Minor Crab-beast

Euridicea:
Yep - Vesta can give you a depth and direction indication and you can pop through yourself if you like. No risk of any nasties.

A red rim starts to form on the horizon, the sun in about to start it's angry ascent into the sky.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

"Well, we'd best get going, the sun is starting to rise.I'll get into a bag." Ignác will get into the first bag offered.

Murmur ponders the thought of traveling inside the bag of holding, none-too-pleased with the idea of leaving behind most of his toys.

"Don't make me go into the dark place, please! I'll be good, I promise!" A child's voice, no more than four or five, sobs.

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

"I will not be getting in any bag" The headless warrior says ominously.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Vesta pulls out a piece of cloth that is black as night. She flips onto the ground and it opens into a decent sized pit.

"DO Not get into this pit if you carry an extradimensional space, like a bag of holding. Give the bag to Gathroc, Euridice, or Damon to hold." Vesta says this very sternly and raises her voice somewhat. As she does so the "skin" on her face briefly melts away showing an empty skull with glowing red eyes for a moment and her hair moves in a much angrier manner. Her face shifts back to it's normal appearance as quickly as it changed.

The then continues is a much sweeter voice,
"Sorry Murmur, You'll have to ride in the hole just for a moment. There should be lots of friends where we're going, but we can't leave until we can all get there. Please get in the pit. We'll let you out in a few seconds. Also, Gabriel, if you would please." (I assume Gabriel counts as a person even though he is Tiny)"Gathroc, Euridice, and Daemon will take the trip. Please join hands once the extras are in the pit and we'll be on our way. We'll let everyone out moments after we arrive. Our time is short. We need to get out of here before the sun rises." Vesta then points at the sunrise coming.

I don't thinnk I forgot anyone, but if I did I'll ask them to get in the pit also.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"Hum, I wish I had prepared Augury this morning, now would be a very good time to use it. Ah, well, at least we are getting somewhere. I am ready whenever everyone else is."

Murmur's eye sockets stop glowing, leaving nothing but darkness. "Do not condescend to me, ghost. All you have said is to get in your extra-dimensional hole, without bothering to explain this spell you will be casting. I am no servant waiting to take orders." The voice is cold and hard.

Murmur just wants an explanation here. All he's been told is that there's an underground chamber, that Vesta has "a way" to get us there, and that he'll have to surrender his gear when he gets into the bag.

"Oh"Vesta says sounding legitimately surprised "I thought I had explained. We'll be teleporting through the ether. It's a short distance translocation spell."

After the explanation vesta looks at the little undead (Murmur) cocking her head slightly,
"You're an odd little creature, you know that?. You're behavior confuses me. I meant no offense."

"Well why didn't you say so in the first place?" The voice is bright and cheerful. Murmur hands his Efficient Quiver and Handy Haversack to Gathroc and steps into the hole.

Yes, Murmur is a very odd creature, but a fun one to roleplay.

Player is not confused. Character is. ;-)

Minor Crab-beast

Assuming full assent on the bag and dimension door plan

The party teleports the short distance underground into the laboratory mentioned by Vesta. Those stored in the extradimensional spaces are quickly returned to the same plane as the others.

The laboratory is a large room rendered in worked stone. The design is neat, tidy and functional - though lacks any aesthetics that would allow once to describe it in florid tones. The workspace is dominated by a large central table upon which currently rests a large block of unworked clay.

The walls are limned with all manner of crafting tools - from the blades used to score leather through to chisels for stonework as well as some items that would commonly be found in a smithy. You cannot discern any other entities in the room, nor any containers or the like.

The only exit from the room is a iron barred door that lacks any internal workings.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Well Gentlemen, Lady, and Other, How would you like to proceed?

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"I do believe we should proceed through that Iron barred door since most of us are not incorporal." I state matter of factly. Not realizing I am not answering her question at all.

Knowledge(arcana) 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23 to try and tell what the room is for
Perception 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (4) + 25 = 29 to see anything that may be of use in the room

what pathetic rolls

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Gathroc unsheathes his sword which dances with frost along the blade and strides confidently to the door. He pauses a moment about ten feet from it, trying to sense if there's anything on the other side before continuing on.

Does Blindsight penetrate stuff like walls?? neither it's description nor Blindsense's says one way or another.

I think it's blocked by any solid object including something as flimsy as paper. I imagine it as being able to "feel" everything in range.

Murmur scrambles out of the dimensional hole and looks around the room.

Knowledge Arcana on the room: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18.

He casts Detect Magic and scans the room.

Minor Crab-beast

Murmur:
You gauge that the instruments on the wall must be used in golem-craft, though they hold no intrinsic magic. Similarly the lump of clay has not been infused with any arcane purpose yet.

Daemon:
You gauge that the instruments on the wall must be used in golem-craft, though you doubt any could be re-purposed to assist your mission. Nothing else in the room catches your eye.

Aye - blindsight is limited to line of sight. I've assumed that is the case for the group's myriad of harmful auras as well.

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

"Prepare yourselves." Gathroc says as he goes to open the door.

Minor Crab-beast

Gathroc strides to the door and extends his hand, but finds no handle to grasp. The inside of the door is smooth and bereft of any means to open it.

"He uses this room to make his life-size dolls." Murmur giggles, but the laugh is hollow. Seeing Gathroc attempting to open a door without a handle, Murmur searches the room, seeking a hidden switch or other means of opening the door.

