The king is dead! In the Varisian port city of Korvosa, the death of a monarch leads to chaos, and only a small group of heroes can hope to save the city from its own darkest tendencies.

Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.
Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception
Sense Motive.
if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.
Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.
Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...
Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it! The most importat part is: You are villains. Villains are smart, resourceful and have style! Have you ever seen a memorable villain that could just swing his sword and do nothing more?
Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).
Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."
For now they are content to tail you and their numbers seem to be growing you guess they number between a dozen or twenty now. Up ahead you see what must be were they plan to attack. The road leads right into a crevasse with cliffs on each sides of the road. A perfect place for an ambush.
Corso looks to the others: "Now, I don't know you guys too much, but if we take the ones following us first, who is going to lead? Drakus? Yes, then it is settled. I'll follow your lead!"

Crain rolls his eyes. "Oh yeah, he's quite a leader," he scoffs. The half elf clearly considered himself the leader, despite what all the others obviously felt.

"Aye, let's get on it then," Donagar agrees, more annoyed that they're being made to stop their travel than concerned about the danger itself. "Damn fool thieves..."
Here is the terrain as it is. With mercenaries on boths sides of the road front and back. Behind you is a more open area however. If you go back you have an open field.

Does that mean they're up on the cliffs to either side and not in front of us? If so, does that mean we have to climb up or use missile weapons to get at them?
Sorry, it's my fault. I was trying to get things moving, but misunderstood where we were.
"Well, looks like there's little in the way of obstacles here, but I want to stay as far from those cliffs as possible. So let's cut down whoever is behind us first, then let's cut down whoever is in front of us. Simple enough! Now Mai, I suggest you go and make trouble for them. This little incantation may help..." Corso says as he weaves the air around him and shifts reality around Mai. As he lifts his hand, her image disappears as if wiped away.
Cast Greater invisibility on Mai, 11 rounds.
That done, Corso starts to head back down the way they came, looking for the brigands, but follows the tree line, using it as a form of cover.
When it becomes clear you are not going to continue forward a group of mercenaries come out to attack you.
A group of them with shield and spears come down towards you advancing slowly until they get to a hundred feet from you and several with crossbows take up positions behind them and get ready to fire.
Twelves men in total six guys with shields (@100 feet) and six using crossbows (@120 feet)

Drakus takes his place beside Crain and Donagar. When everyone is ready, he faces his shield, readies his bardiche and starts marching towards the enemy 100 feet ahead, keeping in step with each other to keep the shield wall.
Readies Missile Shield. Blocks missile.
Readies Shield Ally. Shield Ally (Partial cover +2 AC, +1 Ref)
Reamining invisible, Corso circles the line to get behind the crossbowmen. As his colleagues seem to have no issues with the bolts, he prefers to just wait for them.
He studies the crossbowmen up close to determine who the leader is.

Donagar grins as the swarm of attacking warriors surround him before deftly blocking three of the strikes with his shield and then spinning to block the last with the shank of his hammer.
"Not today, and damned well not tomorrow either, ya fools!" he shouts.
Then, holding his shield up, Donagar releases the magic in his glowglyph with a blinding flash of bright light and sparks, oddly reminiscent of a hammer pounding at a forge.
DC 14 Reflex, or they're blinded for 1d4 rounds. Holding my move action based on the result 1d4 ⇒ 2
Broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years and pathfinder hasn't really been on my mind. I kinda lost track of everything going on here so I built this map real quick (I know distance is off on the map but lets go with this) and let me know if I got anything else wrong I will be checking in daily now
Can Donagar hit all of them? Just in case. So you got one anyway.
reflex vs blind:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 reflex vs blind:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 reflex vs blind:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 reflex vs blind:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 reflex vs blind:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Assuming Mai attack an archer? Seems to make sense. He's hurt but not down.
Crain would be able to charge and attack feel free to roll and attack for last round.
ok so the spearmen attack Crain and donagar. One is blind and just takes a defensive stance. (the one at the top-left next to donagar is blinded)
Corso gets close enough to to hear the trio talking. Seeing now that they are three women. Two of them are wearing red manthis amour while the other is a half-orc wearing pelts. A tracker it seems.
"Do you think the sellswords will win?" says the one wearing her helmet.
probably not while the soldiers of the brotherhood are good I heard this group are quite skilled in battle and even managed to kill several of our elites." replies the beautiful redhead who has her helmet under her arm.
"Should we not help then?" says the half-orc woman.
"In due time my dear let them tire themselves out first" replies the redhead.

