fails his save becuase I'm not doing burning gaze for the 3rd round.
Dungeon Master S
I rolled the save.... it's up there.
Morkeleb the Mighty
I rolled the save.... it's up there.
You rolled a save for the 1st round of Burning Gaze. It lasts for 3; I make 3 separate gaze attacks. 3rd round of combat was the 2nd round of gaze attacks, still gotta save for that
Gaius Lirsiiv
Is that me?
Changing tactics, Gaius steps out of the shadows and lashes out at the wererat with his whip.
Trip Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Vs. CMD
What... The... Holy Hell?
Thorgrym the Tracker
Round 4
The ranger dances forward trying to help Sandor set up a massive ax swing.
Aid another 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Bucho also moves to aid the dwarf and attack at the wererat.
Aid another 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
