Albus renews his attack on the Vanth.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Casting Defensively DC 15: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Arcane Mark Spell Spellstrike: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 2 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
His first swing misses the psychopomp, but his arcane strike hits home - only it doesn't do too much, raising a brief sizzle from the mark.
Oooo, that tickled.
Attack (Scythe): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
Damage (Scythe): 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4) + 7 = 14
Attack (Scythe): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Damage (Scythe): 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12
His scythe cuts back into Dwalindor again.
Dwalindor, that makes you disabled, correct?

Rameth the Delver |

this is going...how shall i say, less than remotely well
Rameth swears and helps Lindy's next attack, assuming he is up, if not he uses it for Albus
Mutated Spear/SC: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 - 1 + 1 + 2 = 23 for 1d8 + 7 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 14
Aid: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 1 + 2 = 12 vs AC 10

Rameth the Delver |

You have no idea. Perhaps you should dance with me for a little bit, and leave the children alone.

Rameth the Delver |

oh yea I know I have a halfling bloodrager (undead bloodline) who fights with a scythe

![]() |

Well, since Dwalindor withdrew 30' (as neither Rameth nor Dwalindor got their attacks before it went again), the thing should only get one attack at him, and draws an AOO on the approach. So Dwalindor would take 13 damage from the first hit, and has 3 hp remaining not counting rage temp hp.
AOO MW Lucern, rage, pa/FF, aid : 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 + 2 = 32 for damage: 1d12 + 6 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 3 + 6 = 19
confirm : 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 2 + 2 = 21 for damage: 1d12 + 6 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 3 + 6 = 16
"Bet you did not like that much?"
MW Lucern, rage, pa/FF, aid: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 2 + 2 = 22 for damage: 1d12 + 6 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 3 + 6 = 20
With the CLW from Calin, the dwarf is at 7hp+8temp and does 19hp or 35hp if crit hits (After subtracting DR)

Rameth the Delver |

that means that I would need to have charged it DM so -2 to linda's attack and +2 to mine

DMummy |

If Rameth continues to press the attack, Dwalindor will continue, but will otherwise withdraw 30 back.
You said you did not withdraw based on Rameth pressing his attack - Rameth continued to attack. The Vanth's actions were based on your declaration that you weren't going to withdraw. If you did withdraw the Vanth would attack someone else. You don't get an Attack of Opportunity.

![]() |

I am sorry, I do not see Rameth attacking it between the time I posted the withdraw and it attacking me?
From looking at the posts, it got 2 full attacks in a row without our turn or am I missing something?
However you want to rule it...the attack would be Dwalindor's attack before it takes the 2 swings...or the withdraw and AOO...we should still be allowed our attacks before it goes again.

DMummy |

After looking at the flow it does look like I missed Rameth's attack so here's last 2 round's order so far.
Round 1
Dwalindor -> Withdraw 30 feet.
Rameth -> Spear Attack (Posted Below, Albus/Vanth)
Albus -> Attack
Calin -> CMW Scroll
Vanth -> Full Attack vs. Albus
Round 2
Dwalindor ->Move and first attack set for critical hit
Calin -> CLW
Rameth needs to attack again this round, then Albus, then the Vanth.

Rameth the Delver |

how mad will you be if I crit?
Mutated Spear/SC: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 - 1 + 1 + 2 = 28 for 1d8 + 7 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 15
Aid: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 1 + 2 = 12 vs AC 10 for Dwalindors AC

![]() |

Ok, thanks for checking GM...I was just finishing going back and calculating Dwalindor's HP for either timeline, but if Albus receives that last full attack, then Dwalindor is in much better shape - he would have been either at 6hp or staggered with 0hp.
So Dwalindor is at 16hp+8 rage hp and I suspect Albus is in sad shape.

Rameth the Delver |

Calin can you heal him anymore?

"Angel Eyes" Albus |

Albus renews his attack on the Vanth.
......................
His first swing misses the psychopomp, but his arcane strike hits home - only it doesn't do too much, raising a brief sizzle from the mark.
Oooo, that tickled.
Albus is enlarged so that is not actually his damage. The right one is:
Enlarged Dmg: 2d8 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 14Which brings me to:
Albus attacks again.
Attk: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 2 = 21
Dmg: 2d8 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8, 6) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 21
By reading the thread I am not sure, did Albus took the last full attack of the creature? The answer will change which spell he will cast with spellstrike.

"Angel Eyes" Albus |

Looking back on the thread I just realised Albus have mirror image running. So he should be fine a little longer even if the attack was on him. With that in mind he continues with his regular attack routine.
Casting Def DC15: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Arcane Mark Spell Spellstrike: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 - 2 = 8
Dmg: 2d8 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8, 7) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 22

![]() |

and minor point on the map, but Dwalindor would be 10' away to attack.

