There is only a single corpse. Milosh's children, Milinka and Dujin, are not here.

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Polson strips off his armour and starts to dig.

Seeing Polson digging at the hand-numbingly cold soil, Donk asks, "What happen? What doing?"

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Undercommon:
"Help me dig Donk, then we go deal with some bad men..."

I think it's safe to assume Donk is slowly learning the common language.

Male Blue Scaled Kobold Gestalt Cleric 3/Ranger 3

K'Tzhang starts to lay out the body and prepare it for burial and rites, to send her soul to Pharesma.

The whole group working together easily digs a hole large and deep enough for the corpse you assume is Anya, Milosh's wife. Once buried, and K'tzhang has said some prayers, Emerys says, "Now we ride to save the children, yes?" He looks around at the group. "Then let's go!", and he jumps into the saddle and kicks his mount into a run.

Saddle up posse! You have justice to serve!

Male Blue Scaled Kobold Gestalt Cleric 3/Ranger 3

K'Tzhang saddles up and waits for Polson to give the word, before he and his pony follows as quickly as he can.

K'Tzang takes out his coconut halves, making galloping noises.

Brave Sir K'tzhang! :p

Sunny is silent through the groups sctions, helping a much as she can. Brushing the dirt from her hands, She does take the time to armor up before joining the ride to save the folk that have been taken.

"Who's th' best at trackin'?" She calls.

"No use ridin' off in't a ambush set by these...these...tossers." She says with vehemance.

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Polson saddles up and slowly kicks his horse off, heading Southwest.

Male Half-Elf (Drow) Fighter (Crossbow) 3/Rogue 3 (Sniper)

Silently lingers a bit longer viewing the scene, saddles up and leaves following the group.

The party rides and rides, slowing their horses to a regular trot after a time. Riding longer than usual, it is already dark when the unspoken decision is made to camp for the night.

Just as the group is dismounting a creature roars as it rushes at them from out of the dark.

Emerys grabs up his bow and fire an arrow at the creature, missing.

Nerik readies his morningstar and moves around to have a direct line to the creature.

As she fumbles at the holster of he x-bow, Sunny's words of wisdom at summing up her situation are,

"Awe...poot!"

Please, due to my spotting internet time, feel free to NPC Sunny to keep the combat moving along. (^_^)

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

On his initiative Polson dismounts (a move action?) and will draw and fire his bow if he can?

I am assuming the owl bear is flat footed albeit not within sneak attack range.

Short bow 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

If that hits 1d6 ⇒ 6

+2 to this damage if the Owlbear is flat footed but no sneak attack unless I can move into 30 range but kinda assume that is a bit much!

Male Blue Scaled Kobold Gestalt Cleric 3/Ranger 3

K'Tzhang gets down from his horse and starts to collect the other horses reins together once their riders have dismounted and takes the horses back away from the noise of any impending violence.

Sulna will get off his horse then move to get behind the creature.

I'm on vacation until June 1st, limited or none, computer access. Please autobot me until I get back.

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Waits for sound of arrow thudding into Owlbear ;)

I was waiting to see if Belros was going to post, guess not yet.
Also, the owlbear is not flat-footed, sorry.

Belros dismounts and readies his sword.

K'tzhang dismounts and moves to grab the reins of Nerik's horse.

Sulna dismounts and moves around Emerys' horse.

Polson lets loose and arrow at the owlbear, striking it. It gets stuck in the creature's mangy hide.

Donk stands there a little confused as to what he's supposed to do.

The owlbear charges Emerys' horse, nearly ripping its throat out with a swipe of its claw.

Sunny yells out, "No! You leave our horsies alone!" and she dismounts and moves through the group so she can get a clear line of fire. Sorry, I lack the ability to type in Sunnyspeak.

End round 1, begin round 2

By luck alone, Emerys manages to avoid the claw of the owlbear as he tumbles between his horse and the owlbear. Emerys' horse moves back a panicked step as he manages to stab the creature with his sword.

Nerik speaks a few words and one of his hands glows with a blue energy. He steps up and touches the owlbear, the blue glow flowing from his hand and across the creature. It roars.

