Rilendo atttacks Guy J. Uses TWF.

Rilendo defends himself against the opponent directly in front of him. His longsword strikes true. His blow meets his opponent solidly (dealing 7 damage).

His opponent still stands, even after the effective display of swordsmanship. Has the second opponent enters the fray, Rilendo seizes the opportunity to attack, and he lands a solid blow. A very solid blow.
AoO additional: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
(Rilendo dealt 12 damage)

Adjustment: Rilendo forgot to roll twice for crit, not double. Also got corrections from Rilendo (+5 BAB, MWK sword, +4 STR modifier for +4 damage, not +7)

Rapid Shot 2: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 2 = 14
He hits but once, striking the assaulting foe as he enters the south eastern most room of the first floor.
Damage, Rapid Shot #1: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Riken deals 11 damage to Guy L.

Now begins the second round of combat.

Gorgowzowa reaches down and picks up the battle axe, then uses the style of the scorpion and attempts to strike the man on the ground before him.

Scorpion Strike: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Gorgowzowa glares at the fool, takes a step , and says "You won't be needing this." He tosses the axe behind him.

Bah, I was just about to ask if baddies were still outside. Its cool, Thats totally what I would have done.

Seeing that some of the attackers are gaining entrance, Riken pulls a potion out of his pack and motions for Paka.

"I think you're really going to like this stuff," he says to the cat as he pours the potion down his throat.

As Paka swallows, sitting down on his haunches and licking his lips, Riken watches as his fangs grow long and sharp, his jaw muscles bulging.

"Now go. Our friends downstairs need you."

Paka feels his fangs grow, power surging through his jaw and neck. He does indeed like this feeling. At Riken's command he takes off to join the fight.

Gorgowzowa approaches the stunned target and attacks with his mist dismissive strike, casually taunting the target without actually causing harm. (He successfully stood up; the AoO was not trip, but instead stunning Fist, so he stood up and got no no prone penalty.)

After opening the door and seeing his fellow 'infantrymen' engage Rilendo, Guy F moves (to X-5) and attempts to jump up onto the desk in front of him to join into the fray.
Acrobatics up onto desk: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Surprisingly, the conscript is able to do so (landing on X-6, on top of the desk) and attacks Rilendo from higher ground. Higher ground is completely undefined in the CRB. Abstractly, I think 3 feet qualifies.

The following actions can be disrupted due to PC actions:

The third conscript surrounding Rilendo takes an attack against him as well.
Guy H's attack against Rilendo: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 2 = 15 (Unlikely, I think, to actually hit)
Damage, if hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

The fellow who could not open the northern door in the southeastern-most room moves to the other door and attempts to open it (moves to S-8 and opens the door; move, move).

The final conscript —who is engaging Gorgowzowa— shakes off the stunning effects that he was left with after the last blow laid upon him (he was stunned, thus unable to take any actions; -2 AC penalty wears off and DEX bonus restored).

Dark Archive

Male Human Sorcerer 2, Cleric 1

Riken (and thus Paka, since I forgot to roll initiative for Paka; I must remember to do so next encounter) acts after Guy H, so his attack is not disrupted by Paka.

Paka, moving swiftly, moves down the stairs and sees Rilendo being attacked. Having met Rilendo before, and having been fed once or twice by the scoundrel, the animal lunges with teeth bared at those attacking his master's companion. Paka has a move of 50 feet, so 10 squares. I can count a path from K-14 to X-9 of 9 squares. Stairs are longer than 5' due to altitude, so I'll count that as 10' (or is that map to be read as 3 squares for stairs? Either way, I'm saying 15' to move effectively 10'). This will be just enough to get into attacking position (leaving him at X-9), but he does not get the secondary attacks because it is not a full-round attack.

Paka bites at the conscript's ankle, pulling as he recovers from a glancing blow against Rilendo. As Paka yanks on the conscript's leg, his fangs pierce deep into the man's flesh. Despite the attempt to pull him to the ground, the conscript maintains his balance and shakes the cat's mouth off of his leg. Paka does 10 damage to Guy H.

My guy was prone, and I hit him with the stunning fist interrupting him standing up, so he should still be prone at the beginning of his turn. My scorpion was a natural miss, so ac shouldn't matter there. If he tries to stand up or move this round, I want the aoos as normal attacks, otherwise, if he doesn't stand up, I'm going for flurry.

