Albus's sword bites into the head as it wobbles while attached to Azubah.
It grimaces and releases Azubah to attack Albus.
Attack (bite): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Please roll a Fort Save Albus.
The head manages to get a decent bite into Albus, then it vanishes from sight again.

yes, scent is up while raging...which is not doing much good. .

DMummy |

DMPC Time!
Dwalindor, the stench of darkness and evil suddenly begins to come behind you and you whirl to find the head has appeared behind you.
The head bars its terrible teeth and prepare to attack you.
Azubah, determined that their standard attacks have done little against the monster, yells out to Dwalindor that the head has moved next to you. The monster has moved to I10
Azubah moves to H10.
Attack (Morning Star): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Miss.
The head tries to attack Azubah as he moves into range.
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 I believe that's a miss because Shield is still up?
Rameth attacks the monster, his club impacts soundly but the damage seems to vanish against an invisible force.
Albus, frustrated by the startlingly resilient head, moves hard to H9 and the head attacks in response.
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage (Bite): 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 Don't see that everyday.
Though the teeth close on Albus, they are unable to penetrate
Albus slams his sword down on the monster in response with both hands.
Attack (Sword): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Handwave as automatic critical, hope you guys don't mind.
Damage (Sword, Critical): 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 131d10 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Albus's sword shatters whatever terrible magics protect the tiny skull and bite terribly deep into the monster.
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
The monster's head has a terrible bellow, and it begins to fade from existence as its grip on the Material Plane starts to fail.
Damn you! You think you've won but none of you can understand the plots of Ahriman, nor set back my plan. You may have spoiled my fun for now but I'll return!
In a burst of dark miasma it seems to be pulled from your view into nowhere, and Dwalindor can no longer smell the head's attacks.

Rameth the Delver |

well that was fun. Let's search and try to find the rest if the bodies so we can release that haunt.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 perception to search the rooms

Azubah |

Azubah checks his arm for injury. Finding none, he turns to the others and asks "Who is injured?"

DMummy |

You fail to find anything in the SE room worth noting.
In the room to the NE you find a darkwood box with a frail Osirian wedding room that you realize would be ruined if you moved it. A magical spell such as make whole or mending could restore the robe however.
You also see several pieces of inexpensive jewelry and one strand of freshwater pearls, as well a small tube with a dark substance in it you can't identify immediate.
You also find a large scroll tube that contains a portrait of a beautiful young woman, along with a signature in Ancient Osiriani running down one side that has been preserved from the the desert and time and may be worth money to a collector.
The middle room on the east side of the house has only a rusted dagger, a small handful or marbles and a small lacquered wooden box with small colored stones in it.
The final room has a locked bronze chest in it that's been hidden by a false dresser.
The chest appears to be locked.

"well that stupid head better have something good for all the hassle. . "

Rameth the Delver |

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 Rameth tries again
while I do this can someone go cast mending on that dress?

Rameth the Delver |

I know you don't like it, but for now
Rameth takes 20 on the lock for a 29

Rameth the Delver |

stupid ghost that i can't hear with good advice!

DMummy |

Jeez, that was fast. And fair enough.
The lock clocks open and you're able to open the chest.
If you open the chest:
A bolt springs out of a trap and flies towards Rameth.
Attack (Trap): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Damage (Trap): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 Roll a Fort save, DC 11.
It sticks deep into Rameth, and he can feel the burn of slow poison that was coated on the bolt's head.
Inside the chest are 20 small gold ingots impressed with a seal that seems foreign to Osirian (roll Knowledge: History or Knowledge: Nobility to identify the seal).
Total worth:
After Appraisal, you determine the ingots are worth 25 gp a piece, the pearls are worth 200 gp and the jewelry 35 gp. The chest from the other room is worth 100 gp and if the dress could be restored it would be worth an additional 150 gp. The self-portrait could be worth as much as 80 gp to a collector, and the small wooden box with colored stones you found is a game board that couild be worth an additional 50 gp.
The bronze chest itself is worthless. The substance in the tube is magical but will require further study Identify or Knowledge (Arcana) to identify.

Rameth the Delver |

lol that couldn't have gone worse

![]() |

"you doing ok there, Rameth? You look pale my friend. Azubah, you got anything to help him?. "

Rameth the Delver |

Rameth grits his teeth for a moment. I am fine now. Let's see this treasure!
Rameth moves it into the loot bag. [b] did anyone magic up that dress so we can take the rest of it?

Azubah |

Azubah decides not to press the issue with Rameth and, instead takes him at his word. To Dwalindor he gestures to convey "what can I do" to the dwarf.
"Sir Howard reasons that if the chest and the bodies are still here then it is likely that the key is still at hand somewhere."
"I have no magic to repair clothing."

Rameth the Delver |

Anyone recognize these symbols on the ingots? history or nobility

Rameth the Delver |

Well, if no one can cast a mending spell, lets try to move it as carefully as possible and get someone to cast it outside.

Rameth the Delver |

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 Dex check to handle the dress carefully.
Lets go check the courtyard shall we?

Rameth the Delver |

Rameth leads the way, though he will let his size reduce, by dismissing it.

Rameth the Delver |

I could use some healing azubah, if you can spare it.

"Angel Eyes" Albus |

Sorry mate, mending stuff is not really my thing. Dont have that spell. If you could spare one I need a heal too Azubah.
At least we got some good coin out of this thing already. Do you guys think we should report that flying head to the priests? I dont want to risk losing our license but maybe it will be back.

Rameth the Delver |

I guess I leave it and we leave the loot...grrr.
ok let's finish this place up get rid of that haunt then go buy a scroll of mending and fix this thing!

Rameth the Delver |

I know but he is a dickweed. And a scroll of mending is 12 gold

Rameth the Delver |

the character is a great character but Rameth thinks he is a dickweed. If we run out of time we will use him for that service as well

"Angel Eyes" Albus |

I will roll Azubah's uses on the CLW wand to advance things.
CLW Rameth: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW Rameth: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW Albus: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Anyone else?
Onward to the eastern courtyard then.

Azubah |

Thanks for the 'bot, Albus. I have to amuse my 2-year-old for at least another hour.

A spacious yard fills the compound east of the house. To the east, several small stone outbuildings have been built right into the compound’s outer wall. A well stands between two
of these outbuildings, opposite a stone table and benches that sit in the shadow of the house. To the west, two sets of steps, both flanked by columns, lead up to doors into the main house. To the northwest, an open doorway leads into an extension of the house, next to a small structure with a domed roof.

Rameth makes his way to P 28 and checks the building there.

This small, one-room structure is devoid of features, save the ruined remains of furniture that have all but disintegrated with the passage of time.
However in one corner you see a black-furred, two-headed dog that is as large as a horse and has midnight-black eyes. Tiny worms crawl on its mangy hide. As soon as you peek inside its eyes fixate on you with a hungry malevolence. Knowledge: Arcana to identify.
