Gazerich Knall |

Smiling from Jack's compliments Gazerich looks at Sizerox and says I have a good hunting spear I use myself. I trust you two so I will let you use it on this patrol. He hands you a MW Boar Spear.
Is it just to be you two on this patrol? I will stop posting until tonight to give the others a chance, then I will hand out the patrol details.

Sizerox |

Hot damn, materworked :D
Sizerox accepts the spear, grasping it in both hands and testing the feel of it. After a few practice stabs he looks back at Gazerich.
An impressive bit of craftsmanship I must say. And it is yours personally? You honor me with the responsibility.
He placed the bastard sword back on the counter as he spoke, touching a clenched fist to his heart as he spoke of honor. He didnt have much understanding of why he said and did what he did, but it felt right.
I shall endeavour to see it safely returned to you
Thinking for a moment he added
I hate to ask after such a mighty offering, but could I maybe ask for a throwing weapon, a few javelins perhaps?

Gregory Leichardt |

Gregory steps forward.
"I'll be joining them, too. I don't suppose you have any detritus from destroyed machines laying around...? I also would not mind a rapier, and a longbow, if you happen to have any spare..."
What exactly do I require to power my machinesmith abilities? I know it runs off my mobius energy, but I presume I need some 'technological stuff' (tm) as well?

Gazerich Knall |

I can only give out one weapon per person I am sorry, we have little to spare. We had hoped Sheena would be brining in some weapons from that ship she shot down, but I guess there where none.
Gazerich looks at Je'grik and says If you go on patrol you may have a piece of armor, do you need a weapon?
As Gregory steps forward Gazerich's demeanor changes sharply WHAT DO YOU WANT? I DO NOT OUTFIT ABOMINATIONS! YOU HAVE NO LIFE TO SPEAK OF WORTH SAVING! I will double check on the abilities for you Gregory and post them again, I do not remember off hand.

Gregory Leichardt |

I'll take that as a no ;-)
Gregroy takes a deep breath, and flinches as if slapped.
"For the last 35 years, I have known nothing except pain, hopelessness, and loneliness at the hands of organics such as yourself. I may be different, but I eat, breath, sleep, bleed, and toil, just like any other creature. I am alive, much more so than those things of gears and metal which the League uses."
He then sighs.
"Sheena was the first to show me any true kindness. I despise the League, and would like to see them, and their masters, brought down. You may not like me, or trust me, but the same holds true for me regarding you - yet I still manage to keep myself in check, and willingly give myself to work towards a common goal - respect is earned, not simply given."

Finder of Stones |

A patrol comes back and overhears Gazerich's outburst. Another Half-orc steps in and grabs Gazerich for a talk behind the makeshift quartermaster station. A Shoanti man turns and speaks with the party Please forgive Gazerich my friends, I am Finder of Stones of the Spire Clan. Gazerich's family was harvested by the Androids of Torch. I will take you on your patrol and let him cool down. I could use the exercise. Follow me. He turns back the way he came down a moss covered pathway.

Gregory Leichardt |

Gregory nods.
"I understand that many of lost a great deal over the years. Thank-you for stepping in and helping to calm things down."
He then follows along behind the man.

Finder of Stones |

Oh ya I forgot to mention you can make your paper cartridges
Yes, the pathways are full of curious creatures seeking the underground's new residents. We try to maintain the patrols, but our numbers lessen every day. Finder of Stones answers Sizerox's question as he walks with the group.

Finder of Stones |

Assuming you all follow Finder of Stones,
The path covered in moss in this giant underground city starts to narrow as it winds into an enclosed section of a cave that is 20' by 30'. We have to constantly patrol this cave for vermin, and worse. He says and casts a light spell on the spear he carries.
The area illuminates and reveals ancient writings and paintings from a time long forgotten.