Waiting on Dae-Lhach and Rilendo for their actions. I'll move on sometime late tonight (midnight?) with Rilendo attacking one of the fools around him, TWF. Maybe a heal check to see how they are doing to decide which. Dae-Lhach would, I think, come downstairs to see what he can do. Maybe drop the unused fire bolt?

Dark Archive

Male Human Sorcerer 2, Cleric 1

Gorgowzowa, the entry for Standing Up (Core Rulebook, page 187) does not indicate that getting hit when standing up knocks you back down keeping you prone. Besides that, nine times out of ten, I see when you play that your AoOs are taken as Trip attacks, so that when they do stand up, they just go back down. If you can cite a reference that says that he ges back to prone, I'll mark him as such. I see the argument about interruption in CRB, page 180, but that's another something we can discuss/research later. It's kind of moot since you're going to kill the guy anyway.

You've acted during this round, so I'll queue that Flurry of Blows up as your first move for the next move. The guy doesn't do anything this round, so no AoOs.

With a thrill of success, Dae-Lhach watches those who assailed the main entrance scurry back to lick their wounds. As the howls of pain recede, he hears the commotion below. They broke through!, he realizes. Moving to the stairs at G5, Dae-Lhach attempts to stealth down the stairs to get a better view of the situation.

If he is seen, he will fire his crossbow at the nearest and draw his scimitar. Remaining on the stairs for high ground. If he is not seen, he will stealth to flank, replacing his crossbow and drawing his scimitar.

Stunning Fist causes the target to be stunned and can't make any action. Since the AoO interrupts the action of standing, and he got hit with it, he couldn't then finish the stand move. The trip as AoO's was erroneous because the stand would happen after the trip, so it should have been moot. What I try now is more a ready action for a trip after the stand, so not AoO. Trading flurry for trip+stomp. If he just lays there, it's ok by me.

If he draws a weapon, I want to disarm as the first flurry, or second if first is a miss. If he didn't draw, just normal flurry. If he looks like I'm going to kill him, I use non-lethal (I'll use that if in doubt, tough.)

I'd like to hold my action to wait for him to comply. If not, non-lethal flurry. If yes, I'll pick them up. (Probably double move to pick the first two things up.) If he draws anything and attacks, and if I can AoO, I'll disarm. If I can't AoO, I'll take my turn after him and non-lethal flurry.

Gorgowzowa's rage has calmed as he peers down at the helpless coward. "Please, don't make this hard. Let this be a test I can pass. Let me send him away on a new path."

Sorry I didn't wrap up the round last night.

Rilendo, Paka didn't get the flank until after you act, so no attack bonus on that. Also, when you two-weapon fight, you take a -2/-2 penalty, minimum, on your attacks for the round. Also, what are your damage + 1 bonuses from? Flanking gives +2 to attack, nothing to damage. Are you trying to Power Attack as well?

Rilendo swings twice against the attacker behind him, swinging his sword followed by his shield, with only the first blow landing against his opponent whom is flanking him from behind. Rilendo does 9 damage to Guy H (what are those extra +1s?).

Dae-Lhach, the stairs at G-5 have been blocked. You could go down the trapdoor, however. Doing so would leave you at S-6 with no further actions (move to area, open door + drop down).

The following actions can be disrupted due to PC actions:

Rilendo acts.

The flanker being flanked makes a desperate attack against the fighter being swarmed by assaulting conscripts.+
Guy H's attack against Rilendo: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 = 24 (+2 flanking bonus)
Guy H's possible damage against Rilendo: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Riken acts.

Paka acts.

The conscript who entered to the southeast room with the meeting table does not see Dae-Lhach as he runs past him to the combat he hears in the Great Hall. As the conscript runs past him. Dae-Lhach takes the opportunity to attack the fool. I'm just going to assume Dae-Lhach takes the attack and use his scimitar + sneak attack rolls from earlier. His holy blade of Sarenrae lands as the conscript moves past, slicing him in the side, wounding the fellow for his carelessness. Dae-Lhach inflicts 8 damage to Guy F.

