As Ferox bolts around the corner back to the group, he's less than his normal stealthy self. With a battle cry straight from the Boneyard, the door bursts asunder.
Combat begins at the places where the party is marked.

Gaius Lirsiiv
Gaius looks curiously up out of the front of the shop window and sees Ferox bolting past, jabbering something about vampires. Just then the door slams open and without missing a beat, Gaius steps to his right, pulls his hand crossbow, loads and fires. The action is so smooth is looks like a single movement.
Hand Crossbow Sneak Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage on Hit: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (4) = 6 plus Drow poison, DC13 Fort Save or goodnight Gracie. Unless it's a vampire, I imagine.
Dungeon Master S
Gaius lands a bolt directly in the monster's eye. Within the span of a heartbeat the eye shoves the bolt back out, and heals itself nearly completely.
Gaius Lirsiiv
Oh, Ferox, would you get in here? There are some people I'd like you to meet.
Knowledge Check: What are these things and how can they be killed?
I'm assuming Religion. +5 is the mod.
Ferox Kerr
Ferox races into the room and takes up position next to Gaius. He knocks his bow and lets loose an arrow at the man in the doorway.
Arrow +1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Ferox wracks his brain to see if he recognizes what these men are(assuming undead).
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Dungeon Master S
Ferox and Gaius, you don't know what they are, but you know they are not men.
Ferox's arrow flies wide to the side just as the creatures launch themselves forward, utterly without fear.
The one outside continues to end around and attack from the rear (you can see him through the window.) The two closest the door burst forward and attack the warriors closest to them:
Slam against Odric: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Slam against Sandor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Neither monster can get through their practiced defenses. The final creature steps into the doorway, seeing no safe path he stares with supernatural power directly into the eyes of Gaius: Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 and just barely, Gaius keeps it together.
Dungeon Master S
Correction, the one outside can't handle the sunlight. Once he sees Ferox run around, he stumbles back into the building.
Thorgrym the Tracker
Grym whirls his sling once over his head and lets fly a bullet toward the vamp making eyes at Gaius.
Sling 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Bullet 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
I believe I can still do this on my turn
As soon as he releases the tiny missle, the ranger orders Bucho forward to attack.
Handle animal 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Dungeon Master S
The bullet slams into its forehead, and ricochets off with no effect. The ranger orders Bucho into the fray. you can also rolls his attacks on your turn.

I know I'm last, but I'm not sure how much it matters since the baddies have gone . . .
Quick healing, can't handle sunlight, tried some form of gaze attack . . .

What is your damage, biotch?!?! Don't you know that "knowing is half the battle???"
ROUND 1, CONT.
Vampire spawn! Not full-blown vampires, but still very dangerous!
Morkeleb coolly pulls one of the patches from the Robe of Bones, and hurls it into the room whence the vamps attacked, hoping to give his undead slave only enemy targets!
Action: throw the Human Skeleton into the room, behind the vamps
Gaius Lirsiiv
What is your damage, biotch?!?! Don't you know that "knowing is half the battle???"
Not the knowledge check. Knowledge Check away, that's one of your jobs, WIZARD! I was calling you a sally for the asking if Morkeleb is smart enough to know given X and Y and if we should run. RUN or FIGHT, but make the G.D. Choice, man! :P You want him to read you off the challenge rating, too?
Morkeleb the Mighty
somebody is reading spoilers not labeled for them. Tsk tsk tsk. My choice to run or fight was based on whether these were REAL vamps or something lesser. His answer was enough for me. Why make the knowledge check if I don't plan to use the info?
.
I guess you must miss me; you can't leave me alone!! :-)

