Minor Crab-beast

Gathroc:
No secret door or any other opening apart from the well is evident.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"This does not appear to lead anywhere, that is rather unfortunate. Let us move into the keep proper and find this book that we are looking for. Anything that stands in our way dies."

"Agreed" You hear vesta says as she becomes visible for a moment.

Murmur follows the others to the fizzing room, humming to himself and playing with the wooden doll he took from the farmhouse. Outside the room, he thrusts the doll forward to give it a clear view of the room.

"What do you think, Woody? Anything of interest in there?" Yet another child's voice.

Murmur will use Detect Magic to look for magical auras in the room, as well as see if he knows anything about the place with his Knowledge: Arcana.

Knowledge: Arcana check - 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

Meanwhile, Euridicea was busy running her hands along the wall in the tunnel, back and forth as she gets a feel for the essence of the place. The nymph's outfit seemed to have changed in the few minutes it took the others to check the door down the hallway, going from ruffles and lace to a more combat friendly dress of leather and straps. Her fingernails drum along the stone of the tunnel while her sharply pointed ears listen for minute vibrations, "Wiggling little worms burrowing so deep, looking for your father in his restless sleep, tell your hidden secrets for all to hear, show the ones above what to truely fear."

Perception Check: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (6) + 28 = 34
She is listening and looking for hidden doors along the hallway toward the tower.

Minor Crab-beast

Murmur:
You can sense the lingering aftertaste of magic upon the air. By the looks of the room this may have been a place where the master of the house came to experiment with destructive evocations.
The arcane sight gifted by detect magic shows that the whole room glows with the aftereffects of spent incantations.

Euridicea:
You sense that the stone is thick along the corridor and find no signs of secret passageways.

So heading to the door to the tower?

So heading to the door to the tower?

Yes.

"This way should lead into the main keep"

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Well then, let us proceed...

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Gathroc will lead the way forward, confident in his prowess and abilities.

Are you gonna just have the Armiger whose on a cruise just tag along, or npc him at all??

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"Yes, yes, let us proceed. I really was hoping to find a back way into his tower." I grumble.

Minor Crab-beast

I was just assuming that he will follow as a silent shadow until you guys get into a combat scenario.

Assuming Vesta does her door trick:
Peering through the door into the interior of the adjacent room, you find it pitch black. Your darkvision makes out a staircase at the side of the room, and the rest of the space is sparsley covered with crates and boxes.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10
DM - Voice of the Voiceless wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Feel free to make that assumption from here on out

"It's an empty room full of crates and a staircase."

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Well then, shall we proceed? Darkness is certainly no foe of ours...

Gabriel then takes his time to check the door for traps...

'take 20' Perception (traps) = 44.
'take 20' Disable Device (Open Locks) = 44.
Disable Device (Traps), if necessary: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36.

Assuming that works, he will eagerly scuttle into the room, to investigate the crates...

'take 10' Perception = 30.

Minor Crab-beast

Again the door does not appear to have any traps upon it, nor is it locked. Gabriel is able to open it without issue.

Gabriel Room Perception:
The crates are a mixture of open topped and sealed. Those that are uncovered seem to be full of alchemical supplies and raw materials (such as clay, metal, etc).

Murmur slips into the shadows and proceeds into the room with the crates, quietly watching while the others do what they wish.

Aura of Sobs will be turned off. In fact, it's safe to say that I'll always turn it off when I do a stealth check unless otherwise noted.
Stealth check: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43
Perception check: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28 (not searching room, just being alert)

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

The crates appear to be full of raw materials and alchemical supplies. Let's keep moving...

Gabriel then scuttles purposefully for the exit...

Perception (Traps) = 44
Disable Device (Open Locks) = 44

Minor Crab-beast

The stairs are not trapped, and lead open aired into the next level - though you would need to ascend in order to discern what lay upon it.

At just that moment, light suddenly floods into the building. Despite your brief shock, you discern that it is magical in origin so has no special power over you - but it does indicate that the tower itself is waking up....

Vesta will attempt to go through the interior floor of the towerr next to where the staircase is. And just barely stick her face through the floor to scout the next room.

Invisible Stealth 1d20 + 43 ⇒ (8) + 43 = 51
Perrception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Minor Crab-beast

Vesta:
As your head emerges from the floor you sense your invisibility being stripped away from you. Your gaze notes a simple room where the stairs ascend on one side, while the door to the outside world lies upon the other. The roof is quite high however, which makes sense when your eyes turn to the sole figure within the room.

