The door opens to reveal horrors

This foul-smelling butchery is a horrifying affront to all the senses. Haunches of poorly smoked meat hang from hooks along the ceiling or lie heaped in and atop crates. In some cases, the meat seems to dog or horse, but in many other cases, the meat has all-too-recognizable features, like feet, hands, or grimacing faces.

Area C21

This room contains a small armory of crudely made weapons (mostly dogslicers and shortbows) and several small goblin-sized suits of studded leather armor and dented shields. To the south stand a pair of workbenches.

Wrinkling his nose at the stench in the first room, Alexei quickly shuts the door behind them, leaving the noisome smells alone.

In the armory, he looks quickly through all the goblin gear making sure there isn't something of greater value hiding in among the goblin-y weapons.

If he doesn't spy anything, Alexei suggests leaving all these low quality weapons behind, perhaps burning or breaking them instead.

Area C23

Several rugs made from dog or horse hide lie strewn over the dirt floor of this room. Against the north wall stands an impressive collection of horseshoes, each nailed to the wall. To the east sits a ragged padded chair next to a rickety desk that may have once been an expensive antique. In the northwest corner sits a canopied bed covered with silk sheets and sporting an elaborately carved headboard that features nymphs and satyrs cavorting in a forest. The bed's sheets are stained with dirt, while the headboard is bashed and battered.

Everybody make 2 perception checks.

Under a pillow, you find a silver holy symbol of lamashtu.

On the chair to the east, you find a large iron key wedged under the seat.

"Did we miss where that key goes? Seems strange to stash it, if it doesn't unlock something important."

The one room left on the eastern side of Thistletop is Area C14, we tend to be thorough, so I assume we check that as well.

Area C14

Beromar kicks open the door to find six poorly constructed bunk beds, little more than hammocks slung from rickety frames, standing along the walls of this room. Each is heaped with a vermin-infested blanket and a lump of straw that serves as a frustrating pillow.

There is nothing here.

But a whimper to Beromar's right announces the presence of six goblins waiting in the main hall.

Agreed...however I've been playing quite a few characters with combat reflexes in different games and rarely has it been as good as it has been in this game... it does help however that the gang doesn't charge every foe on first sight! As a GM you will have more leeway to circumvent it once you get to NPC "intelligent" foes ...

Alexei nods his thanks to the elf after the compliment. He grits his teeth in frustration as Beromar still blocks the path to shoot at the rest of the goblins.

Alexei draws his bow to his check ready to send an arrow on its way if the path clears.

Beromar barrels past the goblin and looks to help Viroleth however in these tight quarters the Dwarf can't bring his axe to bear. However Alexei already has n arrow knocked and takes out the pesky goblin for Beromar.

Move through goblins square. However as the Acrobatics DC is 5 +CMD I doubt that will do it. Try agai with my standard action... that should do it. The goblin north of Viro is now flanked btw....as is Beromar...

That's an acrobatics DC of 19 and 14 respectively. So the first provokes an attack. Due to initiative order, the AOO happens before Alexei gets a shot off.

The goblin that Beromar all but runs over takes a token swipe with his sword that does little other than chip away at the wall.

He raises his arm for another strike, but his head is impaled by Alexei's arrow, ending his existence.

It's worth noting that after this battle we level up to 4. So everybody might want to start thinking about that. For spellcasters who get additional slots, you'll need 15 minutes of uninterrupted time to prepre their new spell slots.

The goblin facing Beromar drops his shortbow, draws his shortsword and with a whimper stabs at Beromar. But to his absolute shock, he actually manages to slightly wound the intimidating dwarf.

The other goblin is clearly insane, as he starts cackling and aims a stab at Viroleth, indifferent to all his dead comrades. Viroleth parries the wild attack with no problem.

After knocking down one goblin with this last shot, Alexei rushes forward, nocking another black-feathered shaft and shoots again. Firing around Viroleth, the arrow strikes the fierce goblin he is engaged with, wounding it mortally.

Beromar shifts a step back so that he can swing his hammer with full force but the Dwarf only scrapes the ceiling.

Viroleth would kill his goblin before Alexei could hit him. So we'lll just retcon that he hit the one facing off with Beromar instead.
