DM Carbide
That's true. Up to you, Eva.
DM Carbide
The only wrinkle there is that Torque acts after the Mistress, so if you wait you won't be in reach of her attacks you won't be close enough to interfere if she casts something.
DM Carbide
Because you (collectively) were essentially trying to surprise her with the charm monster spell and she spotted it/wasn't surprised. So Senja's surprise round action was casting the spell, and you all got the same kind of action. If there's an issue with that, I really wish you would have said something two days ago when I laid out how I was going to run this.
Kali Starr
|
Kali moves closer the devil lady in hopes of soon providing a flank for Eva.
Not sure if I still get the surprise action or not. But if I do then that's what I'm doing.
DM Carbide
Me, mostly, but that's because I was still waiting on comments--if no one objects, I'll stick with the surprise round as is, and we can retcon later if necessary.
The devil spins and slashes out at Eva with a claw that nearly disembowels the monk. Operating on instinct alone she manages to twist free as the devil tries to grab her but she still takes 37 HP.
Torque casts his spell.

Eva strikes rapidly at the diabolical foe, hitting solidly the first time before the Mistress dodges the other two. The monk's attempt to daze her opponent is countered with almost contemptuous ease, and Eva also learns a painful lesson in the penalty for striking at one of Hell's jailers: the barbs and spines on the Mistress' body are long enough that her strike against the devil caused her hand to impact them for 9 HP. It lands a shallow blow on her immediately afterwards for another 8 HP.
You are so effing lucky, Eva--four attack rolls (two claws, one confirmation roll, one grab attempt) resulted in 19, 1, 5, and 2. And then I made the average with the previous round's crit confirmation damage....

Barbed Defense (Su) A creature that strikes a hamatula with a melee weapon, an unarmed strike, or a natural weapon takes 1d8+6 points of piercing damage from the devil's barbs. Melee weapons with reach do not endanger a user in this way.
Torque the Lawbringer

Torque moves up and lays a hand on the giant bar, infusing him with the sheer power of Law and Justice!
Touch of Law. Once per day, Torque can touch a willing creature as a standard action, infusing it with the power of divine order and allowing it to treat all attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round as if the natural d20 roll resulted in an 11.

I'll give Senja a bit to respond, but just in case he's afk for more than a day or so think about what he'll do.
Senja Kala

Senja darts down the hallway away from the fight, approaching the nephelim and saying, "You want to get back at the Mistress, right? Let me take you into the fight!"
He reaches a small hand out to the towering figure, then blinks them both into the space beyond the glowing emerald pillar!
Assuming the nephelim is a willing creature, will cast dimension door to take us both behind the Mistress. And if the nephelim doesn't want to go or we're in one of the many places Paizo likes to say that teleportation spells don't work, then I'll find that out.
DM Carbide
Way too slow to get back to this--combination of system instability and RL.
The nephilim nods and holds out his hand. Immediately upon their appearance behind Eva, Jherao squeezes between the wall and the Spire core to get close enough to the Mistress to strike at her past Eva. He hits her once, solidly.