DMummy |

Albus's last blow manages to cut deep into the Vanth, which promptly vanishes.
You are out of combat.
You see it reappear over Tobbs and hear a mental chuckle.
Surprising. They may just do after all.
The psychopomp lets its wings droop around Tobbs and black feathers appear, seeming to flow upward from the lion into the wings.
Tobbs shakes his head as he stands unsteadily on his feet.
The psychopomp turns towards Sebti and Nakht and makes a small bow.
While they're hardly the Risen Guard, they're certainly more than capable of handling the average undead. Perhaps Sebti's strategy will work as long as the outbreak doesn't become more severe. But despite my time in the city, I still serve the Lady and if things get too rough here she might lead one of her little expeditions - you know how they get!
With that he wraps his wings around himself and vanishes from sight.
Nakht doesn't look pleased, but he does look thoughtful.
Well, I guess it can't hurt too much, but we need to send someone into the Necropolis to find out what in the Hells caused this.

![]() |

Dwalindor will come out of rage, breathing heavily for several rounds.
"oh...uh...good...job team. Nice...shot...Albus.
I told you...we...could take it.

Rameth the Delver |

What the crap? There is something much bigger than Wati going on here. You guys stay here, follow the clues, figure out what is going on. The Pathfinder Society still owes me some favors. I am going to make my way to Katapesh and connect with the Lodge there. They have their fingers in everything, and someone knows something somewhere. I will investigate that. Dwalindor. Congratulations you are now in charge of this popsicle stand. Just try not to embarrass me too much.
With that Rameth shares some booze, shakes hands, and before he finds his way out of town, using a hide from undead potion, he gives all the info to Ibrahim of who is in charge. And just like that Rameth and Trip are gone.

![]() |

"Rameth, I ain't the type to get mushy and all...but be safe out there. Lots of them undeads runnin around.
I ain't never been a big fan of them Pathfinders, but if they can help, they are better than these zombies and their ilk.
We will see ya when you get back, and I will buy you a drink, Boss!"

Rameth the Delver |

Just before Rameth gets out of the temple he returns and gives Dwalindor a small box
Keep this, don't lose it but you might need it and I am going to want it back. Alright meow. I gotta move. Put that in your pack. Quick do it meow.

![]() |

Dwalindor takes the box and shakes Rameth's hand.
"You got it, bossman...I mean friend Rameth"

![]() |

Yeah, I thought Tobbs was going to end up as a parting shot. Brutal if it did. That was a tough fight.

Calin Tinderfoot |

I was a little worried about that myself. Although I did tell the DM that if I had to get another animal companion I just might go fro a T-Rex, and no one wants that.
"We're pretty beat up and low on resources. I'm thinking we need some down time before we travel deeper down the rabbit hole."
"Rameth, take care of yourself. Stay safe out there."
Calin casts CLW on Dwalindor and Albus.
CLW Dwalindor: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
CLW Albus: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
I take it Tobbs got some healing to bring him back up. How much?

DMummy |

Ptemnib also wishes Rameth well on his journey; as he leaves you see a tall, tanned man with a rapier thrust through his belt and an incongruous tricorn hat talking to the investigator. After a bit they depart into the night.
Sebti, High Priestess of the Grand Mausoleum turns back to all of you.
Thank you for all of your efforts. We will be most pleased to heal all your wounds, please join us in the sanctuary.
She and her acolytes herd you into a more comfortable room - the smoke from the braziers smells of cedar, particularly favored by Pharasmans. When the healing spells touch you, you can actually feel the cold hands of death invading your wounds, replacing the aches and pains with a terrible numbness before fading away.
I am sorry to see your friend go - he has done well by our city in these last, trying days. But we must press forward and I have to ask you all to enter the Necropolis. There is something you should know given the events recently. We in the Pharasman church have long been concerned that something of this nature could happen; when we sealed the Necropolis we placed several magical items that, when attuned properly, could detect and locate necromantic magic or creatures in the Necropolis.
Sebti is obviously uncomfortable talking about this, as you are outsiders to the Church.
Nakht actually picks up the narrative.
We call these items elegaic compasses. They were placed so that the Voices of the Spire and the Grand Mausoleum could put a stop to any undue necromantic influences. The last time they were used was thirty years ago. My father and our family's companion, Ajin Ra Baqa, whom you've met, battled a lich in the Necropolis who was trying to...well do the same thing that happened three days ago. With your help we've been sweeping Wati and there doesn't seem to be anyone we can locate in the Living City who caused this.
He clears his throat as he watches you digest the news.
Given that, and with the reports from the various gates we've sealed off, we believe the source of the necromantic pulse came from within the Necropolis. Unfortunately the compasses need to be activated at their physical location to be used and we don't have the guards or enough of the Voices to spare. Since you were able to defeat Ajin, if you are willing to enter the Necropolis we'll give you a map to activate the compasses to find and stop whatever is raising the undead before it gets any worse.
Nakht pulls two scrolls out from a pouch at this side.
These should help. If you use this scroll, you'll summon the psychopomps that can be spared from the boneyard.
He passes one scroll over.
This scroll should be used more sparingly. It summons a Vanth Psychopomp to your aid. It won't summon Ajin, here he smiles, but one of his many fellow reapers should arrive from the Spire to assist you.
Nakht looks both awkward and slightly put out to be requesting help from out siders but he doesn't have much of a choice at this point and he knows it.
Sebti recovers enough to speak again.
So, on behalf of the Church of Pharasma and Pharaoh Khemet III, I formally request your aid in stopping this crisis in Wati.

