I'm not up with rules on exposure to cold, and neither has Bazikian had much experience with it, so I'm happy to go with whatever wiser heads decide. Having said that, if pressing on and trying to find a cave or some sort of shelter and building a fire is an option I'd rather do that than head backwards. But again, that's an uninformed opinion, so if you guys think heading back to the carriage is best, I'm happy to do that.

For some reason I thought Nyalis' mule was pulling the carriage and was with us. The question is, would the carriage provide enough shelter from the frigid cold. Brominate has cold weather clothing and blanket as he was planning on traveling north, but as he said, he'll do whatever the others decide. His suggestion is to venture forward if they can.

@Grim, really it's just because Half-Elves get Skill Focus as a bonus feat at 1st level.

Stealth = 1 (Rank) + 3 (Class Skill) + 4 (DEX mod) + 3 (Skill Focus)

Table one just had their first PC death. they are a little bit ahead of you guys, but not by a ton. this AP is definitely dangerous!

LOL, I thought that was going to be us with the first death while fighting the tatzlwyrm. I've been avoiding reading the other table's gameplay to not give away spoilers but it might be cool to see how they go, especially in this case.

GM - On the subject of dangerousness (and I may regret I asked this question so be gentle), are you planning on continuing the "Every hour spent inside of the Border Wood will require a fortitude save to not be affected by the cold" checks? It matters for all of us but for Nyalis specifically it's about reserving a slot for Endure Elements every day or being able to use that for other things.

@Nyalis,

I probably should be making you guys make those checks more often. keeping track of how long things should take outside of combats isn't easy. the last 2 times i was going to make you all take your checks you went and warmed up so i let it go. (once by leaving and resting, so everyone would have been fine by morning, and once when you warmed up by the bandit fire)

so short answer, yes, you will be taking those checks, but I probably don't call for them as often as other GMs might

Okay. Big stuff is moved. Probably 11 or 12 trips of loose "things" from our storage garage to get, yet, plus whatever's still in the apartment.

Have my bed set up, the entertainment center set p and configured, my computer set up (and a wireless NIC added because it is too far from the router to wire !), and I've found my clean underwear!

So, now I can type on a keyboard instead of trying to cram my fingers on the fake keyboard on my phone. Time to try to catch up, after I share the post across my games.

GM - Several things here. I thought it was easier here than in the gameplay thread.

1) First off, happy to put the DC's in the saves. This is the kind of feedback that I'm happy to take if it makes the game run smoothly. Ithink the DC would be 10 + 1/2 level + int modifier for a total of 14.

2) Here is what I think about splash damage from bombs. From the APG page 28: Splash damage from an alchemist bomb is always equal to the bomb’s minimum damage (so if the bomb would deal 2d6+4 points of fire damage on a direct hit, its splash damage would be 6 points of fire damage).

Nyalis' bombs do 1d6 + 4 (int bonus) + 1 (Point Blank Shot) + 1 (Focused Burn Trait) for a total of 1d6+6.

SO, minimum damage would be 7. All this is typed as fire damage.

Are you in alignment on all this or do you think there are other rules I'm not taking into account?

Focused Burn specifies that it only applies to the direct hit, not to the splash damage.

And actually, after I looked it up the FAQ specifies that PBS also does not apply to splash damage:

So i think that the splash from your bombs would only be 5 at this point.

GM - I was unaware of that FAQ entry; thanks for pointing it out.

I think you are right then, splash is 5 until level 3 when it becomes 6. That's much less aggressive scaling than I had envisioned but it seems more inline with designer intent.

I wouldn't worry too much, Alchemists have quite high damage output even without a few extra points of splash damage. the one in my RL Crimson Throne campaign was the main damage dealer in the party before he died

Just a heads up, in addition to working full-time and trying to finish this thesis, I'm also on the road for gigs for the next five weekends in a row, and more through the rest of the year as well. I'm really wishing I hadn't broken the half-orc's ankles! (Where's a 7th lvl Cleric when you need one!) Nyalis has me super paranoid! She probably could've fought with us! Or told us where Lady Argentea is. If I find a MedKit or something, I'll see about bandaging her ankles (hopefully, before she wakes up).

I also feel pretty guilty for leaving her in the cold.

Brom, if you're still having doubts about doing the right thing with the bandit lieutenant, you should see the butchery on the other side of the lodge. Actually, we might get to a chance to see it again if the necromancer is good at hide and seek.
