Legnar Nevvin |
Legnar watches Stunt happily eat the bone. "Spoiled rotten mutt." he mutters shaking his head. "Now what d'we do?" He says so Calder.
Not sure if Legnar gets a perception check, but in case he does.
Perception 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4, 2) + 2 = 10
Legnar Nevvin |
"Hmpf, This's get'n irritat'n."
Legnar then breathes in deep and...
"NICHOLAS, WHAR ARE YEH LAD!" He yells at the top of his lungs.
Legnar then puts a hand up to his ear and listens to see if he can somehow hear a reply, or any other noises.
Perception 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) + 2 = 13
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |
Here's the second perception roll, 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) + 1 = 9
Not the greatest result, but is it okay go with the glimmer thing enough to inform the others about it? If so, Rylan will take that opportunity to do so
Rylan notices something strange about the light when it hits about the wall to his right, near the dining table. Unable to determine if there's anything but a trick of the eye or something more to it, Rylan casually mentions, "I think there might be something here... I can't make out if it's something about the way the light is reflecting off the wall around this area or if it might be something more". The mage ends his statement with a wide palmed sweep and tap of the wall in question.
stardust |
Oh dear, Legnar. I wish you hadn't done that.
At Legnar's furious shout, stalagtites from far above begin to shake, breaking off and hurling into the walls around the room. The wall near Rylan opens very suddenly, sliding to the right until the wall segment disappears completely.
A hideously large green-skinned creature with a single eye steps forward, focusing its eye of Rylan. Its dark plate armor smeared with the blood of countless enemies, and a powerful great sword in his hands. Behind him another large goblyn similar to the ones you fought in the dining room, stands in chain armor, and wields a heavy battle axe.
Roll For Initiative
Legnar and Ser Calder subtract 2 from the roll, as you were a little less prepared than Rylan and the creatures beyond the wall.
One-eyed goblyn 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) + 2 = 13
Larger goblyn 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 1) + 1 = 6
Ser Calder 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1) = 9
Legnar 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1) = 13
Rylan 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 2 = 11
Legnar Nevvin |
Ragnar smirks, "Whar's tha Lad?! Yeh big one-eyed freak! Start Talk'n!" He says as he charges the one-eyed monster.
Melee: Ancient Dwarven Axe 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) + 6 = 17 |Damage2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 = 9 { +2 Stunt Points, +1 charge/aim, +1 Dual wield
Don't have rule book at the moment. If there are enough stunt points, he uses the one that attacks two creatures in one swing, followed by armor piecing followed by Mighty blow.
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |
At the sight of the stalagtites raining down upon the walls of the room, Rylan instinctively raises his arm as if to ward off any wayward flying debris. With the wall near the mage opening up to reveal the huge one-eyed goblyn, Rylan finds himself standing there- momentarily staring into it's single eye dumbfoundedly before sensibly moving- almost jumping back- away from it and it's fellow goblyn attendant.
Thankfully, the mage manages to keep enough presence of mind to take his wand out once more as he's moving back away from the two creatures- keeping the wandtip pointed in sideways back and forth sweeping motion between the two.
Will take an action to move back away from the two at his full movement rate and another move action to take out the wand and have it upraised into "firing position" alternating back and forth between the two creatures.

Round 1 Results
Legnar and the one eyed giant (About 6.5 feet tall), charge towards one another at the same time, clashing in an epic struggle at the center of the room, a few mere inches away from where Rylan is standing.
The giant's sword cleaves into Legnar. 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5) + 6 = 15 for 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2, 4) + 4 = 16 damage. Legnar, since you and the giant goblyn moved at the same time, you're not close enough to the hulking goblyn to attack both. Legnar's strike pierces the creature's plate armor in a surprising flash. 5 damage
Rylan manages to evade the titanic struggle just in time as he backs away from the new threat.
Ser Calder then rapidly bounds and assaults the giant's side, but the plate armor absorbs most of the blow. 2 damage
The hulking goblyn advances on Rylan, certain that the unarmored opponent offers little threat.
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) + 5 = 16 for 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8 damage.

ow.
Legnar continues the attack! Slamming his maul and axe in a brutal flurry of blows.