Shut up! I do not!
The spoilers thing is silly. You'd have asked that if we were at the table, and I'd have heard it then. I click on them all.
Sandor Stouthammer
ROUND THE FIRST
I know Odric goes before me, but here is my action just apply it after he posts
Upon hearing our learned mage shout they are vampire spawn, and seeing the unnatural way that the arrow is shoved back out it's eyesocket confirms the Wizards words. Upon the knowledge gained while shopping for special materials for his new axe Sandor realises that he has his wrong axe drawn.
With what looks like an errant swing he lodges the axe in the wooden couter directly behind him free action drop weapon explained.
Chris I really want to use this area as a choke point and keep the vampy infront of me from moving on through. I am unsure where Bucho and Mork's Skele will be located, but it seems logicial on the map that I can make a good case for taking out 1/2 of both of the squares that are between teh counter tops. Is there something that I can do to prevent the enemy from comming any further into the room, if so I do that. If not then the following will be my actions to resolve.
Move action draw alchemical silver Dwarven battle axe, and wedge myself between the counters.
Hey lads keep em in the chokepoint if at all possible.
His words spoken, he proceedes to push hard with the shield trying to keep the one on him off balance, and annoyed. Then just as he hoped the thing grabs at the annoying shield wrapping its hands and claws on it trying to pull it to the side. Sandor then allows the shield to go with the motion throwing the enemy slightly off balance and allowing him to pin both arms between the shield and the counter. Sandor swings his axe intending to cleave the arms off at the wrists before he pops back behind it's protective bastion.
AS MW Axe: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d10 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 1 + 2 = 12
Chris I am assuming that they are HUMAN Vamp spawn so they would qualify for both the Human, and Undead for Ranger Favored enemy and that is why I have an additional +2 on hit and damage. If not plz disregard it
Odric the Stout
Knowledge: Religion (untrained) - does any weapon Odric has have a chance of killing these? 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Odric grabs the vampire spawn directly in front of him in his brawny arms and begins dragging the monster backwards towards the open door and the sunlight. CMB - Drag: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Dungeon Master S
Both spawn lash out at Odric:
Spawn 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 He strikes you on the grab!
Spawn 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
The hit itself is minor damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3, but it has an unnatural and accursed power. Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22. The warrior grits his teeth and resists the unholy power. He drags the creature with him 5'.
Sandor slams the axe head into the monster. You only get one. Once they're undead, they're no longer human. and Alchemical silver weapons do -1 damage. Still, 9 is a solid hit. The beast recoils with a his and eyes the dwarf as his next target.
Gaius!
Gaius Lirsiiv
Gaius slinks through his companions, humming the Korvosan Anthem. He pulls his whip while on the move and lashes out at the vampire East 2 and South 1 of his current position. That should be the one just inside the room, the one that Odric isn't dragging to the window.
Gaius then lashes out with his whip to trip that vampire.
Trip Attack:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He misses wildly, and tries to make it look like an intentional flourish.
Bluff:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Ferox Kerr
Ferox calls out Abadar's Judgement on the vampire spawn, seeking Abadar's aid in their Destruction.
He knocks two arrows and lets fly at the same spawn that Gaius just dazzled.
Arrow +1: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 2 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Arrow +1: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 2 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Morkeleb the Mighty
Focus attacks! Injure one at a time, or we'll never bring them down!
Mr. DM, did the skeleton appear when I intended, behind the vamp front line, inside the room? The answer to that may dicate my next action . . .
Dungeon Master S
yes. He's on the map now.
Ferox hits with both arrows. Only the first seems to injure it, and already the wound is closing. Only the injury dealt by Sandor is still grievous.
The vampire dragged by Odric turns the tides. He pushes into the warrior's pull and tries to pin down his arms. Fangs meant for killing grow in a heartbeat. The big warrior makes a quick attack AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 and connects! damage: 2d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 + 2 = 11 Undaunted the monster grabs at the warrior, Grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 and Odric tears free before a hold is made.
Directly behind, the spawn wounded by Sandor swings his fist in a backhand motion at the dwarf's jaw, slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 and connects only with his helm.
The spawn in the rear strikes out at the skeleton summoned by Morkeleb, slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 and misses!
Finally, the third spawn continues his attempt to dominate, and now eyes the ranger. Grym tries his hardest to resist the attempt Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19, but the ranger's will is too strong this day.
Thorgrym the Tracker
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Round 2
