Gaelwyn
|
Gaelwyn staggers back down the stairs trying to get back down to the floor and preferably under overhang to the floor the goblins are on so they can't reach him.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Assuming an acro check is needed to get down safely...Of course the good news is that even if I fail this check I'll likely still make it down ;-)
| DM Khel |
Gaelwyn manages to make it down the broken stairs, though the flames on his body are more than a little distracting. In his eagerness to get under cover, he takes a path straight through his companions - which will be helpful if they wish to put out Gaelwyn's personal fire, but does present a tempting target for anyone throwing explosives from above...
Moved Gaelwyn in the most direct path towards the overhung area. Also, it seems I cast aspersions on everyone about their HP updates, when only Sobestian was derelict in that duty. My apologies. :p
Rokdor is up!
Oldmar Lucridious
|
Oldmar has to bite his tongue. He lifts his axe in the air and stares hard at the goblin, as if to remind it that he slew two of its companions with the weapon. He points the the creature and silently mouths: you're next.
Hoping against hope that that gets the gobber's attention away from Gaelwyn.

Uh, our DM has pointed out that due to his cruel and malevolent nature, I can't attempt that saving throw until next round. However, in what must be an attempt to cover up that same nature, he's offered to let me keep the roll.
Rokdor pauses after throwing her cloak over Gaelwyn and glares up at the still-standing goblin on the top floor, making a punching motion with her fist.
Boop: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
| DM Khel |
My cruel and malevolent nature is also going to give Oldmar the outcome he wanted, since he’s physically closest to the goblin (who’s now scared witless because he’s alone) and he’s menacing him. Well played!
The last goblin standing reels under the impact of a powerful, long-distance right hook from a magical dorf! He shakes his head to clear it, then panics as Oldmar menaces him, and the little monster tosses a flask and darts out of sight! In spite of his fear, the goblin’s aim is true, and Oldmar is now on fire as well! Yippee! The combined effects of the fire already on Gaelwyn, and the additional fuel so recently added to that fire, send the stalwart fighter tumbling to the floor, his flames still casting a warm glow on the faces of his companions.
Although it’s rather pleasant to stand with her companions around a flickering fire in the sudden quiet, the fact that the fire is slowly consuming one of them puts a bit of a damper on Rokdor’s enjoyment. As a result, she whips off her heavy winter cloak with a flourish and throws it over Gaelwyn! The perfect placement and the weight of the cloak combine to snuff out the flames immediately, with no effect on the garment other than a rather agreeable smoky smell.
Ekkie cautiously takes a few steps into the room, peering at the Pathfinders, as if she’s puzzled why they’re standing around a cloak-covered lump on the floor when there’s so much more fun to be had blowing things up!
Alchemist’s fire, range: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 2 = 17 at Oldmar
Fire damage: 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (4) = 7
Sobestian and Gaelwyn each take 1 point of splash damage. That, plus the additional fire damage already accounted for, puts Gaelwyn at -6, and squarely in the unconscious column.

| DM Khel |
Hakotep - neither goblin is in sight at the moment. The bomber is on the floor asleep, so can't be seen over the edge of the floor above, and the other one threw an alchemist's fire and darted away from the edge, so you can't see him either. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Oldmar Lucridious
|
Curious -- what's the extra 1d4 fire damage from?
Oldmar embraces the flame. Despite the stink, it might actually help absolve him of soiled clothing. On fire, he calmly draws another javelin and waits.
Javelin: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
| DM Khel |
No goblin appears on the upper level. In fact, it's gone very quiet up there, except for what might possibly be the sound of a goblin snoring.
Extra d4 is from a goblin feat. It's kind of funny, it makes the goblin assistants at least as dangerous as their boss, the goblin alchemist.
| DM Khel |
With neither goblin visible from below, the room is far more quiet than a few moments ago, the only sound the licking of the last few flames on Oldmar before their fuel is exhausted.
Fire damage to Oldmar: 1d6 ⇒ 5
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
We don’t strictly need to follow initiative at this point, though we could go back into it, depending, so I’ll leave it here.

Hey Sobestian, would you mind making this wand of CLW work? Thx.
CLW for Rokdor: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW for Rokdor: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Two charges used; 48 remain.
Oldmar Lucridious
|
Oldmar stifles a grunt of frustration and puts away his javelin, collecting the other two as well. He thrusts a wand unceremoniously at Sobestian.
CLWx2: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 8) + 2 = 13 puts me at 17/20hp.
Oldmar Lucridious
|
Without a word, Oldmar takes off his breastplate and puts away his shield before clambering atop the ledge. Take 10 without armor check penalty should get me there. He draws his axe and drives it home in the snoozing goblin's throat.
Coup de Grace: 3d10 + 9 ⇒ (2, 7, 2) + 9 = 20 DC 30 Fort save or die
The grinning head rolls off the ledge in a brief waterfall of goblin blood. Oldmar scans the area up above and slowly puts his armor back on. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
| DM Khel |
The sleeping alchemist dies without a sound, except for the thunk of his skull bouncing off a large chunk of rubble on the floor below.
At the far end of the upper room, Oldmar can make out the last goblin, huddled in the corner and trying not to be noticed.
Oldmar Lucridious
|
Bound by circumstance, Oldmar finally breaks his silence. He calls down to Rokdor in Dwarven, a sure sign to his companions that something is up, as he finishes buckling his breastplate. "The last one's up here. I should be able to handle him." Hefting his waraxe with both hands, he wheels and charges!
Charge!: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11
Shirt Reroll, with Stars: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 2 + 3 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
| DM Khel |
As Oldmar charges, the frightened goblin squeals and holds a flask aloft, drawing his arm back to throw it! The dwarf’s determined charge, however, is too fast and powerful for the goblin, who ends up in the floor in two ragged pieces!
A search of the room turns up a wealth of alchemical items (6 alchemist’s fires, 2 flasks of acid, 2 flash powders, 2 smokesticks, 2 sneezing powders). In addition, Sobestian points out a charcoal drawing sketched directly on the wall. It appears to be a goblin version of a “strategic blueprint” - an extremely rudimentary pictorial map of Magnimar with fire and smoke pouring from the buildings, as well as numerous dead dogs, horses, and humanoids.
That’s it for this room, where to now?
Hakotep Flaxseed

