Cecilia Hawthorne
Cecilia grits her teeth as the arrow cuts across her arm. She carefully adjusted her body, angling her limb so that the blood dripped down onto the grass, and not back onto herself.
Halting her horse, the bard changed targets. Now aiming at the goblin with brown headgear, she loosed another arrow.
Attack Roll Vs Goblin Warrior (Brown): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage Roll: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Motivated by the pain inflicted upon her, Cecilia once again makes good use of her shortbow. This time her arrow pierces the goblin through the heart, skewering the little creature like a pig on a spit.
Already reaching for another arrow, she once again called out to her allies. "I can take care of the ones on this side. Concentrate on the others!"
Swift Action: Use Arcane Strike to add +1 to Damage Roll , Standard Action: Attack Goblin Warrior (Brown) with Shortbow.

Aelion has Precise Shot. Also, the hatred of the dicebot.
Unable to make a telling shot in the confusion despite years training to shoot into melee without shooting his fellows, Aelion felt his calm fraying, just a bit.
"If we have to give you death by a thousand cuts, goblins, we will," he promised darkly.

Dayana manages to hex the red goblin while Aelion lands a couple of glancing hits on the hobgoblin beside it.
Cecilia delivers a fatal shot through the heart of the goblin in the brown cap.
“Өкінішті! Бұл ақымақтарды Синруттың қаһарын көрсет!” cries the hobgoblin.
The red goblin inflicts another cut to Kra’el’s steed (2 Damage).
As Ingra steps towards the goblins in green and blue, they jump back another five feet and draw another pair of arrows. This time the goblin in blue fires up toward Zalindra, while the green-clad goblin lands a hit on the dwarf (2 Damage).

Attack Roll Vs Goblin Warrior (Yellow): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage Roll: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Imbued with arcane energy, the arrow caught the goblin right in the neck. Its death was not a gentle one. The creature scratched desperately at its neck, coughing and spluttering, struggling to breathe. But as the goblin collapsed to the ground, the bard simply turned away.
Ride Check (Guide With Knees): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Steering her horse, Cecilia galloped towards the other goblins, moving her Dancing Lights spell in that same direction. She could not help but laugh as she approached these new foes, her spirits bolstered. She would strike down these goblins just as easily as she had the others!

Apparently, being able to see an opponent does not automatically equate to hitting it, as once again, Ingra's swing misses the target.
Was Ingra one to resort to insults when angry? Apparently she was, though she had to try and not accidentally compliment the goblins.

Showing off their ability to work as a team, the group proves just how effective they can be.
Dayana hexes the goblin in yellow, opening him up to Cecilia’s attack, which brings his life to a gruesome end.
Circling around the survivors, Jathal delivers a near-fatal shot to a gap in the hobgoblin’s armor and the the monstrous humanoid lets out a defiant howl before Aelion finishes him off.
The red goblin, denied the easy target of the horse’s legs attempts to slice through Kra’el’s breastplate to no avail.
As Ingra once again steps up to the remaining goblins, they finally drop their bows and draw swords. Dodging the dwarf’s attack, her green-capped foe delivers a small cut to her forearm (1 Damage).

Still riding upon her horse, Cecilia nods in agreement, seeing the irrefutable logic of her allies. "Yes, be very careful!" She shouted, as she saw the others purposely miss the goblins again and again. "We'll need at least one or two of these creatures alive if we are to find out where they are taking Sertanian!"
Seeing that the goblin with the red headgear was already badly hurt, Cecilia moved her horse around the trees, towards the sounds of combat.

Dayana manages to hex the goblin in blue just as the green capped goblin shakes off the hex she had previously cast.
As Cecilia delivers an ultimatum to the goblins, they look at each other, puzzled.
Aelion crashing through the foliage behind them seems to get the message across, to one of them at least. The blue capped goblin spins around and drops his weapon.
The green isn't quite so skittish however, and it delivers a powerful thrust into Kra'el's thigh (7 Damage).

