Fíriel Goldworthy |

So OP.
The godlike Fíriel waves her arms and causes slivers of stone to split from the walls and fly directly toward the southern demon! Casting stone discus for three discuses which count as magic/silver/cold iron.
Ranged Attack (good hope, inspire courage): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 35
Damage: 4d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 3) + 2 + 2 = 15
Ranged Attack (good hope, inspire courage): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 36
Damage: 4d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 6) + 2 + 2 = 18
Ranged Attack (good hope, inspire courage): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 22
Damage: 4d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 4) + 2 + 2 = 16
Prickles, meanwhile, grabs a wand between his teeth and scurries over to sit upon Randall's shoulder, then squeaks a loud command and begins to lick all of the halfling's ammunition! Using his wand of splinter spell resistance.

Njord Bjornson |

Njord retrieves one of his rarely used explosive gourds and hurls it at the trapped gug.
Toss (haste, good hope, inspire): 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 38
Fire Damage: 6d6 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 2, 4, 5) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 25
Confirming: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 30
Extra Fire Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 10

DM Feral |

@Randall: Bless weapon working on a bundle of ammo seems fine to me.
Fort: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
The rune's guardians suffer the missile attacks from Njord, Xiddik, and Firiel without reply. The babau cursed by Asht becomes sluggish as its limbs suddenly turn leaden.
CMBs: 3d20 ⇒ (8, 14, 4) = 26
The field of rubbery tentacles continues to hold the demons fast.
The party is up.

Randall Quickstep |

Randall draws a wand and attempts to use it on the ammunition in his quiver.
Use Magical Device DC 20: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25
Casting bless weapon on the bundle of quarrels.
He hands the wand to the powerful hedgehog. "Here, Prickles. Someone may need this on their weapon, too."

Asht'el |

Tentacular grapple: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37
Grapple damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Dex damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2 Total of 3 Dex damage so far.
Asht'el raises his hands before him, holding them a foot or so apart. Sparks of electricity begin to crackle between them but, as he flings them forward at the entangled foes, they become fat sparks of flame that coalesce into a writhing bolt of fire that strikes the gug, then leaps to each of the demons in turn!
Cast chain lightning using elemental bloodline to change it to fire damage.
SR: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Fire Damage: 14d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 2, 5, 4, 6, 2, 4, 6, 6, 5, 1, 5) = 58 (DC 24 Reflex for half, DC 22 for babaus as secondary targets - don't forget the Dex penalty for being grappled! And the Dex damage!)
Spells left: 7/8/5/6/5/1/4

Xiddik |

Xiddik keeps filling her target with arrows.
Holy Composite Shortbow (GH/Inspire): 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 16 + 2 + 2 = 391d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 31
Damage (cold iron and good): 1d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + (1, 2) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 111d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + (6, 1) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 16
And she continues to sing. Don't forget Inspire Courage and Good Hope!

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Prickles preens proudly for a moment before accepting the wand and scurrying toward Xiddik, grinning through his skull mask at the immense trust being placed in him. And, as it happens, presenting his gaping masked maw to the kobold...
Fíriel, meanwhile, considers her next move. Did we decide the gug was not resistant to any energies?

Xiddik |

Xiddik eyes the pricklebeast warily, and extends the tiniest tip of her shortbow towards Firiel's extremely sharp and probably poisonous animal companion.

Asht'el |

Asht’el pouts a little at not getting the chance to see the calcifying effects of his spell, then shrugs, muttering, ”I guess I’m partly to blame for the thing being dead...“

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Sorry!
Fíriel flings more bits of wall. Cast stone discus again.
Pew! (inspire, good hope): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 28
Damage: 4d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 4) + 2 + 2 = 19
Pew! (inspire, good hope): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 20
Damage: 4d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 2) + 2 + 2 = 11
Pew! (inspire, good hope): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 35
Damage: 4d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 6) + 2 + 2 = 20
Damage counts as magic/cold iron/silver.

Njord Bjornson |

Njord tosses another gourd at the rune's trapped guardians with more explosive results.
Toss (haste, good hope, inspire): 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 30
Fire Damage: 6d6 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 3, 6, 4) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 35

Randall Quickstep |

Randall takes his crossbow loaded with twice-enchanted ammunition and heads for the door or some other suitable obstacle to the trapped creature’s view of him. He appears to be leaving.
Bluff if necessary: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33
Stealth to set up a snipe later: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42

Asht'el |

Tentacular grapple: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39
Grapple damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Asht'el repeats his previous exercise, sending burning arcs of fire at the two creatures still trapped in the writhing tentacles!
Cast chain lightning using elemental bloodline to change it to fire damage.
SR: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
Fire Damage: 14d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 4, 6, 3, 3, 1, 5, 2, 2, 6, 2, 6) = 46 (DC 24 Reflex for half, DC 22 for babau as secondary target - don't forget the Dex penalty for being grappled!)
Spells left: 7/8/5/6/5/0/4