Bucho leaps forward to attack. If Grym can direct the dog to attack the one in the doorway that Sandor is fighting w/ thats what the ranger tries to do. But any attack is better then nothing I guess.
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The strange smell of the undead throws the canine off as he moves in.
The ranger drops his sling and dives into his pouch, just dives right into it. Nobody is sure what he is doing but he is up in two shakes and he is holding the biggest fragging vial of holy water anyone's ever seen.
Next round some lucky spawn will face full of holy pain...
Dungeon Master S
Love the Desperado
Odric again grabs to yank the monster. And again the monster makes an attack: Spawn AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6. Still unfazed, Odric drags the monster 10'! This draws attacks of Opportunity from Sandor, Bucho, Grym and even Morkeleb.
Sandor and Morkeleb!
Morkeleb the Mighty
ROUND 2
Morkeleb takes rare advantage of the distracted enemy and swings his staff in an unpracticed arc . . .
AoO vs. vamp Odric is grappling:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
. . . to no effect.
he then steps away from the monster to a safe spot, and stares into the gem on his staff, chanting lightly. His eyes take on the eldritch glow of the staff--a strikingly eerie green flame surrounds his eyeballs. He then stares with authority at the creature Sandor struck.
BURN, fiend!!
Casts Burning Gaze. Fort save DC 17 or take 1d6 ⇒ 2 fire damage. If he takes that damage, make Ref save DC 17 or catch on fire.
Duration is 3 rounds so I can hit 2 more times.
Dungeon Master S
Odric is not grappling, he's dragging. Similar, but different. Think of a bull rush only backwards.
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 Burn! Ref: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 FIRE!!!
The creature is nailed with Morkeleb's heat vision. The fire quickly spreads through his body and it is all he can do to stay upright. For the quick-eyed among you. You can see the flames reflected in Sandor's silver axe, but not the source.
Thorgrym the Tracker
Still Round 2
AoO vrs Odrics dragging spawn
Still holding the holy water for the spawn fighting Sandor, the ranger sees the chance to get a hit in on the spawn mighty Odric is steadily dragging toward the bright light of day. With his off hand he quickly draws his dagger and slices in to the spawns thigh, hopefully making it easier for Odric to keep draggging it.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Dagger damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Confirm crit 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
hells yeah! My first crit!
Gryms quick offhand knife plunges into the spawns thigh, the ranger then twists the blade visciously opening up a nasty wound
Sandor Stouthammer
With the fierce drag race going on behind me, and for once Sandor is happy that Odric isn't talking about his kilt... he see's an opening for his axe to land w/o hitting Odric's straining forearms and hands.
AS Axe aoo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Dmg: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 -1 for AS already taken
As I rip my axe from the target behind me, I see only the flames reflected rise and try to attack me over the shield. I crouch at the knees and explode up with the shield trying to catch the attackers jaw on the edge, and then the axe flashes forward across the bottom of the sheild to disembowl the Vampy Spawn.
AS Axe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 -1 for AS already taken
Odric the Stout
Round the Third (Advance Post)
I doubt I'll be able to check the game at work, so if my turn rolls around and there is still reason for Oric to drag this joker out the door he will do so. If this makes NO sense, I'll post an action as soon as I can.
Odric continues dragging the unholy beast out the door towards the searing sunlight. He clenches his grip on the thing ever tighter, wincing slightly at the licking flames' heat.
CMB - Drag (no not that kind of drag, Sandor. Kilts are definitively men's clothes)
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Odric the Stout
Odric wrote:wincing slightly at the licking flames' heat. The one Sandor is fighting isn't the one you're dragging, so you're not on fire. :-)
Since it is your turn, you can certainly light my guy on fire. That requires you to post an action rather than sharpshoot me though. Oooooohhhhh....

Ok, Joe informed me that Mike already posted. I stand corrected. It is Gaius' turn.
Gaius Lirsiiv
Gaius takes out his holy symbol and smiles, appearing amused by the prospect. Neither he, nor The Lady In The Room, usually go in for such displays. These are strange days, indeed.
He presents the Daggers of Calistria to the spawn and speaks:
By The Pleasures of life, the stings of Trickery, Lust and Vengence, that which makes blood surge, flesh yearn, and skin tingle, I defy you Un-Dead things!
Channel Positive Energy:1d6 ⇒ 6, DC 12 Will Save for Half Damage
Dungeon Master S
Thanks Joe, I corrected the damage.
Mike, you handle the skeleton attack.
The spawn recoil from the holy light, but fight on! The one being mauled by Sandor doesn't look like he can handle much more.
Ferox!
Morkeleb the Mighty
ROUND 2, SKELETON
The Human Skeleton claws at the vampire in the doorway, behind the fiend Sandor is smiting.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Ferox Kerr
Round 3
Ferox steps to the side away from Odric and his charge. He then nocks another two arrows and lets fly at the spawn harrassing Sandor.
Arrow +1: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Arrow +1: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 - 2 = 24