Belros charges the owlbear, but his blade fails to strike true.

K'tzhang gathers the reins of the both Belros' and Sunny's horses. Unless there's something else you'd rather do.

Sulna steps up to the owlbear and strikes at the creature twice, both times failing to successfully connect.

Donk moves in on the owlbear, horns and claws growing with each step. The giant mite claws the owlbears throat, but doesn't have the same effect as the owlbear had on Emerys' horse.

Sorry I have been somewhat absent real life catches up some times and I just logged in to report I'm still here but will be absent today also

Belros: No worries dude, real life is more important than killing a tough owlbear that's a random encounter in a pbp.

Dice Rolls:
Belros short attack vs. owlbear: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Owlbear bull rush vs. Polson: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Belros stabs again at the owlbear, and misses, again.

The owlbear pushes Polson back 10 ft. but fails to close the distance to Donk, as the whole group takes the opportunity presented to strike at the owlbear, killing it.

End combat.

"Geeze! An' weren't that a kerfuffle o' feathers an' mean!" Sunny exclaims, shouldering her x-bow as she walks towards the fallen beast, though she eyes the surrounding foliage.

"Whut be th' name o' said bundle a fallen trouble?' She asks, looking intently at the mound of fur, fangs and feathers.

There be nuthin' hard about th' way I be speakin', t'is all in'a gift o' th' gabbin'. (^_~)

An' I be back wi' a new 'puter! (^_^) Now t' get at all'a lost info an' stuffs...-_- Much cheers t' ye an' all'a yours! Here's t' ADVENTUERE! (^_^)

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Polson spits out a feather before wiping his brow. Content the beast is dead he cleans off his blades while looking round at the injured to see who requires help.

After making sure the owlbear is truly dead, Donk drags the corpse away.

By the time he returns, camp is made and part of the group is already asleep, the other half sitting there, waiting for someone to talk. Donk curls up and is fast asleep.

Belros, K'tzhang, Nerik, Polson, and Sunny are the ones still awake.

As the group settles for the evening, Sunny shifts over next to Polson and tries to strike up a conversation,

"So..whut's say we gets t' know one another a lil' better, then? T' break th' ice, c'n ye tell me more abouts th' critter whut came boundin' down upon us?" She smiles and grins as she settles upon her blanket, awaiting Polson's reply.

Male Blue Scaled Kobold Gestalt Cleric 3/Ranger 3

Sleepily K'Tzhang speaks to those gathered round the campfire, "Well, itsth been an exhausting day I shall be glad for my bed. But before I go, what plansth do you have for usth tomorrow Polsthon? "

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Used to being left well enough alone Polson seems surprised by the questions coming in his direction. Stroking his chin he puts down his sword and whetstone to talk to his comrades.
"Sunny, I know no more about that creature than you. I do not believe it to be natural and it seemed to be either protecting it's territory or looking for a meal. It was obviously not smart in attacking a group but I guess it is the apex predator in this area. At least I hope it is! K'tzhang, I have no more of a plan at present other than to continue southwest till we find these brigands and see that they face justice at the end of a rope. On e that is done I think we go see your people and arrange our peaceful co existence." Polson hopes he has given the answers people expect of him and settles back on his bedroll to while away some time talking to his new friends.

Nerik speaks up, "The end of all things shall come in its time. I look forward to making certain these brigands do not live to see its arrival. I shall take watch for the whole night. Sleep, and rise with the dawn so that we may swiftly seek those who murder without purpose."

Sunny waves and smiles to K'tzhang as the Kobold mumbles his good nights. She sits and listens intently to Polson's speech.

"Aye, these folks whut done th' deed on Milosh's steadin'. My kin, they have a name fer folk like that, but t'is hard t' shift th' idea across in't poeple's speak." Sunny frowns a little, "I think a word whut were used a lot in talkin' were 'Pirate'..." She pauses, "Though anuther word whut seems t' be fit fer th' end these mob are commin' to be 'Dead'..." She sighs

"I do hope we's c'n salvage a good amount o' things. I feel we's not done right by Milosh..." Seeing Polson snuggle under his sleeping gear, Sunny scoots over and sits next to Belros,

"Hey there?" She says quietly, unsure if they are still awake.

