So here we are..
I'd like to welcome you all to the game and hope you will have as much fun with it as I do.
We have one PbP beginner with us (Miss Lori) so I expect the rest off you to give her player the benefit of your experience in the medium.
As you can see I'll be using a new alias to GM this game..kudos to those who get the reference.
Please refer to the Campaign Info Page for further details of the Lottery .

Here's my suggestion as to how you all met.
Lori was a guard on the caravan that brought Max Stoutwick to Wati and it was from him that she discovered what was occurring there.Deciding that sticking together was the best policy they soon discovered that a knowledge of Ancient Osiriani would be essential to the explorations, so they were put in touch with Cerastes as someone with the necessary knowledge and could handle himself in a fight if need be.
Cerastes knowing the dangers inherent in the Necropolis contacted one of his many sources in the mercenary hiring business and that brought in Ra_Khefer...who was still somewhat confused at being alive when he knew he had been dead. Meanwhile the somewhat less confused but equally intrigued Inferis who had also been in the caravan, sort of invited herself along as an expert consultant on the undead and Max really didn't know how to say no.
Not forcing this on you just a suggestion.

Sounds pretty cool to me. I'm all for meeting some of the party through my little guarding of the caravan.
here's a thought that I was wrestling with when creating Lori, I debating over having her die with the rest of the crew as well, and giving her the Resurrected trait instead, though she wouldn't have known it. Like a reward from Gozreh for being the only one that stood against the blaspheme of the ship's name. But I went with the Foreign Opportunist because that trait was a more driving force since Lori wouldn't know she was resurrected. So i dunno if you wanna spin that in somehow into the game at well, but it was a thought I had during her creation.

Inferis 'al Marris |

Checking In! Happy to be here Pae....I mean the Watcher on the Horizon.
I vote for arguing in character on the group name.
I'm okay with the proposed background. I can see Inferis just inviting herself along.
Sounds fine to me.
FYI Inferis, you still know the cantrips from your banned schools, they just cost 2 slots to prepare.
I can learn them and then use two slots but you don't start out knowing them. spell book

Quick question before we get into our first dungeon, do you want me to keep close watch on my ammo and such. I know bullets are expensive (1gp per), but my gunsmithing feat lets me craft them for free at 1sp each I believe. I'll definitely keep track of any academical rounds I get, but what about the average bullet.

I used the gear suggestions in the Player's Guide as a resource for buying equipment. Perhaps we can take stock as a group and see what is still needed. Although Cerastes is a bit on the poor side right now he'll pitch in his remaining 4gp and 8sp to buy group loot.

Maxelmish Stoutwick |

Here is a thing I often put together for groups I'm in. Couldn't find how much gp Lori had left over. If anyone wants edit access, PM me an email address.

Miss Lori |

Lori's bought everything she needs to be honest, i was just gonna fluff her getting some hot weather clothes before hitting up a bar or something.
@ max - hehe, yeah, I'm pretty encumbered to be honest. I dunno if DM's gonna be a stickler about that or not. When I DM a game for my group, I don't usually have my players keep track of that. If I don't have to keep track of my bullets or if I can make my own bullets, I'll have 26 gold left over. If I have to keep track of my bullets or can't build my own bullets at the moment, it'll be less. Total weight i'm carrying is about 61 pounds which i believe is heavy for me unless some big, strong man wants to carry my gear for me. lol. At least until i get something like a bag of holding or whatever.

The players map for Wati is at the back of the Players Guide.
I don't worry about encumbrance mostly..my thought is that in a fight you have quick release knots so it's a free action to drop packs etc and get down to fighting weight. If you are laden down with masses of loot on the other hand that might become a problem.
Lori might find a merchant she can use in the Inn itself there seem to be quite a few.

Miss Lori |

but there's still the issue with my ammo, unless I missed it.
Do you want me to keep track of it and can I make some pre-dungeon delve. the gunsmithing feat lets me built ammo at 10% its cost and it takes a day per 1,000 gp. It's easy to assume we've been in Wati for at least a day or so before the raffle so could i have made a bunch of bullets in that time? Those are my main two questions.
I'm hoping after the first delve I'll have enough gp to upgrade my starter pistol to masterwork, but that also takes a day and I have no idea if I'll have enough time between delves to do that.

Miss Lori |

gotcha. well its essentially 1 gold for 10 bullets so I was planning on 50 for my little ammo bag I have on my waist. If you want me to lessen then, just let me know.
I"m also ok with time warping it to the next day, figured it'll be better to post that here than clog up the gameplay thread with the ok.

Some Information on the subject of Languages
Ancient Osiriani and the modern Osiriani tongue are two separate, but very closely connected, languages. Ancient Osiriani is the direct precursor to modern Osiriani, differing mainly in its simpler vocabulary and the number and complexity of its hieroglyphs. The change from Ancient Osiriani to modern Osiriani took place gradually, primarily during the Keleshite Interregnum of 1532 to 4609 ar, when Qadiran satraps and Keleshite sultans ruled Osirion.
These foreign rulers deliberately attempted to transform Osirian culture by imposing Keleshite traditions on the people of Osirion, which over time resulted in the loss of much of Osirion’s history and customs, including the Ancient Osiriani language. Although speakers of Ancient Osiriani can make themselves understood in modern Osiriani (albeit with a noticeably archaic accent), the same cannot be said of modern Osiriani speakers communicating in Ancient Osiriani.
In the tombs of Wati’s necropolis (and other ancient Osirian sites), all mentions of “hieroglyphs” refer to the Ancient Osiriani language.
Contemporary Osiriani uses much simpler hieroglyphs, and a speaker of modern Osiriani cannot automatically read Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs. However, because of the similarities between the two languages, a speaker of modern Osiriani can decipher Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs with a successful DC 20 Linguistics check. A character who knows neither modern nor Ancient Osiriani must succeed at a DC 30 Linguistics check to decipher Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs.

I have no problem with you taking 10 on Knowledge Skills you are trained in..I generally don't allow take 10 or 20 on untrained skills. To be honest as with perception take 10 is probably the default for most mental skills anyway. This can go a long way towards making non combat knowledge checks much simpler for me as I can instantly tell if the party as a unit can come up with the answers..
I'll add the defaults to the campaign page so I have them in one place.

Hmm..I'd forgotten the Lore Master ability..let me check a few things..
Checks.........
Facepalms.....
Ok According to Jason Buhlman you cant take 10 or 20 on a knowledge skill..forget what I said earlier.
Also it should be remembered that you can't get better than a 10 on an untrained knowledge skill no matter what the roll(unless you are a bard) so Inferis should not have known the information from the Know.(Local) I'll let it ride but it should be kept in mind.