Stunts (7): Lightning attack (3), Pierce armor(2), Mighty blow(2).
I don't know if pierce armor and mighty blow apply to both attacks, a choice of either attack, or only the 1st attack. My preference is to apply armor pierce to both attacks, followed by Mighty blow.
Mighty blow damage if needed:
Melee: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Lightning attack: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |
Congrats with your second job, Stardust
Round 2
Rylan takes 4 damage total due to the protection from his Rock Armor spell
Wincing from the blow that the hulking goblyn gave, Rylan silently thanks the maker once more for having the foresight to use his rock armor spell. Noting that the blow could've been much worse had he not been so protected, Rylan moves back from the hulking goblyn and lets off an arcane lance at it to show that he isn't quite as helpless as he may appear to be.
Uses another move to back away from said goblyn if there is enough space to warrant doing so, then will cast arcane lance at it with 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3, 5) + 4 = 17 to hit and 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 damage on it if it hits. For the stunt points, he will utilize pierce armor for 2, knock prone for 2, and skirmish for 1 against the hulking goblyn, making it prone, at half armor for Rylan's attack, and moved/slid backwards away from the mage

Legnar, I don't have the book with me, but I believe (and I'll confirm this when I can) that attacks generated by stunt points don't generate stunt points themselves. And asides from skirmish, only one stunt of each type is permitted per attack. You also only have 4 stunt points from that attack. (2 (the last number rolled in the 3d6 attack roll) +2 from the axe) Unless I'm missing something. I'll look into this when I can see the rulebook.
Round 2 Results
Legnar's attack will be resolved after I have a chance to see the rules.
If only Lightning Strike is used, he causes 2 damage., if only Pierce Armor is used, he causes 3 damage. And if you all think this is a boss fight, you're right.
The giant goblyn raises its greatsword against Legnar. 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3) + 6 = 16 for 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 5, 4) + 4 = 16 damage. Mighty Blow 1d6 ⇒ 3
Rylan's magical lance knocks the hulking brute on its backside, inflicting 6 damage as the blinding flash burrows through the chain armor.
Ser Calder's attack attempts to pierce through the giant's plate armor, but after slicing through partway, the sword sticks and fails to inflict any wounds. Plate Armor has an AR of 8. Pierce Armor reduces it to 4 Calder quickly pulls the blade out before it is damaged by the creature's movements.
The hulking goblyn manages to stand up, but regards Rylan more carefully, taking the time to size him up.
Begin Round 3
As soon as I look into Legnar's attack.
Legnar, I have you at 27-18-3=6 health. Is that what you have?
Legnar Nevvin |
Sorry about that, forgot about the dragon die. I keep thinking that the pair of doubles rolled is the stunt points (that is where I got the 5+2 points) With for points, I would have forgone the lightning attack and just done piece armor and mightyblow. I am aware the 2nd attack does not create stunt points. For future clarification, can I use the stunt points on the 1st attack roll on a lightning attack, or is is just a non modifiable extra attack?
Also Legnar's Hp is as follows:
round 1 damage: 16-7armor = 9 damage
round 2 damage: 16+3-7armor = 12 damage
36-9= 27-12= 15hp. This is how I have been doing it, Is this correct? Is there ways to heal oneself in combat besides Ryan's magic?
It is becoming very apparent that Legnar is losing a lot of blood quickly, and he is slowing.
"Calder, I'm Withdrawing! Legnar yells as he makes one last swipe at the one eyed freak, and then withdraws behind Calder
Melee: Ancient Dwarven Axe 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4, 3) + 4 = 17 |Damage2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7 { +2 Stunt Points
+1 to defense (13) (Legnar is using his maul to defend this round instead of attack)
Ser Calder |
"Drink this!",Calder says as he tosses the potion from his belt to Legnar.
"Rylan, if you got another of those stunning spells in you- now would be the time!"
Ser Calder makes a swing at the one-eyed beast, mostly to keep his attention.
Longsword: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 2 = 62d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5
Even though it's a crummy roll, still got doubles and two stunt points- Defensive Stance it is. Next round I'll switch out for my spear- little better odds of punching through that armor.
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |
Quickly glancing over at Ser Calder and seeing Legnar, wounded as he is, drawing back from the one-eyed monster, Rylan wastes no time in unleashing a mind blast right between the larger one eyed goblyn and the other large goblyn (and of course, making certain to keep the radius of the attack from reaching either Ser Calder or Legnar).
For 3 mana, Rylan will cast mind blast with 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 5, 4) + 4 = 15 and use his move action to get near Legnar so that a heal spell will work for the next round
Moving in as close as he is able towards Legnar, Rylan calls out, "Take caution everyone- even with my mind blast, these creatures might be hardy enough to shake off the worst of the effects!"
Legnar Nevvin |
sounds good, trying to decide if I should switch to the crossbow and stand behind you. You have much better armor, and I hit just about as well and as hard with a bow. thoughts? If Rylan can heal a substantial amount of hp, then I might just rush back up there.

