Volreg Sundek
Sorry, had a family emergency involving the rain in the area. I'm back now!
Kicking a piece of debris with his foot, Volreg crackles as it floats up with a purple aura and flies towards the creature grabbing his new friends!

Seara kicks clear of the tentacles, aided by Voclo. Then Undy steps in and strikes the beaked monster, followed by Tyrithe's arrow and Narcizia's flying dagger. That deals the death blow! The tentacles cease their writhing and silence falls in the hallway.
END COMBAT
Seara Glak
Seara kicks the thing again after they have waited to see if it is baiting them.
"it almost had me, it almost ATE ME!"
Seara takes a deep breath, "To the library?"
Volco Sissorba
"Wait, wait, I want samples."
Fishing two flasks from his pocket, Volco picks up blood and flesh samples from the slain horror, keeping an eye out for any valuable items near it.
"No need to let it go to waste. At least now it may be useful. So, is the chapel this way?"
Tyrithe the Dreamer
"A chance to rest would be welcome," Tyrithe ventures, checking his target for any arrows that might still be usable. I am not certain that there is safety to be found anywhere in this place...those things in the mist, we may not even be on Golarion anymore.
Turning to their guide, "I know that words are insufficient, but I'm sorry for what happened to your friend. The sooner we reach this chapel, I think, the better."
Narcizia Nastase
Narcizia casually walks up to the tentacles and sees if her dagger is salvageable. She takes a long look at creature and whistles when Volco starts collecting his samples.
"What kinds of things can you do with those samples, doctor?", she asks, curious. "I agree, don't want to lose a dream-friend before we barely got to know each other.", she taps Seara on the shoulder.
Seara Glak
Seara turns at the tap, face hard but smiles a little. She nods at Narcizia getting in line behind Adria, sword drawn and in hand.
Volco Sissorba
"Oh, I don't know what could be done. Possibly I'll find out what turned him into that thing. Or a cure. Or something unstable and explosive. Since it was apparently in an intermediate state between nigredo and rubedo, it could have volatile and corruptive properties, provided the principles didn't fragment. But I'd need to test it on something living to be sure."

Normally you would view her words as ramblings of in insane girl. You wonder what it means about your own sanity since you understand her ramblings perfectly!
Eventually you come to a door leading to a square courtyard, surrounded on all sides by the hospital.
-a garden
-Yellow mist
-A small, free standing chapel building, in the center of the courtyard, built in the Pharasmic style.
Tyrithe the Dreamer
Tyrithe, no stranger to weird quirks, makes conversation as best he can in Adria's more lucid moments, and even gamely pretends to look about admiringly at the "cats". At the sight of the courtyard--and the mist inside it--his misgivings about what safety might be found here come rushing back.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
"They don't wander, Master Dwarf, they hide., and I can't say I blame them. It might be a good idea if one of us possessed of a silver tongue went forward. We are a large and well-armed group and I wouldn't wish to alarm them."
Volco Sissorba
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
"No, nope, no way. Not only don't I have any silvertongue on me, but there's mist everywhere. Isn't there some other way?"
It appears that Volco is speaking of the silvertongue drug, and he seems to be acquainted with it.
Tyrithe the Dreamer
Tyrithe nods slowly, "I share your trepidation about the mist, but one of them might be able to tell us what in creation is going on here. Or warn us what else might lurk in this benighted halls. Adria, would it be possible for us to talk to your friends without going into the mist? It frankly frightens me."
Cosmic Nightmare
|
haha, nasty dilemaa: run toward the armed bowmen in order to minimize mist exposure? Or walk in order to avoid getting shot by nervous guards! They don't call me COSMIC HORROR for nothing!
Seara Glak
"Let me go first with Adria and see if the guards will not attack her and allow us to pass once she has told them who we are?"
Death by strange yellow mist or by arrows
Seara Glak
Seara moves towards the door, opening it and stepping out in front of Adria.
Need a new map, Seara will move blocking Adria just enough to provide cover for her.
"Call your friends, so they don't fill us full of arrows"
Volreg Sundek
"Yellow, yellow mist is bad. Don't want to scare people either. Maybe letting them know we are friendly will help?" suggests Volreg as he takes a few scraps of debris, and puts them in his pocket.

Seara and Adria open the door and step out into the yellow mist. The men in the bushes draw their bows. Then one recognizes Adria...
Cosmic Nightmare

But it's too late. Off to the left, up in the fog about 30 ft, is a "groaning" sound, like a mighty tree being bent in the wind. And in the yellow fog, a massive shape begins to emerge...
Seara Glak
Seara will put herself between Adria and the Mist, "Run girl, get to safety."
"Maybe this is all a nightmare, maybe this will end. I keep pinching myself but I don't awake."
Tyrithe the Dreamer
"We should make for the hospital, this thing could trap us in the chapel!"
As he speaks, Tyrithe advances to the doorway, nocking an arrow and training it on the massive shape in the swirling mist. As he lets the arrow fly he hisses to Seara, "Swordswoman! I'll try to cover you, fall back to us!"
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
I didn't apply Point Blank Shot, if it's close enough to matter then +1 attack & damage, otherwise feel free to ignore
Narcizia Nastase
"In that we agree!", Narcizia also draws a knife and throws it at the shape inside the mist, trying to cover Seara.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Seara Glak
Once Adria has made it over half way Seara will retreat with her fellow lock ups back into the hospital.
A beast in the fog, a beast in the rocks, what is next a beast in my head? There is already one there."

You all high-tale it back into the hospital, slamming the door behind you. Just in time too, for a moment later, a giant grey "leg" appears overhead, and begins descending out of the mist. It lands in the courtyard, lingers a moment, then lifts again, disappearing into the fog. It leaves a crater sized footprint, at least 15ft wide, and as the creature moves away it can be heard making strange noises... Aloooo! Alooooooo! bonus points if you get the literary ref;)
This call is answered by similar calls from farther out in the abyss of yellow fog.
The two men in the bushes are now motioning for you to hurry across the courtyard and enter the chapel...
Cosmic Nightmare

What does the footprint look like?
Great question! In the dark yellow mist, the foot looked like this. 15ft in diameter. A giant being.
I'll get a post together for what you find in the chapel. I just gotta check the AP so it will take me some time.

You are led into the chapel, through it's oaken double doors. Welcome to...
The Refuge of Dreamers
Looking around the chapel you see about 20 people, mostly hospital patients, and a few chapel guards. All of them refugees of the horrors. There is a lightly armored man with a Mace strapped to his hip. Adria says...