Standing in the center of the room, facing the door and with it's back to the stairs is a twelve foot tall humanoid structure of solid iron. Although it does not seem to have noticed you yet, you observe some movement to its body that suggests it is animate. It's head slowly starts to turn around to where your eyes have emerged....

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

DM:
QUickly sink back into the floor and back to the room with the crates

"Wait!" Vesta says in a hushed voice.
"The room is massive and has a 12 foot tall iron statue in the center that moved towards me. The room also stripped me of my invisibility "

Knowledge arcana about the "statue" 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Minor Crab-beast

Vesta can identify the creature as an iron golem

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10
DM - Voice of the Voiceless wrote:

"It's an iron golem. I don't know the specifics, but magic affects Golems differently."

Knowledge: Arcana check about iron golems: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Murmur will explain what he knows about the "metal dolls" (his words).

Minor Crab-beast

Murmur is able to describe all the features of an iron golem as per bestiary

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Gathroc laughs a bit, a sort of fiery sound mixed in with his normal voice "It may resist your magicks but it will fall before my blade as countless other beings have before" With that he begins to climb the stairs unless he's stopped.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

"lightning slows and fire heals. Got it. I can work with that." Vesta says with a devious grin.

With that she readies herself to push through the floor once the fighting starts.

Minor Crab-beast

Allowing anyone to post preparatory actions, or intent for the start of what appears to be impending combat

Murmur pulls out his drums and begins playing. "The metal doll needs a friend. I'll make one for him when you open the door."

Murmur starts Bardic Performance: Inspire Courage (+2) as a move action, and readies an action to cast Silent Image (DC 21) when the door opens. He wants to create an illusion of a minotaur next to the golem.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

A moment, if you will.

Gabriel restores his Bag of Holding to normal size, and leaps into it, rummaging around for a few seconds, before popping back out again, his fingers looped through a set of adamantine brass knuckles.

Right then. I am ready.

He also returns the bag to its 'shrunken' form.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"I am ready when everyone else is. Let us end this creation."

Minor Crab-beast

Will have an initiative roll up in the morning to start things off.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless wrote:

Did you want us to roll initiative?

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

If I end up going before the fighter types I'm going to hold my actioon until after they engage the golem.

Minor Crab-beast

Sorry - meant to imply that I will roll initiative for all and post up a action tracker to follow in the morning.

Euridicea drew her serpent-shaped dagger of star metal from a concealed sheath in her bodice, nicking her finger on its tip to check its sharpness. Her tongue darted over the drop of blood and lapped it up as a quizzical expression played across her face, "Metal men and men of metal, each shall fall as the flower petal, iron screech and soulless wails, the bell tolls for all when time tells."

Minor Crab-beast

The group of intrepid undead proceed up the stairs towards their foe...

Initiative:
Vesta: 14
Daemon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Ignac: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Gabriel: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Euridicea: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
Gathroc: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Murmur: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Iron Doll: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Action Tracker (Round 1): Euridicea, Daemon, Murmur, Gabriel, Vesta / Ignac / Gathroc, Iron Doll Bold means you have an action remaining this turn, feel free to post out of order and I'll collate actions when it comes to the Iron Doll's turn

The Iron Golem is in the center of a room which is roughly a 60ft circle. The stairs are on one side of this, while the door is on the other.
I can't do maps, so I use an 'abstract' positioning system. Which means if you think you can get to a flank, you probably can.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Holding action until the fighter types head in. Then will ascend through the floor and fire a lightning bolt in such a way as to hit the golem, but not the party. I know the lightning won't hurt the golem, but it will slow it for 3 rounds.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Gabriel races into the room, springing up onto the iron doll and punching it in the shoulder, before moving around to the other side of it (and hopefully setting himself up for a flank next round).

+1 Adamantine Brass Knuckles: 1d20 + 24 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 24 + 2 = 38, for 1d1 + 10 + 5d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + (1, 1, 5, 5, 3) + 2 = 28 Magical Adamantine Bludgeoning damage.

Minor Crab-beast

For clarity - the Golem has 10' reach, so if you want to attack with a weapon from 5' in the first round I'll need an acrobatics to avoid AoO

Isn't the golem flat-footed right now, and hence unable to take AoO?

