With one of the strange beasts alone in the open, Myron seizes the opportunity to slow it down for a moment.
He steps closer to get a clear shot, then grabs a tanglefoot bag from his pack and hurls it.
The bag sails from Myron's hand and strikes the beast squarely, covering it in strands of sticky goo...
...but it is just quick enough to not be glued in place...
... as it closes the gap and continues its attack on Dumah...
...adding to the Paladin's growing collection of cuts and scrapes, but failing to grab hold with teeth.
The other one lays into Rakara in much the same manner...
...with similar results.
El repeats her gestures and more acid spatters one of the creatures--or at least, in the general vicinity of them.
Kheled completes his summoning, a small earth elemental appearing, flanking the enemy facing Rakara, attacking.

He then channels again into his friends, healing them but excluding all enemies, then moving by the well.
Dumah hesitates for the briefest moment to see what other tricks the wiley halfling might have.
Seeing Dumah await his reaction, Myron gestures to a spot behind the beast.
Dumah, move around it and strike! I’ll flank it and cut it where it hurts.
Rakara continues to whirl her blade, making it dance between her and the beast. She strikes out quickly, taunting the creature the entire time.
Dumah starts to ignore Myron and go to aid Rakara when he sees the elemental emerging from the ground. He loosens his earthbreaker from its sheath as he slides to the side, and then brings the great weapon down on the creature.

Alas, he only manages to break loose numerous cobblestones from the street.
Dumah! Stop! the elemental is helping us!
As the goo-covered beast turns it's crocodile-head to follow Dumah's movement, Myron swiftly slips in behind it and delivers a double slash with his sharp blades.
Dumah hesitates, unsure of who to help, or what to do next as El flicks some acid wide of her intended target and Rakara's intricate blade-work manages to open a very superficial wound upon the beast in front of her.
Just then, Kheled's summons appears, a small jumble of rocks and sand arranged in a rough humanoid shape, which immediately slams a fist of solid stone into the rough beast's flank with a satisfying thud. The oracle takes the opportunity to channel more divine energy into his companions as he re-positions.
At Myron's suggestion, Dumah springs into action but his heavy hammer swing finds nothing but the ground just as Myron slips into a flanking position. The creature ducks the halflings first blade easily, before the second connects, but fails to penetrate the tough hide.
The beast between Myron and Dumah maneuvers but continues to attempt to savage the much larger half-orc...
...managing to get teeth and claw into the paladin's flesh.
The other one between Rakara and the elemental spins and retaliates against the one that landed the solid blow to its backside...
...tearing the elemental apart before it fades away.
Cursing her luck, Elrisiel tries a different incantation and sends a pair of jade darts of force into the more injured-looking of the two creatures.
Seeing as the beasts do not seem to be goaded into attacking her, Rakara drops her defensive posturing and attacks fully.
Dumah sidesteps to try and keep the creature from slipping away, swiping at it again with his heavy earthbreaker.

Feeling his strength flagging from his wounds, Dumah calls on the blessing bestowed upon him to mend some of the damage. Lay on hands, . Now at 26 of 40,
The elemental continues it's assault on the flanked dog thing or if it is dead Kheled will direct it to another creature.
El's jade force bolts slam into the near beast just Rakara's falchion crashes into the thing's shoulder.
The elemental swings wide as does Dumah.
Like the third member of a dancing trio, Myron keeps perfect pace with Dumah and the beast, swinging his twin blades as he goes.
Kheled begins another summoning.
Myron's twin strikes fail to find their target as Kheled begins another summoning spell.
A moment later both creatures fade from view leaving no apparent enemies visible...
The party stands around after their foes disappear...
Kheled, tend to the injured woman. Everyone else, search for the summoner.
Myron takes cover by the wall of one of the buildings and peers down the ally.
You notice that Kheled appears to be in the middle of casting a spell...he nods his head at the alley where the last summoned creature came from...
Rakara moves to look into the alley.
Myron and Rakara peer down the alley from which the creature came but they see nothing and no one...
Nothing in sight.... Myron calls, waiting in position for Kheled to complete his spell.
Dumah will reach out with his will, searching for any of his foes.
Kheled finishes his summoning placing it next to the women. He then brings out a wand of cure light wounds and moves over to the women.
Myron and Rakara keep their eyes on the alley as Dumah begins sweeping the area for hidden foes. Kheled finishes his summoning and another elemental rises up to stand guard over the fallen woman. Kheled himself limps over while drawing his wand.
No sign of additional enemies reveal themselves...
If nothing happens I will use the wand on the women until she gains consciousness.
Elrisiel incants the words to a spell of magic detection and moves to peer down the alley the summoned creatures came from.
Myron holds position, and keeps looking around for signs of enemies.
All efforts to detect additional foes, or the one responsible for summoning them, fail to reveal anything.
As Kheled waves his wand over the downed woman, her eyes pop open. A look of fear and confusion wash over her features, only reinforced by the presence of the elemental standing sentinel over her. Her eyes shift to the downed zombies and then finally to Kheled himself. Her gaze settles on his holy symbol. In response, a scream seems imminent...
With a wave of his hand Kheled dismisses the elemental, he then tries to calm the woman down, I have healed you, we mean you no harm. We are provisional agents of the city, trying to stop what is happening in the city....you are no longer in danger.
He continues to try to calm her down with a soothing tone and manner.
though his efforts don't seem to be very effective.
The woman's eyes remain wide. You! You did this! You brought these things! Why would you?
With no threats visible and the woman starting to panic, Myron sheathes his kukri and hurries over to help smooth things out.
Doing his best to appear non-threatening, he says:
He's telling you the truth. He summoned the elemental to fight the crocodile-faced beasts, who in turn seemed to fight both undead and living. it is truly confusing times, but I assure you, we mean you no harm.
The musetouched elf, halo still glowing over her head, moves to join Kheled and Myron in placating the woman. "We were told there was a disturbance this way by the city guard, and sent to end it. Are you alright?"
The woman gets to her feet, but her eyes never leave Kheled. She shakes a finger at the oracle and screams accusingly, Maybe you yourself didn't, but one of your fellow priests summoned those beasts and left them to run amok! We already have the dead to contend with!
, Did you see this person? If so he needs to be brought to justice.
A pharasmin released these beast into the city? Incredible!? It would explain why they attacked the zombies, but I can't believe any of the priests would do something so reckless. We had better report this back at the Grand Mausoleum.
Of course I saw him. He was once of those Voices priests.
Rakara keeps an eye out for any danger while the others deal with the woman.
Did he give his name, if not can you describe him or her?
No! When he released those things I tried to get as far away from them as I could! Unfortunately I ran right into those, she says indicating the zombies, and before I knew what was happening, those same beasts appeared and I got caught in the middle!
That bastard didn't even stick around to control those things!