Xiddik |

As Asht'el's spell at least partially fizzles, Xiddik rolls her eyes. "Demons." She nocks two more arrows and looses. "Do not like demons."
Ending performance, but it'll linger for 2 more rounds. Don't forget the bonuses from Inspire and Good Hope! Shooting the last demon.
Holy Composite Shortbow (GH/Inspire): 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 16 + 2 + 2 = 361d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 30
Damage (cold iron and good):: 1d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + (4, 1) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 161d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + (4, 4) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 16

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Prickles hurries forward and bites the end of Xiddik's bow as he taps it with Randall's wand, imbuing it with even more magic. Bless weapon!
UMPeeg: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21
Fíriel, meanwhile, pauses to assess the situation. Delay.

Njord Bjornson |

Njord hucks another explosive gourd.
Toss (haste, good hope, inspire): 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 22
Fire Damage: 6d6 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 6, 1, 3) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 22

DM Feral |

Randall disappears around the corner in a very convincing manner from the perspective of the trapped demons.
Asht's new spell fizzles ineffectively against the babau's fiendish resistance but Njord and Xiddik each land telling blows. The arrows from Xiddik's hedgehog-blessed blow seem particularly effective as they set the demon howling in pain.
The gug and the remaining babau continue to struggle against the tentacles.
CMBs: 2d20 ⇒ (5, 7) = 12
The party is up.

Asht'el |

I assume my spell still affected the gug, since it doesn't have SR? I didn't see a Reflex save for it, so I'm not sure.
Asht'el continues to try to hold the creatures in his spell's wriggling tentacles, while targeting the babau with a series of arcane blasts!
Magic missile at the babau.
Tentacular grapple: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23 Might they finally break loose?
Grapple damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
SR check: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23
MM Damage: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 3, 4) + 5 = 20
Spells left: 6/8/5/6/5/0/4

DM Feral |

I was going to suggest that the chain lightning didn't chain because the first target resisted and then I reread you post.
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 18
The unlucky gug suffers the full grunt of the chained lightning before it fizzles against the babau's slimy form.
The unluck finally runs out as the tentacles lose their grip and the hideous aberration slips free.
Randall, Firiel, and Xiddik are up.

Randall Quickstep |

Hoping to take the creatures by surprise, Randall pops back into view and lets fly with his crossbow at the babau.
Obviously hoping to catch the target flat-footed
+1 Crossbow, bless weapon, splinter spell resistance active: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
*face palm*

Xiddik |

Xiddik shifts uneasily, continuing to fire upon the demon. "Gug's loose!" the kobold shrieks.
Holy Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 16 + 2 + 2 = 371d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 29
Damage (cold iron and good): 1d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + (2, 3) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 161d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + (6, 4) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 21
Don't forget Good Hope! Inspiration lasts for one more round after this.

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Prickles charges forward, bravely making a scary face at the gug. Fíriel, meanwhile, gives a loud shout at the gug, attempting to rupture its eardrums. Pricklestimidate, and cast shout. Fort DC 18 for half and to negate deafness.
Peegtimidate (smaller than target): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 2 - 4 = 16
Sonic Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 6, 4) = 21

Njord Bjornson |

Njord keeps tossin'!
Toss (haste, good hope, inspire): 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 22
Fire Damage: 6d6 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 27

Randall Quickstep |

As Randall is returning the bolt to his quiver and stowing the crossbow, he nods at the tentacles, "How long will those things stay?"

Asht'el |

Asht'el snaps his fingers and the writhing black tentacles vanish. With a smile at Randall, he says, "Not long." He stands back and waits for the others to investigate the glowing sigil.

Randall Quickstep |

"Hey, that's handy!"
Carefully moving past the bodies of the guardians and inspecting the floor where the erstwhile tentacles had been on his way by, Randall moves toward the sigil. Before getting too close, he starts investigating, well aware that the sigil's magic could make it very capable of protecting itself.
Perception vs traps: 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (14) + 32 = 46

Xiddik |

"More like tendrily," Xiddik quips, eager to demonstrate to the others why she's a wind instruments bard and not a comedy bard. She walks over, tail twitching, and tries to lend her eyes to Randall's effort.
I'll auto-aid on Randall's Perception.