Rameth the Delver |

Calin Dwalindor and Albus each would find a letter awaiting them at their room.
This letter is written in a large hand, with short words...even in print Rameth is a bit of a dick
Dwalindor,
You joined us just a few days ago it seems. I was unsure about you then, but you have shown me the error of my ways. Our enemies have surely come to fear Lucy, and I am certain that you will prove an able leader. Just find what needs to be smashed and smash it. If it needs a subtler (that means gentle) hand ask Calin or Albus to do it. Don't try to be clever just find the problem and eliminate it, then get paid! Next time I see you, we drink!
Rameth
There is also a flask of the good dwarves rotgut left behind.
Calin
I don't really know you well, I barely met you two days ago. But I am glad that you signed on with us, you and Tobbs are an incredible addition to our crew. Try to keep an eye on Dwalindor, he can smash things with the best of them, but if subtlety is required, well I am afraid he doesn't know what that means. I will try to send information as I discover it to help you all solve this problem and get the big score. Until then.
[i]Rameth
Included you find a large chunk of jerky, obviously meant for Tobbs
Albus
Well, I guess we part at last. Many an adventure we have had together, and seen many friends lost to us. Now that I am gone you are the brains of this operation. Dwalindor will make good choices, but if we need to be clever, I am afraid Lucy is more clever than he is. I will try to send aid as I can, in the way of information that might help. Once we get this thing solved I will join up with you again and we can get back to doing stupid stuff for too much money. See if you can find someone that can keep patching you guys up, been tough going since we lost...well you know
Rameth
Beneath the letter are the three spell books that were found check the old loot sheet for the spells-I don't know if you ever spotted those were there or not.

![]() |

"Hey, we are all in...well as all in as three of us can be. Right Calin? Albus? Guys? Our group is growing a bit thin. When do you need us to start? I was still wanting to make a purchase or two."

DMummy |

Nakht gives you a map of the necropolis, as well as a scroll that details how to use the elegaic compasses.
If you go into the Necropolis and activate the compasses we can find the source of this magic and stop it.
They listen about your need for supplies.
We understand, but what items were you looking for? Time is critical if we don't want people to flood out of the city.

![]() |

"that sounds good to me as well...that last battle exposed us for needin some upgrades .".

DMummy |

There should be any reasonable standard gear available, and any normal magical weapons and enchantments. If you want to enchant your own weaponry remember it's 1 day per 1,000 gp and you don't have too much time. Every night regardless of your actions the undead crisis gets just a little bit worse.

![]() |

Dwalindor is looking more for an adamantine 2h weapon and upgrade/replacement armor if they can be found for a reasonable price.
"Aye, Albus. Three seems a bit thin for covering a raid into the Necropolis...even with our vast skills."

DMummy |

Those should be available just fine, Calin roll a d100 for me as lion-fitting armor is definitely "rare".
Albus, as you're approaching the Voices of the Spire you see the woman you helped rescue from the mob approaches carrying a long bundle.
She draws you aside respectfully and smiles.
Good sir, I'm sorry to bother you but you've...helped me in a very difficult time. I wanted to give you this - it belonged to my husband.
She hands you the bundle and it's clearly a sword.
He called it Naasir, Defender. He would have been out in the city trying to help, so I thought you could use it to help the city as well, as you helped me.
She smiles at you, still sad over the death of her husband.
Be well.
She leaves you with the sword and walks off.
Naasir is a defending bastard sword +1.

"Angel Eyes" Albus |

Unaccustomed to such kindness Albus does not know how to react to the women. Embarrassed he accepts the sword while babling a thanks.
Errr...hmmm...thank you...miss...very...kind...yes very kind of you...eerr...be well.
I have a metagame question. Normally Albus would not go to the Necropolis without trying to recruit some people first. You know... out of fear of a horrible death... But should we just move there to reconnect to the rest of the group? Albus is not above throwing good sense out of the window in favor of some good story telling ;P