Perception check: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

"Vesta, your talents are required. Check to see if there's a way to open the door from the other side" He will then scan the room for a way to open the door. 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33 Perception check

Minor Crab-beast

You can't determine any way to open the door from the inside, and some of the brickwork around the portal shows signs of being beaten upon. The hinges are not visible, but you're fairly sure the door opens inward. Maybe this was a safety measure to ensure his newly created golems could not escape before he had a chance to ensure their loyalty.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Vesta turns invisible puts her face through the door Stealthily to see what awaits them on the other side as well as seeing where handle is.

Assuming it's safe Vesta will reaches her gloved (ghost touch) hand through the door and pulls the handle open on the other side.

If there are creatures on the other side vesta will report what they are and wait for the others to prepare before she opens the door.

Stealth 1d20 + 43 ⇒ (10) + 43 = 53

Minor Crab-beast

Vesta - no issues and no sight of creatures

The door is drawn open by Vesta reaching through it to turn the handle. Despite the size and weight of the door it opens silently and smoothly on oiled hinges.

The door opens into the side of a straight corridor, with a similar door directly across from it. To the left the corridor leads away from the tower on a downward slope, while to the right it is flat. At each end of the corridor lies a iron-shod door.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"Let us see what is away from the tower, to the left, prior to going into the tower. Perhaps there is a secret way out that way that we can use on our escape after getting the book?"

daemon I presume

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

"Vesta, see what is beyond this door in front of us. We can make our decision once we know what's on the other side."

Yea, I meant the door that is directly across from us. Not the one you just opened

Gathroc The Betrayer wrote:

Oh. lol

Vesta does as instructed and invisibly puts her head through the door stealthfully.

Stealth1d20 + 43 ⇒ (7) + 43 = 50

Vesta spends most of her time invisible. She'll still talk to her companions, because she's not trying to hide from them.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Gabriel continues to 'watch' his companions carefully, perfectly happy to let them take the lead...

I agree, it makes sense to study the area downstairs before we move up into the tower itself...

Perception (Workshop): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (15) + 20 = 35.

Minor Crab-beast

Vesta:
The room opposite looks much like the room you just left, but there is nothing atop the worktable in the room's centre.

Gabriel:
You don't notice anything interesting in the workshop. It is fairly clear that it's only occupied while the tower's master is working.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Not discovering anything of interest in the 'arrival' chamber, Gabriel waits for Vesta to report back, before scouting down the long corridor...

Stealth: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (12) + 34 = 46.
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36.

Minor Crab-beast

Gabriel:
The corridor seems mundane enough, though the door that leads away from the tower is especially well reinforced. Both have opening mechanisms that you can see on your side.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Pulling her face out of the door,

"It appears to be another goelm creation room."

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"Well I hope that we don't run into too many of them, as I said earlier they are not easy opponents to beat. Magic affects them differently then it should."

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

"We check the corridor to the left next." Gathroc moves down the hallway, heading further down.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

vesta continues her door checking pattern as often as needed.

Minor Crab-beast

Vesta attempts to push her head through the door that leads away from the tower, but finds it feels solid to her. She is unable to force passage incorporeally.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

When Vesta is unable to move through the door, Gabriel is immediately intrigued.

Interesting...

Let me see if I can do something about that...

Take 20 Perception (Traps) = 44.

Take 20 Disable Device (Open Locks) = 44

Minor Crab-beast

The door is not trapped, nor is it locked.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

This door is neither trapped nor locked. I am curious as to why it barred Vesta's passage, though...

Gabriel then waits patiently for the others to decide whether they wish to open the door, or not...

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

I will listen for any sounds on the other side that would indicate something there.

Perception (Hearing) 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45

I can just imagine a ghost that is used to passing through things at will "bumping" her nose into a "solid" wall XD thanks for that mental image

Minor Crab-beast

Daemon:
Listening closely you hear mostly silence, though you can make out an occasional liquid fizzle or pop.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

"I can hear no sound of anything alive on the other side of the door, though there does seem to be some sort of reactive liquid, something is fizzling."

With that I open the door a crack and look into the room. If it does not appear to be dangerous I will open it fully.

Minor Crab-beast

Cautiously opening the door, Daemon opens up a chaotic vista. The room is roughly circular, with a slight dipping towards the center where a 5ft wide pit lies. Both the walls and floor show deep scarring, with both gouges and impact craters evident.

The floor is covered with remnants of glass and a variety of alchemical liquids. A cloying sweet smell fills the air and the fizzing seems to be coming from the well in the center of the room. Apart from the damage, the walls are relatively clean.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Vesta figures that a necromancer is going to have incorporeal protections. She's more cautious here than elsewhere and always 'tests" by trying to put a finger through a solid object before putting her head through. Though it's possible she forgets to test and bumps her head more than once. ;-)

Once Vesta discoveres the door's solidity she listens at the door a moment then sidesteps, pressing herself against the corridor wall and turing invisible, to allow others to pass.

Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Stealth1d20 + 63 ⇒ (11) + 63 = 74

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Knowledge(arcana) 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
Craft(alchemy)untrained 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

trying to find the purpose of the room. No other doors?

Minor Crab-beast

Daemon:
You can sense the lingering aftertaste of magic upon the air. By the looks of the room this may have been a place where the master of the house came to experiment with destructive evocations.
You cannot identify any of the chemical residues, but you believe they may have been destructive potions.

No other doors

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Gathroc scans the room, trying to determine if there might be a secret door leading out. 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29 Perception check

If there is he will attempt to open it, if there is not he will move back up the corridor to the passageway going right.