Sizerox |

With an eagerness he was still struggling to come to terms with, Sizerox moved to the front of the Group, spear held at the ready. His posture was slightly hunched, legs bent as if ready to leap.
You nervous Gregory? He asked with the slightest hint of a smile.
Its alright, do not lament such emotions. They make you more man than machine, more friend than enemy.
Flashing a fullblown toothy grin he adds:
If you prove useful in a scrap you might make a friend yet!
A random sound from the darkness, a bat squeaking or a pebble falling, turns his attention back towards the front.

Round 1 will have same initative, only add Finder of Stone at end with 8
*** Since you want me to roll your initatives ect, Please add them in your profile under your basic information so I can see them without having to access each profile individually. Look at Finder of Stone for an example of how to do this.***

Sizerox |

Heres my action once my turn arrives.
With a blood curdling roar, Sizerox threw himself at the creature attacking Finder, adrenalin rushing through his body in seconds. He had been worried how he might react to combat, but in this moment there was no concern, no fear...only blood.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 - 1 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Well, im off to an excellent start.
Since I havnt tried a game with Hero Points before, and im likely to forget to use em, im gonna blow mine now for an xtra standard action to attack again. Wanna start strong!
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 1 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Ouch a 15 to hit, might be close :O

"Basilisk" Jack Bumpo |

Seeing that battle has been fully started, Jack looks for what to appears to be a leader or spell caster. Taking aim he fires and reloads another cartridge.
Fire and move to reload, +1 to hit and dmg if inside 30' 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 dmg 1d12 ⇒ 4

Je'grik |

Je'grick's skin crawls as he mentally collects energy and throws it at the nearest Skulk.
Move Action: Activate empowered strikes. Stadard Action: Use psychokinetic discharge for a ranged attack, 10ft range with 10 range increments.
Psycokinetic Discharge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

I forgot to point out that typically in a surprise round you are allowed 1 action, not a move and an action. I will be sure to add that caveat to future surprise rounds
With two of them dead and two wounded before even getting an attack off the remaining enemies attempt to flee. Finder of Stones casts a spell

Jack-18
Je'Grik-17
Enemies-16 Currently making a withdrawal action and 60' down the pathway, there seems to be 3 left and one held by Finder of Stones.
Finder of Stones-8

Sizerox |

Getting my action for the next round out of the way now.
Continuing to bellow like a beast, Sizerox lay about himself with the spear, attempting to reach Finder.
Moving to attack another enemy, while trying to get closer to Finder without provoking attacks,
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 1 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
4/6 Rounds of Rage left, effective AC is 12 against any enemies attacking him before he takes his actions (Rage and Charge penalty from his previous action).
Sorry to spell it out like that but little details like that sometimes get lost in PbP combat, causing alot of retconning. I realize that me taking my second turn before you have acted with the monsters might itself cause retconning, but im only doing it in this case because the only thing that would really stop Sizerox from choosing that action would be if hes unconcious on the ground :)
EDIT: So we posted at more or less the same time. As a player im left wondering if Finder wants to capture the one held by his spell, however given Sizeroxs current....condition, im afraid the above attack will get directed at the held enemy.

Sizerox |

Putting this in a new post, since the Edit to my actions is influenced by Jacks words.
Hearing Jacks stern voice, almost commandingly telling them not to kill the enemy in front of him, Sizerox instead proceeded to headbutt the creature square in the face.
Unarmed strike, dealing non-lethal damage. Gonna roll a new attack roll in case you wont simply use the previous one. Just gonna eat the AOO I provoke.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 1 = 8
Damage: 1d3 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Finder of Stones |

Sizerox's Spear plunges into the standing humanoid, hearing Jack's warning too late, or too enraged to care, the wound he inflicts is beyond mortal. Well that was our opportunity to find their lair, we will never catch up to them in time and they are too good at hiding. Finder says plainly. Those Skulks normally do not attack so close to base, they must be desperate. If they had any sense they would join us, but they are too keen on attempting to rob and assault us. The good news is they are generally well equipped. He points to the fallen Skulks, each with a pair of short swords, and an assortment of odd items and food. Gregory you can use the odd things collected by the skulks to activate your abilities. Best we return to base though, they will be back in greater numbers. You have proven yourselves to be quite capable. Maybe with you we can gather enough people interested and try to flush out their lair, that would be one less threat to worry about. Finder says as he turns to make his way back to the Sanctuary.

