Baldwin the Merciful's Razor Coast: Black Spot (Inactive)

Game Master baldwin the merciful

"The Black Spot" An adventure of extradimensional depravity for four to six 5th level PCs Explore the wreck of The Flying Fortune, a ship impaled on the exposed tip of an underwater mountain with a waterfall of gold coins spilling from her shattered hull. Unravel the mystery of her vanished crew—the bloodstains, the shredded decking. Discover a dank and gaping hole in the stone peak that pierces the Fortune. Is it a natural opening? Or a tunnel crafted by arcane engines? It leads down, that much is clear. Down inside a hollow, underwater mountain—all the way to the ocean floor.

For all you know this is the person who debrained all these unfortunate creatures.

Thus the reason for the drawn weapon, question and sense motive check, which fortunately was reasonably good.

M Human

Um..I was a member of the ship these fellows were on. Jerome nods to some of the people on the hooks. Some razor handed creatures stormed our ship and hauled off a bunch of us. I woke up hanging upside down from the hooks and managed to free myself just a little bit ago. My name is Jerome.

Evil GM

Oh yeah there are two addition men on hooks. The two folks he motions too.

Razor handed creatures you say, we also had an encounter with some of them as well.

Let's get him down, I got a good feeling about this one. Jerome I am Marcus. Marcus Nightsky He says to our party as he makes his way towards Davkas.

Damn...That's a real shame

M Human

Jerome is already on the floor

Um, lucky you fellows managed to fight them off. I was real worried that I'd end up scalpless with nothing but my loincloth on me.

Dinetta continues to watch the barely clothed man suspiciously.
Why are you not dead like the rest? This ship has been here for some time. Our companion - She gestures toward Davkas - was taken only yesterday and is now scalpless.

M Human

I'm afraid that I don't know beyond 'The will of the gods'. I woke up upside down and used a bit of magic to break my bonds.

Dinetta looks back and forth between the strange man and the undead goddess and decides that the man is of more value, so she ignores the deity, instead filing her away for future use should undeath be necessary.

Evil GM

So you have a nearly naked man standing in front of you with any gear but his skivvies, but he' happy to be alive...for the moment at least.

What are you all doing next?

M Human

Did you happen to come across any discarded clothes?

M Human

Dinetta looks up at the mostly nude man.
If your gear is around, we will find it. We are in some strange stone sticking out of the ocean, so there are not a lot of stores about to purchase new gear.

Evil GM

What the plan and the order? dinetta, Marcuc, Jerry, Revhi, Jean I presume?

Current Map

M Human

Squishy Sorcerer in the middle please

Evil GM

The group moves to the next door down - the middle door - and as Dinetta examines the door, she notices it has a similar plate on the door that the other ones had. She places her hand on the plate and the door opens.

You see that this chamber is a wreck. The jagged stone ripping through the brass superstructure that appeared in only one corner of the adjoining meat locker dominates the entire western wall. Debris covers the floor and minute, sharp spines of jagged stone pierce every flat surface.

A successful DC 20 Perception check:
Reveals traces of some long-dried, blue-green ichor. This appears like dried liquid, similar to blood but for the color.

Any trace of what this chamber’s original function was is no longer evident. Although you do notice a bundle of clothing, wrapped around a light mace that has been thrown deep into the room. The bundle is against the rocky wall.

Let's see if we can avoid those nasty spikes and whatever this bluish-green stuff is Marcus points out the blue-green stains and throws the rope

Is this blue-green ichor evrywhere, Sorry I can't view the map

I'll give it a try, Marco. Jerome uses Mage Hand to start tugging it over.

"Almost though you'd be a stowaway if the ship was going anywhere." Revhi laughs and claps Jerome on the shoulder. "Welcome aboard! So to speak. Tell me if you need any help with that."

Evil GM

The mage hand goes over and picks up the light mace - it struggles slightly with the weight - then brings it back to Jerome. Jerome immediately recognizes it as his mace. You realize that it will take quite some time to drag all your stuff on over to you.

M Human

Phew, good to have this back.

Liberty's Edge

Seeing Jerome use his Mage Hand, Dinetta touches her necklace and creates another Mage Hand to assist in retrieving the gear.

Evil GM

With the second mage hand retrieving items, Jerome's items are retrieved in short order. A few minutes later the former prisoner is garbed and ready to go. There's a watery voice that fills the air, "Welcome my health passengers. I'm pleased you are here. We need to work together to save this ship. I am the Engineer and you are my guest. I, too, was attacked by an aggressor without provocation."

Perception:

Jean Phillipe Poulain: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Revhi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Dinetta: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

Marcu and Dinetta:
You each notice on the strange brass ceiling there is a round fine looking grate. Looks like a vent or something but it's odd in it's appearance. The voice seems to be emitting from that grate.

M Human

Jerome taps himself with his Mage Armor wand for extra protection.

Jerome:
Perhaps some sort of trap with a ventriloquism or magic mouth spell on it.

This mountain that the ship is impaled on would'nt be part of the barrier peaks?

M Human

It might be some sort of trap with a spell called Magic Mouth that delivers a message, or one that allows on to throw their voice from far away.

Evil GM

I'm waiting on Dinetta's arcana roll.

Sorry, long work day.
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 <-- nope, didn't study that subject

Evil GM

Jerome's explanation makes perfect sense to all, besides He is the spellcaster, so he clearly the authority. The group is satisfied with the explanation and they move to the last door. There is familiar panel and Dinetta puts her hand on it as she has down before. The opens...

I'll post the next section tomorrow.

M Human

Jerome thinks of seeing if he can ask questions.JUst how can we save this ship?

Liberty's Edge

Dinetta looks at the formerly mostly naked man.
Save the ship? I am pretty sure we are not on any ship. The ship is way above us. If my analysis is correct, we are well beneath the surface of the ocean here, deep within the spire which appeared to impale the ship.

M Human

Well the Engineer said something about saving the ship, so maybe this is some weird ship or that is a very old message about the ship above.