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Fíriel giggles softly, but at a glare from Prickles she subsides and begins to look around as well. Prickles, meanwhile, trundles over to Randall and climbs back up to the halfling's shoulder, squeaking helpfully in his ear all the while.
Fíriel Perception to Aid: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21
Prickles Perception to Aid: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24

DM Feral |

Randall, with a few pointers from his friends, deduces that the glyph is trapped much like the previous two. Any attempt to disable it by force will trigger a dangerous explosion.
As with the previous two, this glyph can be disabled by physically destroying it or by fulfilling a specific task. In this case, that specific task involves meddling with the arcane energies flowing through it - disable device x3.

Randall Quickstep |

Cheerfully accepting any aid anothers that might come my way...
Disable Device (including +7 trapfinding bonus): 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (2) + 30 = 32
Disable Device (including +7 trapfinding bonus): 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (17) + 30 = 47
Disable Device (including +7 trapfinding bonus): 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (11) + 30 = 41

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Fíriel will auto-aid, and Prickles will attempt to assist as well.
Fíriel and Prickles gather round, she commenting quietly and he squeaking and wiggling his quills helpfully.
Prickles Aid (no tools): 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 2 = 20
Come to think of it, we should probably buy him his very own set of diminutive masterwork thieves' tools.

DM Feral |

Each check is a round but Randall's got it covered.
After several tense seconds, there's an audible *gasp* from the enormous glyph as Randall trips some vital portion of the magic's workings. Rapidly, it dims and fades until it appears 'dead' and inert as the previous glyphs did.
As a side effect, the magic from the glyph seeps up into the heroes that disabled it causing the eyes of Randall and Prickles to glow with eerie light.
Both Prickles and Randall have trueseeing for the next 24 hours.

Randall Quickstep |

Randall steps back from the glyph with an audible sigh of relief before something catches his eye on the wall. He looks around the room, eyes wide, as he notices details that even his sensitive eyes had missed previously. "Everything seems... clearer now. Does the room look the same to you, Firiel? And what's going on with Prickles' eyes?"

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Fíriel glances around, then shakes her head in a clear "I don't know" gesture. Turning back to Randall, she raises her eyebrows as she sees his eyes. "Your eyes are... glowing," she comments, before examining Prickles, who happens to be facing the other direction. The hedgehog gives a little squeak and widens his eyes at Randall behind his ubiquitous mask, seemingly exploring this new effect's affect on his fearsomeness.

Fíriel Goldworthy |

A mischievous gleam enters Prickles' eyes as he observes Xiddik's discomfort. While she's busy talking to Randall, he quietly circles around behind her and then, making his most ferocious face behind his carved mask, he brazenly taps her on the tail.
Stealth: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (6) + 21 = 27
Intimidate (smaller than target): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 4 = 2

Xiddik |

Prickles accidentally taps Xiddik's very sharp tail attachment, and is dolefully sucking his cut paw when Xiddik whirls to face him. Xiddik stares at the beast, her reptilian eyes appearing torn between anger, fear, and something else.
The kobold bursts out laughing—actually laughing, which is not a terribly common habit of hers. The sound is sort of reminiscent of a chick's peeping. She crouches down, giggling like mad as she stares at Prickles.
"I—your p-pricklebeast, Firiel—" She shakes her head, tail twitching behind her wildly as she cackles. "I—oh—oh, f&!~..."
The Darklands guide's laughter, like a squeaky wheel rolling down a cliffside, continues, long after what would be socially appropriate. It's almost like she can't stop.

Fíriel Goldworthy |

Fíriel whirls at the sound of the kobold... squeaking? and stares at Xiddik for a few seconds trying to make sense of it before the kobold speaks. Tearing her eyes from Xiddik with difficulty, she raises a hand to her mouth and tries to suppress her astonishment (and amusement) as she takes in the rest of the scene.
Prickles, meanwhile, sits back on his haunches sucking his injury, looking for all the world like he's been viciously betrayed. After a few seconds, though, he tilts his head at Xiddik and gives the tiniest little snort, before launching into a sneezing fit that has all the signs of being a form of laughter.

Xiddik |

"Ah... I hate this." Xiddik's laughter finally starts to ebb, and she shakes her head ruefully. "Everything is terrible, and we are all going to death. What a mess. What a mess." She glances at Randall. "So, what next?"

Randall Quickstep |

Brow still furrowed, Randall seems to be trying to see if his eye give off enough light to read by, holding one hand, then the other before his face to see if the light shines on them.
With a start, he realizes the comment was directed at him. ”I think there’s another sigil, right? Do we have enough magic today to go find it? Or do you think we should search around here to see if the inhabitants have found something important?” He shakes his head, ”I just want to go home and watch suckers loose the money on wagers they can’t win.”

Asht'el |

"Let's head to the next sigil," Asht'el responds after an uncharacteristically long pause for thought. "Get you - and all of us - back home that much sooner."

Randall Quickstep |

"Yeah, let's."
Having moved past his moment of melancholy, the fellow with the light fingers looks around the room for anything of interest.
Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40
