"Fine establishment indeed!" Torgil laughs aloud. "I don't think I've seen a fancier orphanage, ever. But you are right, let us talk to the mistress and take a look around the house. Targ and Skipper, being men of cloth I presume you could even oversee the application of the medicine for the sick children?"

"Like you?" Skipper echoes the child's question, smiling slightly as he plucks up the die. "I'm your height and I enjoy marbles and dice and honey-bread and catching lizards and I absolutely hate having to take a bath, so I think we have quite a bit in common."

He makes his first cast-- it's a poor one-- and Skipper cheerfully digs out another copper from his pouch to add to the 'stakes' in the center of the ring.

"But I don't have to do what Auntie Baltwin tells me, so there's that. Does she make you take many baths? Or anything else wretched?"

Skipper's tone is light but he studies the children carefully as he jokes with them.

"Aye, I can go look at the sick upstairs if needed," Skipper says to Torgil's question once the Pathfinders are reunited. "If I have a stepstool, anyway."

The kid wipes his nose against his sleeve and shoots another marble into the center of the ring, Baths aren't so bad, mister. Sometimes they feel good after a day's work.

Technically you can only do one diplomacy roll on a target per day unless you have a feat/ability that allows you to reroll. So I am still running off your first one.

"Day's work?" Skipper asks innocently, continuing to pop marbles. "And what sort of work is one so strong," he winks at the kids, "doing to help out?"

Ah, so. That's fine then! And you can feel free to waive the rest of the chat with Skipper and the kids if you want, I don't want to bog down the whole thread with those tag. But yeah, if he finds out that the kids are being forced to work that would be something he would gently question them about and then relate to the others. I'll mark off a total of 5 copper spent in 'gambling' with the kids.

Lantern Lodge

Male

Sounds fine. You find that they are mainly sent to richer estates to clean and what not.

Just realized I don't know if labor is normal for a orphanage in medieval times? or are they supposed to be in school?

Lantern Lodge

Male

They are supposed to be recovering from illnesses and attending school.

Scarab Sages

You act like that is unusual Targ? Did you not work when you were young? How else is one suppose to learn one's way in the world?

"You might not want to see that woman, Targ, but I do" Torgil says and you can hear pure anger in his voice. The big warrior walks up to the front door and hammers on it with his meaty fist.

Skipper follows his taller colleagues with a frown.

"Is there anything gained by confronting her?" he asks, although he doubts he can stay Torgil's anger. "We were told to find out whether she is worth the temple's aid.... I think that what we have learned would be at odds with the front she has presented. Reporting it to Saranrae's servants might be the simplest route... I'm not up enough on Absalom's laws to know if she is actually in any legal violation, I fear."

Still, he doesn't argue beyond that with Torgil's desire to see this woman.

Scarab Sages

Azizi is thinking, we have our package to deliver. Azizi will talk to this Mistress Baltwin. Nothing is lost by fulfilling our errand and speaking to her.

So saying, Azizi walks up to the front door and politely knocks.

Lantern Lodge

Male

Torgil approaches the door and an old hag of a woman missing teeth with blood shot, glassy eyes, shaky hands, covered in a fine sheen of sweat answers the door. Looking up at the man, Eh, what do you want!

Scarab Sages

Azizi pauses for a moment and looks the old woman up and down.

Azizi and his friends, we bring medicine for your fine establishment. May we enter?

Lantern Lodge

Male

What's that, eh, why do you need to come in. Congratulations. Mission complete. Now hand over the medicine.

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Ulfen) Fighter 1

"Not going to happen" Torgil tells the woman in a tone that doesn't leave much room for argument. "We were tasked to evaluate your... worthiness for this aid and what we've seen and heard so far doesn't look promising. Let us in, let us see these sick children and then maybe, just maybe we will give you the package."

Lantern Lodge

Male

Look her message boy, I was told that a dumb brute was going to be delivering me some more medicine for the poor sick children. Now hand it over. She senses your agitation and then speaks up once more Oh, what's the matter are you going to hit a poor old lady? I am sure that would go over well with your Venture Capt.

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Ulfen) Fighter 1

Thorgil sneers at the old hag. "Aren't you a sad old woman, and a bad judge of character on top of it. Step aside now or say goodbye to the medicine", he says, tired of playing games with the mistress.