"Ekkie, do you know to expect that way?" He points down the corridor to the southeast. After Ekkie has given what she knows, the halfling pharaoh suggests that everyone head in that direction.
| DM Khel |
I’ll assume you collect the alchemical goodies.
Oldmar makes his way back down to the main level as Hakotep chats with Ekkie. ”Never seen this place,” she replies, ”tol’ you that. But I knows what to ‘spect – Marauders. More Nightsoil Marauders. And somewhere down tha’ tunnel, de big boss. ‘Big creepy one’ like horse-killer man said.”
Armed with this useless information, the party moves along down the corridor, which soon leads to a much larger room than the others seen so far. A large stone channel, flowing with a truly vile concoction of wastes, bisects this dank chamber. Thick masonry pipes clutter the room, feeding more of the filth into the channel. A stone walkway crosses the channel, but crude barbed caltrops litter the length of this bridge. The entire chamber is damp and moldy, and filled with deeply unpleasant smells, and the floor is slick with things best not mentioned.
Two goblins stand at the end of the small bridge, holding what look like small halberds, but with a large hook opposite the axe-blade. A third goblin (pink), dressed in ragged jester’s motley, stands to one side of the bridge, a whip in his hand and a cruel sneer on his face.

Rokdor grunts at the sight of more goblins, but moves stalwartly forward and sends a glob of acid flying toward the nearest one. Moved 20', cast acid splash.
Pew (inspire): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 = 9
Damage?: 1d3 ⇒ 2
| DM Khel |
Hakotep begins to intone a spell, Sobestian starts a rousing song, and Rokdor flings a blob of acid through the air! The blob smooshes through a vertical fall of viscous, brown liquid, splashing a good deal of it on the far wall but having no effect on her goblin targets.
Ekkie wrinkles her nose at the stench of the room – and when a smell bothers a goblin, it must be bad. ”Yuck,” she says simply.
Sobestian wasn’t up yet, so his Inspire Courage won’t be in play this round – I just figured he’d started singing, without mechanical effect yet.

Cool, thanks. Oldmar got dropped from initiative somehow, but I assume he didn't die suddenly.
Oldmar eyes the caltrops warily and opts for a different tactic. He strides to the western edge of the room, gets a running start, and leaps across the gap!
Loooooong Jump!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Landing as nimbly as a dwarf can land on the otherside, he has just enough time to step towards the nearest goblin, axe in hand.
| DM Khel |
Gaelwyn has pointed out to me that we ended the last encounter with him at -3 hp, and no healing was applied to him. I’m going to assume his Pathfinder companions applied some CLW wand charges to him, hope that’s okay.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 That puts him at full HP. Let's say that used charges from Rokdor, Sobestian and Hakotep?
Oldmar, in most un-dwarf-like fashion, leaps upon a pipe and runs along it, then sails through the air, landing on another pipe on the far side of the channel of shit!

Thanks!
Having retrieved all of the alchemical goodies, Gaelwyn was a bit behind the leaders as they entered the room. Hearing the commotion ahead he hurries forward with an alchemist's fire in hand and throws it across the chasm at the goblin at the far side of the bridge Blue goblin.
Throw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 ranged touch attack - might be -2 for range?
fire: 1d6 ⇒ 3 round 1 damage
"I'll clear the bridge"!
| DM Khel |
Gaelwyn launches a flask of fire at the goblin at the end of the bridge and lights him on fire!
The motley-clad goblin takes a quick step away from Oldmar, moving with surprising elegance and grace for his kind. ”You poor fools!” he cries out in a sonorous voice. ”You’ll never leave this place alive, and your corpses will float down the stream of filth as they deserve! And the flying dwarf will sink the deepest!”
At the same time, the burning goblin attempts to extinguish the flames but is unsuccessful! His bridge-mate steps past him and swings his pole arm at Oldmar but just misses the dwarf!
Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Horsechopper attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 vs Oldmar

Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
The two goblins guarding the bridge are both overcome by Hakotep’s spell and drop to the filthy floor. The one that’s on fire wakes up immediately, looking around in pain and confusion.
I’m going to say that actively burning keeps him from actually being asleep, but blue will be prone. Red is asleep. It hit the lower-HD ones first.
Hako - you’re well out of range for acid splash.