Round 3 Results
Legnar and the one-eyed goblyn act simultaneously. Legnar retreats from the giant and the giant follows. It raises his greatsword once against the retreating dwarf. 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5) + 6 = 15, but shifts off balance at the wrong time and loses the attack just as Legnar's counterattack swings in, striking the plate armor with force but not impacting beyond it. Legnar then turns again to retreat.
Rylan's spell erupts in a flash of blue light.
giant's save 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5) + 6 = 17
hulking's save 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5, 3) + 3 = 13
Both goblyns are knocked down by the blinding flash, but the larger giant sits up and shakes its head as though clearing it. The hulking goblyn is more severely affected, and does not immediately sit up.
Sir Calder's sword strikes at the downed giant, but the Giant dodges the attack easily.
Begin Round 4
Sorry, everyone. I meant to get this done earlier, but I fell asleep again. More work tomorrow... sigh.
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |
Rylan casts Heal on Legnar for 2 mana points and will heal 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12 hit points to him, then use the aim action to keep his wand aimed at the standing one-eyed monstrosity
After letting the healing energies of his spell shore up Legnar, Rylan keeps his wandpoint aimed squarely over at the standing one-eyed goblyn. Giving a momentary glance over to the doorway and then back towards the large one-eyed goblyn again, Rylan says, "It might not be a bad idea for us to make our way towards the entryway to this room; at the very least, it might not make for an easy access for one such as that..."

Round 4 Results
Legnar drinks the healing potion while the one eyed giant stands up and attacks Ser Calder with his greatsword. 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2) + 6 = 13, for 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 6, 6) + 4 = 20 damage. Mighty Blow 1d6 ⇒ 5 damage.
A burst of white light from Rylan's hand heals Legnar even further. The hulking goblyn shakes itself awake and sits up.
Ser Calder's attack bounces off the giant's armor harmlessly.

Legnar Nevvin |
Legnar steps forward, Putting his boot down on the greatsword.
"Com'n get it, Ugly!" He snarls as his axe and maul fly's again.
Melee: Ancient Dwarven Axe 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1) + 6 = 14 |Damage2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2) + 4 = 12 { +2 Stunt Points +1 dual +1 aim
In hopes that actually hit, Legnar will go with pierce armor and skirmish for the stunts, pushing the creature back.
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |
Apologies about the late posting :(
As soon as Ser Calder is able to turn the momentum towards the party's favor, Rylan (after taking a moment to center his aim directly at the one eyed goblyn) lets loose with another arcane bolt at the one-eyed monstrosity.
Would Rylan be able to "sense" any residual bloodmagic-iyness from Ser Calder during the fight?
Using a move to aim and a standard for the arcane bolt, the result is 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) + 6 = 15 to hit to one-eyed one, with both prior aims, and 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 damage for the result
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |
Would Rylan be able to "sense" any residual bloodmagic-iyness from Ser Calder during the fight?
On further consideration, sensing blood magic seems more like something associated with Templars rather than mages, so it probably would be best to disregard that earlier query of mine.

Round 5 Results
Because I think it makes sense, I am switching Ser Calder's and Legnar's initiative here. So Ser Calder will act on 13, and Legnar will act on 9.
Ser Calder attacks just as the giant goblyn strikes at him with his greatsword. The blade dances off of Ser Calder's spear, flung onto the ground several feet away from the goblyn. It roars in anger, blinking its massive eye at Calder. Calder inflicts 3 damage with the spear attack.
Rylan's arcane bolt splashes into the giant in a cascade of sparks, inflicting 2 damage after armor reduction.
Legnar's flailing weapons again surge into the one-eyed giant, piercing through plate armor and inflicting another 8 damage.
The creature falls to the ground with a groan, blood squishing out of its plate armor in multiple places, its one eye closed permanently.
The remaining goblyn stands and roars at the heroes. It attacks Legnar with desparation. 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 4, 4) + 7 = 21 for 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8 damage, knocking him prone and forcing a mighty blow for 1d6 ⇒ 1 additional damage. It roars in victory at the dwarf.

Pierce armor, mighty blow 1d6 ⇒ 6, and defensive stance.
Rylan of the Circle of Magi |

No worries- I know what you mean
Round 7
Stepping aside to let both Ser Calder and Legnar have a clear hit at the standing goblyn, Rylan fires off another arcane bolt on the embattled creature at an opportune moment.
3d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) + 4 = 15 to hit and 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 to damage

Round 7 Results
Ser Calder's sword catches the hulking goblyn squarely in the chest, puncturing through the armor as though it were butter. inflicting 9 points of damage. The monster staggers from the assault, falling to the ground beneath the assault. Legnar's attack strikes it easily, again cleaving through the chain links, and slicing clear through the goblyn's body as a spout of blood gushes up from the assault.
Sorry. Guess I should cut back on the graphics.
The goblyn yells in pain, then is strangely silent as life leaves his body.
End Combat
Now that the din of chaotic combat has ended, you can hear Ser Nicholas pleading for help from the small room behind the area where the wall slid aside, revealing the small prison.
"Please. Help! Over here! I'm locked in here."
