While Sarephta and Tusk are standing guard over their sleeping friends, Sarephta and Tusk hears the baying of wolves in the distance. Over time, the wolves howles get closer and closer, but Tusk does not here them as they get close to the camp. Sarephta notices when the wolves pad with in 40 feet of the camp.

Sarephta braces her longspear against the incoming wolves, but the swiftness of their attack leaves her off-balance.
Surprise round will brace the longspear against incoming wolves, but it misses. The wolf also has to pass through a threatened area because I have a reach weapon. I'm assuming I get an AoO, which I'll also roll.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 for damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 for damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 another miss.
I'm guessing I'm also prone, then? The wolf hit me.
"Aagh!" Sarephta yells as the wolf pulls her to the ground.
Dropping her spear, she manages to draw her longsword and attack the beast.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

good, my flatfooted is 13, so miss the wolf grabs onto my armor but realizes it is too hard to bite into and lets go. sorry, sometimes I just like to add roleplay to combat.
will wait to see what the wolf does on his round 1 since he is before me before I post my actions, who knows, there is that chance he crits and takes me down in one go

Sarephta deeply cuts the wolf as ht lets out a yelp. It's not down, but it won't stand much more punishment like that.
Tusk add all the roleplaying you want. I'm down with PC narration!

It does, and Gorwyn wakes up. Looking around and seeing that they're beset by wolves, Gorwyn quickly realizes that Conflaviel is not present, and that he doesn't have time to summon his eidolon.
So, instead, the summoner summons something else....
Summoning a Celestial Eagle, which is a standard action. It will hang around for 1 minute. He will summon it in a position where it can make a full attack against one of the wolves after taking a 5-foot "flutter" (i.e. the 5-foot step equivalent while flying, which creatures with a Fly speed can do)

Sorry, I think I had acted
Garret cast grease to trip the wolf, DC 17 and stands up.

Gorwyn
|
I'm sorry, I'm confused. I thought that summoning the eagle was Gorwyn's action for this turn. Are you waiting for another action from him? GM, one thing I've found helps in other games is that if in a post when you advance the action, re-list the initiative order indicating where in the order we are, so those who are coming up can see who they are.
fine_young_misanthrope
|
Fair enough. I'll post what you've done from now on as we now post out of order a bit to keep things moving swiftly. I thought the summoning was last turn.
Under the combined assault of both Tusk and El Liberto, the wolf falls from an ax in its back and the acid dissolving it from the inside out.
Aside from the bubbling and hissing of the wolf, the woods becomes quite....The rest of the night passes uneventfully.
You may heal up as you wish with either spells, potions, naturally, or some other magic
What would you like to do now?
Tusk Aran

Well the rest would give me 1 HP back, but I ask the cleric nicely if she has a healing spell still up especially since she'll recharge them in the morning.
Maldrek "el liberto"
|
I´ll be more excited if I haven´t been bitten and thrown to the ground. But I agree we need a good rest, at least I need it. And some healing if you don´t mind, Sarephta
Sarephta Nigh

Before going back to sleep for the night, Sarephta kindly administers to the relief of her companions, converting her prepared spells for healing spells until they are all healed in full.

CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 That should cover everyone.
Once morning comes, the cleric us up early and seems eager to break camp, despite the poor rest the group had during the night.
"Let's keep moving!" she says encouragingly.

After healing up, eating a wonderful breakfast of rations and preparing for the day, you head out. It's another cold morning. The trip is uneventful as you walk further south. The trees begin to thin abruptly, revealing a field of short, green grass that leads to the shores of a wide, calm lake reflecting the overcast sky above. A dense fog hangs over the center of the lake, obscuring the far side. Near the shore of the lake, a dark form lies next to the water.
Tusk Aran

I will examine the lake and the dark form and take my time if necessary and assuming I can. take 20 on perception for a 26 and I have darkvision
Maldrek "el liberto"

Seeing how the party is taking time to identify the dark form, Maldrek do as much as he can to identify it.
If I can help Tusk with smart and useful tips about what I see I´ll do that, if not take 20 for a 27 if it makes any difference.
Sarephta Nigh

"I don't like the look of this," Sarephta says as they approach the dark figure. "Let us be vigilant," she adds as she adjusts her grip on her longspear.

You carefully make you way toward the body. Looking from a safe distance, you see it is a man who has died a longer time ago. He has putrefied indicating he has been here for some time, but the wound that killed him is a large bit to his side. You see nothing moving in the water. However, as you stare at the scene, you eventually see his weapon, a masterwork short sword, and his coin purse are just below the waterline in the mud.
Also as you look, you see a trail that leads to the west leading to the body.
Sarephta Nigh

Sarephta investigates the body for any additional clues, a frown on her celestial face.
"This is disturbing," she murmurs.

Gorwyn- the coin purse contains 87 coins minted in a foreign land knowledge check to determine where. The masterwork short sword is well crafted and rust free even after its time in the water.
Sarephta-the man was bitten by a large sea serpent. The wound looks like it was a single strike with no tearing you see if the creature was eating him for food.
After the examination, you follow the trail for about a mile. Eventually you find a long abandon camp site. It's quite here with only the ambient sound of the cold forest as your company.

El Liberto-The coins look newly minted from the capital city of Tamran; they bear the likeness of Forest Marshal Gavirk, nominal leader of Nirmathas.
El Liberto- You also see the camp has been long abandoned. It has no coals, and the grasses have started to encroach on the center of the camp. Any food you can smell is long since rotted. You also see grass and other plants springing up among the few tents here.
Tusk-You don't see much more of a trail besides the simple on the bandit made to and from the bank of the lake. Simply following the trail is going to be difficult at this point.