Dice Rolls:
23 Pharast (night) Random Encounter Check: 1d100 ⇒ 99

The night goes by without the group being further assaulted by the denizens of the Kamelands.

24 Pharast

As the first strand of light is seen over the horizon, Nerik wakes the group.

Male Half-Elf (Drow) Fighter (Crossbow) 3/Rogue 3 (Sniper)

"Hey! Always space for ya Sunny, but I intend to rest after doing so miserable fighting that thing, want to talk a bit first or just cuddle and sleep?

At Belros' words Sunny grins and hugs the fellow.

"Aye, an' that be right nice o' ye." She replies as she accepts and snuggles against his side, pulling her large blanket around the both of them, as she gets comfortable. She smiles,

"Hey there, not to worry. I dun't do more'n jus' fall off me horse neither." She grins, even as a blush of colour rises on her cheeks. "T'is some times th' way o' th' world. That's why havin' crew mates around t' help pull ye off'n th' pitchin' deck be a right good thing." She says, trying to comfort belros' feelings towars the battle with the past beast.

"Well, I were kind o' thinkin' o' usin' th' time t' maybe share some'a th' tales we have o' our diff'r'nt homes?" She suggests.

"So? D'ye want t' start? Or should I?' She asks.

BUT! If people don't want to bog things down and would much rather be on their way after the bandits, vengeance and the missing children then holding off the exposition is always an option. (^_^)

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Polson dresses and checks his weapons are in order. Awaiting the rest of the group waking Polson eats alone.

Dice Rolls:
24 Pharast (day) Random Encounter Check 1: 1d100 - 5 ⇒ (62) - 5 = 57

24 Pharast (day) Random Encounter Check 3: 1d100 - 15 ⇒ (32) - 15 = 17

Part way through the day, K'tzhang informs the group the bandits have split ranks. Part of them continuing in the same WSW direction, and part heading WNW.

MAP The black dot with a red center is where the bandits split.

"So, th' question be, which group has th' most baggage an' most likely th' kiddies an' th' loot?" Sunny asks, even as she stand up in the stirrups to try and get a better look around the area.

"Well I'm of noble blood you can say, or as far as noble you can get around here" giving up a short chuckle "I'm a trained soldier, a very good sharpshooter with my croosbow and I can handle myself with a sword or two in my hands, how about you?

Ah, so ye want t' have a tad amount o' exposition, hey? (^_~)

What has happened before:

'Evening campfire tales':
As the pair relax beside the campfire, Sunny listens and nods to Belros' description of himself. At his prompting of her she responds in turn.

"Ah...'Noble'. That be a word I've heard in me travels. My kin don't sort 'em selves out in such a way. We respect them's whut're older, or experienced. or gifted in whut ever t'is they do. Though t' have some one who's all-a-ways 'Top o' th' heap'? Nah, we dun't do that at all." She shifts about for a moment as she settles a bit more.

"Now, as fer m'self? I s'pose ye c'n say I grew up bein' feisty. I all-a-ways did enjoy th' time swimmin' aroun' home, learnin' whut an' where t' gather stuff. O' course, there's kin who're all knowin' things about th' criters an'a tides an'a weather an' such, but I were more in't jus'...y'know...defendin' an' stuff. Learnin' th' better way t' swing a sword or spear." She sighs, "Though I must admit, I do like t' raise m'voice in a tune every now an' then."

Male Blue Scaled Kobold Gestalt Cleric 3/Ranger 3

K'Tzhang feels the grassy knoll where the bandits split, his eyes watching the tail-tale signs for the party's makup and how many went which way.

Survival(Track) 10 + 9 + 2 = 21 Takes a 10 on survival(track) with aid another, to determine how the party split, will probably go with the WNW direction, if he can't tell.

K'tzhang: You're not 100% sure, but you think the children are with the group traveling WNW.

After several moments the kobold looks up at everyone, "I'm pretty sure they went that way, te group we should follow, that's the way they look the Milosh's children. We should follow them that way, everyone OK with that, Polson?"

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Polson nods in agreement and steers his horse in that direction.