Suddenly noticing that an opponent is engaging him, the conscript attacks:
Guy L's attack on Dae-Lhach: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Guy L's possible damage on Dae-Lhach: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Gorgowzowa tole me to go ahead and roll AoOs for him. While nothing definitive was found in research, it looks like the Stunning Fist AoO hits before the move. Jason Bulmahn is the closest we can find on the matter, and as a designer, I'll take his word that it happens before the action resolves.
Recovered from the stunning blow, the conscript at Gorgowzowa's feet stands up. Gorgowzowa takes the opening to attack.
Gorgowzowa's stand up AoO: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 4 = 16
Gorgowzowa's stand up damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Gorgowzowa hits as the conscript stands. The conscript then attempts to retreat a bit out of the window. (He can't withdraw, since that is a full-round action.)
Guy G's Acrobatics to hop out the window during move: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Gorgowzowa takes the chance to attack once more:
Gorgowzowa's move away AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Dae-Lhach acts.

Guy L is at T-6. The rest looks correct. Having an updating visual display is problematic because there is initiative, the bad guys don't go at the same time, so I can't really say that something has happened until the end of a round.

Please keep this sort of discussion in the appropriately titled "Discussion" thread ;)

I'm calling the end of the round.

I assume that Rilendo continues TWF, against guy H.
TWF attack Guy H, longsword: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 - 2 = 22 (Standard - TWF penalty)
Longsword damage vs. Guy H: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Rilendo's first opponent falls at his expert blow.

Guy H went down, so actions pertaining to him are negated, and will be assigned to adjacent baddies. Guy H's turn is negated.

Guy H's stabalize: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 (fail)

Riken secures the manor entrance from the lighthouse.

Paka moves forward and jumps up on the desk (to X-7) to engage the daring conscript surrounding Rilendo.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18 (lol, auto-success)
Paka lunges upward and bites at the attacker as Paka lands upon the desk.
Paka does 6 damage to the conscript Guy F. The bite is released with a jolt, which trips Rilendo's attacker.

Getting close to time I can't edit, so I need to continue finishing out the round; will move onto next post.

Continuing the finishing out of the round

It's a bit hard to say what Gorgowzowa would do, since his action is invalidated. Maybe jump up on the desk, move to flank Guy J?
Gorgowzowa, seeing that his intended target has fallen (as well as his backup) decides that the sole standing conscript in the room is the greatest threat. He moves forward and jumps on the desk, moving past Paka and through the prone attacker.
Acrobatics, jump up: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Acrobatics, avoid AoO from Guy J: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 (provokes, damn)
Acrobatics, move through X-6: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

The last standing enemy in the Great Hall (standing, not negative HP; Guy F is just prone) takes his opportunity to attack:
Guy J's AoO vs. Gorgowzowa: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 (hit)
Guy J's damage to Gorgowzowa: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Gorgowzowa finishes the move (and lands at X-5; not enough move to flank Guy J but flanks Guy F) and performs the disarm against the standing conscript opponent.
The disarm is successful.

Dae-Lhach continues the attack against his opponent (who is at T-6)
Dae-Lhach's attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Dae-Lhach's damage to Guy L: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
His hit lands solidly.

The disarmed conscript withdraws from the fray (not withdraw, just move), provoking attacks from Rilendo and Gorgowzowa:
Rilendo's AoO (longsword): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 Critical?
Rilendo's AoO confirmation: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 Confirmed!

Rilendo's AoO damage (critical): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Gorgowzowa's AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 (miss)
Rilendo dealt at total of 18 damage to the conscript!

The conscript, taking a deep cut to his shoulder, pulls out a bow as he moves away from combat (to V-2). He fires, at Rilendo:
Conscript's bow attack against Rilendo: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 4 = 2 (critical miss)

The following actions can be disrupted due to PC actions:

Rilendo acts

The downed opponent attempts to stabalize his condition:
Guy H's stabalize: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 (nope!)

Riken acts

Paka acts

The conscript engaging Dae-Lhach continues to attack:
Guy L vs. Dae-Lhach with Battleaxe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Guy L vs. Dae-Lhach damage if hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

The conscript who retreated moves back into the manor (to square V-12, again) with his shortbow. He attacks Rilendo [occ](mwahahahaha)[/ooc]:
Guy G vs. Rilendo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Guy G vs. Rilendo damage if hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Gorgowzowa acts

Dae-Lhach acts

This is Mrs. Bardez, seeing as how this is my last night of summer vacation I regret to inform you guys that I will be taking my husband back now. Good evening.

Back to Mr. Bardez: I will resolve the round tomorrow, mid-morning.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Fighter / 5

Rilendo TWF attacks Guy F(X6).