Seeing Donagar and Crain already engaged, Drakus cursed, lowered his bardiche and charged up next to them.
bardiche charge power attack vs one of the spearmen:1d20 + 15 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (15) + 15 + 2 - 3 = 29 for a possible 1d10 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 6 = 14 piercing, silver and magic damage.
@corso The red manthis have been hunting the group and trying to kill them for weeks they were hired to do by the queen because they have been hindering her plans. Something they probably told you about by now. This is a new group of assassins since the group killed the last group that tried to ambush them. The red manthis however have a policy that once they accept a contract they do not rest until it has been completed.

"You'll need ta try harder than that!" Donagar laughs at the men as he takes a pair of blows on his shield, non-plussed.
With his hammer in his hand, Donagar assumes a defensive posture, yet still finds a moment or two to strike out at the sighted mercenary, trying to draw their attention so the others could strike.
"Hit me, I dare ya!" he taunts.
Moving my +1 weapon enhancement to my AC with the 'Defending' property on my hammer, and fighting defensively. AC is 29. Fight Defensively Atk 1:1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 4 = 14 Fight Defensively Atk 2:1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 4 = 17
Ok, thanks. Corso is still curious to see what they might reveal next, but this round he’ll take a potion of Long Arm, as it is easier to do so while remaining quiet.
The soldiers with shields have ac 23 and the archers have ac 20. So far crain and drakus each hit a solder for 14 and Mai hit an archer for 32. They each have between 40 and 50 hp.
Why did mai get a sneak attack there did you use ghoststep? Are you visible now? I am assuming she is not invisible anymore.
The blind soldier maintains his defensive posture.
Ok so Crain and Cassiel Are just now joining the group.
You were there for a lot of these events and are at least aware that all this happened but you have been working different jobs than the main group so far and Kressida is adding you to her specials forces task squad now.

Sounds good.
DM, I assume with the 9k starting funds, we can spend more than 1/4 on any one item? A magic weapon will be more than that, so just wanted to be sure that was fine.

For the new GM and other 2 players.
Gregor has a +23 to pass as Human, and 'inadvertantly' takes 10 every day on his disguise. In his backstory, and part of his personality is that he doesn't know he's Half-elven. He's also a bit fantasy racist, hating half-breeds more than the full-breed nonhumans, but generally disliking them all. He's made more than a few negative somments toward Pai and Donager.
Also, for the GM:
He's been building a rapport with the Pseudo-dragon, (or I've been trying to, that is) as I intend on taking the feats which will allow me to have a Pseudo-dragon familiar (Eldritch heritage; arcane bloodline, and improved familiar). As one of the symbols of the city (the other being I think imp or quasit), he sees it as a symbol of the people of Korvosa, and a noble creature.

As for Mai, Her disguise skill is at +22 (+2 vs Males) to look human and also takes 10 each day.
As her long hair hides her ears, or when she uses a kerchief to hide her ears.
Though I think Gregor sees Mai more as a Quarter Elf,
and Mai knows Gregor is a Half-elf. (She just does not mention it).
Mai's adoptive family owns and runs the tavern, The Dragon's Horde.
And Hitting on Mai requires care, just ask a customer of the Dragon's Horde.

Nice
When your in Germany you should try the various European black licorice droppies, it's better than most american made droppies.
Though I'll advise you, that some are quite salty.
If it's Diamond shaped or has the word "Zoute" in it's name, it likely salty.
If it has DZ on it, it's Double Zoute, and is very salty.
A number of folks can take that level of salt, but not all can and there exists triple Zoute which I would not recommend trying unless you really like salt.
That and European Gouda cheese is awesome tasting.

Trying to think of something to do in Germany, but I was stationed there, so most of my experiences were under less than ideal conditions.
I will say, though, the drivers there are generally much better than anywhere I've ever been, and that's on highways without speed limits. In fact, I once did a speech for my speech class about how U.S. should adopt the more stringent rules for getting your license like Germany (including a comparison of how Germany has like 1/5th the traffic accidents per capita).

Yeah living in Hamburg is gonna be a bit crazy for me. I come from a village of 2000 people the biggest city around here is moncton and it has 100 000 people. It doesn't even have public transit. Hamburg has like 2 million people...I'm not gonna drive there, driving in moncton makes me a little nervous lol.

I don't think you did. I was digging for information from her, and even looked back at everything she said to us so I could try to use it when I spoke to her. I just did a search of the thread, and the only instance was when you said it just now.
I also came in at the end of the first book, so the name has no bearing for me either.

Donagar has been pushing to turn her over to the authorities and let her be locked up and the key lost. He decided that it is pointless to question her.........
