You've finished up the lesser glyphs. We're moving on to the the site of the master glyph and the seat of Allevrah's power - the Throne of Abraxas.
Assume the party stopped at the shaitan temple to rest up one final time.
***
Arriving in another puff of arcane magic, the party appears at the Throne of Abraxas, a tiny inhospitable isle of sharp stalagmites on the southern section of the Caltherium. Most of the Throne of Abraxas is impassible — the giant spires of stone too steep and razor-sharp for any sort of crossing - which makes the fortress built into the island's wide central spire the only site of interest.
The party is a couple hundred feet away but the entrance of the fortress is visible.
Across a short bridge ends a level landing, flat and even but for the slopes where ripples in the black blood below lap at the stone. A great stone gate, nearly twenty feet wide and at least as tall, is carved out of the giant cliff. Each door bears a hideous symbol of a demonic face surrounded by a coil of snakes and with two snake tails descending from the mouth. The entire cliffside itself continues this serpentine motif, with hundreds, perhaps thousands of stone-carved snakes winding out like entwined sunbursts from the door as far as the eye can see.
Several demons can be seen standing guard.
Asht'el
Asht'el studies the scene before them, then begins to speak quietly and make arcane gestures, giving a couple of his companions a tap with his finger in the process. When this is complete, he says, "Anything else we need to do, or do we just go knock them on the head and open that big door?" As he waits for the others to sort themselves out, Asht'el checks to make sure his quiver of demon-slaying crossbow bolts is close at hand.
Assuming we're not about to spend a bunch of time doing something else, cast greater heroism on Njord, stoneskin on Njord and Randall. Anyone else want some buffs?

Finals Week is upon us and I have four essays to complete on top of work. I'll be taking a one-week break from PbPs, so bot Xiddik with the following understandings: When fighting starts, she will activate Inspire Courage and shoot her holy composite shortbow (default +16/+11, 1d4+3 cold iron and good +2d6 if evil). See you all Thursday!
Oh, and re-cast Good Hope if it's worn off.

Going to try to get things moving again.

”I’ll bet the big one is a spellcaster, but aren’t the bird-brains more dangerous as a group? We should focus on one of them, break up the band.”
On Randall currently: Good Hope, Stoneskin; expecting Haste and Inspire Courage to come online soon. Does anyone have an invisibility available?
Fíriel Goldworthy
Fíriel draws her magic-aiding rod and then pauses, crafting something from thin air. As the object takes shape, it becomes apparent that it's an arrow. With a little nod of satisfaction, the halfling draws back her arm and throws the arrow with all her might at the largest of the demons! Acid arrow.

"That is the thing about demons, Randall," Xiddik growls, whipping out her ocarina to cue up a tune. "They're all spellcasters."
And she begins to play. This song is unmistakeably a drinking tune—an elven drinking tune, actually. Xiddik's tail is tapping, and she seems ready to lower the ocarina at any moment to whip out her bow and burst into song.
Yepyepyep, you got it: Inspire Courage for everyone!
Asht'el
Randall - Ash'tel could have easily cast invisibility on you while doing his other buffs, so let's assume you've already got that if it's okay with Feral.
Asht'el makes a familiar gesture, spinning his hands around each other faster and faster until they're a blur, then flicking his fingers outward to grant his friends magical speed!
Move action to get Firiel in range, standard to cast haste on everyone, including Prickles!

As far as Randall can tell he's gone unnoticed under the veil of invisibility.
The nearest demon squawks in surprise and pain as Firiel's sharpened hunks of stone slam into it.
One of the vulture-demons begins to gesture and chant while its twins and the bigger four-armed demon lumber forward to engage the invaders.
The four-armed demon pauses along the way to call down a blast of painful color and noise on Xiddik and Asht in the rear.

The erstwhile invisible rogue is blind and visible. I corrected his position on the map, but there’s no reason Asht’el would have known where he was to reposition his spell, so it is what it is.
Asht'el
Randall - I can target my spell so it doesn't affect your side of the bridge. All it would have taken is a whisper from Randall as he left, saying 'I'll stay to the left.' Seems reasonable in a PbP context, where we have intermittent communication, to assume we coordinate a bit after 14 levels of adventuring together. We'll see what Feral says.
Randall Quickstep
Frankly, part of the problem is my delay in actually updating the map to show my intention, but even then, you wouldn't have known unless I had said something. As you say, we will see what Feral thinks. I really don't like my odds blind and visible in that particular spot.
Xiddik
I agree with Randall, though I wouldn't have made a fuss if he'd just let the glitterdusting fly under the radar. You could argue that the team functions enough like a well-oiled machine that characters just naturally communicate stuff like locations, but Randall getting hit makes sense to me. And credit to him for running with it.

The burst of persistent and seemingly malevolent glitter conjured by Asht works its ways into the eyes of two of the demons rendering them blind.
Xiddik hones in on the further target and hits the dancing vulture-demon with two well-placed enchanted arrows. The demon's flesh audibly sizzles as the arrows burrow into its hide and whatever magics it was working are lost.
Firiel, Randall, and Njord are up.
Randall Quickstep
Ugh. The five-foot step to be able to reach the glabrezu means I cannot attack and retreat this round. Retreating would provoke the AoO, anyway. A better choice is to attack a vrock - two are already blind, but the third is trying to be a spellcaster and is already damaged. Do I stay near the front and aid Njord, do I move to the unblinded vrock and give him a nasty surprise next time he tries to cast? .... Staying near the front.
Randall repositions himself for an attack next round, but holds off while the larger demon is so close. Reflected on the map - he's in position to attack either of the blinded vrocks next round.

Hey Firiel, you should roll some sneak attack since the demons in front are blind.
Were-Njord rends the first unfortunate vrock limb from limb. Firiel's conjured projectiles strike unerringly, badly wounding the demon adjacent the first one.
The remaining demons fight back with a vengeance despite their handicapped state. The one in the back closes on Xiddik as quickly as its tattered wings will allow.

Given the success of his first attempt at it, and the alarming proximity of the yellow-winged vrock, Asht'el casts another dense cloud of golden dust at the vrock, hoping to blind it!
Cast Persistent glitterdust defensively at yellow (need two DC 21 Will saves), then 5-foot step.

With one of the dancers down, I’m debating trying to score some damage against the larger demon while he’s apparently still blinded. The wiser choice is probably to soften up the vrock for Njord’s next rip-and-replace. Thoughts?
Asht'el
I think taking pieces off the board is the priority, so double-teaming the vrock is worth doing. If the big demon makes his save, he can always be blinded again!
Randall Quickstep
I'm always a fan of focusing fire on a target to remove actions from the enemies' turn, but wanted to make sure I was on the right track.

Should be 50/50 that he dodges into the path of the spell, don't you think? Just a case of trying to moderate the complexity in the rules, I'm sure.
Wow, I forgot haste last time, too. I'm not very good at this game lately, am I? I could have put that extra attack on the glabrezu since I was also adjacent to him. Bummer. OK, inspiration, haste, good hope. Net +5 to hit, +4 to damage, and an extra attack?
Expecting the enormous demon to regain his sight any minute, Randall hits it with everything he's got.

And seven points of bleed damage per round - I don't believe that stacks and I doubt that the critical, if successful would double the rate.
After the vicious strikes to the demon's calf and foot, Randall sidesteps. Moved one square right on the map, aiming for eventual flank with Njord if we all live long enough.