Longsword
Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 2 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Shield Spike
Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 10 - 2 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Male Human Sorcerer 2, Cleric 1

Rilendo hits his target squarely with his longsword (9 damage to Guy F).

The fallen opponent (Guy H) fails to stabilize his bleeding.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Elf (Lvl 5) Cleric - 4/Rogue - 1

Dae-Lhach takes the strike from the battle-axe on his shield, barely avoiding damage. He returns the blow with his scimitar:

attack guy L: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
damage guy L: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

OK, calling in the end of round since I believe Riken's player is out of town, traveling (not due to GenCon).

Riken, hearing the commotion downstairs, heads to join the fight (move to X-12) He sees a few opponents standing, but does not have a clear shot (would take the soft cover +4 AC and firing into melee -4 penalties). He moves further in (to W-9; second move action) and stops when he sees the conscript outside the window (Guy G) with his bow at the ready.

Paka bites at the conscript still up on the desk:
Paka vs. Guy F: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 1 + 2 = 17 (+2 flanking bonus; +1 magic fang)
Paka's damage to Guy F: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5 (+1 from magic fang)
Paka then moves (to W-3) to engage the withdrawing bowman.

The conscript falls back down to the desk, helpless (he is at negative HP).

Dae-Lhach's opponent attacks and misses.

The conscript at the window enters (to square V-12), again.
Caltrop attack vs. conscript: 1d20 ⇒ 16 (he stubs his feet again, lol)
Seeing Riken as the first target, attacks (I'll use the previous rolls to assess a hit)

Guy G vs. Rilendo damage if hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

The conscript hits the ranger (AC 19, I believe; 5 damage).

Based on Gorgowzowa's previous statements, he will go for non-lethal damage. Gorgowzowa pursues previously conscript (Guy J) and moves (to V-3) to trip:
Gorgowzowa's trip vs. Guy J: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 (miss)

Dae-Lhach continues to engage his opponent, slicing with a less effective blow that his last (only 2 damage to Guy L this time).

Fourth Combat Round:

Initiative & Positions:
Guy F: (X-6) (down, not stabilized)
Guy J: (V-2)
Rilendo: (W-7)
Guy H: (W-8) (down, not stabilized)
Riken: (W-9)
Paka: (W-3)
Guy L: (T-6)
Guy G: (V-12)
Gorgowzowa: (V-3)
Dae-Lhach: (S-6)

The conscript on the desk attempts to stabilize his condition:
Guy F's stabilize: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 (succeeded)

The bowed conscript to the east (Guy J) takes a step back (5-foot step to V-1) and attacks Gorgowzowa:
Guy J vs. Gorgowzowa: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 (miss)

I'm headed to lunch. I'll post tentative actions later.

Lantern Lodge

Male Orc/Human Monk/5

Gorgowzowa chases down his attacker, sweeps him, and tosses an elbow up into the falling fool on his way around.

Charge to V-3 and Trip
Charging Trip: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27
Stomp: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Liberty's Edge

Male Human, Ranger/5 Riken HP: 42/42; Paka HP: 32/32

I don't leave till 3. Can i ret-con one thing you posted for me? Expecting a closer quarters fight downstairs, Riken used the first move action the previous round to put away the bow. He'd have drawn the axe as he was coming down the stairs. This shouldn't change anything since he didn't attack.

Some hopefully helpful scripting for gm control:
Riken is more capable with his axe and will use it over his bow. He'll of course try to set up a Cleave. He has a decent Acrobatics check, he'd take a reasonable risk to Acro through spaces to set up the cleave. Power Attack Goes without saying, unless he's rolling high and still not hitting. He has a Wand of CL in his Spring-loaded Wrist Sheath, he'll definitely be using that if he needs to. Free action to pull out, Full-Round to put back. Because of the full round to put back he tends to wait as long as he can to use it and then use it for a few rounds if he has to.

Yup, I missed that. Axe is drawn. I expect Guy G to get axed (pun so very intended) in short matter.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human, Ranger/5 Riken HP: 42/42; Paka HP: 32/32

Riken engages his attacker with axe raised high.

Move to V11

Attack with Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 2 = 15
Damage: 1d12 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 4 = 17

Lantern Lodge

Male Orc/Human Monk/5

I missed the move. I'll just do what I had for the last round this round, but with a 5' step and flurry, non-lethal.

Second Flurry: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