Cecilia Hawthorne
Moving forward, Cecilia stops in front of the one surviving goblin. Returning her rapier to its sheath, she carefully retrieves the blade that the creature had deposited on the ground. Holding it in her hand, she searches the goblin, checking for more weapons, ammunition, and any other noteworthy items.
With that taken care of, Cecilia looks down at the goblin warrior. The creature looked significantly less threatening now that it was no longer wielding a blade or bow. Still, the bard had to remind herself that an entire army of these goblins had just burnt down half of Brindol.
Hoping that she wouldn't have to resort to torture, Cecilia knelt down in front of the goblin. "Can you understand me?" She asked, once again speaking in Common.
DM Kaavek
Cecilia pats down the captive goblin, confiscating a sack full of stale bread crusts that has just started to show signs of mould, and a quiver of 7 black arrows. Turning out the goblin’s pockets reveals what at first appears to be a great red gem but which actually turns out to be a strawberry fossilized in syrup.
”Кінәлі адам, біз сіздің қалаңызды әдемі қызыл етіп жарқыратамыз!” it spits back at the bard as she addresses it.
Cecilia Hawthorne
Cecilia stares blankly at the goblin,before looking to rest of the group. "Anyone else catch that?" She asked, brushing back a single strand of red hair.
Dayana Elerye
"I believe Kra'el speaks the language," Dayana offers helpfully. "Perhaps we ought let him do the talking here, because I do not believe any goblin we'll meet speaks the same tongue as us."
Zalindra Freston
He's just spouting insults at this point. says Zalindra.
Don't worry. You win the ugliness contest. Where did you take the human you took?
Kra'el Blackscale
The big dragonborn scowls at the wound in his leg but otherwise ignores it as he kneels down ominously in front of the goblin. Grabbing the goblins upraised hands in one large fist, Kra'el lifts the creature so its face is level with his.
In an angry rumble, his acid-tinged breath flowing heavily over the creature's face, Kra'el speaks.
"Бізде бірнеше сұрақ бар. Сіз оларға жауап бересіз. Одан бастаңыз."
The big dragonborn gestures slightly with his head toward Zalindra. Most of the goblin's vision is filled with the big, heavy-breathing maw of an angry black dragonborn.
Intimidate plus size bonus: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Ingra Stormstone
Ingra spits on the ground, frustrated that her lack of combat experience would be so obvious during such a crisis.
She grumbled under her breath in her native tongue, before approaching the others.
"Well done everyone. Callistra, I apologise for earlier. Your leadership here outweighs whatever shortcomings I believed you and Zalindra had. Guess I have a lot more to learn about humans than biology."
Ingra was proud, but she had put too much importance on night vision, as clearly displayed by her inability to hit her targets. She would carry that lesson to other races in the future. Her pride wouldn't get in the way of admitting that she was wrong...
Horses she had judged 100% correctly though and she wasn't looking forward to getting back on hers.
DM Kaavek
The goblin squeaks and a foul smelling, golden liquid begins to stream down its legs and drip to the ground below.
Castle Rivenroar is an ancient ruin in the Giantshield Mountains to the northeast of Brindol. Built hundreds of years ago it was long the seat of the Rivenroar Family.
About three hundred years ago the Rivenroar Family had some caves below their castle dug out, smoothed out and converted in to catacombs. Although the catacombs were never vast they were big enough that they managed to hold the deceased of the Rivenroars and a couple of allied noble families.
~~~
The Rivenroars were a family of nobles who were of considerable wealth and standing back in the days when Rhest was at the heart of the Vale.
With the fall of Rhest the Rivenroars themselves went somewhat into decline and although there are scions of the family still to be found, they are but a shadow of their past status. None now live in the castle and there are none left who could afford to repair it even if they had the will to do so.
He says they are taking some captives (sounds like more than one) to Castle Rivenroar, which is a ruin in the Giantshield Mountains to the northeast of Brindol. I'm guessing the catacombs beneath the castle. He says they are meant as gifts for some undead, so I am guessing they won't stay alive for long.
DM Kaavek
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Zalindra Freston
I've never actually been, but I think the ruins are about 5 or 6 hours travel northeast of here.
Cecilia Hawthorne
Still on something of a natural high after such a glorious battle, Cecilia smiled at the dwarf's kind words. "I prefer to be called 'Lady Hawthorne' actually, but I appreciate the sentiment, Miss Stormstone." The bard said. Removing her long brimmed hat with a flourish of her hand, she gave a nod of respect to the warrior.
Hearing of the ruins, Cecilia's smile only grew wider. If she seemed at all alarmed about descending into dark tunnels filled with undead, then she gave no sign of it. "It appears we have our next destination, then." The bard said, already looking to the northeast. She did stop for a moment as she remembered the wound to her arm. Examining the limb, she saw that it was a small cut, all things considered. But Cecilia was not used to experiencing such discomforts, and this dulled her enthusiasm somewhat.
"As much as I hate to say it, perhaps we should find somewhere to stop and rest along the way. We'll need to be at our best if we are to save Mr Freston."
Dayana Elerye
Although annoyed at Cecilia's bravado, Dayana bites back any snide comments she might possess regarding it in favor of calmly agreeing, "Resting would indeed be wise. Find a safe place to sleep for the rest of the night and set out when there is daylight to guide us... after all, we can only see so far in the darkness."
Kra'el Blackscale
Still holding the creature off the ground in one hand, Kra'el wrinkles his nose in distaste.
"I believe we have gotten all we need from this... thing. And yes... rest would be valuable."
His other hand still holds his bloody blade which shifts ominously.
Kra'el is definitely going to run this goblin through but I'm hesitating since a few haven't chimed in, in case we have more questions. Do we have any healing resources whatsoever?
Zalindra Freston
Kra'el. You would murder an opponent that surrendered to you?
I am not happy about today's events, but let us not become what we hate and lose ourselves along with all the rest that we have lost.