"There will be no striking," Skipper says soberly. "If you care for these sick children at all, you will let us administer this medicine to them-- and if you show that decency, I will tell as much to the servants of Saranrae.

"But either way they will be told of what else we have seen, madam. I do not think you will have the care of these children-- or line your pockets with their labor-- much longer. You ought to think about what left of the report we carry you can influence, madam."

Lantern Lodge

Because I can do it myself. If you can't trust a hospitaler at her word by all means come in.

Torgil nods and steps in past the old lady, taking a good view of the lobby.

ok, we will say everyone gives their report, moving on to your way back to the Grand Lodge: A throng of people blocks the street ahead. Is there a map? What do these people look like? Races and weapons and armor and so on?

Targ casts shield of faith on himself, raising his AC to 19 for the next ten rounds. Then he moves to engage the most dangerous looking foe.

Lantern Lodge

Male

I am still having trouble with the maps, but I have given description previously but I can post them again...

Deandre Dulay, an ambitious cleric of
Norgorber, has assembled a band of outcasts as her first
fledgling thieving group, hoping to lead a cell of criminals
in the near future. To achieve her aim, her band needs
income, and that’s where robbing Pathfinders comes in.
Young and lithe, with red hair hanging in ringlets that
just brush her shoulders, Deandre doesn’t immediately
appear as dire a threat as she actually is. She wears a long
skirt, embroidered with silver and black thread and a
high-necked woolen blouse, its stout fabric concealing
her chain shirt.
The team’s not-quite-insane arcanist Halli Fosta does
not interpret the world like other people. She approaches
everything with curiosity, passion, and a cruel streak
a fiend would appreciate. Deandre is uncertain how
having a sociopath in her fledgling group will work out,
but isn’t afraid to kill the girl if she gets too crazy. Full
golden blonde hair frames Halli’s healthy, smiling face,
punctuated with steely blue eyes and thick red lips. Halli
wears a well-made, green silk dress in the most current
fashion with a shimmering black scarf draped across her
shoulders, and fidgets as the moves, a nervous habit she
picked up as a child trying to hide the extra digit on each
of her hands from casual acquaintances.
The anarchist comedian Larkin Waever, a Galtan
refugee, has a scathing wit he focuses on authority figures.
He began working with Deandre for extra money and the
chance to sow a bit of chaos when his political humor
failed to support his lifestyle. With a face you could easily
forget or miss in a crowd—short-cropped light brown
hair, light complexion, and forgettable brown eyes—
Larkin wears rumpled worker’s clothing with a
heavy coat over his chain shirt.
Rounding out the team, the halfling
brawler Ledford more than makes up for
his short stature with his uncontrollable
energy and rampaging anger. A former
circus performer and underground fighting
champion, Ledford hopes he can make
enough money through an alliance with
Deandre to retire to his homeland of Cheliax
with a manor and slaves of his own, while
Deandre simply hopes she can redirect his
rage to take out her enemies instead of causing
any collateral damage on the rest of her team.
With his comical handlebar moustache,
Ledford is an easy face to remember, but
when madness fills his eyes, he’s a sight
one soon wants to put as far from memory
as possible.

I'm also a little bit puzzled where Larkin is getting the flanking bonus to his attack... Maybe I'm reading the map wrong?

Lantern Lodge

Male

everyone has been questioning me on this:

from the PRD:

Gang Up (Combat)
You are adept at using greater numbers against foes.
Prerequisites: Int 13, Combat Expertise.
Benefit: You are considered to be flanking an opponent if at least two of your allies are threatening that opponent, regardless of your actual positioning.
Normal: You must be positioned opposite an ally to flank an opponent.

Lantern Lodge

Male Tengu Fighter - Lore Warden 1 [AC 16, Touch 13, Flat 13] [HP12/13] [Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +0] [Init +3] [Perception +3 ]

Seeing no room to maneuver into fighting position with his swords, Kazuo draws his short bow waiting for the opportunity to fire. Seeing Torgil twist out of the way of a savage thrust he looses at the attacker.

1d20 + 4 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 - 4 = 181d6 ⇒ 5

Maybe Sinashakti deserves some study after this is over he muses.
