One of the kobolds hisses and steps backward, taking a defensive pose. The other one looks a bit cowed. You suspect the intimidation would have been more effective if you weren't going through a translator.
"It's a tripwire. You step over it." The kobold pantomimes this with a hand gesture.
"And what were to happen if the chieftain were to suddenly be dead?" Arden asks inquisitively in draconic.
The kobolds exchange surprised looks. After a moment of silence, the one who had taken a defensive stance speaks up, shrugging slightly. "Our duty is to protect the future of our species." She gestures at the eggs. "As long as our hatchlings are safe, we don't care what happens to the rest of the tribe."
In response, Nighttail mutters darkly under her breath. "You can say that again; left me to die in a pile of trash!" Her voice trails off in to more grumbling.