Everybody - don't forget that Inspire Courage (+2) is up, and that everybody has an extra 10' base movement (if it matters with abstract positioning).

Murmur plucks a bit of fleece from his spell component pouch and throws it at the metal doll. A few chanted words, and the image of a ferocious minotaur appears next to the golem, greataxe raised high, nostrils flaring with barely contained fury.

Silent Image (DC 21) cast to create illusion of a Minotaur next to the iron golem. Harmonic Spell extends Inspire Courage for one round. Murmur will also move into the room and stay as far away from the golem as possible.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39.

_Murmur wrote:

I'm going with a combination of eternally vigilant construct, and Gathroc made no attempt to hide the noise of his ascent of the stairs

DM - Voice of the Voiceless wrote:

Gotcha.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

I am going to hold my action, hide in the stairway up and see what the metal man does his first.

Stealth 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (18) + 23 = 41

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

HEY!! I coulda been quiet, I wasn't really given a chance to say I was being stealthy. I even have a decent bonus to Stealth.

The undead knight strides forward with deadly purpose, setting up a flank with the spooky, sneaky, hand and gripes his elven curveblade in both hands to swing mightily at the golem.

1d20 + 28 ⇒ (7) + 28 = 35 Curveblade attack 1d10 + 16 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 16 + (2) + (5, 4) = 33 Curveblade damage

1d6 ⇒ 5 Viciousness dmg to Gathroc

Think I'm doing 4 more points of damage for wielding a two-handed weapon, right? which would be 37 total damage

Round 1: Init: 23, AC: 39 (43 vs AoO), HP: 148/148

Euridicea skipped into the room with its towering guardian, her dagger flicked back and forth as her arms swayed as she darted in and out of the golem's range before finally ending up across from Gathroc. She patted her dagger's blade in the palm of her free hand as she sized up the construct, "Sad little metal man so fearsome and so large, all alone by yourself with your unthankful charge, come play with us to leave your many burdens behind, we'll make you into little Alkenstar toys that you wind."

Acrobatics Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Moving around the golem to help Gathroc flank.

Minor Crab-beast

Euridicea is unsuccessful in dancing through the golem's threatened area and is attacked 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (10) + 28 = 38 for 2d10 + 16 ⇒ (3, 10) + 16 = 29

Both Gathroc and Gabriel strike blows against the metal creation, while Murmur's illusion pops into being only to melt and disappear moments after it's arrival.

Ignac moves cautiously up to the golem, careful not to provoke an attack, ready to step in and unload when an opening appears.

The golem lashes out at those that have harmed it.
Gabriel Attack: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (19) + 28 = 47 for 2d10 + 16 ⇒ (5, 4) + 16 = 25
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (2) + 28 = 30 for 2d10 + 16 ⇒ (5, 3) + 16 = 24
Gathroc Attack: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (9) + 28 = 37 for 2d10 + 16 ⇒ (1, 4) + 16 = 21

Action Tracker (Round 2): Euridicea, Daemon, Murmur, Gabriel, Vesta / Ignac / Gathroc, Iron Doll

Damage Tracker: 50 DR affected Gathroc's strike

Can Murmur do a Knowledge: Arcana check to see why his illusion melted away? If so:

Knowledge: Arcana check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Round 2:

155/180 hp

Not appreciating the iron doll's attempt to stomp him flat, Gabriel once again lunges at the construct, pummeling it with a rain of blows!

+1 Adamantine Brass Knuckles: 1d20 + 24 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 24 + 2 + 2 = 30, for 1d1 + 10 + 2 + 5d6 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 + (4, 1, 4, 4, 5) = 31 Magical Adamantine Bludgeoning damage.

+1 Adamantine Brass Knuckles, Iterative: 1d20 + 19 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 19 + 2 + 2 = 39, for 1d1 + 10 + 2 + 5d6 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 + (4, 1, 6, 4, 1) = 29 Magical Adamantine Bludgeoning damage.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

round 2

Vesta merges through the floor and fires a lightning bolt at the golem in such a way as to avoid hitting party members. Damage is irrelevant, but it should serve to slow the thing for three rounds.

Minor Crab-beast

After studying the way the illusion melted away, Murmur believes that there are powerful wards against subterfuge that protect this room. Likely this is the same reason that Vesta's invisibility was stripped away also.
