"We're in the ocean, we don't need any more saltiness from you." Revhi laughs. She steps over to Dinetta and uses a powerful spell of healing.

Dinetta was only down 10hp (the crit missed due to blindness, thank goodness), a tap with the wand, or a CLW would probably be enough, save the 3rd level slot for in combat. -- If Baldwin will let you undo that.

Dinetta stands, arms dropped to her sides, panting after the quick skirmish, realizing that her life was that close to ending if the blind flailing of the slasher had been an inch closer to her.
When the voice starts up again, she looks up at the device.
It is always brave to hide, but even the best of thieves must come out occasionally. We will find you and then it will not be us who are losing our heads.

Dinetta is truly believing that I am merciful. Tsk Tsk Tsk
Ah, but I do know what is to come and I'll let you save the 3rd level spell and give her a tap or two with the wand.
Is the group going to take a few moment out of combat and heal up or do anything else is this room?

Jerome taking 10, or give it to the cleric:
Dinetta:
clw: 1d1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Jerome thunks it against his leg to make it work better by getting the magic to the end of the wand.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
He looks around to Marcus:
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
he spins around one then hops to his other foot like he say the person in the magic shop do,
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Anyone else?

Marcus feeling better asks for one or two more depending on how the rolls go
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7...just one

Dinetta looks to Jerome.
We were hired to guard a ship. The captain is nuts, or evil, or both, and docked us here, and then grabbed one of our team while we were searching the stranded ship above. Our companion was one of the scalpless ones that was hanging out with you.
She looks back up at the speaker.
This voice is new, but I plan on finding the captain and teaching him a lesson about messing with librarians.

Don't forget that Dinetta has the Trapspotter ability if she is within 10' of a trap feel free to make the perception check for her.
Dinetta nods to Jerome.
Yup, lets see what we have.
The small librarian moves over and makes sure that former students did not play any trickery with the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Disable Device: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 <-- if necessary (hopefully not with that roll)

Dinetta looks at the next door and it has the familiar odd hand-print indentation to open the door. The door slides open revealing a triangular chamber that has three doors - including the one you are looking through. The southern door hums from what you can tell from your position. To the north where the walls intersect there is large brass dome displaying the image of brain on the top. The front of the strange looking device is clear and you can see the insides have perfectly aligned rows from top to bottom of windy metal. One single row is several yellow wrapped items, each actually alike. All the other rows are empty. There is strange lettering next to each. On the side of exterior there is what looks like a key pad with strange lettering and an 1 inch by 1/4 slot.

Hmmm.. I've never had much luck with altars, much less mechanical ones. Revhi can you uh...take it's power away
Revhi
Revhi chuckles at the two. "Look at the letters on the key bad. They can be pushed in. It must have to do with how you can see the key bad from the clear window."
Marcus Nightsky
|
Whoa there, bets not be poking at stuff if we don't know what happens.
It's OK Jerry, she's a priest, she knows what she's doing Marcus says confidently

Dinetta, her interest piqued, reaches into her pouch and takes out a gold piece.
Put this in the slot, looks like it is the right size.
baldwin the merciful
When Dinetta inserts the coin and the D1 row begins to grind and spin the one yellow package moves forward to the edge of the shelf, then the package drops. There a swoosh sound, and then magically the yellow package appears on s shelf outside of the magical altar. You can now pick up package and the strange god quiets down.
Revhi
"Never look a gift horse in the mouth." Revhi laughs at Jerome. "Well let us see what the package has for us."
Perception on package (traps?): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
As the resident healer I'll let you guys check that out ;)

Marcus eyes the prize and and muses What thing laid that egg
baldwin the merciful
Its roughly five by five inches for it's dimensions.
When you open it there it has some thin wafer like items in it . the wrapper is filled although you can see some of what is inside has broken crumbled to the bottom.
You all know what it is right? I laughed at this part of the adventure and added much more detail.

Dinetta looks at the strange items.
Any idea what they are? Whatever they are, they seem to be partially broken, at least some of them. Dinetta carefully takes one out and sniffs it. She then turns it over examining both sides to see if there is any indication of what it is - a weapon? some magic item? perhaps an alien child egg?
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 <-- to realize that these deadly items are salty and highly addictive, much worse than any actual weapon

Marcus sniffs the delicious forbidden salty delight and begins drooling slightly. Can I try it...Please

Dinetta hands one of the strange wafer-like objects to Marcus.
It is your choice. Don't blame me if something strange happens.
Marcus Nightsky

Marcus will take the smallest of nibbles and if it tastes like a chip Finish the chip and reach for a handful more.
Theesh are good crunch, crunch He says as fragments come out of his mouth
baldwin the merciful
Marcus brings to tithe more the gift giving altar god who dispenses all the yumming crunchy goodness. Slugging it with more coppers, silver, and a gold piece and the god spits out all it's yellow bagged goodness that was in it's belly. Greedily he picks up the wrapped goodness and stuffs them in his bag.
So the east door of the humming door to the south.