Sizerox |

Snorting at his inability to control his urges, Sizerox did his best not to meet the gaze of Finder as he spoke. Sullenly he gathered up the short swords, sticking one in his belt, before wrapping the rest in a bundle of cloth and hostering it under his arm.
Yes, well...I best get these and the spear back to the quartermaster then.
Keeping his eyes on the floor, a displeased frown on his face, he started waking back the way they had come.

"Basilisk" Jack Bumpo |

Walking up to the others, Jack slaps a consoling hand on the big man's back. "Don't fret too hard, son, them little fellas will be back soon enough and we'll get another chance." Cradling his musket, Jack keeps a wary eye out for danger.

Gregory Leichardt |

Gregory breathes a sigh of relief once the combat is over. Needing little encouragement, he quickly begins picking over the equipment possessed by the corpses.
I'll take a shortsword too, for the moment.
When Finder notes that the Skulks will soon be back, in undoubtedly greater numbers, he nods.
"Very well, let's return to Sanctuary."

Gazerich Knall |

These Skulks hide well, fortunately for us that is all they do well. Finder and the party returns to the Quatermaster/Guard post on the edge of the Sanctuary. Gazerich is there and he seems to have calmed down.
After hearing the news of the Skulks attack he seems worried.I think those buggers fear what's topside worse than they fear us now. I think we will have to root them out. I will assemble a meeting with the elders and see if we can not mount an offensive. For now I need some sentries. If you and this party could watch the northern tower and man the ballista I would be grateful. The other patrols have reported in and we found a cash of old weapons. I have not yet been able to make out who might have made them. Gazerich says as he holds up a particularly wicked looking short sword.
You may trade the short swords you gained for any weapon from the Core

Sizerox |

Returning to the quartermaster, Sizeroxs mood brightens as he hands over the boar spear.
I thank you for the use of your weapon, it served as truly as the craftsmanship hinted it would.
At the offer of any weapon they wanted, he quickly pointed out a Falchion behind the orc.
I shall take the one then. If what little memory I have serves me well, such a blade is favoured by your people is it not? It would be an honor to contiue such a tradition, even though I stand but a human.
handling the blade, he sat down with a wheatstone to get to know his new blade. A look of realization played across his face, and he looked up at Gazerich.
I would be most grateful if you would keep your eyes open for any breastplates coming through here...I should were much like such a thing.

![]() |

Gazerich hands over the items you request, they have also been recently sharpened and cared for.
You make your way up to the North Tower and relieve the current sentries. It has been quiet, but we have heard of Skulkers and Giant bats on the patrols today so keep an eye out. They stand by to answer any questions.
the tower over sees a walkway that is about 30' wide and goes as far as you can see into the darkness. It is about 250' below you. There are Griffin riders that fly around and act as messengers for the towers. Above you in this giant cavern is a small opening to the outside, it is about another 100' up and is just large enough for the griffins to come and go as they please with wings tucked, approx. 20' wide. The mid day sun is shinning through brightly.
The Ballista can be positioned to fire anywhere on the lower walkway, or angled up to fire things approaching from above. It takes a swift action to maneuver it, it is on a stand. It takes a full round action to reload. Feats for Crossbows will apply to using this weapon.

Gregory Leichardt |

Gregory nods.
"I have some familiarity with mechanisms. I imagine that I could handle the targeting array of a ballista relatively easily."
He then favors Sizerox with the ghost of a smile.
"Between the two of us, we should be able to keep up a fairly respectable rate of fire, if it becomes necessary!"
In terms of weapons in the 'stash', how about scimitars, rapiers, mighty [+1] composite longbows and heavy repeating crossbows? I figure I should see what I can get my mechanised hands on ;-)
